Affectation de composantes basée sur des contraintes énergétiques dans une architecture multiprocesseurs en trois dimensions

Deldicque, Martin 06 1900 (has links)
Lithography and Moore’s law have led to extraordinary advances in integrated circuits manufacturing. Nowadays, many complex systems can be embedded on the same chip. Development constraints of these systems are so significant that a good planning from the beginning of the development stage is essential. Thus, the planning of energy management at the beginning of the development cycle has become important in the design of these systems. For several years, the idea was to reduce energy consumption by adding a cooling system once the circuit is created, a heat sink for example. The current strategy is to integrate energy constraints in the early stages of circuits design. It is therefore important to know the energy dissipation before the integration of the components in the architecture of a multiprocessor system so that each component can work within the limits of its thermal stresses. When a component is running, it consumes electric energy which is converted into heat. The aim of this thesis is to find an efficient assignment of components in a multiprocessor system architecture in three dimensions, taking into account the limits of its thermal factors.

WHEN WRITING BECOMES NIGHTMARE: HELPING STUDENTS PINPOINT WRITING TOPICS

Capelo, Carla 01 March 2018 (has links)
When deciding on topics for academic research papers, many students face difficulties that vary from choosing themes whose scope is too extensive to be satisfactorily analyzed in the given task, to selecting topics that are too limited, to not being able to make a decision on a topic at all. Such struggles seem to manifest themselves in both native and non-native speakers of English. Despite extensive research on the writing process and its strategies, be it for academic writing or other genres, and even research focused on writers’ difficulties, previous research has found little about the troubles students must overcome when deciding on a research topic, and how to overcome them. This study employed a qualitative case study design with two graduate students in a master’s program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, who were enrolled in two sections of a course on research, to investigate these students’ writing processes as they defined a topic for their literature review research paper. Through an in-depth analysis of samples of their writing in combination with their verbal reports, collected during individual semi-structured interviews, this case study examined how two graduate students successfully calibrated their topics, which strategies they employed to that end, and how their instructors’ actions helped them in the process. Consequently, the findings shed light on instructional practices, and their implications for teachers’ training programs.

Urval och val av applikationer som läromedel i förskolan / App selection and choosing apps as teaching media in preschool

Pinaitis Karlsson, Amanda January 2018 (has links)

Co čteme dětem předškolního věku doma a v mateřské škole / Reading to Young Children at Home and in Kindergarten

Kubecová, Markéta January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation is to discover what kinds of books are the preschool children read by both their parents and their preschool teachers. The theoretical part defines the preliteracy of the readers and the preschool age, and describes the children's contact with books both at home and at kindergartens. Defines a book in the terms of a medium being in contrast to other communication means. The practical part is based on a mixed design of the research: the quantitative part uses the method of a questionnaire, and the qualitative part draws on the in-depth interviews, the respondents being the parents and preschool education teachers. At first, the questionnaires are compared. The decisive factors in parents and preschool educators selection of the books are characterized afterwards. The children are most frequently read storybooks and bedtime stories. Preschool teachers read out fables, parents do not. Furthermore, parents read out adventure literature. Thus, the parents and the school complement each other. Both at home and at school, children come into contact with prose as well as fiction. Adults prefer to read out older books, published mostly by Albatros Publishing, or they lend books in a library. At the same time, they carefully choose new titles of various publishing companies, for...

Stanovení účinnosti hydroizolační infuzní clony v různých typech stavebních materiálů vystavených kapilární vlhkosti / Determination of waterproofing screens efficiency in various types of building materials exposed to capillary wetness

Červenka, Martin January 2016 (has links)
Increased moisture of masonry occurs mainly in older buildings. In some cases these problems arise even in new buildings. This issue should be properly treated and process of rehabilitation of the building must be executed. Humid walls can be treated by chemical injections, which is nowadays quite extensive and widely used method. Unlike mechanical methods humid walls in the implementation of chemical grouting does not need a major redesign and thus is friendly to the construction of the object. The main objective of this thesis is to establish a methodology for testing the injection materials, which will include a selection of ideal injection gel.

An analysis of the industry employment intentions of undergraduate freshmen in Shanghai majoring in tourism and hospitality management utilizing motivation and demographic information

Cheng, Baoqing 01 January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to develop a better understanding of the industry employment intentions of the undergraduate freshmen majoring in tourism and hospitality management, their motivation for choosing these programs, and the relationship between their industry employment intentions and their motivation as well as demographic profiles. The 1140 undergraduate freshmen who were enrolled in the tourism and hospitality management programs at Shanghai's 13 higher educational institutions in the fall of 2013 were recruited to participate in the study. In the pilot study, 244 students among 250 recruited completed the survey developed by the researcher using Self-determination Theory as the theoretic framework. In the formal study, 685 out of 890 students completed the modified survey. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, one-way between-subjects factor ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results of the study showed that: (1) on average, students' motivations for choosing a tourism and hospitality program were slightly above a moderate level of autonomy; (2) students' intentions to find job placements in the tourism and hospitality industry after graduation were at a moderate level; (3) there were significant differences among students majoring in tourism and hospitality management from the three different tiers of higher educational institutions regarding their family SES, motivations for choosing tourism and hospitality programs, and industry employment intentions; (4) among students' demographics, gender, family SES, and tier of higher educational institutions were significant predictors of their industry employment intentions, though only explaining 4.0% of the variance in students' industry employment intentions; (5) degree of autonomy of students' motivation for choosing their academic programs was a significant predictor of their industry employment intentions, explaining 15.3% of the variance in students' industry employment intentions; (6) degree of autonomy of students' motivation in choosing their academic programs was still a significant predictor of their industry employment intentions after controlling for demographics, leading to a 15.2% increase in explained variance; and (7) the degree of autonomy of students' motivation in choosing their academic programs and their demographics combined predicted 19.2% of their industry employment intentions. Implications for researchers, educators, policy makers and industry, as well as recommendations for further study, were discussed.

International market selection-screening technique: replacing intuition with a multidimensional framework to select a short-list of countries

Gould, Richard Robert, RichardGould@ozemail.com.au January 2002 (has links)
The object of this research was to develop an international market screening methodology which selects highly attractive markets, allowing for the ranges in diversity amongst organisations, countries and products. Conventional business thought is that, every two to five years, dynamic organisations which conduct business internationally should decide which additional foreign market or markets to next enter. If they are internationally inexperienced, this will be their first market; if they are experienced, it might be, say, their 100th market. How should each organisation select their next international market? One previous attempt has been made to quantitatively test which decision variables, and what weights, should be used when choosing between the 230 countries of the world. The literature indicate that a well-informed selection decision could consider over 150 variables that measure aspects of each foreign market's economic, political, legal, cultural, technical and physical environments. Additionally, attributes of the organisation have not been considered when selecting the most attractive short-list of markets. The findings presented in the dissertation are that 30 criteria accounted for 95 per cent of variance at cross-classification rates of 95 per cent. The weights of each variable, and the markets selected statistically as being the most attractive, were found to vary with the capabilities, goals and values of the organisation. This frequently means that different countries will be best for different organisations selling the same product. A
