Presence and Quality of Catch and Release Information and Guidelines on Fishing Tourism Operators' Websites in Sweden

Hanindyawan Handoko, Jody Raditya January 2018 (has links)
Abstract: Recreational fishing is one of popular outdoor activities and a growing business in Sweden. However, preceding researches had shown that recreational fisheries may contribute to overfishing as much as commercial fisheries. One of the ways to reduce anglers’ impact on fish populations is the practice of releasing caught fish (catch and release; C&R). C&R is often seen as an ethical and sustainable way of fishing that supports fish conservation. Anglers may obtain C&R information and guidelines from different sources, such as fishing club, fishing magazines, state agencies. As the internet is increasingly becoming an important source for anglers to obtain updated fishing information, fishing tourism operators could be a principal actor to provide C&R information and guidelines through their websites. At the same time there is lack of information on the presence and quality of C&R information at Swedish websites. As international tourists are important group of anglers that use tourism operators’ services, and due to the language limitation of the author, this study focused on websites in English language. Therefore, this study aimed at investigating the presence and quality of C&R information and guidelines in English language provided by fishing tourism operators’ websites in Sweden. The study followed the quantitative content analysis approach by assigning categories and counting the frequencies in the text found on the fishing tourism operators’ websites. First, the websites were scanned to check if C&R information was present. Then, the number of clicks needed to retrieve this information was counted to measure its accessibility. Finally, a C&R information quality score was calculated by adding up scores based on different type and quality of the information found on the websites, including 12 criteria of the C&R best practice guidelines developed by Sims and Danylchuk (2017). The study found that 66 out of 151 analyzed websites provided C&R information and guidelines which generally easily  accessed (two clicks on average). However, in general the websites had a low average quality score of the C&R information and guidelines. Moreover, there was a high variability in how the information was presented on the websites, suggesting lack of standardized guidelines that fishing tourism operators could refer to. Consequently, there is a need to encourage and support more fishing tourism operators to provide a high quality C&R information and guidelines on their websites.

Click Me Out To The Ballgame: Exploring City Websites To Assess The Civic Priorities of Small and Mid-sized Communities With Minor League Baseball Teams

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: The boom in publicly-funded sports facility construction since the 1980s resulted in studies that generally found the economic benefits accruing from facility construction do not justify the costs. However, focusing narrowly on economic costs in large cities leaves out an important part of the story. The author is interested in the possible non-economic benefits to a city from having a sports team and stadium, and focuses on determining any relationship between minor league teams and stadiums and community self-image. The methodology for this review is an assessment of the websites – primarily the website's front page – for 42 cities with minor league baseball teams. In addition, a survey of local government officials provides a layer of corroboration for the website review results. Through this assessment, the author brings together elements that contribute to three different fields – facility financing, e-government, and small and mid-sized cities. The website reviews have two elements. First, the author assesses the extent to which the website provides information about the team and stadium on the front page or a website page within two links from the front page. The result is that a relatively low amount of information about teams and stadiums is available on the 42 city websites. Second, the author assesses all the active links on the website front page and categorize the links regarding whether they are primarily directed toward residents, businesses, or tourists. On average 67 percent of the links on the 42 city websites' front pages are directed toward residents. In addition to the website reviews, the author reports on a survey of local government executives and managers regarding the city websites. The key findings from the survey are that residents are the group of most interest to the website creators; the websites' content and appearance generally are intended to reflect the communities' self-image, and; in general, the low amount of information about the teams and stadiums on the website front page accurately represents the importance of the teams and stadiums to communities' self-image. The survey results generally corroborate the website reviews. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Public Administration 2012

Implementation of a Software Extraction Process

Wang, Yue January 2008 (has links)
Software metrics are a useful tool for assessing software quality and for making predictions. But currently the interpretation of the measured values is based on personal experience and gut feeling. Not much information is available about thresholds and possible ranges of the metric values. In order to be able to define thresholds on which general recommendations could be based, quantitative data has to be obtain for allowing statistical evaluations and further investigations. So far the collection of test projects requires significant manual interaction for downloading and describing metadata. This thesis describes a process for automatically obtaining, storing and maintaining a large number of open software projects from SourceForge.NET [1]. The projects are stored in a local folder structure; the meta-data is stored in a local database. The process is automated as far as possible, repeatable, transparent, extendible and flexible.

