Modélisation d'une variable aléatoire à l'aide d'un réseau

Titre de l'écran-titre (visionné le 25 septembre 2023) / Le domaine de l'assurance regorge de toutes sortes de données. Avec des milliers, voire des millions de clients, les compagnies d'assurance ont su emmagasiner un nombre impressionnant d'informations. À partir de celles-ci, elles sont en mesure de développer plusieurs modèles qui leur permettent d'anticiper le comportement de leur clientèle. Elles ont maintenant à leur disposition des modèles qui permettent d'estimer le temps restant avant qu'un client n'abandonne une police d'assurance de dommages. Une compagnie d'assurance souhaite cependant approfondir ses connaissances et améliorer ses prévisions en étudiant l'influence des relations entre les clients sur l'abandon d'une police d'assurance. Certaines données descriptives des clients sont disponibles ainsi que cinq fichiers qui lient les individus à des identifiants de groupe. Ces derniers sont utilisés pour créer des réseaux représentant les relations qui existent entre les clients de la compagnie. L'objectif de ce mémoire est donc d'explorer les données réseaux et de comprendre l'impact que les relations peuvent avoir sur certaines variables, plus particulièrement sur l'abandon d'une police d'assurance de dommages. Des statistiques descriptives en lien avec les réseaux, comme le nombre de liens entre deux individus qui abandonnent ou l'assortativité, permettent rapidement de savoir s'il est pertinent de continuer l'exploration ou non. Par la suite, un test de permutation permet de mieux comprendre l'influence des relations sur le fait qu'un client abandonne ou non. Puis, pour terminer, un modèle statistique qui permet d'estimer une matrice de covariance à partir des relations d'un réseau est présenté. / The insurance sector is full of all kinds of data. With thousands, if not millions, of customers, insurance companies have accumulated a substantial amount of information. From this information, they can develop several models that allow them to anticipate their customer's behavior. They now have models that allow them to estimate the remaining time before a customer cancels their insurance policy. However, an insurance company wishes to deepen their understanding, and improve predictions by studying the influence of relationships between clients on the cancellation of damage insurance policies. Some descriptive data on the customers is available, as well as five files linking individuals to groups. This is how the networks are created. The objective of this thesis is therefore to explore network data and understand the influence that relationships can have on certain descriptive variables, and more specifically on the cancellation of a damage insurance policy. Descriptive statistics related to networks, such as the number of links between two individuals who cancel or assortativity, quickly allow us to know if it is relevant to continue the exploration or not. Then, the permutation test allows us to better understand the influence of relationships on the cancellation of the insurance policy. Finally, a statistical model that allows us to estimate a covariance matrix from a network is presented.

La psychologie descriptive de Franz Brentano face aux débats contemporains sur la conscience / Franz Brentano's descriptive psychology in the contemporary debates on the consciousness

Depuis une décennie, les études sur la pensée de Brentano connaissent un souffle de renouveau. De sa doctrine, on retient le fameux thème de l'intentionnalité qui a soulevé un certain nombre de discussions sur ce que signifie réellement ce concept et ce que Brentano a voulu dire lorsqu'il l'a réintroduit. Dans la philosophie contemporaine, le passage en question qui décrit ce concept l'interprète le plus souvent comme la marque d'une irréductibilité du mental au physique, l'idée qu'il existerait un idiome ou vocable particulier pour décrire les états mentaux et l'esprit en général (intensionnalité). Récemment dans les contributions en philosophie de l'esprit, sa conception de l'esprit a connu un accueil favorable qui se distingue nettement de la première reception de son concept d'intentionnalité dans la philosophie du langage. D'une manière significative, sa théorie de la conscience s'est vu associée à différentes conceptions rivales de l'esprit : théories d'ordre supérieur, autoreprésentationnalisme et différentes autres variétés de représentationnalisme et d'intentionnalisme qui se réclame d'un aspect ou un autre de la conception de l'esprit de Brentano. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'explorer le thème du néo-brentanisme en identifiant dans la littérature contemporaine les théories dîtes "néobrentaniennes". / The famous intentionality quote from Brentano's Psychology from an Empirical Standpoint gave rise to many different glosses on how to understand what is meant by intentionality. Since Chisholm, Quine, and Davidson, the passage has often been referred to as making a claim about the irreducibility of the mental to the physical, turning Brentano's thesis that intentionality is the mark of the mental into a thesis about the peculiar idiom or vocabulary of the mental – a thesis about intensionality. However, in recent contributions to the philosophy of mind, the reception of Brentano's philosophy of mind has departed to a large extent from this first reception of the intentionality thesis. Interestingly, his conception of intentionality and consciousness has been integrated into diverse and sometimes competing accounts of the mind: higher-order theories of consciousness, self-representational accounts and varieties of representationalism and intentionalism often relate to Brentano's conception of the mind. The goal of this thesis is to explore neo-brentanian's subject identifying the neo-brentanian theories of mind and consciousness.

