"Demented people and elks are being equipped with GPS!" : A study of the news program Rapport's from 1979 to 2009 / "Dementa och älgar utrustas med GPS!"

Cedergren, Johanna, Marmolin, Maria January 2009 (has links)

The aim of this study was to examine which effect tabloidization has had on the news content and the presentation of the Swedish news program Rapport, during the years 1979 and 2009. Rapport is broadcasted in the Public Service channel "Sveriges Television".

Our main concern was to examine whether Rapport has stayed true to their assignment or if they have made changes to appeal to the popularised audience. To do so we focused on three questions: What is the journalist’s role? What becomes news? Who are interviewed?

We used theories such as social representation, news value and media logic to help us perform the analysis. Qualitative methods were used to analyse the news broadcasts, of which John Langer’s story-types was the primary method. In addition to that we used the method of semiotics to reveal signs of tabloidization in the imagery of the broadcasts.

Our results showed that the tabloidization of Rapport lies in the format rather than the news content. The changes in the news content are barely noticeable, even though the time span is quite long. The format however, has seen some tabloidization in 2009, with changes to the vignette and the feature structure. We also found changes in which people that Rapport chose to interview and changes among the journalists themselves. For instance we discovered that the representation of different groups of people is much more varied in 2009 than it was in 1979. The results also showed that the journalistic role has shifted from the task of educating the citizens to the task of being sensational and entertaining.

Výskyt a forma tzv. novinářského subjuntivu (subjuntivo periodístico) v současných španělských žurnalistických textech / The so called journalistic subjunctive (subjuntivo periodístico) in current Spanish journalistic texts

DOUBKOVÁ, Kristýna January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine the preference in the use of so-called "journalistic subjunctive" in contemporary Spanish journalistic texts. The theoretical part based on specialist literature describes the Spanish modal system. Greater attention is being paid to the subjunctive, its form and use in individual sentences and in subordinate substantive, adjectival and adverbial clauses. The main part of the theoretical part is the introduction of so-called "journalistic subjunctive", therefore imperfect subjunctive form (Pretérito imperfecto de subjuntivo), which is used instead of the indicative past perfect or past tense (Pretérito pluscuamperfecto de indicativo o Pretérito indefinido). This form of subjunctive is a typical feature of journalistic style, so the very end of the theoretical part is dedicated to the characteristics of the Spanish journalistic texts. The research part is an analysis of the occurrence and form of so-called "journalistic subjunctive" on a selected sample of Spanish journalistic texts, focusing on the context of this phenomenon. The basis for the practical part of the thesis is a corpus of Spanish Royal Academy El Corpus del Espa?ol del Siglo XXI (CORPES XXI), which includes texts created from 2001 to 2012.

With two main goals, we sought to identify, first, genders, shapes and types of journalistic texts present in the magazine between 1928 and 1975, besides defining the peculiarities of the informative journalism. On the other hand, sought to discover what the main issues addressed by it. Both efforts were performed in order to define the profile of O Cruzeiro. The work was guided by two methods, the first, Formal Analysis which was used mainly in the identification of genres from the Theory of Genres News. The second method was to Content Analysis by Iterative construction used at the time of those themes. At the end that O Cruzeiro was predominantly an opinionated magazine and its Informative journalism that differs from his journalism practiced today, as the model-building news. As regards to journalistic themes dealt with, we see that the issues related to social environment dominated initially, and the political gain prominence over the years. Moreover, his trademark big photo reports held with unreleased themes as Candomblé and asylums, among others, give this publication an emphasis on the Brazilian scene, contributing to the same remains to this day as one of the best magazines of all time.

Of the opinion journalistic text through the translatological analysis of committed information and its condensed expression in headlines and humour

Abisaad-Mohawej, Nidale 28 June 2011 (has links)
This study deals with particular problems arising when translating a journalistic text, particularly an editorial, depending on its specific features as well as journalistic prose;its purpose is to bring out a few remarks clarifying the French-Arabic translation of opinion journalistic text. The aim of this research is to study the translation strategies applied in a corpus made up of editorials taken from the French magazine Le Point. The study shows the important impact of culture in translating editorials. Thus, we firstnoticed that editorial headlines are influenced by the discourse genre and the journalistic tradition in which they are produced. The interpretation of these short textual segments requires a complex construction of meaning on the part of the translator. There is atendency of the French editorialist to use various strategies and techniques employed for persuasion in his editorials and headlines including humour. The study shows that the translator should be sensitive not only to conventions applying across genres in Arabicjournalistic culture, but also to humour effects and cultural citations in order for theintended effect to be achieved. Our research highlights as well the important role of thesource culture to determine the global translational behaviour.

