O uso de jogos de empresas no ensino superior : um estudo sobre a prática docente /

Zambelo, Elisabete Aparecida. January 2011 (has links)
É necessário despertar no professor/instutor o interesse em invetir tempo para o uso de jogos de empresas que proporcionam ao processo ensino/aprendizagem mais qualidade e treiná-los para explorar, adequadamente, os potenciais do jogo / Abstract: Seek to understand how the use of business games inluences the process of learning is fundamental to their use is extended and more frequent in higher education. Integrating information and communications technology (ICT) into teaching and learning: the case of mathematics, science and technology education in one higher education institution

Addam, Billey Bright Kwadwo January 2014 (has links)
This study explores the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into teaching and learning within one Higher Education institution. The main question driving the study was: How is ICT integrated in the teaching and learning of mathematics, science and technology education (MSTE) in a Bachelor of Education programme? This is a case study of lecturers and students in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education. It makes use of questionnaires, interviews, field notes and document analyses to collect data. MSTE lecturers and students were assumed to be well versed in ICT usage and, therefore, well placed to assess its integration into teaching and learning. There were five main findings: First, that Mathematics, Science and Technology Education lecturers showed some ambivalence in their ontological and epistemological orientation to using ICT. Some leaned towards the instruction paradigm and used ICT as a tool for the transmission of knowledge; others leaned towards the learning paradigm, showing an awareness of the need to elicit discovery through ICT. Secondly, that lecturers’ understanding of ICT integration was oriented towards teaching and learning from technologies rather than with technologies. Thirdly, that processes of ‘pedagogical evolution’ were taking place, in terms of which there was a gradual but perceptible shift in the teaching and learning practice of both students and lecturers. Fourthly, there was no evidence to show that lecturers used ICT to promote innovative and creative teaching; in fact, students appeared to be more creative in using ICT resources, than lecturers. Fifthly, and finally, lecturers did not assign ICT-based tasks that promote conceptual understanding. They assigned tasks that asked students to extract and reproduce information from computers, without demonstrating understanding. When used in this way, ICT can, in fact, be de-skilling. From these findings, it can be concluded that ICT integration cannot be understood without exploring the ontological and epistemological orientations, as well as the theoretical orientations, at play in the teaching and learning situation. It is on the basis of these that people, that is, lecturers and students, make use of, ICTs to achieve desired goals. It is therefore recommended that, for the improvement of integration, there should be a greater emphasis on developing and sharing pedagogical expertise concerning ICT use in teaching and learning. It is recommended that a country-wide research survey should be undertaken, based on probability sampling and focussing on pedagogical issues in ICT integration in teaching and learning.

Development of a Church-Based Educational Program to Increase Prostate Cancer Screening for Black Men 40 and Older

Silvera-Ndure, Dawn Marie 01 January 2016 (has links)
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States and is one of the leading causes of cancer death among men of all races. However, African-American men are at particularly high risk. These men are diagnosed more often with prostate cancer, are diagnosed later, and are more than twice as likely to die from prostate cancer than are Caucasian men. A strategy to address this inequity was to develop a community based program that would reach this at risk population. The goal of the project was to develop an evidence-based, theory-supported education and referral program to promote prostate cancer prevention screening among African-American men utilizing New York community church settings. The resultant scholarly project aims to motivate the target population towards prostate cancer prevention screening as appropriate through the development of an evidence-based, theory-supported, community-focused education and referral program using self-efficacy theory. This project provides a program, grounded in self-efficacy, that will educate African-American men about prostate cancer, empower them with knowledge regarding risk, motivate them to seek preventative screenings, and obtain care if needed. An evaluation strategy was developed incorporating a post-test questionnaire to measure participant knowledge and self-efficacy along with a process for measuring referrals to local screening and treatment programs. The program will bring about positive social change through empowerment of a population of men suffering from disparate access to care resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. Dissemination of the project will include presentations to the community church leaders and Caribbean healthcare professionals, as well as publication in Parish nursing journals.

No. of bitstreams: 1 3643.pdf: 19647341 bytes, checksum: a9bc4ab732e0263ea4ce28ea3f6ba6a2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-02-24 / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / Throughout this dialogue we fetch describe and analyze the conceptions of an experienced teacher of Physical Education on Knowledge Teacher and about what, why and to what degree of proficiency of their students 3rd and 4th grades of Elementary School in a State School in São Paulo State, should know about physical education in their classrooms. For this, we rely on the following question: What, why and to what extent an experienced physical education teacher should know about the content in order to teach their students? And what, why and to what extent students Cycle II (3rd and 4th grades) of elementary school should know about this content? We keep the term "grades" because the school itself, at the time that there was monitoring, the nomenclature used for classes and, therefore, we recognize and value their provisions and curricular structures. Linked to the apprehension of these objectives also aim to perform analysis on educational indicators of professional development in teaching, which, emphasizing the processes of teaching and learning at school, could tell us, from the participant's response, aspects of the professional development of physical education teacher in their work context. In light of qualitative research, we used the technique to collect the semi structured interview. And to best to approach the phenomenon investigated, in addition to interviews, we conducted systematic visits to meet the participant's work context. We found that teachers have a profession that is eminently collective, but that also requires personal commitment and dedication, which indicates the need for autonomy and professional responsibility. As demonstrated by the participating teacher, professional development in teaching is an inherent element of the qualified performance in Physical Education as much sway over what each teacher intends to teach classes throughout the school. Beyond this specific area, we see it necessary for the Physical Education teacher to develop different strategies, using diverse methodologies and examples, optimize time and expand the opportunities for learning environments related to students' everyday life in and out of school, mobilize knowledge to that every child, every learner to appropriate the culture of body movement in a critical, independent and conscious. Amid all this process, it is the school community as a whole promotes opportunities, facilities and adequate periods for the development of teaching process, learning and teacher professional development. So it's important to establish analytical criteria, parameters and indicators that provide information contextualized these procedural elements.

