Internet Database Management and Systems Selection Study

Hsieh, Li-Fen Unknown Date (has links)
Internet technology has drastically changed the enterprise computing and platform. Database management and systems represent the core of the change and the key of the new revolution of the information technology and infrastructure. Business information and models have been stored and manipulated through the use of the database technology. Due to the fast growing speed and variety of the database products in the marketplace, managers are having difficult making the right decision in selecting and maintaining the Internet database management and systems. To tackle this issue, we propose a requirements-based software selection model from the user’s viewpoint. In this research, we develop a five-step choice model with an emphasis on the requirement analysis and rank analysis. We collect and compile the functional and non-functional characteristics and features of the Internet database management and systems. We classify and organize them into a four-layer hierarchy and work with the weight mechanism in the rank analysis. This choice model adopts another five-part rank policy in order to produce the final suggestion of software selection. In the end, we apply the new model in a field case study of the Web Database Systems Procurement Project with the National Laboratories of Foods and Drugs, Department of Health, Executive Yuan.

Web database systems benchmark method - electronic commerce orientation

Cheng, Wen-Cheng Unknown Date (has links)
A lot of business opportunity springs after commercial activities are officially allowed on Internet. The power and the potential of this market is represented by lots of web sites being set up. "Electronic Commerce" is coming to the whole world. However, it is the database supporting business web sites running that counts. Based upon the theory of benchmarking, we want to find out ways that we can know the performance of web database. After the model is set up and the workload is ready, an implementation is being made.

Application of Java on Statistics Education

Tsay, Yuh-Chyuan 24 July 2000 (has links)
With the prevalence of internet, it is gradually becoming a trend to use the network as a tool of computer-added education. However, it is used to present the computer-added education with static state of the word, but it is just convenient to read for the user and there are no difference with traditional textbook. As the growing up of WWW and the development of Java, the interactive computer-added education is becoming a trend in the future and it can promote the effect of teaching basic statistics with the application of this new media. The instructor can take advantage of HTML by combining with Java Applets to achieve the display of interactive education through WWW. In this paper, we will use six examples of Java Applets about statistical computer-added education to help student easily to learn and to understand some abstract statistical concepts. The key methods to reach the goal are visualization and simulation with the display of graphics or games. Finally, we will discuss how to use the Applets and how to add the Java Applets into your homepage easily.

Ambiente de apoio ao projeto de circuitos integrados baseado no world wide web / A world wide web based integrated circuits design environment

Indrusiak, Leandro Soares January 1998 (has links)
Nowadays the use of design automation tools for integrated circuits is more necessary than ever, due to the always increasing complexity of such circuits. This work discusses a model for tool integration in a framework, in order to speed up the design flow, saving the designer from tasks such as distributed resources and file administration. This framework is based on a well known environment: the World Wide Web. When using the World Wide Web as the base for the framework, a lot of work is saved since most of the user's graphic interface and the network management is already done. The availability of the WWW is also interesting, in the case of a distributed design team. The integration of the tools follows two models. The first is that of interactive tools. In this case, the tool must be re-written to be integrated to the environment as applets - applications written using the Java language that can be attached to WWW documents. The second model is used on poorly or non-interactive tools. In this case, the tool is integrated by its input and output streams. Using Java applets, the tools functionality and graphical interface are platform independent and may be attached to a WWW hyperdocument. Thus, the tool may run at the user's machine. Using this architecture, it is possible to divide the processing task among the framework server and the designer's machines. The tools that are integrated using the second model must run on the framework server due to compatibility issues, since they are platform dependent. In order to validate the proposed web based design framework, a literature review is presented in both themes: World Wide Web and CAD Frameworks. From the literature review and the proposed specification, a prototype was implemented, integrating tools using both the mechanisms described. The description of the prototype and its features are presented, as well as some critical points that need to be improved in future works.
