Utformning av konst- och musikhus med läge i unik miljö / Designing a building intended for music and art and to be located in a unique environment

Thorvaldson, Niclas, Persson, Daniel January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to produce two alternative architectural designs, of a building, that will house various exhibitions and activities. Mainly those will be culture related; music and arts. The building is to be located in a Swedish lake, called Växjösjön, and the structure is intended to be placed on a floating hull.Initially the authors investigated, and discussed, what possibilities and limitations that were associated with the building. The authors then, separate from one another, created one alternative design each. The first of the two designs found its inspiration in different geometrical shapes, whereas the other was more of an organic design with a smooth and flowing architecture.

Nonlinear dynamics of Kerr optical frequency combs / Dynamique non-linéaire des peignes de fréquences optiques de Kerr Nonlinear dynamics of Kerr optical frequency combs

Balakireva, Irina 09 December 2015 (has links)
This thesis is dedicated to the study of the Kerr optical frequency combs in whispering gallery moderesonators, where the light can be excited by the extern pump. Due to the Kerr effect existing in theseresonators, the quasi-equidistant lines in the spectral domain are generated around the excited mode, that is the frequency comb. This thesis is devided in three chapters. The first one is dedicated to theintroduction of the Kerr comb generation and their applications. The second one presents the analysisof the Lugiato-Lefever equation used for the analytical study of the system, leading to the constructionof two bifurcation diagrams for the normal and anomalous dispersions. They are plotted for twoparameters, which can be controlled during experiments once the resonator has been fabricated, which are the pump power of the laser and its frequency detuning. These diagrams show the areas ofthe parameters for which one, two, or three solutions exist and their stability. The additional numericalsimulations show the exact type of the solution in each area (such as the bright and dark solitons, the breathers, the primary and secondary Kerr combs and chaotical regimes), finally these diagramsshow the parameters of the laser needed to be choosen for the generation of the desired solution. The third chapter is dedicated to the secondary Kerr combs, which are the additional lines generatedbetween the lines of the primary comb. They appear in the anomalous dispersion regime, when thequantity of the pump photons crosses the second-order threshold, which has been found numerically.

La peinture religieuse dans les "Cabinets d'amateurs" anversois de la première moitié du XVIIème siècle : combinaison d'images et construction de discours / Religious pictures in Antwerp gallery paintings from the first half of the seventeeth century : combining images and constructiong discourse

Samouelian, Esther 02 December 2017 (has links)
The thesis questions the place of religious pictures in the new metapictural genre of gallery paintings invented by Frans Francken II in Antwerp at the beginning of the seventeenth century. Antwerp gallery paintings have been considered so far as reflecting collecting practices and the taste at that time. They have also been understood as the expression of the ideas of the CounterReformation and, to a lesser extent, the humanistic culture in the Low Countries. This global sociocultural approach does not grasp the diversity and specificity of gallery paintings, the aim of these paintings is definitely another one. Looking like an image of a collection this combination of paintings and diverse objects leads to the construction of a discourse dedicated to an ethical or epistemological theme. Various links can be observed in gallery paintings between the reproduced pictures and even between the pictures and the objects, links which bring forth a strong internal coherence, hidden under apparent disorder. Relationships based on analogy or antithesis are established between the works of art which the beholder is invited to find out. Newly identified works confirm the presence of a theme which coordinates a gallery painting as a whole. My study is devoted to the gallery paintings by Frans Francken II and his brother Hieronymus, further those by Cornelis De Baellieur. All these gallery paintings contain existent paintings and follow the principle of organization according to a theme. My study also puts the question of internal coherence concerning the famous compositions by Willem van Haecht and tries to give a first answer to it.

REATANDO OS NÓS: ARTE & FATO GALERIA, MUSEU DE ARTE CONTEMPORÂNEA DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL- MAC/RS E TORREÃO ESPAÇOS DE LEGITIMAÇÃO EM PORTO ALEGRE (1985-1997) / REATTACHING NODES: ART & FACT GALLERY, CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL- MAC/RS AND TORREÃO SPACES OF LEGITIMATION IN PORTO ALEGRE (1985-1997)

Machado, Ana Méri Zavadil 08 July 2011 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research aims investigate three spaces of exhibitions, where each one guards its specificity: The Art & Fact Gallery, a commercial space; the Contemporary Art Museum of Rio Grande do Sul MACS/RS, a institutional space and the Torreão, a collective initiative of artists, in a meaningful time covering the years of 1985 and 1997, in Porto Alegre City. What interested us searching, mainly, was the feature common on all three, that is, the extent to which each contributed as a space of legitimation of artists who were beginning their careers in the mid 80's and 90's. From the historiography did the analysis of the performances of such spaces in relation to production, distribution and consumption of art in that period, despite the relationships between spaces, the artists and arts system in force, noting the changes that promoted into the field of art in Porto Alegre. The survey, regarding the methodology, procedures relating to research combines theoretical and field. The first will have its foundation in important authors who wrote about the period as Iclaia Cattani, Blanca Brites, Marilene Burtet Pieta, Anna Maria Albani de Carvalho and Maria Amelia Bulhões, like Gomes and Paulo Tadeu Chiarelli, and other influential theorists different areas such as Anne Cauquelin, Nathalie Heinich, Pierre Bourdieu, Sonia Saltztein, Ricardo Basbaum and Ligia Canongia. To reach our goals the field research was fundamental because the interviews with officials, directors and managers, was instructive, because understanding its dynamic presentation of art, we understand them as spaces of legitimation.

