Nocaute !

Laitano, Yanto dos Santos January 2006 (has links)
This work is a discussion on the technical and aesthetic aspects of the composition of a group of pieces. The discussion is based on works by Leonard B. Meyer (1973), Étienne Souriau (1999) and Ilza Nogueira (2003). The technical aspects of the composition are related to the compositional procedures "parody" and "conformant relationships"; its aesthetic aspects are related to the aesthetic categories to it "bizarre", "comical", "fantastic" and "uncommon". Such procedures and aesthetic categories occur in the entire group of pieces, to various degrees of importance. A discussion is made on the composicional process of each individual piece followed by considerations on how "parody", "the conformant relationships" and aesthetical categories are integrated throughout the group of pieces.

The modern sport passed to an intense transformations (mercantilization, professionalization and espetacularization), through the capitalist model, modified their structures looking for attending the avid demand for the consumption of this phenomenon. Buy the way, it¿s observed in the institutional organization of basketball the introduction of characteristics of the professionalism. So, the general aim is to discuss the appropriation of the characteristics of professional sport in the male¿s base basketball categories from São Paulo. As specifics aims this study will be looking for contextualize the origin and the development of the modern sport, understand the institutional trajectory of male¿s Brazilian Basketball organization, and analyze the organizational structure of the male¿s base basketball categories from Sao Paulo. Based on the methodological classification accomplished by Gil (2002) about the objectives and to the technical procedures, this study opted for the exploratory research and for the bibliographical and documental procedures. This study contributes to the area of the sports sciences, since it intends to explore the bibliographical material around the theme, aiming to understand that complex phenomenon, and to organize a study that promotes a discussion of these subjects. In the first chapter it will be contextualized the historical process, the formation and the development of the "bourgeois society", responsible for social changes that reflected in the sporting practices. Afterwards, the practices sporting initials and the form as these were organized will be discussed in two instances, in Europe (England) and in the United States (USA). In the third topic, the development of the modern sport along the twentieth century, discussing linked subjects as a professionalization and espetacularization of some modalities, including into the mass society and consumed society. Finally, will be present the model of capitalism logic by Jean Marie Brohm about the process of the modern sport transformation. In the second chapter will be looking for contextualize the evelopment of the male¿s basketball in Brazil, like: the origin, the form as the modality was institutionalized in the country and the trajectory of the amateur practice for a professionalized practice. After understanding this, in the third chapter will be elaborated a discussion about the base¿s categories in the State of Sao Paulo, reaching understand as the structural relationships and the changes in the organization established in this scenery / Mestrado / Ciencias do Esporte / Mestre em Educação Física

Le réalisme des relations : étude des réponses apportées au problème de la différence entre la relation et son fondement (1250-1350) / Realism about relations : study of the answers given to the problem of the difference between a relation and its foundation (1250-1350)

Girard, Charles 21 May 2015 (has links)
Whether relation is really distinct from its foundation or not is a question that can easily be found in medieval texts from the mid-thirteenth century onwards. It comes from an aristotelian background, the discussion about the categories, and asks if the category of relation really posits another thing, i.e. a relation, in reality. It results from a realist perspective on relations. In fact, most thirteenth and fourteenth century thinkers held without doubt that things outside the mind are really connected between them. Two men sharing the same height are really equal, that is, really linked to each other by a relation of equality. What is then left to understand is how these things are linked between them, or the exact nature of the aforementioned relation. Should we say that the equality in each of the equally sized men is a new thing that adds to the substance of each of them and to the accidents of height, belonging tho the category of quantity, on which these relations are founded? Or should we say that equality is real in another way, that is, without adding a new thing to the subject acquiring it? We can already find this issue in Aristotle himself, emerging from disagreeing texts devoted to this category. It received various answers that enable us to understand better how reality was defined in the Middle Age and some of the ontological debates of the time. The work that is here summed up attempts to precisely delineate these various answers and to provide a way of classifying them.

