‘n Werksmotiveringsprofiel van die Eskom werknemer wat aan gewelddadige insidente blootgestel is.

Burger, Marilize 20 August 2012 (has links)
M.A. / Literature studies have shown that the organization, as well as the individual in the organization is directly affected by violence. The reasons and characteristics of violence have an emotional impact on the employee, and requires of him to work through the impact of incidents in his own time. The result of this process is delayed psychological growth, less creativity which eventually has an impact on productivity. Workmotivation is the force behind reaching goals individually as well as for the organization. External factors which includes violence, have an influence on the employee's ability to feel satisfied in his work situation. The goal of this research study is to determine if Eskom employees that were exposed to incidents of violence have a workmotivation profile that can be identified. A sample was selected with available statistics in Eskom, as well as the snowball method. The sample included 220 respondents. The respondents completed a unstuctured questionnaire, where they had to identify incidents in their work situation that made them feel good / happy, and incidents that made them feel bad / unhappy. The questionnaire was developed by Frederick Herzberg (1968) as part of his motivation hygiene theory where factors of worksatisfaction and rkdissatisfaction were identified. The results were computerized, and quantified by means of descriptive statistics. A workmotivation profile was constructed from the data. The study confirmed that a workmotivation profile of employees that have been subjected to incidents of violence can be identified. Determinants of worksatisfaction and work dissatisfaction were identified as responsibility, supervision, content of work, recognition, promotion, circumstances at work, personal circumstances and violence. On this profile violence received the highest percentage as a determinant of workdissatisfaction.

[en] WORK-LIFE BALANCE: IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN PERCEPTION BETWEEN WORKERS FROM DIFFERENT SOCIOECONOMIC STRATA? / [pt] EQUILÍBRIO ENTRE VIDA PESSOAL E VIDA PROFISSIONAL: EXISTE DIFERENÇA DE PERCEPÇÃO ENTRE TRABALHADORES DE DIFERENTES ESTRATOS SOCIOECONÔMICOS?

MARCOS VINICIUS SOARES SERRA FREIRE 27 July 2017 (has links)
[en] Organisations have been concerned for some time with work-life balance. Several programmes and benefits have been created to promote a better employees work-life balance, aiming to improve the productivity. It is also in the interest of academics to study the impact of the imbalance on organisations and on employees well-being, as wells as its causes and consequences. However, the majority of these studies are focused on upper class workers, who are also known as white-collars, while little attention is paid to the less qualified professionals. This fact has motivated this study, which has the objective to comprehend how work-life balance is perceived by individuals from different socioeconomic strata. Anchored in Bourdieu s (2007) assumptions that individual perceptions are impacted by social class or fraction of class, it is presumed that the work-life balance is perceived differently by individuals from different professional segments. Through qualitative research, workers from different socioeconomic strata were interviewed aiming to understand the perception of each one in relation to work-life balance. The results indicated that work-life balance is better comprehended by workers with higher socioeconomic status, suggesting that this concept was defined by the elite, the academic researchers, members of the intelectual elite of the society (Bourdieu, 2007), for the elite.

Den dramaturgiska jongleringen : En kvalitativ studie om balansen mellan privatliv och arbetsliv

Senke, Jesper, Barkhem, Henrik January 2021 (has links)
During 2020 we have endured a long-lasting pandemic which has made an impact on daily life. The worklife could perhaps be the most affected area since a large portion of people have been forced to work from home. This could in turn lead to a troublesome relationship between the roles of private life and worklife, in other words an increase of work-life balance conflicts. This study aims to examine the consequences of telecommuting and the conditions required to achieve work-life balance. To conduct this study a qualitative method was used where ten parents of young children were interviewed. Earlier research performed on telecommuting has shown mixed results where various studies show either positive or negative outcomes. Our results show a mix of both positive and negative results depending on whether work-life balance is achieved or not. Different factors play a role in achieving work-life balance. Things such as personality, the stability of relationship and the characteristics of work play key roles in the outcome of telecommuting. The result shows that 2/10 did not achieve work-life balance, resulting in role conflict. However, 8/10 did achieve a balance between the roles where we argue for a symbiotic relationship. Most participants found telecommuting to be positive where participants value being able to spend more time with their families. Our results are in line with both the negative and positive findings of previous research. This contributes further to the uncertain results suggesting that more research is needed.
