At the same time, in the classroom space, the repression of feelings consolidates intensely. In this context, Youtube seems to be the scene of regressive catharsis by students. Aiming to understand how to (re)configure the relationships between teachers and students on new spaces of expression, this research investigates eight videos, posted on YouTube by students, showing the tension between the actors of the educational process, based on Critical Theory and Psychoanalysis. Thus, it presents one of the greatest challenges of education today: a new relationship between students and teachers as from the dialogue about and through digital technologies.

Não ser, eis a questão: a constituição da identidade do professor inclusivo / Not to be, that is the question. The constitution of the identity of the teachers inclusive

Cibelle Carlos Sousa Lima 04 October 2010 (has links)
This academic work proposes to outline some reflections on the constitution of teachers identities inclusive and their formative processes socio-cultural. This is a bibliographical research, of a qualitative approach and methodology dialetic of analysis. Historically the process of social and educational inclusion has repercussion overall and fights for the guaranteeing the rights to education of any person independent of its sociocultural, biological or psychological, conditions that is, all have the right to education whatever their difference or diversity. However, one of major barriers of this movement is the discrimination and prejudice. Barrier that allied to the challenge of objective conditions of the school (namely: their economic, social, cultural conditions and political structure and functioning) make such challenge almost impossible. In the face of the historical context of the mass education in a capitalist society and technological cooperation, the movement of inclusive education is considered as an attempt of given plot social wishes that produce changes in order to contribute with the perpetuation of contradiction: speeches of social inclusion in a society that maintains the practice of exclusion. However, aware of the limitations that movement, I turn to Critical thinking in the search of alternatives reflective to interrupt this historical movement and leading us to emancipating. A reading theoreticalcritical, die dialectic, contributes to our work in so far as points out that the objective conditions of processing are impossible, being necessary to consider the subjective, that is, the recovery of the subjects and their awareness, in addition to its social role objective and participatory. In this sense my work to turn-on training and the constitution of the identity of the teachers objective provoke reflection and critical, in order to overcome the ideas and models, processes of reification, subjectivities administered and others sore spots of modern thought. Inclusive education must exceed limits, be bold, subversive and rekindle the ability and vocation to educate.

Implantação das diretrizes curriculares para cursos de graduação em odontologia no Brasil: contradições e perspectivas / Implementation of curricular guidelines for undergraduate dental schools in Brazil: contradictions and perspectives

Celso Zilbovicius 07 December 2007 (has links)
The objective of this research was to make an analysis of the changes trends in dental education in Brazil facing the necessity of implementation of the curricular guidelines for undergraduate dental schools, which were approved in 2002. The theoretical reference includes the perspectives of higher education in Brazil in a neoliberal context, including health education and particularly dental education pointing out the contradiction of the formation in this field in a country that has a crescent number of schools in all its territory without responding to the oral health necessities of significant portions of the Brazilian population. The methodology used the results of a quantitative analysis obtained from the evaluation instrument used during the workshops carried out by the Brazilian Dental Education Association (ABENO) during 2005 and 2006. This instrument enabled each participant to evaluate his institution and the innovation degree in face of the curricular guidelines according to 3 axes: the theoretical orientation of the course; its pedagogical approach and practice sceneries. Each axis had 3 variables corresponding to the theme analyzed and each participant could evaluate it according to three possible stages (1-more conservative, 2-intermediate and 3-more innovative). 48 dental schools were analyzed (being 23 public and 25 private) with a total of 1229 participants (711 professors; 228 students and 14 functionaries. The results showed a high degree of incipient innovation (52, 9%) followed by a degree of partial innovation (40, 2%). These results were confirmed for all variables analyzed (type of institution, region in the country, type of occupation and faculty field). The instrument allows the affirmation that most dental schools maintain a technicist pedagogical approach, without integration between disciplines and with a few number of practice sceneries which would allow the student to be formed in the logic of the Brazilian Unified health System (SUS), keeping a classical approach of the dental education according to the conceptions of Gies and Charles Godon in the beginning of the XX Century. The qualitative analysis of the facilitators reports of the workshops which has as objective to analyze the discourse of the participants during the workshops which were pointed out by the facilitator showed the unknowing of the curricular guidelines by the dental academic community as well as the principles of the Brazilian Health System (SUS) ; the absence of integration between the public health service network and the schools and low number of practice sceneries in the public health system; the low level of pedagogical formation of dental faculties as well as resistance to changes that tend toward a formation in a logic of community health. The discussion was carried out from the perspective of the critical theory of education and curriculum which deals in a dialectical manner with concepts like ideology, hegemony, social reproduction, political relations of power and domination and hidden curriculum considering that resistance to transformations and changes in dental education are linked to a political and ideological project of it and it is very connected to a capitalist logic, mostly addressed to the dominant classes in a perspective of technical development leading to private and commercial practice of the profession opposing and maintaining a distance from the perspectives of the actual curricular guidelines and therefore keeping it resistance in incipient and partial levels of change as showed by the quantitative analysis of the workshops. The necessity of transforming dental education impose changes in the political and pedagogical projects of the schools and these must be built in a collective manner with the various actors of the educational process involved; a pedagogical formation of the faculty; extension of integration between the public health system and dental schools permitting a real and significant transformation of the curriculum and revision of contents taught leading to a transversal axis of the curriculum of undergraduate dental schools focusing the integrality of the health/disease process.

