Redesign of a website for technical information and service tools following a human centered design process to reflect the workflow of different users / Omdesign av en webbplats för teknisk information och tjänsteverktyg enligt en människocentrerad designprocess avsedd att spegla arbetsflödet hos olika användare

Norkute, Milda January 2018 (has links)
Web-based services designed using human centered design methods containing instructions how to self-complete various tasks and providing interfaces to do them helped various organizations become more efficient. However, often software engineering teams have a lack of understanding of when and how users should bei nvolved when designing such systems. They are often unsure how to measure the impact of human centered design methods. This thesis presents a human centered design solution to designing a website for technical information and service tools for Windows services at CERN. This involved using a carefully chosen combination of design research methods to study user, stakeholder groups and their workflows as well as organizational requirements. I then used this data to inform the design decisions and outputs such as sitemaps, wireframes and a high fidelity prototype. The study focused on the role of these methods in the design process and how they could help to accomplish the goals of the project. Also, on evaluating the impact of these methods on the design outcome. It was found that interviews, card sorting and usability testing each had a role to play in the process with the new design performing significantly better than the old one. Further to this, usability testing was found to be a useful evaluation and development technique.

Fridolfsson, Lina, Eliasson, Elin January 2023 (has links)
Studiens empiriska material samlades in genom fokusgrupper. / Previous research on educational documentation shows that it is mostlyolder children who participate. On the other hand, it would benefit theyounger children because educational documentation can contribute toconnection and can create a secure relationship. The purpose of the study isto investigate how preschool teachers reason about younger children´sparticipation and influence in educational documentation. The researchquestions are: What do preschool teachers say about educationaldocumentation with younger children? What do preschool teachers reasonabout the participation and influence of younger children in educationaldocumentation? How are the children given the opportunity to participateand have influence in educational documentation according to the preschoolteachers? The study’s empirical material was collected through focusgroups. The results showed that what affects young children’s participationthe most is that not everyone has the verbal language, which means that thepreschool teachers interpret the children’s different expressions ofcommunication. In order to interpret as correctly as possible, reflectionswith the work team are an important asset. The conclusion is thatdocumentation will not be educational if the children are not involved.

DATAFLÖDEN OCH DIGITALA VERKTYG I PRODUKTIONSSKEDET : En granskning av interna dataflöden och digitala verktyg för Skanska Stora Projekt / DATA FLOWS AND DIGITAL TOOLS IN THE PRODUCTION STAGE : A review of internal data flows and digital tools for Skanska Large Projects

Ida, Eriksson, Skoog, Joachim January 2022 (has links)
Digitalization in the construction industry is progressing rapidly. During the corona pandemic,“Svensk Byggtjänst” states that development has accelerated and that the use of industryspecificdigital tools has increased by more than 60%. This rapid development takes place at thesame time as large ongoing projects, which leads to the implementation of the digital tools takingplace in parallel with the production. It is not without problems to redirect the direction ofroutines and working methods on an ongoing project, especially not in information-denseconstruction projects. In the production phase of a construction project, large amounts of documentation are handled, creating an efficient flow with a minimal number of interruptions and without the risk of losinginformation along the way is important, not least from a quality perspective.Quality documentation is used to ensure that the right product is delivered and that therequirements for the building component are met, the quality documentation is also included inthe final documentation that is produced before a final inspection. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate Skanska's data flows for quality documentation in theproduction phase. To investigate what the data flow looks like in the project, a review of thecontrol documentation for a construction part in Slussen has been carried out. To get a clearerpicture of the data flow today and how efficient it is, this study performs a survey of an actualquality-related flow, and interviews digital leaders and production engineers. The purpose is toidentify inefficiencies and risks in the form of interruptions in the flow and lost qualityassurance. The study shows that there is some resistance in production when it comes to the implementationof digital tools, that the degree of use of the digital tools is lower than desired and that it isaffected by personal preferences when it comes to quality work in production. The results reportconsequences that can be linked to inefficient data flows and what is needed to optimize the dataflow.

Identification and Documentation of Environmental Assumptions for the PACEMAKER System

WANG, Vivien You 04 1900 (has links)

An interest has been established in the identification, documentation and classifi- cation of the environmental assumptions that are missing from the original PACE- MAKER System Specification. This thesis addresses the presented challenge and documents the procedure used to identify, classify, and document these missing en- vironmental assumptions.

