Designing a website to mitigate involuntary loneliness

Wiktorson, Erika, Thiel, Rebecca January 2022 (has links)
Involuntary loneliness is today considered to be a public health problem, and studies show that feeling lonely can have major negative effects on one's health. Project Omtanke and the social administration in Helsingborg has mapped a big problem with loneliness in Helsingborg, and has come to the conclusion that they need a website with the purpose of mitigating loneliness. Thus, this research project explores how a website should be designed to make people feel less lonely.  This thesis essay explores the research question with the approach Research Through Design (RtD). The research was conducted by conducting user research, creating a prototype and validating the design with users.  This thesis has come to the conclusion that a website with the purpose of supporting lonely individuals should include content providing help and support to all relevant target groups, such as educational content and help alternatives. It should also be designed with the goal to decrease the gap between available help and the people in need of help, by increasing awareness and reassuring personal relevance of available help. The website should also include functions that promote social contact between people, and be designed with the goal of being perceived as inclusive. The website prototype that was created in this thesis was well received by potential users. The users expressed in the validation of the website that they would like to use it, and that they believe it could help them with their loneliness.

Have you ever had a terrible online shopping experience? / Have you ever had a terrible online shopping experience?

Qu, Mengran, Xu, Luqi January 2020 (has links)
Background: Nowadays, the development of the internet makes online shopping more popularized . The appearance of online shopping brings considerable benefits to customers, however, there are still risks in the area. To maintain good relationship management between customers and companies, it is necessary to understand the online customer experience and its relevant important factors . Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explain the impact of three factors (low-quality delivery, low-quality online customer service, and low-quality website design) on online customer experience. Methodology: The paper used a quantitative approach in cross-sectional design and collected totally 78 responses. The related data collection is conducted through a self-completion questionnaire in the online form.  Findings: The negative impacts of low-quality online customer service and low-quality website design on online customer experience are confirmed. There is an effective and strong connection between low-quality website design and low-quality online customer service. Conclusion: Based on the findings, H2 and H3 cannot be rejected but H1 needs to be rejected. One can therefore say that even in the context of rapid technological development, modern online shoppers have not changed their aversion to low-quality elements, that the view that low-quality online customer service and low-quality website design negatively affect OCE has not changed.

Spela plattformsspel som hemläxa – spel med fokus på läromaterial enligt läroplanen

Hansson, Rasmus, Gajic, Milan January 2018 (has links)
There are many positive things about using games in education, for instance it can improve bothmotivation and commitment. But there are also a lot of obstacles, it might require the teacher to spend alot of time to engage with a game and learn a specific game and it might be hard to customize the game’scontent according to the curriculum which could make the tuition slow and ineffective. This study’spurpose is to investigate whether the homework can be performed while playing digital games in aefficient and fun way. The report describes a game where the teacher can customize the content accordingto the curriculum. The idea is to make it possible for students to do their homework while playing thisgame and the teachers will automatically be able to receive the results and customize the tuition accordingto it. The initial prototype will focus on the subject math.

Characterization of phishing website characteristics / Karakterisering av egenskaper hos phishing domäner

Karlström, Axel, Kihlberg Gawell, Elsa January 2022 (has links)
The occurrence of phishing domains are increasing continuously as attackers are able to make use of tool kits that creates the phishing websites for them. When knowledge in web development is no longer needed, anyone can perform a phishing attack and existing detection methods can not seem to keep up. Finding new techniques to identify these malicious domains are crucial to protect the potential victims visiting the website. Many of the existing methods are focusing on the visual appearance of the websites. This thesis choose to focus on the underlying structure instead. By collecting data on style sheets and certificates from both verified phishing domains and benign domains, datasets were created for both types of domains. Using a token-based similarity algorithm on the collected style sheet data, subsets were created based on style sheet similarity. Our analysis were focused on three main parts of the results, the characteristics of phishing domains compared to benign domains, the created subsets based on style sheet similarities and the matching style sheets in two of the subsets. The characteristics of the phishing domains were for the most part rather different compared to the benign domains, except for similarities found in the data on the style sheets. The created subsets using style sheet similarities where grouped into three datasets based on the amount of matching style sheets. The three datasets, despite originating from the same dataset, proved to have distinct differences in characteristics. From the two chosen subsets, one of the subsets contained style sheets indicating the domains in the subset were created by a phishing kit. We conclude that a method based on structural similarities to identify both phishing kits and phishing domains is possible to implement. Our methodology shows the possibilities of this method, but further development and research are required to make it reliable.
