Impressões, acúmulos e rasgos : procedimentos litográficos e seus desvios

Kanaan, Helena January 2011 (has links)
This thesis is the result of an artistic research based on lithography atelier experience. Developed !om "##$ to "#%#, the investigation combines practice and theorical reflexion, with specific jag on the engraving procedure which has as matrix the limestone and its possible displacements. The research has as main goal to explore possible technical deviations translating the engraving concept subjugated to edition to a technical-esthetical work with focus on contemporary art. It is presupposed that the possibility of a making that includes a phenomenological look, crossing technical procedures and creative processes, amalgamating latex to the litographies, in order to create what is called ‘Polybodies’. The concepts discussed concern the alteration estates of the images, caused by the chemical-physical reactions of the materials, and by the experimental attitude towards the technical attitude. Impression is the operational concept that drives the investigation. Litograph matrix, water, greases, oxides, paper, latex introduce a continuous sliding between the practice and the perceived and established phenomena in the relative non permanence of the bodies. The obtained works evidence a fluidic physicality making allusion to the formless. The (in)formal transitoriety inerent to the lithographic watery and the latex manipulation problematize the author function.

Pequeno mapeamento de espaços experenciados : inventário de impressões e compartilhamentos

Wendt, Kelly January 2017 (has links)
This research is built through poetic research on the process of creating Geoperceptive Mapping of Experienced Spaces. The research, which gathers in inventory collections of abandoned urban spaces, found through routes designed in the city of Pelotas-RS. It revisits concepts and notions of other areas such as geography, history and philosophy to define the experienced spaces as the encounter of the body in space-time, just as it refers to the wandering in the context of art to think about the operative modes of work. It seeks an understanding of the languages, photography, printing and sharing used in harmony with the poetic and important for the area. Experienced spaces are gathered in groups of works organized in two inventories according to the language used. Inventory ONE brings together works on the use of photography as a record of an instant, referring to the document and to collecting. Different dispositives are presented, like digital photography, and through reproduction. The Inventory TWO, concentrates the works that discuss digitalization, the multiple and sharing. The digitalization of the drawings is recurrent, creating the possibility to reproduce and share it. Images are multi-character and have purpose of circulation. Finally the works express about memory and space, to memorize through the reproduction of images, making a critique about the misuse of collective space. The thesis refers to the works of poetics that have the answer activate spatial memory bringing a perspective that questions the use of the city and how we perceive it.

The material studied is the construction of artist's books and fanzines, from the possibilities of reproduction of the image, such as woodcut, calcogravura, xerogravura, serigrafia, stencil, monotype, stamps, engraving with the use of plastic matrices and other alternative materials; investigate different types of printing, such as, offset, photocopy, image transfer, digital engraving and plots, as well as alternative techniques using plastic matrices and collages. Therefore the engraving appears as an interlocutor of the possible dialogues, being in the middle of the experiments through techniques treated in this research as matrices for reproduction and creation of new matrices, in a process of comings and goings that walks by the diversity of techniques and that proposes experiments with new matrices and also with traditional engraving techniques.

The impact of complimentary advertising strategies on sponsored search advertisement

Van der Linde, Etienne 12 May 2012 (has links)
The aim of this research was to find relationships between complimentary advertising strategies and sponsored search advertisement (SSA) in order to formulate a model to maximise return on investment achieved from online sponsored search advertisements. The results obtained from statistical analyses of SSA campaign data showed that complimentary online and offline advertisement campaigns have various different correlations to impressions, click-through rates, number of pages visited, time spent visiting a website, bounce rate of visitors to the website, cost-per-click and number of new registrations per keyword search from visitors gained through SSA campaigns. In particular, online display advertisements were found to have a slight positive correlation with new registrations made by customers gained through a simultaneously running SSA campaign. Offline radio adverts were found to have a positive correlation with impressions gained for SSA campaigns, whilst at the same time showing a negative correlation with the number of pages viewed by website visitors obtained through the SSA campaign. Some negative correlations to SSA campaign performance were also found, with the time visitors spent viewing the website decreasing, their bounce rate increasing and the cost-per-clicks for the keywords in the SSA campaign also increasing during periods when offline radio adverts were active. Offline television adverts were found to have a negative correlation with impressions gained for SSA campaigns, as well as the click-through rate for the keywords in these SSA campaigns. Offline television adverts did however also show a negative correlation with the cost-per-clicks for keywords in the SSA campaigns. Finally, a graphical model was developed to illustrate these correlations found between complimentary advertisement campaigns and SSA performance metrics. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / unrestricted

