Sundling, Viktor, Andrée, Viktor January 2023 (has links)
By conducting a qualitative case study on a prominent Swedish government agency, the study explores the viewpoints of five workers on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and offers a number of key variables for efficient AI implementation in the Swedish public sector. The goal of this study is to contribute to the literature on AI application in the public sector. This is especially crucial in considering the technology's rapid advancement, which has the ability to dramatically increase the efficiency of organizational operations. However, this progress is not without risk, as highlighted by some significant challenges; a lack of autonomy and worries of making incorrect decisions. As a result, our research discusses how the public sector could encourage efficient AI implementation. The research results demonstrate the need of educating personnel about thetechnology and addressing the perception of existing rules as challenges to the implementation of AI in the Swedish public sector.

Unmanned Stores In Sweden : A Quantitative Study On Enhancers And Inhibitors According To The Swedish Generation Z

Andersson, Pontus, Oscar, Johansson January 2023 (has links)
Introduction: Since the start of the digital age back in the 70s, digital technology has become a main tool for us humans to work, communicate, and enjoy ourselves on a day-to-day basis. The major push that set this new chapter of human life was due to the first military-manufactured computers of the time. The usage and development since then have grown exponentially all across our lives, affecting everything from hospital visits in Hong Kong to a late-night shopping experience in Stockholm. This leads us to today, where businesses are taking technological advances every day to keep their customers happy and satisfied, but also setting the bar higher and higher between their competitors. Some store owners have even figured out that physical human presence is not even needed in physical stores. The benefit is that the upkeep costs drop and almost no employees are needed; this is beneficial for small store locations in sparsely populated areas. In Sweden, it has become a huge problem that small towns and villages slowly die due to high upkeep costs for store owners. With these unmanned stores, the trend could change to the possessive. However, it is also pressured by the very technology-demanding Generation Z. Setting pressure on this retail sector to keep up and find the right way to proceed with their businesses in a way that fits Generation Z’s demand long term.  Purpose: This specific study will try to explain how different enhancers and inhibitors affect consumer acceptance according to Generation Z for this store concept in Sweden. The researchers of this thesis believe that this study is needed because of the vast growth of unmanned stores and the lack of research it has, especially in Scandinavia. Methodology: In order to answer the research question, nine different hypotheses were created with different inhibitors and enhancers derived from previous research. Furthermore, a combination of online and face-to-face questionnaires was conducted, whereby 133 valid respondents were collected. The data was then analyzed with the help of a multiple regression analysis. Conclusion:  From this research, it can be concluded that for the investigated enhancers: high levels of technology readiness, usefulness, and enjoyment were all factors affecting Gen Z´s acceptance of unmanned convenience stores. Furthermore, that lack of human interaction affects Gen Z´s resistance towards unmanned convenience stores. These results can be used for future research and for companies targeting Gen Z to shop at unmanned convenience stores.

Smooth Sailing : An Exploratory Study Navigating the Acceptance of Digital Health Solutions and the Impact on Seafarer Well-Being

Herkommer, Charlotta, Siljevik Laine, Sandra January 2023 (has links)
Background: To ensure a sustainable future in the maritime industry; new measures of employee well-being are needed. Digital health solutions have proven to possess great potential to ensure employee well-being regardless of location, with opportunities for a proactive instead of a reactive approach where health and safety issues can be avoided.  Research Problem: Despite the potential benefits of using digital health solutions, the acceptance and impact of such solutions remain unexplored in the maritime industry, which is essential for achieving improvements.   Purpose: This study aims to explore what influences the acceptance of digital health solutions for improving seafarer well-being to understand how the maritime industry accepts digital health solutions and, more importantly, the potential impact this acceptance has on seafarer well-being. Research Question: How does the acceptance of digital health solutions in the maritime industry impact the employee well-being of seafarers?  Methodology and Method: This is a qualitative and inductive study, with a relativist view of reality and a social constructionist view of knowledge, that aims to build new theories through semi-structured interviews and Gioia’s analysis method.  Conclusion: Our findings focus on what influences the acceptance of digital health solutions and how these solutions impact employee well-being. With the aid of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), we find that there are levels of acceptance dependent on the nature of different influential factors. Furthermore, we discover that digital health solutions can influence physical, mental, and social well-being. From this, we develop a framework explaining the impact acceptance has on employee well-being. As a result, we illustrate that acceptance is a crucial aspect of improving employee well-being with digital health solutions.