In summary, this thesis answers the following questions:

What can be done in order to improve the original PACEMAKER System

Specification with respect to environmental assumptions?

Why is it beneficial, in terms of enhancing software quality, to include the doc- umentation of environmental assumptions – which sometimes are (wrongfully) perceived as being collateral and optional – as part of the software requirements document?

How should such environmental assumptions be documented?

More specifically, this thesis • Presents an abstract model for the PACEMAKER system. • Identifies system boundaries and interfaces in the PACEMAKER model. • Identifies environmental assumptions for the PACEMAKER system.

• Presents a classification system for the environmental assumptions identified for the PACEMAKER system based on the proposed model.

• Proposes a process for identifying environmental assumptions.

Furthermore, the research findings presented in this thesis are not limited to the PACEMAKER system. The documentation convention proposed in this thesis is meant to be generalized and can be extended to address similar documentation needs posed by all kinds of software systems. Additionally, the process of environmental assumptions elicitation described in this thesis provides a useful reference for con- ducting similar assumption identification projects. Lastly, the classification system presented in this thesis for the environmental assumptions exhibits one facet of a grander conceptual system – one that incorporates multiple ‘views’ of the same set of assumptions, with each view being distinguished by a unique set of classification criteria.
/ Master of Applied Science (MASc)

Baraby, Anne-Marie 17 April 2018 (has links)
This dissertation, a study of how reference grammars can be developed for speakers of minority languages, contributes to the newly emerging field of grammaticography, the science devoted to the grammatical description of languages, particularly those which are poorly documented and endangered. The present study addresses fundamental theoretical, methodological and practical concerns related arising in grammaticography, taking as an example key issues arising in the development of a grammar for native speakers of Innu, an Amerindian language spoken in Quebec. Starting from an analysis of problems encountered in the course of documenting the grammar of Innu, this dissertation explores how grammaticography can best respond to the specific and very urgent needs of speakers of endangered and poorly documented languages. The study opens with an analysis of the concept of reference grammar. It then considers how potential users of reference grammars can be identified in minority language contexts and how grammars can be structured in order to meet the needs of users who are native speakers of the language without being language specialists. The study next addresses the problem of content, considering both what to include and how to include it. In this section particular attention is paid to making metalinguistic and terminological choices, establishing grammatical norms and handling regional variations, deciding on the depth and breadth of grammatical description to include, selecting grammatical points to include, organizing the selected content optimally, choosing and integrating illustrative examples, and including key non linguistic information. Next follows a discussion of the various solutions arrived at in the case of writing a reference grammar for the Innu language. Among these figure the use of a multilevel approach designed to address the needs of a varied reading public, the selection of teachers as the target audience, the organization of content according to a hybrid structural-function approach, and the decision to write the grammar in a majority language. Although the challenges posed by the creation of minority language reference grammars vary substantially from one context to the next, it is hoped that many of the basic grammaticographie principles developed within the framework of this study will prove useful to others engaged in reference grammar writing in the case of endangered and poorly documented languages.

CHEZ MICHOU (The Mystery of Blue) : (Queer Archive of Feelings) An Interdisciplinary Perspective by Žak Branko Valenta

Valenta, Branko January 2024 (has links)
Mobilizing the format and legacy of the cabaret genre, the Chez Michou project intertwines the image of the French singer and drag artist Michou with a poetic reflection on disorientation. The bodies on the stage activate a queer spatiality that erases the border between the inner and outer world, between abstraction and the reality of fiction. Guiding the imagination in the confusion of identity, the choreography reveals a cartography of dislocation saturated with vivid textures of objects, gestures and words. The collapse of heteronormative structures is radicalized through the possibility of flesh to oppose fixed coordinates and perform a subject that is somehow out of place. The choreographic language is associated with the mystical insights and screenwriting actions of the cult American director David Lynch. Dramaturgy supported by musical quotes from feminist and activist icons: British music diva Annie Lennox, female post-punk band Le Tigre and iconic queer synth pop ensemble Visage Chez Michou functions as an invitation to lose ourselves, celebrates the disappearing horizon and returns to the affective territories of Otherness. The performance work "Chez Michou" is accompanied by a Choreographic Object / Object called SPOMENAR / Queer Archive of feelings as its complementary, but also independent part. Both works were premiered to the public on May 26 and 27, 2024 at the Modern Dance Theater (MDT) in Stockholm as part of the graduation mini festival. works by students of the master's degree in choreography at the University of the Arts in Stockholm.
