Konstruktion av steghållare till brandbilar / Construction of ladder holder for fire engines

Svanström, Joel, Muschke, Daniel January 2010 (has links)
<p>High demands are set on all equipment used in emergency service work, where small margins can be the distinguishing factor between life and death during a rescue operation. It is important that tools such as ladders quickly and easily can be dismounted from a vehicle and still satisfy the regulatory requirements for securing loads during transport. The existing solution for getting ladders down from the roof of a fire engine requires a large manual effort from the user in an ergonomically unsound posture.</p><p>In this degree project a new ladder holder is developed with focus on the user to solve the ergonomic problems and at the same time create a more compact design that can be adapted to several different types of ladders. After an initial pre-study with user-interviews and measurement of forces and distances a set of requirements was formulated that came to govern the project's direction. Creative methods were used to generate concepts that improved the function and through design solutions, calculations and testing in CAD a base for manufacturing of a new product was created.</p><p>The result is a completely new type of ladder holder that minimizes the user's manual effort and simplifies the securing of ladders in the holder. Measures have been taken to reduce material usage and manufacturing cost, while aiming for reliability and durability. Further development and construction of physical prototypes is needed before the new ladder holder can go into production.</p> / <p>Höga krav ställs på all utrustning som används vid räddningstjänstens arbete, då små marginaler kan vara skillnaden mellan liv och död under en utryckning vid olycka.

Studies into the Initial Conditions, Flow Rate, and Containment System of Oil Field Leaks in Deep Water

Holder, Rachel 16 December 2013 (has links)
Oil well blow outs are investigated to determine methods to quickly and accurately respond to an emergency situation. Flow rate is needed to guide containment and dispersal operations. The Stratified Integral Multiphase Plume, SIMP, model was used to investigate the range of initial conditions available to integral modeling. Sensitivity to initial conditions is modest, but without experimental data at the appropriate scale the most accurate condition is unable to be determined. Flow rates are difficult to directly measure in blow out situations, so another method must be determined; therefore, sensitivity of several parameters to flow rate was also evaluated. Methane concentration in the first intrusion can be used in conjunction with velocity and trap height measurements to determine flow rate using an integral model. Plume width and temperature were determined to have little sensitivity. Separately, a containment dome was tested in the laboratory to determine if a full scale dome can be used to contain an oil leak in the field. The dome was found to have satisfactory entrapment in the designed position.

Développement de portes-outils, d'outils et de modèles pour la maîtrise du perçage vibratoire / Development of tool holders, tools and models for control of self-sustained vibration drilling

Naisson, Pierre 06 September 2011 (has links)
Self-sustained vibration drilling offers the technological breakthrough needed to increase the performance of deep drilling. A special tool holder is designed to allow axial vibration, and comes as a spring mass system, whose characteristics are identified by the use of the theory of stability lobes. Identification of the geometric characteristics of an optimal tool requires the characterization of tribological aspects, mechanical properties of the machined material, and the definition of a proper edge preparation. Finally, this process is driven by the energy of the cut, and two types of effort have been identified. The Edge-Material-Pair Method is based on the discretization of the drilling thrust force during penetration phase, while the analytical approach can predict forces from a cut pattern identified from oblique cutting tests.

Propriétés analytiques et diophantiennes de certaines séries de Fourier arithmétiques / Analytic and Diophantine properties of certain arithmetic Fourier series

Petrykiewicz, Izabela 29 September 2014 (has links)
We consider certain Fourier series which arise from modular or automorphicforms. We study their analytic properties: differentiability, modulus of continuity and theH¨older regularity exponent. We use two different methods. One is based on finding anditerating a functional equation for the function studied (Itatsu’s method), the second onecomes from wavelet analysis (Jaffard’s method). The crucial steps in both of them arebased on the underlined modularity. We find that the analytic properties of these seriesat an irrational x are related to the fine diophantine properties of x, in a very precise way.The work was motivated by the study of the Riemann series.
