Previous issue date: 2014-10-30 / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / This research analyses the artistic creation process of a short animation film called the Tempest. Created in 2010, by Brasilian director Cesar Cabral at the Coala Film Studios (Santo André, São Paulo). The audiovisual production was shown at the 14th. Festival of English Culture. The narrative tells the fable of a lonely and passionate sailor confronting a storm. The creative procedural critique is basis of the methodology used in this research. It follows, step by step the creation and consequently the different manuscripts and ideas of a creative body whose understanding of the key elements produced different results. Through study of sketches, art direction layouts, still photographs, interviews with creators and annotations in different languages. Also included are tests and trials of the software used for editing. Without prior assumptions, the object of this work is to indicate and discuss the intersemiotic translations which constitute the Tempest and the contributions and dialogues established between the creators of the animation. The results were planned in graphical form to show the significant and possible meanings of the work under study.

REDUÇÃO PLENA DO DEÔNTICO AO ÔNTICO / DEONTIC TO ONTIC FULL REDUCTIONLindner, Diogo 06 March 2008 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The current dissertation has as its main objective an exposition and critical analysis of
Charles Kielkopf's translation of the Standard Deontic Logic (SDL) into a normal alethic logic,
and the resulting construction of a system of deontic logic that captures Kantian fundamental
concepts and principles such as the concept of causal necessity and the formulations of the
Categorical Imperative concerning Kingdom of Nature and Kingdom of Ends. Since this
process results in an interpretation of aspects of the Kantian philosophy, it has been chosen,
initially, a presentation in general lines of these concepts and, considering the difficulties
regarding the applicability of a translation process between deontic and ontic principles, it
was done necessary also an exhibition concerning the problem of the inferential barriers, as
well as of his more immediate consequence, i. e., Jörgensen's Dilemma. In a second
moment, it was also made a characterization of normal modal systems, deontic ones and
alethic ones, as well as of the notions of translation between logics and of Dawson modelling.
The final chapter consists of a critical examination of Kielkopf's proposal, which uses Dawson
modelling to develop a deontic logic based on the alethic system K1. Such Dawson
modelling allows the definition of a deontic modalities in terms of iterated alethic modalities,
therefore this model constitutes a way of avoiding the problems regarding inferential barriers.
The development of an alternative for attribution of logical status to deontic concepts doesn't
constitute, however, in an innovative aspect of this proposal, such aspect can be founded in
the use made by Kielkopf of his formal model as a tool for the investigation of philosophical
concepts, such as the Kantian concepts already mentioned.

This thesis advocates a complementary relationship between the practices of travel literature and translation, seen as important disseminators of the image of a literature and culture beyond their national and linguistic boundaries. We also support the importance of both activities in the formation of Brazilian national literature, through the action of important mediators between our nation and the community centers with which Brazil conversed throughout its history. For this, we examined the course of four travelers translators from different national origins and historical moments, providing a brief overview of our cultural relations with foreign countries. We have selected as the subject of our study: the Frenchman Ferdinand Denis, who was in Brazil in 1816, the Englishman Sir Richard Burton, who lived in the country between 1865-69 as British consul, the French-Swiss Blaise Cendrars, who visited the country for three times in the 1920s, and American Elizabeth Bishop, poet who lived in Brazil between 1951 and 1971. Each developed its own trajectory, spreading their own images of Brazil around the world, and acting at different levels to influence our writers. Denis was a key figure in the rise of the Romantic movement in Brazil, the first author of a literary history to separate Brazilian literature from the Portuguese. Burton was a pioneer in translating our literature into English. Cendrars worked with our first generation of modernist writers in developing a national Brazilian modern art. And Bishop was the introducer of modern Brazilian literature in English. Together, the trajectories of these four travelers-translators remake a long and important period of our cultural history, showing how the foreign presence have participated in the development of our national literature and culture / Doutorado / Historia e Historiografia Literaria / Doutor em Teoria e História Literária