A study of users' mental models and technology acceptance

Davidsson, Axel January 2023 (has links)

An Investigation Of Boaters' Attitudes Toward And Usage Of Targeted Mobile Apps

Bowerman, Kamra 01 January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to understand boaters’ adoption and usage of smartphones and mobile apps as well as to obtain their opinion on potential features of a targeted mobile app being developed as part of a broader interdisciplinary Florida Sea Grant outreach project. Data were gathered from an online survey of a sample of 164 boaters from the surrounding Central Florida area. In contrast with previous empirical mobile app studies, many respondents reported using mobile apps for information-seeking versus escape gratifications. Further more than half of the respondents’ age sixty-five and over indicated using smartphones and mobile apps. These findings reflected recent national trend data showing shifting gratifications and an increase in technology use among older American adults. In regards to the planned mobile app, the study’s respondents had favorable reactions to its potential features and indicated an above average intent toward downloading the app

High School Teaching and Learning Experiences Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Ayega, Douglas 08 1900 (has links)
This phenomenological study explored and described the lived experiences of high school biology teachers from a school district in one of the states in the USA concerning the use of online platforms in online biology teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study interviewed teachers to evaluate the teacher experiences, challenges, and opportunities that online platforms presented in biology instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study also analyzed students' perspectives based on the teachers' responses and district data obtained from the student engagement survey administered to all high school students at the school district every year. The findings of the study indicate that students experienced issues such as lack of engagement, unsuitable home environment to support learning, and poor attendance due to minimal monitoring when learning shifted to fully online. Teacher-related factors included inadequate preparedness to use technology to enhance teaching, limited content delivery, and increased teacher collaboration. In conclusion, the study recommends that school districts sufficiently prepare teachers to improve adaptability to different teaching and learning models, emphasizing the use of diverse educational technologies. Future studies should conduct quantitative or mixed studies to establish the extent and degree to which such factors as poor learner engagement contributed to less than satisfactory outcomes in summative and formative assessments.

Investigating the Barriers Small Independent Retailers Must Overcome to Enter E-commerce in Sweden

Hottentot, Lars January 2017 (has links)
In today’s society, it is increasingly important for retailers to have an online presence, yet the adoption rate of e-commerce by small retailers is still lagging behind the that of larger retailers. This is due to the difficulty small retailers have to overcome the barriers to develop their web-shops, such as cost and time. This thesis will examine the barriers of single-store independent retail businesses to sell and market their goods online. It will use the Technology Acceptance Model framework developed by Davis (1986) to help understand how the barriers affect the retailers attitude towards the process of developing their web-shops. Specifically, it will ask the retailers, through interviews, what barriers exist, what their perception of difficulty to overcome these barriers is, and what their perception of importance to overcome these barriers is. The major findings show that the barriers for retailers have not changed in the past decade, nor has the difficulty level of overcoming these barriers. The majority of small retailers who have not yet developed their web-shops don’t feel that the effort to do so is worth the potential gains, yet the small retailers who have already developed their web-shops did feel it was worth the effort. The retailers all felt that the process was more difficult than it should be, and insisted they would make the leap if the cost and effort required was reduced.

AI och hälsovård : en studie om Acceptansen för AI inom hälsovården / AI and healthcare : A study on the acceptance of AI in healthcare

Ahlqvist, Gustaf, Tesfai, Nftalem January 2024 (has links)
Mental health issues have become increasingly common and are now identified as a global problem. Figures for young Swedes aged 16-29 suffering from mental health problems show alarming increases over the past 15 years. Concurrently with the rise in mental health issues, studies highlighting the importance of AI in the healthcare sector are being conducted. These studies cover both advantages and limitations, with a recurring theme being a lack of acceptance from users. The purpose of this study is to examine the acceptance among young adults, both men and women, in Sweden, within the age range of 16-29 years. Acceptance is investigated through a quantitative survey based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The survey included a total of 73 respondents. However, we would like to point out that this number may limit the validity and generalizability of the findings. For both chatbots and avatars, five hypotheses have been defined, with all related to chatbots being accepted while four out of five related to avatars are accepted. The results of the study's hypotheses show clear relationships, with positive correlations and significant values at the one percent level (p < 0.01). There are clear connections between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, perceived usefulness and attitude toward use, as well as between attitude toward use and intended use. These results, based on collected data from the survey, reveal an overall low acceptance among young Swedes regarding AI-integrated health advice and indicate a certain level of concern and hesitation regarding the use of AI in mental healthcare
