Synthèse et caractérisation de nanoparticules de conducteurs et de supraconducteurs moléculaires : Application à la thermoélectricité / Synthesis and characterisation of nanoparticles of molecular conductors and superconductors : Application to thermoelectricity

Chtioui Gay, Imane 17 December 2015 (has links)
In this work, we described the preparation of the first nanoparticles of molecule-based superconductors for which the growth has been controlled by the addition of neutral amphiphilic molecules (such as amines, imines, carboxylic acids). Our study focused on Bechgaard salts (TMTSF)2X (TMTSF: tetramethyltetraselenafulvalene, X = ClO4 or PF6) and (BEDT-TTF)2I3 (BEDT-TTF: bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene). The size, the morphology and the state of dispersion of the nanoparticles have been controlled by the nature and the concentration of the amphiphilic structuring agent. The particles have been characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR, Raman, UV-visible, photoelectron spectroscopy), X-Ray diffraction and microscopy (TEM and AFM). Small particles underwent a transition to a superconducting state, as evidenced by electrical resistivity or magnetic susceptibility measurements. Finally, the thermoelectric power of nano-objects of (BEDT-TTF)2I3 has been evaluated. Preliminary measurements of the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) make them potential candidates for future organic-based thermoelectric generators.

A trapped single ion inside a Bose-Einstein condensate

Zipkes, Christoph January 2011 (has links)
In recent years, improved control of the motional and internal quantum states of ultracold neutral atoms and ions has opened intriguing possibilities for quantum simulation and quantum computation. Many-body effects have been explored with hundreds of thousands of quantum-degenerate neutral atoms and coherent light-matter interfaces have been built. Systems of single or a few trapped ions have been used to demonstrate universal quantum computing algorithms and to detect variations of fundamental constants in precision atomic clocks. Now in our experiment we investigate how the two systems can be advantageously combined. We immerse a single trapped Yb+ ion in a Bose-Einstein condensate of Rb atoms. Our hybrid setup consists of a linear RF-Paul trap which is overlapped with a magnetic trap and an optical dipole trap for the neutral atoms. A first synergetic effect is the sympathetic cooling of the trapped ions to very low temperatures through collisions with the ultracold neutral gas and thus without applying laser light to the ions. We observe the dynamics of this effect by measuring the mean ion energy after having an initially hot ion immersed into the condensate for various interaction times, while at the same time monitoring the effects of the collisions on the condensate. The observed ion cooling effect calls for further research into the possibility of using such hybrid systems for the continuous cooling of quantum computers. To this end a good understanding of the fundamental interaction processes between the ion and the neutrals is essential. We investigate the energy dependent elastic scattering properties by measuring neutral atom losses and temperature increase from an ultracold thermal cloud of Rb. By comparison with a Monte-Carlo simulation we gain a deeper understanding of how the different parameters affect the collisional effects. Additionally, we observe charge exchange reactions at the single particle level and measure the energy-independent reaction rate constants. The reaction products are identified by in-trap mass spectrometry, revealing the branching ratio between radiative and non-radiative charge exchange processes.

Le, Trong Nhan 04 July 2014 (has links)
The limited energy and recharge cycles of batteries are crippling the design of autonomous Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). To overcome this issue, everlasting harvested energy and supercapacitor-based energy storage are considered as potential solutions to achieve a theoretically infinite lifetime. A Power Manager (PM) is embedded in each WSN node to respect the Energy Neutral Operation condition (ENO), which means harvested energy is equal to consumed energy for a long period. In this thesis, a set of PMs are proposed for energy harvesting WSN nodes to adapt their average consumed energy by changing the wake-up interval according to the available harvested energy. Our PMs are low complexity, independent of energy sources, small memory footprint and therefore, can be easily implemented on a real EH-WSN node. Another issue addressed in this thesis when considering a multi-hop EH-WSN is the effect of wake-up interval variations to the global QoS. Due to its low harvested energy, a relay node is impractical to synchronize with a transmitter if its wake-up interval regularly changes, therefore degrading the global QoS. A new power manager, named Wake-up Variation Reduction power manager (WVR-PM) is proposed to reduce the variations of the wake-up interval. By using WVR-PM, the throughput of a multi-hop EH-WSN can be improved up to 59% compare to state-of-the-art PMs while the average consumed energy for one successful communication is reduced by 45%.