Etude comparée des parlers du groupe bantu kota-kele (B20) du Gabon : a la recherche de nouveaux critères classificatoires / A Comparative Study of the Kota-Kele (B20) Group of Gabon : seeking New Criteria for Improving its Internal Classification

La présente thèse a deux objectifs principaux. Le premier objectif est de proposer une description de la phonologie et de la morphologie de base pour l’ensemble des parlers B20 connus à ce jour (16 au total). Le deuxième objectif est de mettre au jour de nouveaux critères, non lexicaux, en vue de l’amélioration et de la consolidation de la classification interne de ce groupe resté largement inconnu pendant longtemps.Les parlers B20 sont tous relativement proches les uns des autres, de tous les points de vue. Par conséquent, trouver des critères non lexicaux pour faire avancer les connaissances dialectologiques n’est pas chose aisée. Seule une description fine peut permettre de le faire. Je me suis focalisée sur la phonologie des parlers, sans ignorer pour autant ce que j’avais pu collecter comme données sur la morphologie nominale (classes nominales et PN) et verbale. La première grande partie de la thèse présente l’essentiel des résultats de cette étude fastidieuse. Ces résultats ont à leur tour alimentés l’étude présentée dans la seconde grande partie, consacrée elle à la dialectologie et plus précisément à la recherche de nouveaux critères pouvant être utiles pour la classification interne. L’étude des critères potentiellement utiles pour la dialectologie a révélé que les critères morphologiques retenus tendent à mieux confirmer les propositions de classification interne existantes (et établis sur la base de données lexicales) que les différents critères phonologiques. Si les premiers ont globalement tendance à corroborer les deux, voire trois sous-groupes proposés notamment par Grollemund (2012) et confirmer, indirectement, le caractère flottant du B20 (Bastin & Piron, 1999), les derniers révèlent une disparité bien plus grande au sein du groupe kota-kele. Cette thèse présente d’autres atouts. Elle constitue une contribution importante au travail de documentation des langues bantu menacées de disparition. En plus des nombreuses informations d’ordre linguistique, culturel et historique, la thèse apporte aussi sa pierre à l’édifice quant à l’élaboration d’un atlas linguistique du Gabon et à la classification des langues de ce pays. / This doctoral dissertation has two main objectives. The first objective is to provide a description of the phonology and morphology base for all B20 dialects known to date (16 in total). The second objective is to uncover new criteria, nonlexical, for the improvement and consolidation of the internal classification of this group which has remained largely unknown for long.B20 dialects are all relatively close to each other, from all points of view. Therefore, finding nonlexical criteria to improve our understanding of the dialectological structure of this group is not an easy task. Only thorough linguistic description can change this. I focused on the phonology of the dialects, but did not ignore data about noun morphology (nominal classes and noun prefixes) and very basic verb morphology. The first major part of the thesis presents the results of this fastidious study. These results in turn are the basis for the study presented in the second major part which is comparative in nature and dedicated to dialectology and the search for potentially useful new criteria for the improvement of the internal classification of the group.The careful study of potentially useful criteria for dialectology revealed that the selected morphological criteria tend to better confirm existing internal classification proposals (mainly based on lexical data) than the various phonological criteria. If the former generally tend to corroborate the two or three subgroups proposed earlier (particularly by Grollemund (2012)) and confirm, indirectly, the floating nature of the B20 (Bastin and Piron, 1999), the latter clearly reveal a much larger disparity within the Kota-Kele group.This doctoral dissertation also has other assets. It is an important contribution to the ongoing documentation of Bantu languages, many of them being currently threatened with extinction. In addition to extensive linguistic, cultural and historical information, the thesis also wants to make a significant contribution to the development of a linguistic atlas of Gabon and to the classification of the Gabonese languages.

