Nueva Central Operativa de Emergencias para la Policía Nacional del Perú

Gutiérrez Flores, José Leonardo 12 February 2019 (has links)
The project aims from the architectural point of view, to provide police officers with better quality spaces, to develop their operational activities and training. In addition, it seeks to dignify the police work and create an infrastructure that goes with the professionalism of patrolling, monitoring and preventing crime in our city. The design of this architecture creates safe spaces considering the operations and controlling external and internal risks. This space seeks to show the quality of the police service towards the community, and above all, the users will feel identified with the new modern image that is meant to contribute to the institution. All of this, without losing the correct functionality of a monitoring and emergencies center, which must be maintained as a variable due to its level of complexity. Investigating the international experience in police centers, I have been able to identify that the incorporation, well sectorized and defined of environments destined to the participation of the community, benefits the users by allowing them to reflect the new image of confidence and security that they want to present to the city they serve and protect. These environments are designed in such way that they don´t affect the operations and levels of security that allows to trespass the police center. On the other hand, the design of a large central space generates an essential order that allows to control circulation and sectorize the building by functions and activities, both, administrative and operational, service and citizen attention. It is for this reason that I decided to incorporate the vision of a new operational emergency center, adapting it to modern precepts and a brand-new image that the National and Foreign Police aims to reflect. / Tesis

Form and Functionality of Additively Manufactured Parts with Internal Structure

Ahsan, AMM Nazmul January 2019 (has links)
The tool-less additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing processes (3DP) use incremental consolidation of feed-stock materials to construct part. The layer by layer AM processes can achieve spatial material distribution and desired microstructure pattern with high resolution. This unique characteristics of AM can bring custom-made form and tailored functionality within the same object. However, incorporating form and functionality has their own challenge in both design and manufacturing domain. This research focuses on designing manufacturable topology by marrying form and functionality in additively manufactured part using infill structure. To realize the goal, this thesis presents a systematic design framework that focuses on reducing the gap between design and manufacturing of complex architecture. The objective is to develop a design methodology of lattice infill and thin shell structure suitable for additive manufacturing processes. Particularly, custom algorithmic approaches have been developed to adapt the existing porous structural patterns for both interior and exterior of objects considering application specific functionality requirements. The object segmentation and shell perforation methodology proposed in this work ensures manufacturability of large scale thin shell or hollowed objects and incorporates tailored part functionality. Furthermore, a computational design framework developed for tissue scaffold structures incorporates the actual structural heterogeneity of natural bones obtained from their medical images to facilitate the tissue regeneration process. The manufacturability is considered in the design process and the performances are measured after their fabrication. Thus, the present thesis demonstrates how the form of porous structures can be adapted to mingle with functionality requirements of the application as well as fabrication constraints. Also, this work bridges the design framework (virtual) and the manufacturing platform (realization) through intelligent data management which facilitates smooth transition of information between the two ends. / National Science Foundation #OIA-1355466 / National Science Foundation-DMR- MRI #1625704 / National Institute of Health - COBRE: CDTSPC; Grant # P20GM109024 / US-DOT # 693JK31850009CAAP / Dept. of Commerce Research-ND, Award # 17-08-G-191 / CSMS, NDEPSCoR / NDSU Grand Challenge and Development Foundation

Sundberg Tisell, Lisa January 2020 (has links)

Literacy programmes in Mozambique: adults’ motivations, needs and expectations – the case of Boane and Pemba