Creation of entangled states of a set of atoms in an optical cavity / Création d'états intriqués d'un ensemble d'atomes dans une cavité optique

Haas, Florian 13 February 2014 (has links)
In this thesis, we demonstrate the creation and characterization of multiparticle entangled states of neutral atoms with the help of a high finesse cavity. Our experimental setup consists of a fibre-based high finesse cavity above the surface of an atom chip. It allows us to prepare an ensemble of 87Rb atoms with well-defined atom number. The atoms are trapped in a single antinode of an intracavity standing wave dipole trap and are therefore all equally coupled to the cavity mode. We present a scheme based on a collective, quantum non-destructive (QND) measurement and conditional evolution to create symmetric entangled states and to analyze them at the single-particle level by directly measuring their Husimi Q function. We use this method to create and characterize W states of up to 41 atoms. From the tomography curve of the Q function, we reconstruct the symmetric part of the density matrix via different reconstruction techniques and obtain a fidelity of 0.42. Furthermore, we have devised an entanglement criterion which only relies on comparing two populations of the density matrix. We use it to infer the degree of multiparticle entanglement in our experimentally created states and find that the state with highest fidelity contains at least 13 entangled particles. In addition, we show preliminary results on experiments to count the atom number inside a cavity in the QND regime and to create entangled states via quantum Zeno dynamics.

Garantované investiční fondy / Capital protected funds

Houdek, Ondřej January 2012 (has links)
This thesis is mainly focused on pricing securities of selected capital protected funds. In its theoretical part, there are summarized approaches and principals that are generally used for derivatives pricing because capital protected funds' securities contain embedded options. Emphasis is put on risk-neutral pricing using Monte Carlo simulation at that point because complicated pay-off functions of these funds are hard to be evaluated analytically. There are also presented main approaches to constructions and portfolio management of these funds from their portfolio manager's viewpoint. Finally, there is made an overview of basic types of capital protected funds issued both in The Czech republic and Europe. Analytical part is focused on evaluation of selected capital protected funds. There is applied a standard approach that is based on a simulation of Geometric Brownian Motion with constant conditional variance and correlation in contrast with an advanced approach where the conditional variance and conditional correlation matrix are simulated as well. That is accomplished with GARCH-in-mean and DCC-GARCH models. Estimated prices are compared with real market prices and there is also performance of the standard models compared with performance of advanced ones.

Rocha, Elise Amador January 2014 (has links)
The metacommunity theory paradigms attribute different degrees of importance to dispersal, environmental filtering, biotic interactions and stochastic processes in community assembly. To include the jointly use of functional traits with the spatial aspects of landscape structure could result in a powerful tool for the investigation of the different processes involved in the organization of biological communities. In this study, we used the potential of analysis and survey of hypotheses that functional traits provide in a fish metacommunity, composed by 37 lagoons in a river basin in the coastal region of southern Brazil (29º37' to 30°30' south latitude and 49º74' to 50°24' west longitude). The aims of this work were to identify the relation between taxonomic diversity indices with redundancy and functional diversity. Also, it was verified if spatial variables are determinants for the variation in functional indices, taxonomic and functional composition of fishes. We also look for trait convergence and trait divergence assembly patterns. Through geographic information systems (Spot e Landsat-TM5 images), these lagoons were mapped and were quantified structural variables (area, shape, distance to the ocean, coefficient of variation of area, primary connectivity and estuarine connectivity). Ichthyofauna data were obtained through standardized sampling, using gillnets, and a set of traits related to dispersal abilities and use of food resource were obtained. The taxonomic diversity showed to be strongly correlated with functional diversity and redundancy. The models that best explain the functional redundancy are those involving the shape and area variation coefficient, however, the functional diversity was not significantly predicted by any spatial variable. We did not find trait convergence and trait divergence assembly patterns, and lagoons that share similar spatial features do not have similar functional composition. Our results suggest that the neutral metacommunity paradigm is the approach which has the best explanation for the structure of this system, which predicts functional equivalence among species.