La recherche infirmière en France : approche sociologique et épistémologique / French nursing research : epistemological and sociological approach

La profession infirmière en France a vécu des changements récents en termes de recherche et de formation. Dans notre pays, la discipline infirmière est en cours d'institutionnalisation, pourtant il existe déjà des infirmières françaises mettant en ¿uvre des projets de recherche dans une relative autarcie. Dans le contexte actuel professionnel, disciplinaire et intellectuel, comment la recherche infirmière française peut-elle à la fois intégrer la sphère internationale et développer son programme singulier? Il est ambitionné de mettre en lumière ce à quoi les infirmières françaises tiennent, leurs " valeurs " scientifiques. Le programme de recherche Thot, programme séquentiel multi-méthodes, lancé en 2010, étudie le développement de la capacité de recherche infirmière en France. L'étude Thot 1 est une analyse descriptive transversale de l'activité scientifique infirmière à partir du Programme Hospitalier de Recherche Infirmière 2010 et 2011. L'étude Thot 2 est une ethnographie des pratiques de recherche infirmière mises en ¿uvre, combinées à la pratique clinique. Thot 3 est une étude phénoménographique sur les conceptions de la recherche, acquises pendant la formation, par des infirmières titulaires d'un doctorat, en France et en Suède. Les résultats des trois études ont été triangulés au regard de la définition de la science comme pratique socio-culturelle et sept valeurs sont proposées : réflexivité, formation dédiée, cohérence, diversité, confiance, transmission et transformation. Ce programme, déployé et mis en ¿uvre lors d'une des étapes charnières, contribue à l'intégration, dans le futur, des valeurs des infirmières françaises, comme des valeurs scientifiques. / Nursing research and education recently changed in France. In our country, the nursing discipline is currently transforming toward an academic institutionalisation. European development of nursing research is heterogeneous, but the paths of progress seem similar if four sequential stages. Nursing research is characterized by its diversity. However, French nurses implement research projects, in a relative seclusion. In the current professional, disciplinary and intellectual French nursing context, how can nursing research integrate both the international arena and develop its own unique programme? This thesis further aspires to highlight French nurses? scientific values and provide guidelines for nursing research and education in France. The research programme Thot, a multi-method programme, was launched in 2010 to study the development of French nursing research capacity. Thot 1 study was a descriptive cross-sectional analysis of the Hospital Nursing Research Programme 2010 and 2011 scientific activity. Thot 2 study was an ethnography of nursing research practices, combined with clinical practice. Thot 3 was a phenomenographic study of research concepts acquired during a doctoral apprenticeship in France and Sweden. Seven values were derived from the integration of the results of the three studies: reflexivity, dedicated education, coherence, diversity, confidence, transmission and transformation. We hope that this programme, deployed and implemented concurrently to one of the stage of development of nursing in France, will participate in the future integration of the values of French nurses as scientific values,

Hur beskrivs sensoriska egenskaper inom deskriptiv analys? : En kvantitativ tvärsnittstudie av artiklar publicerade 1974-2019 / Sensory attribute description in descriptive analysis : A quantative cross sectional study of articles published 1974-2019