Kielikylpyopetuksen kulttuuripedagoginen perusta

Saari, M. (Mikko) 28 November 2006 (has links)
Abstract The starting point of this formal-theoretical thesis is the didactic dilemma of language immersion. This means the emphasis on linguistics in prevailing research tradition, as well as the lack of theoretical basis in teaching practice. The thesis in theory consists of two parts and a didactic model, presented in the end. The base of the thesis structure and content have been the didactic questions what, why and how. The realization of these questions varies in different parts of the thesis from subject related to general didactics. The thesis analyses the didactic image of Swedish language immersion and from this concludes a culture-oriented didactic model, cultural pedagogic model. The basic elements of language immersion (functionality, overall coherence of comprehending information, the aim to develop child's linguistic awareness) form a natural part of cultural pedagogic model. Of the basic elements of language immersion can be concluded the basic factors of the model – culture, language, information, and (social) behaviour – which need to be taken account of equally in order to implement educational teaching. In the background of cultural pedagogic approach there is a certain concept of the relationship between a community and an individual. On community level it is a question of an identity being formed as well as individual's identification on the essence of prevailing culture. The problems of identity include the varied and complex values of the environment, which present the individual with challenges to which school must be able to respond. School has to develop its aims to support child's identity and self perception, both from the content and the operational point of view. When we ask, referring to Dewey's (1916) views, where the aim of the education is, answer is around us, in our environment. For this reason school should aim its operation to consider cultural factors. School operation should be both agreeable and significant. The basis needs to lie on considering the significant life functions in communication. Functionality as a word includes the possibility to pay attention to real individuality in education. Communication includes a concept of the essence of social behaviour. When we consider individual problems in supporting growth, it's a question of supporting child's inner personality, accepting child's essence. In practice adapting social and individual aspects in school life is enabled by uniting contents, such as in theme teaching. On functional level these culturally significant themes are implemented by means of project method. Making these didactically coherent curriculum themes concrete is the essential meaning of this thesis. / Tiivistelmä Tutkimuksen lähtökohtana on kielikylpyopetuksen didaktinen ongelma. Kysymysten konkretisointi työn eri osissa vaihtelee ainedidaktisesta yleisdidaktiseen. Tutkimuksessa jäsennetään teoreettisesti ruotsin kielen kielikylpyopetuksen didaktista kuvaa sekä johdetaan kulttuurisesti orientoitunut didaktinen malli, kulttuuripedagoginen malli . Kielikylpyopetuksen didaktiset peruselementit (toiminnallisuus, tiedonkäsityksen kokonaisvaltaisuus, lapsen kielellisen tietoisuuden kehittäminen) soveltuvat luontevasti osaksi kulttuuripedagogista ajattelutapaa. Näistä voidaan johtaa kulttuuripedagogisen mallin perustekijät – kulttuuri, kieli, tieto ja (sosiaalinen)toiminta – joiden tasapainoinen huomiointi opetuksessa mahdollistaa kasvattavan opetuksen toteuttamisen. Kulttuuripedagogisen ajattelutavan taustalla on tietty käsitys yhteisön ja yksilön välisestä suhteesta. Yhteisötasolla kyse on identiteetin muodostumisesta ja yksilön identifioitumisesta vallitsevan kulttuurin olemukseen. Identiteettiproblematiikkaan liittyy ympäristön moniarvoisuus ja kompleksisuus, jonka yksilölle so. lapselle asettamiin haasteisiin koulun on pystyttävä vastaaman. Koulun olisi kehitettävä sisällöllisiä ja toiminnallisia tavoitteitaan lapsen identiteettiä ja minuutta tukeviksi. Kun kysymme Deweyn (1916) näkemyksiin viitaten, missä kasvatuksen tavoite "sijaitsee", vastaus on ympärillämme, ympäristössämme. Siksi koulutoiminnan tulisi suuntautua kulttuuristen tekijöitten käsittelylle. Mielekkyyden lisäksi koulutoiminnan on oltava merkityksellistä. Sen on perustuttava kulttuurisesti merkityksellisten elämäntoimintojen käsittelyyn yksilöitten välisessä kommunikaatiossa. Toiminnallisuus sanana sisältää mahdollisuuden todellisen yksilöllisyyden huomiointiin opetuksessa. Kommunikaatio puolestaan sisältää käsityksen sosiaalisen toiminnan olemuksesta. Kun pohdimme yksilön problematiikkaa kasvun tukemisessa, kyse on lapsen sisäisen olemuksellisuuden tukemisesta, lapsen essentian hyväksymisestä. Kulttuuripedagogisen näkemyksen mukaan yhteiseen tavoitteeseen pyrkiminen, kulttuurisesti merkityksellisten elämäntoimintojen parissa, aidossa sosiaalisessa toiminnassa, antaa jokaiselle mahdollisuuden oman olemuksellisuuden toteuttamiseen. Käytännössä sosiaalisen ja yksilöllisyyden yhteensovittamisen koulun toiminnoissa mahdollistuu opetuksen sisällöllisen eheyttämisen, kuten teemakokonaisuuksien avulla. Toiminnallisesti näiden kulttuurisesti merkityksellisten teemojen toteuttaminen tapahtuu projektimetodin avulla. Tämän didaktisesti kokonaisvaltaisen ja opetussuunnitelmallisen tematiikan konkretisointi on tutkimuksen keskeinen tarkoitus.
