Nesse trajeto,
examinam-se as obras dos autores a partir do contexto patriarcal e de simbologias e
referências religiosas.
O estudo enfoca as personagens Brás Cubas, Dom Casmurro e Zé do Caixão,
significativa contribuição de Machado de Assis à Literatura universal / This dissertation consists of a comparative approach between the writer Machado de
Assis and the filmmaker José Mojica Marins. The research finds similarities between
the novels Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas and Dom Casmurro, at one side, and À
meia-noite levarei a sua alma and Esta noite encarnarei no teu cadáver, at the other. In
this way, we examine the works of these authors from a patriarchal context and also
symbols and religious references.
The study focuses on the characters Brás Cubas, Dom Casmurro and Coffin Joe, men
who seek to enforce them selves as male patriarcal entities, but eventually become
displaced when their attempts fail within a meltdown of a social system that becomes
increasingly obsolete.
The goal is to present similarities between the nineteenth-century writer and the
contemporary filmmaker, because the complex psychological enbodyments of their
characters interrelate with the authors personal experiences, becoming decisive in the
construction of the analysed works in question. Therefore, there is in Machado’s work
traces of the Brazilian social structure of the nineteenth century composed mainly of
sexist and segregationist concepts and the first signs of disintegration within the
patriarchal system; inside this corpus it is analysed also the disruption of laws and
religious symbols linked to the prevailing patriarchy of the period and social behavioral
changes, such as female emancipation. Thus, starting from this study of Machado’s
books, a comparison with Mojica's films is developed, which have a similar ambiance
and characterization of the Brazilian nineteenth-century period.
With this research, we intend to emphasize the importance of José Mojica Marins
cinematographic work - as complex as Machado's work - and to reaffirm the significant
contribution of Machado de Assis to universal literature

interpelação-identificação pelo qual o indivíduo é assujeitado / This study is related to the theory of Discourse Analysis based on studies of Pêcheux,
France, and developed by Orlandi, Brazil. The Discourse Analysis is a discipline that
works in the confrontation and proposes to question the evidence of subject and sense. Our
research consists of analyzing the processes of production of sense constitutive of political
discourse in electoral debates in the television media, more specifically, in the words of
presidential candidates: Aécio Neves (PSDB) and Dilma Rousseff (PT), in two televised
electoral debates on 2014 campaign: the first transmitted by Bandeirantes and the last
transmitted by Globo. According to the theory to which we are affiliated, the political is
not the partisan, but the perennial process of division of the senses. Thinking about the
media in relation to political discourse is to reflect about the relationship between language
and society. More than that, it is to think of the discursiveness produced in this constitutive
tension of social practices, constituting subjects and enabling the production of effects of
meaning. In our dissertation, among other issues, we mobilized the concept of enunciation
from a linguistic, discursive and psychoanalytical point of view. This allowed us to
observe that the model of "accurate and firm enunciation, without indecision, stumbling,
without reluctance or syntactic ruptures" (PAYER, 2005) of a subject who finds himself in
the illusion of oneness and origin of the saying, at some point fails, producing new effects
of sense, because "there is no ritual without fail" (PÊCHEUX, 2014e [1978] [1988]),
letting the truth glimpse of the subject always in half-words, according to the Lacanian
Psychoanalysis. In addition, we observe the imaginary formations of the subject positions
constructed discursively in their sayings, in relation to the place where they speak, as a
candidate, and the place of the other elector and the other political adversary, through an
analysis of the elements I, we, you and they, according to the proposal of Indursky (2013
[1997]). This allowed us to verify that these images discursively constructed in the sayings
of the candidates are fundamental for the elaboration of the argumentation in the political
discourse in a campaign, but that they are not guarantees of success, since we must
consider the process of interpellation-identification which the individual passes

Les caractéristiques subjectives du rappel des souvenirs autobiographiques chez les patients schizophrènes / Subjective characteristics of the recall of autobiographical memories in patients with schizophreniaPotheegadoo, Jevita 07 April 2014 (has links)
Patients with schizophrenia suffer from severe autobiographical memory deficits. These have a significant impact on patients’ personal identity and functional status in daily life. Through three studies, we showed that all the subjective characteristics of autobiographical recall are impaired in patients with schizophrenia (distorted perception of subjective time, memory recall less associated with Field visual perspective). The impairment of these subjective aspects of autobiographical recall was linked to the lack of specificity of memories and low level of details in patients’ memories. It is these details which allow vivid memory recall. Hence, we tested the effectiveness of a method which showed that deficits in the strategic retrieval of memory details could be remediated. Patients are able to improve the recall of their memory details when given the necessary means to do so. A cognitive remediation therapy, based on this method, could be set up with patients with schizophrenia.

Våler Church : A Contemporary Experience of Sacred Architecture / Våler kyrka : en samtida upplevelse av sakrala arkitekturMoattar, Kayrokh January 2012 (has links)
The History of Architecture has been all about religious buildings. With distribution of sources of power and wealth, new paradigms have emerged. Architecture today is about villas, skyscrapers, stadiums, etc. as well as churches. The financial support of the church is not in the same way as in middle ages; neither the way in which they are used. The question of this thesis project is this transformation of an architectural tradition and how it should be adjusted to our time’s conditions.