No. of bitstreams: 1 DanieliPerezFernandes-Dissertacao.pdf: 233120 bytes, checksum: b36de1201a14f62deb25bd103ba493b6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-11-09 / The objective was to evaluate this work through the intake and digestibility of linseed meal for sheep. A total of 12 female mongrel with body weight (BW) 30 kg were housed in cages for study of metabolism in the experimental period of 40 days (15 days for animal adaptation to experimental diets and 5 days for data collection in each phase). We used a randomized block design, to evaluate four diets (corn silage exclusively - SM, SM + concentrate; SM + concentrate + 5% linseed meal - FL, MS + concentrate + 10% FL) with three replications in two phases. A higher apparent digestibility of dry matter (DM) for calves fed concentrate diets, regardless of the proportion of linseed meal. The same effect was observed in the consumption of crude and digestible nutrients in kg / day, yet the inclusion of 10% linseed meal to the diet caused a decrease in consumption of about 138 g / day (gross nutrients) and 105 g / day ( digestible nutrients) compared to diet without linseed meal (0%). These results were very similar when expressed as% of BW and metabolic size (UTM (g/w0, 75). Inclusion of concentrate to the diet increases the digestibility of nutrients without detrimental effect of higher amount of linseed meal, However, this carries a slight decrease in DM. Therefore, we recommend using the diets containing concentrate and linseed meal in the proportions of 0 and 5%.

Tempo de armazenamento e manejo do painel no valor nutritivo de silagens de milho / Storage period and face management on the nutritional value of corn silage

Daniel Junges 06 October 2014 (has links)
In the experiment I, the aim was to evaluate the effects of microbial additives and length of storage on the quality of corn silage. Whole-corn plants were ensiled without or with inoculants containing homofermentative (Lactobacillus plantarum + Enterococcus faecium + Pediococcus acidilactici + cellulolytic and hemicellulolytic enzymes) or heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus buchneri) applied at 1 × 105 cfu/g. Treated forages were packed and stored in experimental silos for 3, 7, 15, 30, 60, 210, 390, 480, and 570 days. Samples were evaluated for chemical composition, fermentation end-products, microbial counts, fermentation losses, aerobic stability, and ruminal degradability in situ. Inoculants did not affect most of the variables studied. However, L. buchneri increased acetic acid concentration and decreased aerobic deterioration of silages, as indicated by the lower heat accumulation during the exposure to air. Soluble carbohydrates decreased across the storage period, reflecting the conversion of soluble sugars to fermentation end-products. Concentrations of prolamin decreased, whereas ammonia and soluble protein concentrations increased over the storage period, indicating the proteolysis. The silage pH declined rapidly in the first seven days of storage and remained stable for the remaining storage period, unlike for acetic acid concentration that increased with storage period. On the other hand, counts of lactic acid bacteria and yeasts decreased during the storage. Gas production and dry matter loss increased with the length of storage. The storage period increased all variables stability aerobic. Most of significant improvements in stability aerobic were observed during the first 60 days of storage. Ruminal degradability of starch and, consequently, dry matter increased along the storage. In the experiment II, the aim was to evaluate the influence of strategy of silage unload on the performance of dairy cows. Corn silage from a bunker silo was separated at unloading as silage from the upper half of the silo (top) or from the lower half of the silo (bottom) and used to compose total mixed rations fed to 24 lactating cows allocated in 12 randomized blocks, arranged in a cross-over design with 21 periods. Cows were housed in a tie-stall barn. All diets contained 60% of corn silage and were iso-nitrogen (16.5% CP) and iso-starch (17.0% of starch). Dry matter intake, milk yield and composition were determined from day 15 to 21 in each period. Although silage from bottom led to higher total tract DM digestibility and lower milk urea nitrogen concentration (8.95 vs. 11.35 mg/dL), most of evaluated variables were not affected by treatments. Under optimal silo management, the strategy used to unload corn silage does not affect the performance of dairy cows.