Merkityksen ongelma kasvatustieteessä:lähtökohtia pedagogisen toiminnan perusrakenteen semioottiseen analyysiin

Pikkarainen, E. (Eetu) 23 April 2004 (has links)
Abstract This study is about the meaning of education and the concept of meaning. The main aim is to develop a meta-theoretical object theory of education i.e. a theory about the research object of science of education, one which would be a valid reflection basis both for methodological and meta-theoretical questions of educational scientific research and for general pedagogical discussions. The development is based on the continental tradition of general pedagogy which acknowledges the pedagogical paradox by distinguishing between the concepts of educational influence and Bildung, and sees the need to unite them in the concept of pedagogical action. The basic ideas of general pedagogy are analyzed and explicated using the concepts developed in Greimassian semiotics. For example, the Greimassian core concepts like subject, competence, performance and manipulation offer good reasons for its use also in a pedagogical context. The semiotic theory is modified to make it more suitable for typical pedagogical questions. This is done by making the concept of meaning its basic concept. The aim is to make a dynamic and flexible theory which would better encapsulate an action which utilizes different semiotic systems and transfers from one system to another, like pedagogical action transfers from bio-semiotic communication to language and culture. The concept of meaning is approached firstly by relating it to the concepts of causality and structure. The analysis arrives at a result whereby, in spite of the close connections, the meaning relationship must be differentiated from causal relationships, and that only living beings can have meaning relationships. The meanings are based on the action of organisms and the semiotic competence of organisms is their precondition. Furthermore, the linguistic and cultural meanings of human beings must be distinguished as a special area with special features, like a partial or apparent detachment from immediate action and collectively binding semiotic systems which are changing historically because of people's action. Pedagogical action as a whole can be understood to be a meaningful object, with a deep structure that can be analyzed with semiotic concepts as a tension between the basic values of Nature and Culture. Following the semiotic theory of the generation of meaning, the structure of pedagogical action is analyzed as interaction of subjects who are trying to solve the tension between the basic values. The most important task for the follow-up studies is the continuation of the analysis to the empirical surface of the pedagogical action.

Effect of Political Skill on Perception of Organizational Politics and Work Withdrawal among Community College Employees

Ross, David John 01 January 2011 (has links)
Community college student support services are an important aspect of success among community college students. Theoretical and empirical models of organizational politics and withdrawal guided the expectation that community college employees who perceive their organizations as political may withdrawal from their organization, diminishing the services delivered to students at the institution. A multisite cross-sectional survey design was utilized to gather quantitative data via Survey Monkey from national professional organizations. Two-hundred seventeen usable surveys from community college administrators (executive, mid-level managers, and administrators) were gathered. Data were analyzed via correlation and regression models to examine if political skill reduced or moderated the relationship between perception of organizational politics and work withdrawal behaviors. Employee political skill was a partial antidote, reducing the effect of organizational politics on withdrawal behaviors, but there was not a significant interaction moderating effect. Recommendations include political skill training for community college administrators as part of their professional development program, as well as including graduate education components and new employee orientation programs. Such training could lead to positive social change in community college settings by increasing levels of service and job satisfaction and reducing attrition among community college administrators, leading to higher levels of community college student satisfaction and graduation rates.

O adolescente e a internet: laços e embaraços no mundo virtual / Adolescents and the Internet: connections and entanglements in the virtual world.