Buque, Domingos Carlos January 2013 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD / This study aims to determine the functionality of two adult literacy programmes (ALFA-REGULAR and ALFA-RÁDIO) provided by the Mozambican government, in Boane and Pemba. The prevailing popular conviction is that acquisition of literacy by individuals leads to positive and unproblematic social outcomes – the autonomous view of literacy (Street, 1984). This study forms a critique of this view, arguing, based on empirical evidence, that literacy is ideologically and culturally embedded in social practices and as such varies according to the social context. This is the ideological view of literacy (Street, 1984). This research employs an interdisciplinary approach constructed from the key notions of New Literacy Studies, Multiliteracies and Critical Literacy. The empirical research uses a qualitative research methodology based on a critical literacy ethnography informed by data gathered through interviews (with facilitators, learners, technicians and local leaders), classroom observations and document analysis. The empirical research seeks to determine the concept of literacy underpinning the literacy programmes in Boane and Pemba, addresses the profile of the programme facilitators and learners, examines the extent to which the literacy programmes respond to learners’ needs, motivations, expectations and access to technology, and explores the extent to which the literacy programmes address issues of development and citizenship.

Manchaiah, Vinaya, Vlaescu, George, Varadaraj, Srinivas, Aronson, Elizabeth Parks, Fagelson, Marc A., F., Maria, Munoz, Andersson, Gerhard, Beukes, Eldre W. 28 July 2020 (has links)
Objective: Although tinnitus is one of the most commonly reported symptoms in the general population, patients with bothersome tinnitus are challenged by issues related to accessibility of care and intervention options that lack strong evidence to support their use. Therefore, creative ways of delivering evidence-based interventions are necessary. Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) demonstrates potential as a means of delivering this support but is not currently available in the United States. This article discusses the adaptation of an ICBT intervention, originally used in Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom, for delivery in the United States. The aim of this study was to (a) modify the web platform's features to suit a U.S. population, (b) adapt its functionality to comply with regulatory aspects, and (c) evaluate the credibility and acceptability of the ICBT intervention from the perspective of health care professionals and patients with bothersome tinnitus. Materials/Method:Initially, the iTerapi ePlatform developed in Sweden was adopted for use in the United States. Functional adaptations followed to ensure that the platform's functional and security features complied with both institutional and governmental regulations and that it was suitable for a U.S. population. Following these adaptations, credibility and acceptance of the materials were evaluated by both health care professionals (n = 11) and patients with bothersome tinnitus (n = 8). Results:Software safety and compliance regulatory assessments were met. Health care professionals and patients reported favorable acceptance and satisfaction ratings regarding the content, suitability, presentation, usability, and exercises provided in the ICBT platform. Modifications to the features and functionality of the platform were made according to user feedback. Conclusions:Ensuring that the ePlatform employed the appropriate features and functionalities for the intended population was essential to developing the Internet-based interventions. The favorable user evaluations indicated that the intervention materials were appropriate for the tinnitus population in the United States.

Reduction of Fat Content in Processed Meats Using Hot-Boning and Cold-Batter Mincing Technology

Wonderly, Morgan P 01 June 2020 (has links) (PDF)
Processed meats have received negative publicity due to high fat contents that have been linked to adverse effects on human health. Fat is an essential ingredient in many processed meat products, so reducing this all while maintaining the desired characteristics of the product is a challenge. The purpose of this study was to generate low-fat meat products using a combination of hot-boning/crust-freeze-air-chilling (HB-CFAC) and cold-batter mincing (CBM) technologies. Pork hams were subjected to HB-CFAC or chill-boning/crust-freeze-air-chilling (CB-CFAC) prior to 3 min pre-mincing and 6 min mincing for control gels with back-fat addition or low-fat gels with water addition instead of the reduced back-fat. Raw meat quality, protein functionality and textural properties were analyzed through various analyses. The pH values of HB muscle and cooked gels were significantly higher than those of CB muscle and cooked gels. The fat and moisture contents of control gels was higher and lower, respectively, than those of low-fat gels, regardless of HB or CB. The protein functionality and gel forming ability of HB muscle were superior to those of the CB muscle, regardless of fat content. These results indicate that fat can be reduced with no loss of textural quality because cold-batter mincing of the HB-CFAC muscle resulted in higher gel forming ability than that of CB-CFAC muscle.