Gender Ideology and Impressions Toward Opposite-Gendered Coworkers

Singleton, Pamela 01 January 2020 (has links)
To achieve organizational effectiveness, leaders must examine what impacts productivity, such as workplace equality for women hindered to the point of exclusion and discrimination. The purpose of this correlational study was to determine if gender ideology, as the predictor variable, and male and female impressions toward an opposite-gendered coworker, as the criterion variable, predicts an individual's impressions toward an opposite-gendered coworker, in alignment with gender role theory. The Gender Role Ideology measure was used to assess perceptions about appropriate roles for men and women, and Coworker Resource Scale was used to assess the nature of coworker relationships among 203 middle- to upper-level managers. Data collection was conducted via Survey Monkey and SPSS was used to analyze the data. According to study results, there were no statistically significant correlations between the predictor and criterion variables. However, future research is warranted in relation to opposite-gendered coworkers and their gender ideologies. An in-depth examination of how gender ideologies relate to employee interaction has positive social change implications for workplace attitudes through improved employee cohesiveness as opposed to discrimination and exclusion. The proposed implications for positive social change from workplace attitude awareness include knowledge useful to employees in shifting their gender ideologies, increasing levels of employee interaction, and moving toward a more supportive and satisfactory existence in the workplace.

The Door in the Threshold.

Volkan, Ani Kristine 08 May 2010 (has links) (PDF)
This paper is the supporting document for the Master of Fine Arts exhibition, The Door in the Threshold, held in the Slocumb Galleries at East Tennessee State University from March 15-19, 2010. The exhibition contains twelve pieces of artwork, mounted on the wall. The paper expands upon such themes as memory and family as explored by the work in the gallery. The title of both the paper and show reference the impact of my Armenian heritage on my creative process. Doors in Armenian folklore were sacred places containing the threshold to the spiritual. Thus, my pieces are meant to become doors to the threshold of my past. Also discussed in the paper are the influence of the quilt form and connections to the work of artists Arshile Gorky, Whitfield Lovell, and Karen Hampton.

Understanding the Feelings, Perceptions, and Attitudes of Students Who Participate in a Service Study Abroad Program

Jackson, Jennifer Jean 06 August 2007 (has links) (PDF)
This study was designed to understand the experience of being a service study abroad student. It examined feelings, perceptions and attitudes that developed as students from Brigham Young University participated in a service-centered study abroad program to Guadalajara, Mexico. The study enumerates participants' initial, developing, and final impressions during service study abroad and shows that students go through an extensive process of discovering, reformulating, and solidifying their attitudes and perceptions as they interpret their experiences. The study examined factors related to language and culture, but focused on the service component of the program. It found that service study abroad participants feel their experience is more successful when they perceive that the service they render is needed, service assignments align with personal interests, duties are clearly outlined, and meaningful responsibilities are assigned.

INITIATING ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS ONLINE: ONLINE DATERS’ IMPRESSIONS OF SEXUAL CONTENT IN OPENING LINES

Amanda Elizabeth Lilly (16631076) 21 July 2023 (has links)

Online daters use a variety of messages to initiate relationships, some of which contain sexual content. Research has explored some extreme versions of initiation messages that contain sexual content that are used in online dating. However, there has been a lack of examination into the variation in these types of initiation strategies. The current study explored different types of initiation messages that contain sexual content used in online dating and recipients’ impressions of those messages. The first study utilized focus groups to uncover the different types of initiation messages that contain sexual content that online daters have sent and received, as well as their perceptions of those messages. The second study employed findings from Study 1 to develop and validate the impressions of initiation messages that contain sexual content (IIMCSC) scale and conduct an exploratory correlation analysis on how factors from the IIMCSC scale relate to relational outcomes. The development of a typology of initiation messages that contain sexual content along with the IIMCSC scale to measure recipients’ impressions of those messages are useful in understanding how these messages play a role in the initiation of romantic relationships. The developed tools address the need for more comprehensive understanding and investigation of the variety of sexual content exchanged in online romantic relationship initiation.
