THE ROLE OF SECURITY IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO PREVENT CHILD RECRUITMENT : A QUANTITATIVE STUDY ON COLOMBIAUiterwijk Winkel, Siena January 2018 (has links)
A relatively new academic field, a highly increasing phenomenon: the recruitment of children in armed groups. Previous research has highlighted the importance of education in the prevention of child recruitment. However, I argue that the already established negative relationship between education and child recruitment is incomplete as education can also positively affect child recruitment. Therefore, it is important to look under which circumstances education decreases the likelihood of child recruitment. No previous research has systematically introduced a theory of the security field into the educational research field while explaining the phenomena of child recruitment. This thesis argues that the security provision in an educational institution is of importance, as a safe learning space can prevent child recruitment through deterrence and empowerment. Using data on Colombian municipalities in 2016, this research aims to statistically investigate the role of security in an educational institution in decreasing the likelihood of child recruitment. This thesis finds that when controlling for displacement, presence of armed groups, poverty, population and rurality, the unexpected outcome that the presence of safe learning spaces, measured through boarding schools, is positively correlated with child recruitment.

As experiências vivenciadas como profissional, no cotidiano da UTIN, com mães de bebês prematuros suscitou o desejo de compreender a ação intencional destas mulheres em permanecer no alojamento de mães durante a internação do filho. O estudo teve como objeto o Vivido da permanência das mães na unidade hospitalar durante a internação do filho prematuro na Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo Neonatal de um Hospital Maternidade Municipal do Rio de Janeiro e o objetivo de apreender o motivo para da mãe permanecer na unidade hospitalar durante a internação do filho prematuro. Adotou-se como suporte metodológico a fenomenologia Sociológica de Alfred Schütz, buscando a apreensão na relação face a face e através da intersubjetividade, a intencionalidade da mãe acompanhante em permanecer no alojamento durante a internação do filho, como uma ação social. Esta corresponde a uma ação projetada, dotada de significados subjetivos que podem ser dirigidas para o passado, presente ou futuro. O motivo para instiga a realização da ação direcionada para o futuro e o motivo porque está presente nas realizações passadas, podendo influenciar nas ações presentes, pois não são esquecidos. Foram sujeitos da pesquisa, 12 (doze) mães de recém-nascidos prematuros que permaneceram no Alojamento de Mães durante a internação do filho. A Entrevista Fenomenológica foi a técnica utilizada para captar a ação intencional, que consistiu de três questões orientadoras: O que você tem em vista quando aceita ficar no alojamento de mães? Como é sua vivência no alojamento de mães? e Como tem sido a sua vida após a decisão de estar no alojamento de mães? A análise teve como base a apreensão do motivo para que possibilitou captar o sentido da ação desta mãe em permanecer na unidade hospitalar durante a internação do filho prematuro, expresso através das categorias: Cuidar do filho: enfrentando o grande desafio de ter um pequeno bebê; Ficar perto do filho prematuro: a presença materna contribuindo para a recuperação mais rápida; e, Apoiar e Ajudar uma a outra: a esperança reforçada a cada dia; e, o motivo porque surgiu a partir do contexto vivencial dessas mães durante a hospitalização dos filhos na UTIN, compreendendo que a presença materna está ligada ao papel de ser mãe, socialmente construído e inserido em seus mundo-vidas. Este estudo possibilitou refletir sobre a criação de um grupo de apoio a essas mães, no que se refere a propiciar assistência psicológica, atividade de lazer, trocas de experiências entre aquelas mães que vivem e as que já viveram este drama da internação do filho, bem como reunião de mães e pais com o intuito de facilitar as relações familiares para superar as dificuldades desse momento. Ressalta-se também a necessidade de valorizar esta mãe como mulher e cidadã, proporcionando apoio para as visitas de familiares, oferecendo melhores instalações e condições adequadas para a permanência de forma sadia. / The lived experiences as a professional, in the daily life of Neonatal-ICU, with mothers of premature babies brought about the desire to understand the intentional action of these women in staying in the mothers hospital boarding during the hospitalization of the child. The study aimed as object the Lived of the staying mothers in the hospital unit during the hospitalization of the premature child in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit of a maternity District Hospital in Rio de Janeiro and the goal to learn about the mothers motives to stay in the hospital unit during the hospitalization of her premature child. It was adopted as methodological support the Alfred Schutzs sociological phenomenology, seeking the understanding in the face to face relation and through the inter-subjectivity, the intentionality of the supporting mother in remaining in the mothers hospital boarding during the childs hospitalization, as a social action. This action corresponds to a projected one, filled with subjective meanings which may be driven to the past, present or future. The motive for instigates the undertaking of the action directed to the future and the motive why is present in the past undertakings and may influence in the present actions because they are not forgotten. !2 (twelve) premature-new born mothers, were the research subjects, which stayed in the mothers boarding during the childs hospitalization. The phenomenological interview was the technique used to capture the intentional action, which consisted of 3 guiding questions, which are: What do you have in view when you accept to stay in the mothers hospital boarding for mothers? How are the living experiences in the mothers hospital boarding? And, how has you life been after your decision to stay in the mothers hospital boarding? The analysis had as basis the apprehension of the motive for which made it possible to capture the sense of action for this mother in remaining in the hospital unit during the hospitalization of her premature child, stated through the following categories: Childs caring: facing the great challenging of having a small baby; to stay near the premature child: the maternal presence contributing for the more rapid recovery; and, Support and Help one another: the hope re-forced day by day; and, the motive why came about from the living context of these mothers during their childs hospitalization at the neo-natal ICU, understanding that the maternal presence is linked to the role of being a mother, socially built and inserted in their world-lives. This study has made it possible to reflect over the creation of a support group to these mothers, providing psychological aid, leisure, interchanging experiences among those mothers, and mother and father' meetings as well, for the goal to provide easier family relationships to go over difficulties in that moment. It also stresses the need to value this mother as mother and citizen, providing support for the family's visitors, offering better infra-structures and properly conditions for her staying in a more healthy way.