The Love in time of Internet : Rrason and emotion in the search the couple online of chileans

Tello navarro, Felipe 06 September 2017 (has links)
This study analyzes the pages of online dating, more specifically, the interpretation that Chilean surfers perform these virtual spaces; interactions that occur within these web portals; and the sense that national users associate with their interactions. To answer these objectives not only a number of methods of collection and analysis of information is used, but in turn, the data generated is inserted in a wide theoretical discussion about love and relationships. Thus, in the first part of this work, the imagery of love is analyzed from its main myths and stories. Subsequently the historical and sociological constitution of relationships is analyzed. Epistemological, methodological and ethical implications of research on the Internet are discussed to end the first part of this study; and, in turn, the present the steps, procedures and techniques for the collection and analysis of empirical data. The second part of this study are the results of research. This section briefly presents the national context in which the pages of encounter emerge ; Of course, the opinion held by Chilean internet websites on matchmaking; then the start of virtual interaction is described and shown as follows this achievement similar to the offline parameters; subsequently, the transition from online to offline; the last stage of this description is the "post-date"; to complete the second part of this work, and as a corollary, some reflections on the differentiated use that men and women dating sites are established. Finally, the conclusions of this study returns to the research questions. Here it is stated that dating sites are an ambiguous space for Chilean source of distrust, along with also being a place of desire and hope of finding that "special" person, or places to establish a one-night stand or a long-term relationship. In turn, it noted that digital interactions that arise from the meeting pages, participate in their own social, cultural and economic trends of modern love, which enables people to combine, not without some degree of conflict, reason and emotion in matchmaking. And finally, it states that "romantic love" is a framework of meaning used by people, especially the women within the meeting pages, and therefore it is possible to note that love survives the Internet.

[en] PAR PERFEITO: A NEW VIRTUAL SPACE TO LOOK FOR ROMANCE PARTNERS / [pt] PAR PERFEITO: UM NOVO ESPAÇO VIRTUAL PARA A PROCURA DE PARCEIROS AMOROSOS

ERIKA FALCAO RAMALHO 19 July 2005 (has links)
[en] The appereance of Internet has brought enormous and important transformations around the world. In matters related to interpersonal relationships, it has allowed the beginning of a new kind of relationship: the virtual relationship. This type of relationship was common, specially, in chats, in which people used to communicate with each other. Some time later, relationship websites appeared. These websites offer a virtual space to stimulate the search for romance partners. The present work aims to investigate the reasons why women and men are using the biggest relationship website in Brazil called Par Perfeito. In order to identify all reasons, it was made a qualitative research, in which 16 Par Perfeito users were interviewed. The analysis of their answers reveals that they decided to subscribe in the website because they wanted to know people from the opposite sex and to have a love relationship in the real world. The main advantage mentioned by the users of the site, is the believe that: (1) the approach is easier in Par Perfeito and the rejection possibility is faced in a less painful way; (2) the large amount of subscribed people means a higher possibility to find a quality romance partner. In addition, the interviewees said that they didn`t stop looking for partners outside the Internet and they believe that Par Perfeito is just an extra way to meet people. A way that they find practical, cheap and funny.

Rydén, Andrea, Lundberg Finnsson, Johanna January 2014 (has links)
This essay is inspired by an earlier essay written in 2012 by Sanna Johansson and Erika Winther. In their essay they examined Sweden’s municipalities’ tourist websites and graded these based on a number of Web 2.0 criterias. In this essay we examine tourist websites belonging to the 15 most popular tourist destinations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Ireland. The purpose of this study is to give a general overview of how far these countries’ tourist websites have come in terms of web development, in relation to Web 2.0. By observing the websites based on a number of criteria, we place them on a scale between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. Some examples of criteria that are being studied are whether the websites are interactive and if the destinations make use of social media. We also examine whether there is a correlation between a country’s tourism revenue and its’ tourist websites. The results show that the mean value of all observed websites is Web 1.4. None of the examinated websites can be categorized as Web 2.0. The results also show that the countries are similar in terms of web development, apart from Northern Ireland and Wales where the scores are substantially lower than the other countries’. There is some correlation between a country’s tourism revenue and its tourist websites in terms of web development. The country that has recieved the highest score in our study is also the country that has the highest tourism revenues, and vice versa.

Sandberg, Eva January 2013 (has links)
In this degree project I have studied how an anti-discrimination bureau can adapttheir online information to the target group – immigrants who only have modestunderstanding of the Swedish language. This group is often subject of discriminationmatters, and therefore it’s important that they can take part of the information. To find answers to my questions I have studied different relevant theories, performeda readability analysis on the online information and have had qualitativeinterviews with representatives from the target group. I have also tested my rewrittentexts on both representatives and other readers. The result from my studies has shown that it is words that are the most difficult inthe current online information, while length and structure of the sentences are alsoof importance when it comes to the readability. In the re-written information Ihave focused on explaining difficult words and writing simpler sentences.

Webbplats för översikt av loggar / Website for overview of logs

Pettersson, Albin, Rogne, Robin January 2016 (has links)
This is a dissertation on how we performed a project that gives our customer Ninetech a simple overview of logs. Searching of specific information such as logs in large systems can be time consuming. This was the case for the company Ninetech. Therefore, the company’s will was to have a website to present the logs in a simple format. The website’s purpose was to facilitate and reduce the time when searching for logs. It is important to shorten the time because the logs contain valuable information that the company uses to resolve support issues. The website created is a complete product delivered to the company and is currently running in production. In the project, we have had a close contact with the customer, hence has an agile method applied. As a result, the website has brought the need to find logs quickly and easily.