: En kvalitativ studie om hemtjänstpersonals konstruktion av äldre immigranter / May I ask a stupid question - older immigrant, what does it mean : A qualitative study about home care professionals´ social construction of older immigrants

Brito, Idalina, Dreierström, Olivia January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study was to understand how home care professionals construct older immigrants. The study was conducted by a social constructional perspective. The study consists of focus group interviews with three different home care groups. The data was analysed by using the theoretical concepts Categorizing and Making of the Others. The results of this study shows that the home care professionals are categorizing older immigrants as different from older Swedes, and therefore making older immigrants as the others. Besides mentioned social construction of older immigrants, we found that there were contradictions when the home care professionals made a reasoning that did not make older immigrants as the others. In this case they did not find the category older immigrants meaningful and useful, because they expressed that their needs were no different from elderly people in general.

Philosophie de l'expression et métaphysique de l'instant : pour une pensée de l'événement après Giorgio Colli / Philosophy of expression and metaphysics of instant : thinking the event after Giorgio Colli / Filosofia dell'espressione e metafisica dell'istante : Una riflessione sull'evento dopo Giorgio Colli

Rizzo, Alfio Nazareno 24 November 2017 (has links)
The name of Giorgio Colli is closely linked that of Friedrich Nietzsche. He produced the first complete edition of Nietzsche’s works and letters together with Mazzino Montinari. But Colli also specialized in Ancient Greece. He was inspired by Dionysus, by the ancient Greek philosophers and by Plato. He also developed his personal philosophical thought by breaking with the modern and contemporary philosophical tradition. The relationship of Colli to the history of philosophy must be considered from Plato and Nietzsche, according to a double perspective: the search for truth combined with the tragic fate of those who seek wisdom. The mystical orientation of Colli’s thought goes as far as to criticize the systemic philosophy, considered as a lie. The culmination of this criticism is thePhilosophy of expression (Filosofia dell’espressione). In his main work, Colli addresses the problem of reason from an essential intuition: logos is not only reason, but it is also expression. The translation of logos by the word expression (in Italian : espressione) may sound unjustified, but it suggests the strong will to seek the ultimate foundation of knowledge from a philological point of view. Therefore philology is the loving search for expression and has an affinity with aesthetics, because we can trace to the original logos by understanding what is appearing. On this basis, Colli builds his theory of categories and questions Aristotle’s and Kant’s categories. Then, we take our inspiration from Colli’stheory to build our thought about the concept of event, treated as the condition for knowledge. We have chosen to approach this issue in a theoretical perspective to expand the discussion beyond phenomenological and historical matters. In an ongoing dialogue with Colli, we follow the paths of abstraction to the instantaneous expression of the event. Through the theory of categories built by our philosopher, we examine the modal categories of necessity and contingency. Our thought about the ontological status of the event leads to a theory of the instant seen as an event which was inspired by a Heraclitus’s fragment and by Nietzsche’s idea of eternal recurrence.

Semigroups, multisemigroups and representations

Forsberg, Love January 2017 (has links)
This thesis consists of four papers about the intersection between semigroup theory, category theory and representation theory. We say that a representation of a semigroup by a matrix semigroup is effective if it is injective and define the effective dimension of a semigroup S as the minimal n such that S has an effective representation by square matrices of size n. A multisemigroup is a generalization of a semigroup where the multiplication is set-valued, but still associative. A 2-category consists of objects, 1-morphisms and 2-morphisms. A finitary 2-category has finite dimensional vector spaces as objects and linear maps as morphisms. This setting permits the notion of indecomposable 1-morphisms, which turn out to form a multisemigroup. Paper I computes the effective dimension Hecke-Kiselman monoids of type A. Hecke-Kiselman monoids are defined by generators and relations, where the generators are vertices and the relations depend on arrows in a given quiver. Paper II computes the effective dimension of path semigroups and truncated path semigroups. A path semigroup is defined as the set of all paths in a quiver, with concatenation as multiplication. It is said to be truncated if we introduce the relation that all paths of length N are zero. Paper III defines the notion of a multisemigroup with multiplicities and discusses how it better captures the structure of a 2-category, compared to a multisemigroup (without multiplicities). Paper IV gives an example of a family of 2-categories in which the multisemigroup with multiplicities is not a semigroup, but where the multiplicities are either 0 or 1. We describe these multisemigroups combinatorially.