Prioste, Cláudia Dias 22 March 2013 (has links)
In light of the wide access to the information and communication technologies (ICT) in the contemporary society, which by promising limitless virtual world exert strong power of attraction on the young people, we consider it is necessary to analyze the ideological mechanisms of psychological manipulation in action by the global culture industry in young subjectivity. Thus, the present study aimed to identify the adolescent habits and interests in cyberspace in order to understand the possible consequences in their subjective constitution. This empirical research was divided into two phases performed simultaneously: the first one was composed by an ethnographic journey through cyberculture, aiming to find out the economic interests behind the sites most visited by the adolescents; the second phase was carried out in one public and one private school placed in the same neighborhood in São Paulo, where 108 questionnaires were applied to the 13 to 16-year-old boys and girls students in the last year of Secondary School. In the public school, participant observation was the approach used in the Educational Computing classes. Interviews were done in both schools with the students known as the most connected to the internet as well as additional interviews with the teachers, coordinators, and principals. Data interpretation and analysis were based on philosophy of education, critical theory and psychoanalysis. We have found that the adolescent favorite activities consisted of frequently going to social networks, playing games, watching videos, visiting celebrities home pages and pornography. We concluded that the adolescents are mainly attracted to cyberspace for their possibility to exercise virtual fantasies and feel accepted by their group. Among the boys prevailed omnipotent and sadistic fantasies with the following thematic features: the terrorist/policeman, the hero/supernatural, the hacker/expert. Among the girls, romantic fantasies were usual and involved mainly these themes: the beloved/chosen, the mother/baby, the celebrity. We noticed that the virtual fantasies are produced by the audiovisual industry generally out of perverse-polymorphic components reedited, identified by T.W. Adorno as psychoanalysis in reverse. When the adolescents get fixed to virtual fantasies by means of imagetic digital prostheses, their capacity of apprehending their own experiences in life suffers significant changes, hindering their reflection about them. The libidinal investment in televisual devices, reduced to scopophiliac gratification and constant excitement of the senses, doesnt contribute to the epistemophilic assumption - which results in imaginary and symbolic impoverishing. In cyberspace the adolescents have their protection rights violated since their psychism are still in process of development. Interests in making money seem to prevail over any ethical dimension involved. In this context, rather than being an important instrument to expand knowledge and social participation, the way the internet has being used it has contributed to the alienation and fixation in narcissistic gratification. Therefore, we have concluded that digital inclusion is important - meaning ICTs appropriation in the school environment - but also young peoples effective critical thinking formation with regard to the media, in order to offer them conditions to reflect about the fictions where they are inserted in.

A linguistic ethnography of learning to teach English at Japanese junior high schools

Hall, James M. January 2017 (has links)
The study examined three Japanese junior high-school English teachers’ initial years of full-time employment. It investigated the type of pedagogical puzzles these teachers experienced, how their practice developed over 18 months, and my role as a Teacher of Teachers (TOT). Drawing on linguistic ethnography, this study took an ethnographic approach to understanding the teachers’ social context and used techniques from discourse analysis to consider how they interpreted their puzzles and constructed their practice. These techniques were also used to analyze my working relationship with the teachers. The purpose of this endeavor was to contribute to the understanding of novice teacher development in an ‘expanding circle’ country. Over the course of the study, I observed the teachers’ classes and interviewed them once or twice a month. Using the coding of interview transcripts and class fieldnotes, I identified Critical Incidents that represented the teachers’ pedagogical puzzles and typical practice, as well as my role as a TOT. Using Cultural Historical Activity Theory(CHAT), I analyzed how elements of the social context brought about the teachers’ pedagogical puzzles and affected their capacity to address them. Coding of the interviews and a microanalysis of the interactions showed my role as a TOT. Overall, the CIs gave an emic portrait of each teacher’s experience and my efforts to support them. The pedagogical puzzles the teachers faced were a result of their personal histories and school conditions. These puzzles did not change, which indicates that teachers will face complex issues that cannot be resolved. Understanding them, however, can promote teacher development. Applying CHAT, I could identify the conditions that helped determine the types of pedagogy in which teachers engaged. I tried to fulfill my role as a TOT by conducting a form of reflective practice (RP). An examination of the RP I conducted with the teachers challenged the notion that it involves the sequential steps of identifying issues, attempting to resolve them, and reflecting on one’s efforts. This dissertation concludes with a discussion about the contributions it has made toward the field of English teacher development: using CHAT to understand the English teaching experiences, the development of an understanding of RP as it can be carried out in the field, an understanding of novice teachers in expanding circle countries, and the value of linguistic ethnography for researching novice teachers.

Spår av grundtankar i Vygotskijs teori i gymnasieskolan : En studie om hur Vygotskijs socio-kulturella teoribildning återspeglas i gymnasielärares syn på lärande / Tracks of basic thoughts in Vygotsky’s theory in the high school : A study about how Vygotskijs socio-cultural theory of education is reflected in high school teachers’ sight on learning

Andersson, Svetlana, Elmefeldt, Iréne January 2010 (has links)
Aim with the study was that through high teachers’ statements apply for tracks of basic thoughts of Vygotsky’s theory education in their sights on learning. This is to ascertain what criteria teachers assume when they do their didactic choices in the education and how Vygotsky’s basic thoughts are reflected in teachers’ sights on learning. Our study bases itself on qualitative interviews where four teachers from two high schools were participated. After the transcription, the analysis was done on the basis of the four aspects that characterize the socio-cultural perspective according to Vygotsky’s theory of education: the social, the mediated, the situated and the creative aspects. We chose to use the hermeneutic method for analyze of our result where we used relevant research in order to strengthen our interpretation of teachers’ statements. In the study the teachers expressed that interaction and dialogue are important elements in the education. We also have found tracks from the mediated aspects there teachers as a mediator has an active role, but that they at the same time recommend a traditional education. Our conclusion is that teachers are not based their learning on some specific scientific theory. We however have interpreted that the teachers when they choose a method, prefer to reflect over how students are getting knowledge instead of what students shall learn and develop. That sight on learning as we possibly can discern on the basis of teachers’ statements is a mixture of different theories that has been influenced by Vygotsky’s theory of education.