3D Building Model Reconstruction from Very High Resolution Satellite Stereo ImageryPartovi, Tahmineh 02 October 2019 (has links)
Automatic three-dimensional (3D) building model reconstruction using remote sensing data is crucial in applications which require large-scale and frequent building model updates, such as disaster monitoring and urban management, to avoid huge manual efforts and costs. Recent advances in the availability of very high-resolution satellite data together with efficient data acquisition and large area coverage have led to an upward trend in their applications for 3D building model reconstructions. In this dissertation, a novel multistage hybrid automatic 3D building model reconstruction approach is proposed which reconstructs building models in level of details 2 (LOD2) based on digital surface model (DSM) data generated from the very high-resolution stereo imagery of the WorldView-2 satellite. This approach uses DSM data in combination with orthorectified panchromatic (PAN) and pan-sharpened data of multispectral satellite imagery to overcome the drawbacks of DSM data, such as blurred building boundaries, rough building shapes unwanted failures in the roof geometries. In the first stage, the rough building boundaries in the DSM-based building masks are refined by classifying the geometrical features of the corresponding PAN images. The refined boundaries are then simplified in the second stage through a parameterization procedure which represents the boundaries by a set of line segments. The main orientations of buildings are then determined, and the line segments are regularized accordingly. The regularized line segments are then connected to each other based on a rule-based method to form polygonal building boundaries. In the third stage, a novel technique is proposed to decompose the building polygons into a number of rectangles under the assumption that buildings are usually composed of rectangular structures. In the fourth stage, a roof model library is defined, which includes flat, gable, half-hip, hip, pyramid and mansard roofs. These primitive roof types are then assigned to the rectangles based on a deep learning-based classification method. In the fifth stage, a novel approach is developed to reconstruct watertight parameterized 3D building models based on the results of the previous stages and normalized DSM (nDSM) of satellite imagery. In the final stage, a novel approach is proposed to optimize building parameters based on an exhaustive search, so that the two-dimensional (2D) distance between the 3D building models and the building boundaries (obtained from building masks and PAN image) as well as the 3D normal distance between the 3D building models and the 3D point clouds (obtained from nDSM) are minimized. Different parts of the building blocks are then merged through a newly proposed intersection and merging process. All corresponding experiments were conducted on four areas of the city of Munich including 208 buildings and the results were evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively. According to the results, the proposed approach could accurately reconstruct 3D models of buildings, even the complex ones with several inner yards and multiple orientations. Furthermore, the proposed approach provided a high level of automation by the limited number of primitive roof model types required and by performing automatic parameter initialization. In addition, the proposed boundary refinement method improved the DSM-based building masks specified by 8 % in area accuracy. Furthermore, the ridge line directions and roof types were detected accurately for most of the buildings. The combination of the first three stages improved the accuracy of the building boundaries by 70 % in comparison to using line segments extracted from building masks without refinement. Moreover, the proposed optimization approach could achieve in most cases the best combinations of 2D and 3D geometrical parameters of roof models. Finally, the intersection and merging process could successfully merge different parts of the complex building models.

An integrated audit evidence planning model to quantify the extent of audit evidenceMentz, Marian 11 1900 (has links)
Audit evidence enables the auditor to express an opinion on the financial statements. To address the risk that the auditor may express an inappropriate opinion, the nature, timing and extent of audit procedures must be responsive to the assessed risks of material misstatement. The auditor must aggregate the levels of assurance obtained from different combinations of tests of controls, substantive analytical procedures and tests of details to respond to the assessed risks. These evidence planning decisions are complex and require professional judgement.
Research has found that the extent of audit procedures is not linked to the assessed risks and that auditors may not know to aggregate evidence from different types of audit procedures. Research also supports the use of a structured audit methodology that includes decision models, to guide the application of professional judgement. This leads to the overall objective of this study: the development of an integrated audit evidence planning model to quantify the extent of audit evidence.
The study employs a grounded theory model building approach, interpreting the relevant concepts and principles from the literature review into the development of the model. The integrated audit evidence planning model quantitatively relates the extent of audit evidence in a logical and structured manner with the risk assessment and three distinct overall levels of assurance needed to support the audit opinion. It uses the cumulative nature of audit evidence and the compensatory inter-relationship between tests of controls, substantive analytical procedures and tests of details to quantitatively aggregate the extent and levels of assurance from the different combinations of procedures to obtain reasonable assurance at the required overall level of assurance. The model provides a framework for influencing and guiding the exercise of professional judgement and is a practical and effective tool to benefit the users thereof when conducting an audit.
Thus, the study models the extent of audit evidence with reference to the aggregation of different types and combinations of evidence and the linkage between the risk assessment and the extent of evidence that provides a flexible framework for the application of professional judgement regarding the gathering of audit evidence. / Auditing / D.