Ensino de isometrias na educação básica: uma aplicação didática em sala de aula / Teaching isometrics in basic education: a didactic application in the classroomDebora Costa Cona 18 May 2017 (has links)
In this dissertation we present a sequence of non-traditional activities, focusing on the teaching and learning of Geometry, in particular regarding the Isometrics in the Plan, elaborated for elementary school students, and the result of its application to eight classes of 9th grade , As a way to develop students\' reasoning skills. We used for this experiment the Design Experiment, a teaching experiment based on continuous improvement, and Van Hiele\'s theory based on Adela Jaime-Pastor\'s (1993) doctoral thesis, with a series of activities elaborated and applied by the teacher/researcher involving the translations and the reflections, through the phases of learning and levels of reasoning that the students develop with the application of this theory. This experiment was divided in two moments, application with four classes of 9th grade in 2015 and application with four other groups of 9th grade in 2016, subdivided into two other situations, activities on translations and activities on reflections. The data of this experiment were obtained through the productions of the students, who worked in doubles, in the classroom, recorded through photos, videos and audios recorded by the researcher herself. We also used the paper dolls of Brigitte Servatius (1997), with which we worked on translations and reflections. The students participating in the experiment finalized it with solid notions of the characteristics of the isometries and a visible progress in their level of knowledge. The way the activities were carried out brought reflexes to the routine of these students in the classroom, making it evident that the search for situations that arouse the students\' interest in an innovative way can generate better results and the motivation of continuous learning.

tecnologias / Abstract: This study presents a historical retrospective of experimental poetry that comprehends the period from Ancient Greece to present production, focusing on the main artistic and poetic movements of the 20th century, among them the most recent ones, which utilize electronic and digital technologies. Through the application of the semiotical theory,
especially Charles S. Peirce¿s theory, it attempts to interpret some fundaments of experimental poetry and, afterwards, going into the theory of intersemiotical translation, developed by Julio Plaza. Based on this theory along with fundaments of the theory of information, the study aims to analyse the dynamics of the processes in which visual and verbal poems made in conventional media (print) have been translated into new

A Study on the Artemis Fowl Series in the Context of Publishing SuccessLindve, Katarina January 2007 (has links)
A close reading of a series of books by Eoin Colfer that enjoyed universal success showed a change in the language between the books especially with respect to minor linguistic features such as choice of location and abstract vs. concrete language. The books are about the boy Artemis Fowl, and were presumably conceived as children’s books. My original thesis was that the writer could not be sure of the success of the first book, but would definitely be aware of a worldwide audience for at least his third book, due to, for example, questions raised by the translators. If the original audience was expected to be Irish, or British, with very much the same cultural background as the author’s, the imagined subsequent audiences would change with success. My hope was to be able to show this by comparing linguistic features. And indeed, even though some changes could be due to coincidence there was a specific pattern evolving in the series, in that the originally Irish cultural background became less exclusive and more universal. The writer also used more details concerning locations, with added words to specify a place. What could thus be expected in the translated versions would be omissions and additions in especially the first book, but less need for that in later books. This, however, could not be proven in the Swedish translations. I thus conclude that the books became easier to follow for a wider, in this case Swedish, audience mostly because of efforts by the author and less because of the translator.

Flores och Blanzeflor : L’amour courtois dans la Suède du XIVème siècle / Flores och Blanzeflor and courtly love in XIVth century SwedenReiter, Virgile 23 November 2015 (has links)
Holm. D 4 par Emil Olson. / Flores och Blanzeflor is a 1312 Old Swedish version of the French roman Le Conte de Floire et Blanchefleur. The text is part of the Eufemiavisorna, a group of three continental romans translated into Old Swedish at the beginning of the XIVth century by an unknown cleric on the order of Queen Eufemia of Norway, possibly to celebrate her daughter’s marriage to Duke Erik of Sweden. The present thesis argues that those translations can be read as political acts from Queen Eufemia. The translations allowed her to project her voice in the political space while still conforming to the social norms of her time. Flores och Blanzeflor is as such closely related with the political turmoil that preoccupied the Scandinavian aristocracy at the beginning of the XIVth century, a turmoil centered around the conflict between Duke Erik and his brother Duke Valdemar on one side and their brother King Birger on the other. Flores och Blanzeflor with its insistence on good relations between the king and the aristocracy and its depiction of a peaceful crusade reflects the preoccupations of the Scandinavian aristocracy at the time. The roman’s focus on providing an example of positive conduct with the Blanzeflor character can also be interpreted as a desire from Eufemia to provide her daughter with models of conduct for her future marriage. The present thesis includes a translation of Flores och Blanzeflor into Modern French based on the 1956 edition of Cod. Holm. D4 by Emil Olson.