Anti-essentialist marketing : an alternative view of consumers' 'identity'

Dekel, Ofer January 2014 (has links)
One problem with the traditional marketing segmentation view of consumer markets is that it treats social categories as an ontology, which somehow becomes independent of its own members. It assumes that the self is required to adjust to its segment. In my research, I follow writers such as Hall (1996) who claim that consumer identity is not a reflection of a fixed, natural, state of being but a process of becoming. The meaning of social economic class, Britishness, religion, masculinity and so forth, are subject to continual change. Identity then becomes a ‘cut’ or a snapshot of unfolding meanings; it is a strategic positioning of the individual, which makes meaning possible. My primary research focuses on one cultural category - second generation British South Asian. This is a group of consumers who are required to negotiate with multiple discourses – local, global, past, present, future, western, eastern, religious, national, popular culture and more - and with many social and cultural categories - British society, South Asian community, county of origin, religion, professional identity and others. The mainstream literature takes an essentialist view when analysing this group treating ethnic minority consumers as acculturating individuals who hold a hyphenated identity and who have to balance pressures from two sides of the hyphen- South Asian and BritishIn my research I take inspiration from Hall (1996) and treat ethnicity in its de-totalised, or deconstructed forms, recognising ethnicity as a concept that cannot be thought of in the ‘old way’ as representing essential, discrete differences between groups. Ethnicity and race are conceptualised here as socially constructed, relationally and culturally locatedMy data collection strategy is designed to help participants (Sample size of 13) to explore the landscape of their self by eliciting life narratives and their constituent attachments. The data were collected in two stages. The initial phase is based on the collection of 2 collages one of self-identity and one of shopping experience. The objective of this phase was to give the participants an opportunity to explore and map the different discursive influences in their lives. The second stage uses a narrative interview where the collages were used as a guide for the structure of the conversation. The findings of this research confirm a picture of self-identity as a ‘Field of Discursivity’ (Laclau and Mouffe, 1985) where self-identity can be viewed as a field in which no one discourse can fully master the others. Consequently, ‘who one is’ becomes an open question, with a shifting answer depending upon the positions available between one's own and others' discursive practices and within those practices. This understanding is the foundation of my claim that traditional marketing discussion rests on a flawed assumption which renders segmentation strategy incompatible with current market reality.

La trace de Dieu : une anthropologie des régimes d'orthodoxie au Mali / The trace of God : an anthropology of regimes of orthodoxy in Mali

Prud'homme, Pierre 25 November 2016 (has links)
Between 2012 and 2013, the malian crisis had many dimensions. Beyond the immediacy of the event, this thesis seeks to identify the religious dimension of this crisis, including the impact of these events on the religious sphere in the capital. In Bamako, the Islamic associations are part of a relatively confrontational field polarized between "Sufism" and "Wahhabism". Many agree that these terms have to be deconstructed. This is what I try to do in developing the concept of "regime of orthodoxy". A “regime of orthodoxy”, it is this "tinkering" giving rise to a new religious movement, which eventually register, willy-nilly, in the case of Mali, in this polarity. However, this one is not less performative being renewed during this period. To many observers, the "Wahhabi" sphere has many affinities with jihadist ideologies and requires some vigilance. The "Sufi" sphere, meanwhile, has for international institutions many strengths that earned them the label of "moderate Islam." The "trace of God" is the brand (body, clothing, or discursive one) that allows the observer to identify the membership of such actor to such a trend, and to measure his radicality, or more generally his intention. This is the indicator on which rests the diagnosis that feeds ultimately what we can call a "security Reason".
