Dialog om staden : En studie om medborgardialogens roll och betydelse för stadsplaneringen i Nacka kommun

Rydberg Åkesson, Christian January 2012 (has links)
This master thesis explores the nature of public participation as a central and most current subject in the field of urban planning. A first impression exposes a seemingly unanalyzed consensus on the values and benefits which public participation provides the process of urban planning. The city may be a concern to all its inhabitants; hence knowledge and opinions of the local public are of great importance for the urban development. But is there really something new to these assumptions, and are the advantages of increased public participation in urban planning always obvious?   By using action research as a main method, I have put myself into the context of the Swedish municipality of Nacka and their projects dealing with the development of public participation. The research process combines my support in practice and documentation with the investigation of established theories, the public discussion on public participation, as well as the rise of the matter. By doing so this thesis assigns to the task of portraying the current state of public participation in urban planning in a Swedish context.  The case studies, performed in Nacka, reveal what the measures of a municipality consist of and on what goals these initiatives are based, while at the same time investigating whether action researching the local case could generate more general conclusions and guidelines for public participation. The research swiftly leads to a number of reoccurring advocating arguments. These are given ground for by either strengthening or making the planning process more efficient, or by putting emphasis on the democratic aspects of ascribing power and influence to the citizens. Nevertheless there is critique and skepticism as well, highlighted in arguments of inefficiency and incompatibility with representative democracy. Theories on, for instance, multiple publics and Arnstein’s ladder of participation are close at hand, when analyzing the friction between the views and their relevance in practice. Nevertheless, the ongoing debate and discussion turns out to handle the potential conflicts in a general and unproblematized way. One discusses why public participation is important, but rarely how and when. That in itself says quite a bit about the current views on the matter. At that point this action research turns out to generate a valuable discussion and vital posers concerning e.g. clarity and aims when involving citizens, the significance of both phase and level of participation, the role of physical/technical preconditions for dialogue, and the measures required to turn temporary projects into continuous processes and established routines.  The thesis indeed focuses on a specific municipality. However, by connecting a practical case to both ongoing discussions and more or less well known theoretical concepts, it hopefully offers increased apprehension and widening perspectives to planners, regardless of their location.

Konstruktion av steghållare till brandbilar / Construction of ladder holder for fire engines

Svanström, Joel, Muschke, Daniel January 2010 (has links)
High demands are set on all equipment used in emergency service work, where small margins can be the distinguishing factor between life and death during a rescue operation. It is important that tools such as ladders quickly and easily can be dismounted from a vehicle and still satisfy the regulatory requirements for securing loads during transport. The existing solution for getting ladders down from the roof of a fire engine requires a large manual effort from the user in an ergonomically unsound posture. In this degree project a new ladder holder is developed with focus on the user to solve the ergonomic problems and at the same time create a more compact design that can be adapted to several different types of ladders. After an initial pre-study with user-interviews and measurement of forces and distances a set of requirements was formulated that came to govern the project's direction. Creative methods were used to generate concepts that improved the function and through design solutions, calculations and testing in CAD a base for manufacturing of a new product was created. The result is a completely new type of ladder holder that minimizes the user's manual effort and simplifies the securing of ladders in the holder. Measures have been taken to reduce material usage and manufacturing cost, while aiming for reliability and durability. Further development and construction of physical prototypes is needed before the new ladder holder can go into production.

Hanna, Andreas January 2020 (has links)
Christ's words "do this in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:20) point to an eschatological realism realized in the gathering. The word of Christ institutes a liturgical praxis that was received by the ancient church and has since been practiced for several generations until today. The Syriac speaking churches, which are also in continuity with the Messianic faith, followed by the apostolic tradition, do not escape the question of eschatology, which is of great importance and central to Syriac Christianity. To answer the question of why eschatology is important in the Syriac tradition? is comprehensive, large and does not accommodate the scope of work. However, this work will try to answer the question of whether Jacob of Serugh's eschatological thinking develops in relation to Ephraim in comparison to Isaac the Syrian. Therefore, this work will try to get a glimpse of the eschatological basic view within the understanding of Syriac Christianity. There will be a positioning of Jacob of Serugh in relation to Ephraim the Syrian with comparison to Isaac the Syrian to gain a better understanding of the direction that emerges during the turning point of the fourteenth century in connection with those ecclesiological battles during that time. It may not provide an answer to everything but certainly an answer to where we started this development regarding eschatology. I want to thank my supervisor, Michael Hjälm for the good advice, support and guidance through the work. I also hope that reading this essay will be useful and continued studies in the subject.