Acúmulo e valor nutritivo da forragem do capim Convert HD 364 (Brachiaria híbrida) sob taxas contrastantes de crescimento em resposta à altura do dossel mantida por lotação contínua / Forage accumulation and nutritive value of Convert HD 364 (Brachiaria hybrid) under contrasting growth rates in response to canopy height maintained by continuous stocking

Ianê Correia de Lima Almeida 13 October 2014 (has links)
Grazing management, however, is largely empirical in the country, and technical guidelines for managing specific grasses are either scarce or poorly adopted, which hinders the competitiveness of the activity. Establishing sound management guidelines for key grasses can improve animal output and profitability of the livestock enterprise. The objective was to describe and explain differences in the productive potential and the qualitative traits of Convert HD 364 brachiariagrass through the characterization of agronomic and sward structural attributes as well as forage nutritive in response to three grazing intensities and under two growth rates under continuous stocking and variable stocking rate in a mob-grazing experimental protocol. The study was conducted in Piracicaba, in summer of 2013. Experimental paddocks received treatments corresponding to all possible combinations among three sward heights (10, 25, and 45 cm) and two growth rates generated by two N rates (50 and 250 kg N ha-1) split-applied monthly during the experimental period. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with a factorial arrangement. Response variables included forage accumulation and accumulation rate, LAI, plant-part composition of forage on offer, as well as plant-part composition and nutritive value (crude protein - CP, neutral detergent insoluble fiber - NDF digestibility in vitro organic matter - IVDMD) of forage. The highest values of forage accumulation and accumulation rate were recorded for swards kept at 40 cm (12650 kg DM ha-1 yr-1 and 110 kg ha-1 d-1, respectively) and for swards fertilized with 250 kg N ha-1 (13974 kg DM ha-1 yr-1 and 126 kg DM ha-1 day-1, respectively). This same combination resulted the highest LAI (8.1). Forage mass was affected by sward height but not by N rates being higher for 40-cm (14650 kg DM ha-1). Treatments with higher N (250 kg ha-1) resulted in forage with a higher proportion of leaf (26%). Higher percentages of stem (40%) were measured in swards grazed at 40 cm and fertilized with 50 kg N ha-1 while the proportion of dead material was higher (49%) in 10-cm swards receiving 50 kg N ha-1 of N. Swards kept at 10 cm and receiving 50 kg N ha-1, although less productive, resulted in forage with higher IVOMD (670 g kg-1). Forage in 10-cm swards had 153 g kg-1 crude protein and that from swards receiving 250 kg N ha-1 had 165 g kg-1. Neutral detergent fiber concentration was higher in forage from 40-cm swards (545 g kg-1) and from those receiving 50 kg N ha-1 (550 g kg-1), which is also associated with the maturity of the tissues at the time of harvest. Nitrogen fertilization promotes gains in productivity and results in forage with better nutritive value, whereas increases in canopy height promote higher total accumulation and rate of herbage accumulation, up to 25 cm. The treatment that combines high productivity with high nutritive value is 25 cm canopy height and 250 kg ha-1.

Actitudes de un grupo de adolescentes mexicanos hacia el lenguaje inclusivo : Alternativas al masculino genérico / Attitudes of a group of Mexican teenagers towards inclusive language

Lundberg, Valeria January 2020 (has links)
Language and culture are deeply intertwined. Language reflects and influences the attitudes, perceptions and behaviors of its users. Therefore, the use of non-sexist language can contribute to achieving gender equality in society. This study focuses on the perceptions of a group of Mexican teenagers towards inclusive language. In particular, their acceptance degree towards various gender morphemes are studied and compared to the generic use of the masculine gender. The results of the survey show a clear preference for the alternatives that are easy to pronounce, so called, normative gender morphemes, including the generic use of the masculine compared to new, non-normative gender morphemes that are inclusive but difficult to pronounce. Women prefer the splitting strategy (“desdoblamiento”) to a larger degree than men do. Men have a more conservative posture and prefer the generic use of the masculine and reject non-normative gender morphemes. The differences among informants of different socioeconomic levels are smaller. Still, it seems that informants of a higher socioeconomic level have a more conservative attitude towards inclusive language than informants of a lower socioeconomic level.