Bakgrund Deskriptiv sensorisk analys (DSA) syftar till att beskriva sensoriska egenskaper (attribut) hos livsmedelslprodukter. En bedömarpanel analyserar ett produktprov genom att identifiera, namnge och mäta intensiteten hos ett antal attribut. Syfte Syftet med undersökningen var att studera hur attribut identifieras, beskrivs och presenteras inom vetenskaplig tillämpning av DSA. Metod Sjuttiofyra artiklar, publicerade i vetenskapliga tidskrifter mellan 1974 och 2019, analyserades kvantitativt med hjälp av deskriptiv statistik. Sjutton variabler användes för datainsamling. Samband mellan variablerna analyserades med hjälp av statistiska tester. Resultat Av artiklarna var 96 % publicerade i tidskrifter utan specifik inriktning mot sensorisk analys. I två tredjedelar av artiklarna tillämpades generisk deskriptiv analys (GDA). I fler än hälften av artiklarna avvek panelen från vad som rekommenderas kring bedömarantal eller tid för träning. I snitt användes 1,4 ord för namngivning av attributen. I hälften av artiklarna definierades inte attributen. I två tredjedelar av artiklarna presenterades inte några referensprodukter för att illustrera skalstegen. I tre fjärdedelar av artiklarna presenterades attributen i metodbeskrivningen. Meddelandelen substantiv var 68,2 % och 31 % adjektiv. En måttlig negativ korrelation mellan andelen substantiv och tiden för träning av bedömarpanelen var statistiskt signifikant. Slutsats I många vetenskapliga studier utförs DSA utan att gällande rekommendationer kring bedömarpanelen följs. I artiklar publicerade i vetenskapliga tidskrifter presenteras attributen inprecist nog att ifrågasätta användbarheten hos resultaten. Att ge den kvalitativa delen av undersökningen, identifiering och namngivning av attributen, status resultat skulle kunna öka intresset för att definiera attributen och illustrera skalstegen, vilket är en förutsättning för att tolka det kvantitativa resultatet (intensitetsmätningen) på ett meningsfullt sätt. / Background Descriptive sensory analysis (DSA) aims to describe the sensory attributes of food products. A panel of assessors analyze a sample of the product to identify and name a set of attributes and estimate their intensity. Objective The aim of the study was to research how attributes are identified, described and presented in the scientific use of DSA. Method By using descriptive statistics, 74 articles published in scientific journals between 1974 and 2019 were analyzed quantitatively. Data collection was conducted using 17 variables. Correlations between variables and differences between groups were analyzed using statistical tests. Results Of the articles 96 % were published in non-sensory-specific journals. Generic descriptive analysis (GDA) was used in two thirds of the articles. In more than half of the articles the number of assessors, or the time spent on assessor training, differed from what is recommended. An avarage of 1.4 descriptive words were used to name each attribute. In half of the articles no definitions of the attributes were given. In two thirds of the articles no reference products were presented to illustrate the attributes or different points of the scale. In three quarters of the articles the attributes were presentet in the section of method description, and not the results. The avarage share of nouns was 68.2 % and 31 % adjectives. A moderate negative correlation between the share of nouns and the time spent on panel training was significant. Conclusion Sometimes DSA is used without panel recommendations being followed. There are scientific articles where the sensory attributes are presented vaguely enough to question the usability of the results. To interperet naming of the sensory attributes as a qualitative results could motivate a more defined presentation, which would benefit the quantitative result (intensity assesment) by explaining what is meassured.

La documentation et description du huastèque du sud-est (code d’Ethnologue HSF), une langue Maya du Mexique, est un projet doctoral en cotutelle entre l’ University of Sydney, Australie et l’Université Lyon 2 Lumière, France. La première partie de cette these (le Volume 1) consiste en la description grammaticale de cette langue Maya: sa phonologie, sa morphologie et sa syntaxe, ainsi que la description de l’expression de l’espace dans cette langue. Le Volume 2 de cette thèse représente les contes en HSF, une description deétaillée du projet de documentation, un long résumé en français, et les matériels pour la revitalisation de la langue. / The documentation and description of South Eastern Huastec (Ethnologue code HSF), a Mayan language from Mexico, is a PhD project carried out in cotutelle between the University of Sydney, Australia and the Université Lyon 2 Lumière, France. The first part (the Volume 1) of this thesis is a grammatical description of this Mayan language: its Phonology, Morphology, and Syntax, as well as its Space encoding. The second volume (the Volume 2) of this thesis comprises HSF stories, a detailed description of the documentation project, a detailed summary in French, and the HSF revitalization materials.