In the General Direction of Instruction has emphasis to Scholar Inspection Service. The orientation of this study is supported in the teoric-methologic contributions of the New History and Cultural History. In the History of the Education, the investigation of the trajectory of Carvalho Neto it allowed to understand significants aspects of the teaching work´s configurations in the first half of the century XX in Sergipe. / Este estudo tem o objetivo de analisar as representações do trabalho docente, as práticas culturais e o lugar de produção do percurso feito pelo intelectual da educação Antônio Manoel

Previous issue date: 2008-11-06 / This essay is the product of a research on Arts methodology of education, which presents a new paradigm on the education of this knowledge field. Such paradigm introduces images in the classroom and is not exclusively worried about making the studio s works. There is a preparation in order to analyze and understand images before producing a poetical response. The objective of this research is to put the Triangular Proposal into practice, declared by Ana Mae Barbosa, aiming at the development of abilities for the appreciation, contextualization and elaboration of poetical proposals for the high school pupils. The presented theory is based on the Triangular Boarding which has three
components: reading (Critical and Aesthetic), contextualizing (History of the Art) and working in studio (Artistic Education). The complete knowledge of this theory happens when such components are carried out simultaneously. The methodology of this research is qualitative, descriptive and exploratory, using the Research-action as theoretical basis. In the present research, the pupils, based on the reading, analysis and contextualization of the works of the Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo s collection have produced poetical responses through plastic arts, reinterpreting and giving new understandings of the original works. / Esta dissertação é o produto de uma pesquisa sobre metodologia de ensino de Artes no Ensino Médio e apresenta um novo paradigma para as aulas da referida disciplina. Por um lado, introduz a imagem no cotidiano escolar e, por outro, não está preocupada unicamente no fazer dos trabalhos de ateliê. Há toda uma preparação em analisar e entender imagens antes de produzir uma resposta poética. O objetivo desta pesquisa é aplicar a Proposta Triangular, enunciada por Ana Mae Barbosa, visando o desenvolvimento de habilidades para a apreciação, contextualização e elaboração de propostas poéticas pelos alunos do Ensino Médio. O quadro teórico apresentado tem como referência a Abordagem Triangular que está fundamentada em três componentes: ler (Crítica e Estética), contextualizar (História da Arte) e fazer (Educação Artística). Estes, quando atendidos simultaneamente, propiciam o pleno conhecimento na área. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada é qualitativa, descritiva e exploratória, utilizando como base teórica a pesquisa-ação. Nela, partindo da leitura, análise e contextualização de obras do acervo da Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, os alunos produziram respostas poéticas em artes plásticas, reinterpretando e dando novas leituras às obras originais.