Utilisation des non-linéarités Kerr et Brillouin dans les résonateurs à mode de galerie cristallins pour la synthèse de micro-ondes / Kerr and Brillouin nonlinear effect in crystalline whispering gallery mode resonators for microwaves generation

Diallo, Souleymane 25 November 2016 (has links)
Whispering galery mode resonators are dielectric cavities that support modes with ultra-high quality factor and small volume that remain confined in their inner periphery for time duratioons that can be as long as few microseconds. The strong confinement of these modes for such long durations strongly enhances nonlinear effect suchs as Kerr effect or Brillouin effect. These resonators can therefore be used for several applications such as spectroscopy, telecommunications or microwave generation. The objective of this thesis is to use Kerr and Brillouin nonlinearities in these resonators at the laser wavelength of 1550 nm, in order to generate high spectral purity microwave signals with frequencies rangong fros 5 to 30 GHz. The first chapter oh the thesis intriduces the theory, fabrication, coupling and characterisation of whispering gallery mode resonators. The second chapter is about the generation of Kerr optical frequency combs in these resonators and their application to the generation of microwave signals. We present our experimental resuktsdn the numerical modelling of Kerr combs, the analysis of oscillatory instabilities (due to thermal effect) observed during our experiments, and conclue. The third chapter concerns photon-phonon interactions via stimulated Brillouin scattering in these resonators and their application to the generation of microwave signals. We present our experimental results and the temporal model that we developed to track the dynamics of the forward and backscattered fields. The last chapter conclude the thesis. The research presented in this thesis has benne funded by the European Research Council through the project Nextphase.

MORAVSKÉ VINAŘSKÉ CENTRUM BRNO / Moravian wine centre Brno

Vojtěšek, Jiří January 2016 (has links)
The city of Brno has always been a center of Moravian wine. The new draft of wine center responds to this reality and represents the grandeur of wineries in its full glory. Respect for nature, love for traditions and love for order/system are the main aspects of the design. The proposal is essentially open to the public, however, the necessary modesty is preserved. Conversely taciturnity of production part of buliding holds the secrets of the deep traditions of Viticulture and Enology. Designed buildings are used for production, wine storage, administration associated with the production, tasting and selling wine, conferences, accommodation and, finally, wellness and other activities. The size of the building is the result of an optimal design that does not interfere with nearby historical buildings. The emphasis is on minimizing costs both during construction and during operation. Flor plan shape resembling the letter L is oriented towards the west courtyard. This raises a unique viticultural area court with a wide staircase. The amphitheater can be used for seasonal exhibitions, pilgrimages or feast of local entertainment. The yard is connected with the street Hlinky, which paraphrases the historic entrance portals into winecellars. The northern part of the building bites into the ground and connects the original winecellars with new facilities. Small narrow windows reflects the desired taciturnity, just as it was with winecellars in South Moravia for centuries.

Galerie letecké techniky a tradic letectví na letišti Medlánky v Brně / Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in Brno

Blahová, Dagmar January 2016 (has links)
This thesis describes design gallery of aviation technology and traditions at the airport in Brno Part of my thesis is focused on urban solution of area layout its interconnections with near districts “Komín“ and “Medlánky“. There is new pedestrian, cycling paths, operational and logistic roads inside the complex layout. This design supposed to keep the two existing historic hangars and demolishing remaining buildings with subsequent completion of necessary objects. Priority and the main idea is to keep compositional and visual axis to ensure visual contact with all airport operational parts to ease of orientation. According to this principle is mass and platform solved with object “gallery”. This object in addition to the exhibition space is also used for administration and operation department of the gallery. In separate part there is ensured catering in form of restaurant with associated technical, operational and sanitary facilities. The gallery is designed to visually and physically separate section used by pilots and airport vehicles from visitors to avoid dangerous situation. Other buildings I have designed in my project are “the clubhouse”, airport administration, emergency accommodation, social activity space mainly designed for aircraft-model pilots and the air traffic control tower. These objects creates border between premises restricted for aero club and visitors.

Galerie letecké techniky a tradic letectví na letišti Medlánky v Brně / Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in Brno

Neveselá, Veronika January 2016 (has links)
The subject of my thesis is the project of Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in Brno. The project also includes urban solution of area airport in Medlánky and linking urban areas Medlánky and Komín by newly designed roads and walking paths. The area of airport consists of the two historic hangars and newly designed buildings for the servise and maintenance of aircraft, for the laboratories and the test room of aviation technology, from the control tower and the gallery aviation technology, in which there is also bistro-cafe. The building with gallery aviation technology formed a compact space for visitors with the other buildings, but at the same time the building is separated from the private area, where the planes are moving freely. In the building with gallery, there are besides the exhibition space designed also the bistro-cafe, areas for management and operation of gallery, technical and sanitary facilities, restoration workshop of historic aircraft, conference halls, meeting and training rooms, clubhouse and accommodation. The building serves as a curtural - public building, wheelchair accessible is available throughout the object.