nÃo hà / A pesquisa objetiva definir estratÃgias de conversÃo de registros bibliogrÃficos do formato MARC 21 para os esquemas de metadados MARCXML, Metadata Authority Description Schema (MADS) e Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS), por meio dos cabeÃalhos de autoridade de nomes e assuntos como categorias de anÃlise. Procedeu-se ao mapeamento dos subcampos com seus respectivos valores e o posterior cotejamento com as tags dos esquemas de metadados alvo da conversÃo. A pesquisa de carÃter exploratÃria e descritiva propiciada por levantamentos bibliogrÃficos e documentais adota a observaÃÃo sistemÃtica como tÃcnica viabilizadora da etapa empÃrica. Aborda o modelo entidade-relacionamento adotado pelosFunctional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) como ferramenta para modelar o relacionamento entre os atributos dos metadados em estudo e o formato MARC com as prescriÃÃes dos Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD)para os dados de autoridade de nome pessoal e os Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Data (FRSAD) para os dados de autoridade de assuntos tÃpicos. A anÃlise preliminar demonstrou que a flexibilidade dos esquemas permite tratar redundÃncias e ambivalÃncias na representaÃÃo de nomes pessoais e seus atributos.Permite, ainda,a abordagem por meio de remissivas e qualificadores apropriados com Ãnfase nos aspectos ligados a sinonÃmia e polissemia dos cabeÃalhos de assuntos. Analisa a flexibilidade notacional de esquemas correlatos como o Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS) na esteira da perspectiva de recursos de informaÃÃo interoperÃveis. Insere o vocabulÃrio Dublin Core na discussÃo e codificaÃÃo de metadados descritivos, o que possibilitou mapear limites e possibilidades deste vocabulÃrio no contexto bibliogrÃfico. Os resultados das conversÃes realizadas ilustraram o papel estratÃgico do modelo entidade-relacionamento como paradigma conceitual adotado pelos FRBR e, subsidiariamente pelos FRAD e FRSAD, na conduÃÃo das etapas de mapeamento e codificaÃÃo dos dados de autoridade de nome pessoal e assunto tÃpico de MARC para MADS e MODS. Foi observado que todos os campos e subcampos MARC analisados,alÃm de encontrarem seus equivalentes nos esquemas XML correspondentes, sÃo acrescidos de atributos relacionais que demonstraram efetividade nos vÃnculos que associam autores a papÃis assumidos nos recursos. Conclui que as estratÃgias de conversÃo aplicadas extraem o valor semÃntico do paradigma relacional preconizado pelos FRBR como elemento chave para alcance de expressividade, coerÃncia interna e sofisticaÃÃo das relaÃÃes sintÃticas e semÃnticas tÃo caras à efetividade dos catÃlogos. Sugere, a partir da literatura consultada e dos resultados verificados na etapa empÃrica, pesquisas que visem contemplar estratÃgicas de conversÃo de metadados com Ãnfase nos grupos 2 e 3 dos FRBR. / The objective of this research is to define strategies for converting bibliographic records from MARC 21 format to MARCXML, Metadata Authority Description Schema (MADS) and Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS) metadata schemas, through name and subject authority as analysis categories. The mapping of the subfields with their respective values and the subsequent collation with the tags of the metadata schemes target of the conversion were done. The exploratory and descriptive research provided by bibliographical and documentary surveys adopts systematic observation as a technique that enables the empirical stage. It ad-dresses the entity-relationship model adopted by the Functional Requirements for Biblio-graphic Records (FRBR) as a tool to model the relationship between the attributes of the metadata under study and the MARC format with the requirements of Functional Require-ments for AuthorityDescription (FRAD) and the Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Data (FRSAD) for the topics subject authority data. The preliminary analysis showed that the flexibility of the schemas allows to treat redundancies and ambivalences in the representation of personal names and their attributes. It also allows the approach through appropriate refer-ences and qualifiers with emphasis on aspects related to synonymy and polysemy of subject headings. It analyzes the notational flexibility of related schemas such as Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS) in the wake of the perspective of interoperable infor-mation resources. It inserts the Dublin Core vocabulary into the discussion and coding of de-scriptive metadata, which made it possible to map the limits and possibilities of this vocabu-lary in the bibliographic context. The results of the conversions carried out illustrated the stra-tegic role of the entity-relationship model as a conceptual paradigm adopted by the FRBR and, in a subsidiary way, by the FRAD and FRSAD, in the process of mapping and coding the personal name and subject matter authority data from MARC to MADS and MODS. It was observed that all the analyzed MARC fields and subfields, besides finding their equiva-lents in the corresponding XML schemas, are added with relational attributes that demon-strated effectiveness in the links that associate authors to roles assumed in the resources. It concludes that the applied conversion strategies extract the semantic value of the relational paradigm advocated by the FRBR as a key element for the reach of expressiveness, internal coherence and sophistication of the syntactic and semantic relations so dear to the effectiveness of the catalogs. It suggests, from the literature consulted and the results verified in the empiri-cal stage, researches that aim to contemplate strategies of metadata conversion with emphasis in groups 2 and 3 of FRBR.
