Länken / The Link

Larsson, David January 2014 (has links)
The location Metro Station Stadshagen with the exit to Mariedalsvägen is located like a meeting between many places. We are greeted by parks, one in front and one behind us as seen from the subway exit. A stone's throw from here, we have Stadshagens sports ground in the east, the area around the newly built Hornsbergs Strand in the west, allotments to the north, Karlbergs Slott for those who goes further a bit north, but most of all the meetings and the links between the parks, the area and the subway. Without the metro the site would lose much of the activity that we find here. My task: to clarify the link between the metro and the location. The links I let the meeting between the underground and the building become a gym that relates to the underground system and the sports ground a bit further on along St. Göransgatan. The gym continues out of the park, thus creating a link between the park and building, this together with the staircase that continues linking park and subway. In between the park and metro we place the entrance the residential parts of the building. The design continues to relate to the subway. The building supported by beams and columns in concrete are given a polished facade that allows itself to reveal its underlying structure.

Work it Out : Kompakt och komplett träningsutrustning för hemmet

Despotovic, Nikola January 2022 (has links)

Tělocvična Crossfit Praha jako aréna vyjednávání genderových identit / Crossfit Praha gym as arena for the negotiation of gender identities

Kozílková, Petra January 2012 (has links)
This diploma thesis concerns the participation of women on exercise program Crossfit whereby they gain various physical skills, mainly muscles and strength, which are becoming their natural component. Such physical and social experience is embedded in one structured space -Crossfit Praha gym, as primary research field of this study. Gym is here perceived as dynamic space in which women are through their participation, physical performance and sometimes also through their appearance challenging the gender norms prevailing in society. Within the participant observation of this diploma thesis author strives to bring closer - by use of her own body as research instrument- everyday experience of these females in researched sport discipline and locality.

A Systems Approach to Increasing LMU Undergraduate Gym Attendance

O’Rourke, Timothy 01 January 2022 (has links)
Due to lack of motivation, education, and free time, the Burns Recreation Center sees only 20% of LMU undergraduate students daily during academic terms. It’s no secret that gym attendance is beneficial for your health. Getting enough physical activity is important for quality of life. The problem we’re seeing is not enough gym attendance by LMU undergraduate students. The school gym sees only 20% of undergraduate students daily and 40% of undergraduate students never visit the school gym! The proposed solution to address this problem is a community specific mobile app that is designed to motivate, educate, and inspire students to visit the gym.

Designing for Stimulating Social Interaction in Outdoor Gym

Zhang, Xiwen January 2020 (has links)
In the world where the Internet has nearly linked people in every corner, for some people, the nearby places seem to disappear. It might also lead to the alienation of friends and neighbours. For addressing the disadvantages of the change, this study aims to design for stimulating social interaction in outdoor gyms that are distributed in most communities and parks. Towards this goal, I engaged in designing and evaluating a movement-based interaction project. I invited 5 participants to work as designers for generating design ideas, using reflecting somaesthetics and bodystorming design methods. The bodystorming braid was used for depicting how design ideas generated and evolved. Design ideas were packaged into 3 types of design solutions -- cooperative play, competition and just talking. The most practical solutions for each kind were selected for building prototypes. These prototypes were evaluated with Wizard-of-Oz techniques by 4 participants, followed by a focus group. The qualitative analysis surfaced the important factors that impacted social interaction and major users, including the target users, usage, interaction, and maintenance.