This master thesis treats the development of a new solution for a retractable boarding step to Scania trucks, which is a part of the modular system. Some customers have the need to transport additional passengers. For such applications, Scania provides trucks featuring a Crew Cab, which is an extended cab with rear doors. Easy exit through the rear doors is important for many customers who use this type of cabin. Therefore, there is a possibility to get a retractable boarding step, equipped with an upper step and a lower foldable, that enables easy entry and exit. This function is especially important for fire fighters carrying heavy equipment and therefore has more difficulties exiting the truck. The robustness and dependability of the function is critical to ensure the safety. If it fails, the legal requirements are not met while driving or even worse, injury may occur. Pneumatics is used for the fold out of the step and a spring folds it in. The current boarding step needs improvement in order for it to be dependable and robust. If the boarding step have not been folded out, the entry and exit of the cab is not possible. This thesis covers the product development, simulations and verification of a new boarding step concept that shall improve the entry- and exit function, making it more robust and dependable. Through problem identification, a product specification and a thorough concept generation and development process a final concept has produced. Simulations were made in order to verify that the step could be stepped on when entering and exiting the cab. The result was a lower step, sliding on linear bearings in a linear motion. This enabled egress and ingress independent of the extraction or retraction of the step. This makes it more reliable than the current product. The sliding mechanism need to be tested in order to ensure the robustness. A prototype was made in order for the function to be tested. / Detta examensarbete behandlar utvecklingen av en ny lösning för ett fällbart insteg till Scania lastbilar, som är ett modular product Scania utvecklar lastbilar till ett brett spektrum av tillämpningar. Behov av att transportera ytterligare passagerare kan finnas. För sådana tillämpningar erbjuder Scania specialfordon med manskapshytt, en förlängd hytt med bakdörrar. Enkel urstigning genom bakdörrarna är viktigt för många kunder som utnyttjar denna typ av hytt. Därför finns möjligheten att få ett utfällbart steg som förenklar in- och urstigning, utrustad med ett fast övre steg och ett fällbart nedre. Detta är särskilt viktigt för brandmän som bär tung utrustning och därför har svårare att ta sig ur bilen. Det utfällbara steget fälls ut för enkel åtkomst när det behövs och viks in under körning. Detta för att uppfylla lagkrav för fordonsbredd. Tryckluft används för att fälla ut steget och en fjäder används för att fälla in det. Flera fall där problem gällande in- och utfällningsmekanism har påvisats, fälls inte steget ut är det inte möjligt att stiga i och ur hytten. Förbättring av robusthet och pålitlighet behövs genomföras. Examensarbetet ska förbättra instignings- och urstigningsfunktionen och se till att den är robust och pålitlig.Genom att identifiera problemet, upprätta en produktspecifikation och genomföra en grundlig konceptgenerering och utvecklingsprocess har ett slutgiltigt koncept tagits fram. FEM simuleringar gjordes för att kunna verifiera att insteget håller för att kliva på. Resultatet blev ett undre steg, som glider på linjärlager. Detta möjliggör i och urstigning oberoende av i vilket läge steget är. Det gör den mer tillförlitlig än dagens produkt. Glidmekanismen måste testas för att kunna säkerställa dess robusthet. En prototyp har tillverkats för att testa detta.

The subject of this diploma thesis is a project for design documentation of boarding house which is oriented at south Moravia in the village Pavlov. The object is solved as four-storey with a partial recession of the first floor into the terrain. Boarding house will serve for the accommodation of 52 people. In the first floor, there is an entrance hall with reception, relaxing area and technical equipment of the building. In the second floor, there is a restaurant with a terrace and all necessary facilities for guests and restaurant staff. Two second highest floors are determined for guest accommodation. The construction of foundation is made from strip foundation. The structure is from bricks with monolith reinforced concrete frame in the first floor. It is a longitudinal wall system transversally reinforced by staircases. The perimeter walls will be insulated with ETICS system. The ceiling will be created from the prestressed reinforced concrete panels. Construction of roof is made from truss girders saddle type.

The boarding house is designed on a bed of 50 people with the possibility of a restaurant for port visitors and the public. The building has a parking space and terrace. The boarding house is two-storey with hipped roof. In the 1st floor is a restaurant with kitchen, reception with facilities for staff and smaller rooms for guests. The second floor consists of apartments and rooms. The building is brick with monolithic ceiling construction. The roof structure consists of trusses. Integral part of the landscaping with small architecture. The façade finish consists of ceramic brick cladding, scratched plaster with wooden accessories that fit into the surrounding landscape.

The content of this diploma thesis is the design of a new boarding house with restaurant in the city Velke Losiny. The building has 2 above – ground floors and a partial basement. In the basement is utility room, room for ventilation system and facilities for sauna. In the first floor there is reception, room for bikes, restaurant with kitchen and hygienic facilities. In the second floor there are rooms for temporarily accomodation for guest. We can also find here laundry room. The basement is built by the concrete formwork. Above - ground floors are built by clay masonry. Bearing walls between rooms for accomodation in the second floor are from acoustic masonry. The building is covered by hip roof. The whole diploma thesis has been prepared according to valid legal and technical regulations.
