Um encontro com Anna Seghers: tradução, insubordinação, criatividade e a presença do fremd / An encounter with Anna Seghers: translation, insubordination, creativity, and the presence of fremd

Botelho, Jose Rodrigo da Silva 10 September 2012 (has links)
This work presents a critical translation of the narrative Die Reisebegegnung (The travel encounter), by the German writer Anna Seghers. Through this translation, the act of translating is discussed, questioning the translation model predominant in the publishing market, which requires fluent texts and in which the foreignness marks become extinguished. This dissertation proposes an alternative to the model: highlighting the foreign aspect of the work instead of trying to delete it, providing the reader with an experience of the foreign text that goes beyond the content and drawing his/her attention to language issues. This procedure gives more room and visibility to the creative work of the translator, made explicit here through the critical apparatus following the translation. Such an alternative is supported mainly by the ideas of Friedrich Schleiermacher, Lawrence Venuti and Antoine Berman, who defend the so-called foreignizing translation, i.e., the one that makes and warrants room for the strange (foreign, fremd) in the target text.

Larnemark, Josefin, Virkki Björnberg, Sara January 2006 (has links)
<p>The Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh was murdered on September 10 2003. The police pursuit for the man that murdered her was initiated immediately. Two weeks later, the police arrested the 24-year-old man that six month later would be sentenced to imprisonment for life for the murder of Anna Lindh. The main purpose of this essay is to examine how the man that murdered Anna Lindh was described in Aftonbladet and Expressen from the time of his arrest to the sentence of guilty. One part of the purpose of this essay is also to inquire how the Swedish evening press paid regard to the ethical publicity rules in their descriptions. Five articles from every newspaper based on five important dates during this period were chosen. These ten articles were then analyzed by a qualitative dialogical text analysis with the purpose to study how the texts are intertextual related to each other.</p><p>The analysis showed that the journalists had difficulties in paying consideration to the ethical publicity rules in their descriptions of the murderer of Anna Lindh. Aftonbladet’s and Expressen’s portrayals of the 24-year-old man didn’t change much over time. He was described as a mental instable and violent man in every article. It didn’t occur any obvious distinctions between Aftonbladet’s and Expressen’s descriptions which indicate that the newspapers within the genre evening press constitute a fairly homogeneous news institution. The texts related to each other by confirming and strengthening previous statements. The journalists were able to, by recontextualising a prior assertion, use the earlier articles as a basis and broaden the context within the discourse.</p>

Datormodellen Diasock

Ölmeby, Sara, Ekman, Anna-Karin January 2016 (has links)

Mellqvist, Amanda January 2017 (has links)

Lessons after Barbauld : the conversational primer in late-eighteenth-century Britain

Lim, Jessica Wen Hui January 2019 (has links)
This thesis explores how Anna Letitia Barbauld's book Lessons for Children Aged Two to Three Years (1778) facilitated the development of the conversational primer. This genre, which has not yet been theorised, may be identified by the way the texts present themselves as verisimilar and replicable sets of conversations, and depict parent-teachers and child-pupils as companions. This genre challenges the idea that there is a dichotomy between 'adult' and 'child' readers, a concept that inflects many contemporary approaches to children's literature studies. Through a close reading of Lessons for Children and subsequent conversational primers, this thesis suggests that Barbauld's Rational Dissenting value of discursive diversity influenced British middle-class children's culture, enabling the voices of verisimilar children to proliferate children's books on a previously unknown scale. The Introduction establishes ways in which concepts of child-parent relationships were used as paradigms for understanding modes of government in eighteenth-century Britain. Chapter One examines how children's books prior to Lessons for Children addressed different types of implied child readers with the aim of producing members of an ideal society. Chapter Two explores how Barbauld created a space in which parents could participate in the children's literature market through her introduction of the parent-author as a literary trope, her portrayals of verisimilar mother-child interactions in accessible, domestic spaces. Chapter Three charts how Lessons for Children became the prototype from which subsequent conversational primers drew their literary identity. The fourth chapter contextualises Lessons for Children as an expression of Barbauld's Rational Dissent, and posits that the rise of the conversational primer is indicative of the influence of Rational Dissenting values upon British middle-class children's culture. Chapter Five contrasts the afterlife of the conversational primer with children's books that generated readers' imaginative identification with characters. This comparison suggests that conversational primers encapsulated middle-class Georgian ideals regarding familial learning; an historical specificity that is, in part, responsible for the genre's popular demise. This thesis studies the lifecycle of the conversational primer in the British children's literature market. It examines the porousness between paratextual materials and texts, and shows how an individual author stimulated generic development by popularising specific literary tropes. By theorising the genre of the conversational primer, this study provides a new and productive discourse concerning adult-child interactions in children's literature.