Proceed With Caution : A Bourdieusian Study on the Journalistic Field, Digitalization and Social Media Use Among Swedish Metropolitan Journalists

Muratspahić, Amela January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this study was to understand how Swedish journalists balance social media use with traditional journalistic ideals and journalism ethics in a context of increasing digitalization, in light of a number of journalistic profiles being criticized for sharing inappropriate content on their social media accounts. The study is rooted in Bourdieu’s field theory and the research questions pertained to how journalists, occupying different positions in the journalistic field, used and viewed social media in relation to journalistic ideals and -ethics as well as their news organizations’ social media policies. In order to answer the research questions, 12 in-depth interviews were conducted with Swedish journalists from five national publications. In the analysis, Bourdieu’s concepts of field, capital, habitus, but also practical sense and hysteresis were used to analytically describe the participants’ social media use. The findings indicated that the participants used social media frequently in their work, which could be analyzed as part of the field’s doxa. Yet, they used different strategies of risk management on their own social media accounts in order to protect themselves and their well-being as well as not risking going against journalistic ideals and their organization’s social media policies, e.g., by avoiding posting own content, separating professional and personal content on different platforms and not being private on social media. Due to successful risk management and practical sense in regard to social media use, the participants experienced hysteresis to a very low extent. Finally, the analysis concluded with a discussion on potential implications the study has on the field’s autonomy, in terms of increased audience interaction and strength of journalistic ideals, which was seen as both weakening and potentially strengthening autonomy. Key words: Journalistic field, Bourdieu, field theory, social media, digitalization, journalistic ideals, Sweden, hysteresis, autonomy

Sağlam, Tuğba January 2023 (has links)
This study analyzes how Swedish and Turkish journalists cope with threats, hatred, and harassment, and what role journalistic ideals and organizational support play in their coping process. The study is based on qualitative interviews, analyzed utilizing aspects from the theoretical framework of systems and coping theories. The aim of the study is to delve into personal experiences in circumstances where journalists face threat, hatred, or harassment to increase our understanding of how journalists cope with them and what happens to their journalistic ideals during this process. The results show that both groups have a similar view on which journalistic ideals are important. Both groups of journalists used emotion-focused and problem-focused coping mechanisms which utilized journalistic ideals in one way or another, to feel control over the situation. In some cases, ideals were experienced as comforting, and in others, they were compromised. Lastly, organizational support was seen and experienced as a part of individual coping only for Swedish journalists, who expressed it as a primary method to cope with hostile situations, while it remained absent for Turkish journalists in this study.

A CONSTRUÇÃO DO ENUNCIADO JORNALÍSTICO NO TWITTER

Teixeira, Mabel Oliveira 28 October 2011 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-03-22T17:26:39Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 mab.pdf: 6149568 bytes, checksum: 94a2f808a709ed2c7bc97c6a4943be74 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-10-28 / This work functions as a multidisciplinary approach which aims to characterize journalistic enunciations on Twitter through the observation of the writing techniques used in its composition. Desiring to achieve such an objective, we make use of a first bibliography review which exploits the standard technical model of the news constitution (standard journalistic enunciation), the standard journalistic language and the new technical possibilities arisen with the cyberspace, the Twitter tools, and subsequently the analysis of 134 journalistic enunciations found in it. It is intended, thus, to achieve our objective by observing how the cyberspace and the Twitter platform fall upon the application of the standard journalistic technique in the constitution of the news published as tweets and what are its possible idiosyncrasies relating to the traditional journalistic enunciation. Our central presupposition is that the hierarchical and objective pattern which orientates the composition of the standard news and, therefore, of the very language which characterizes the journalism as we know it, starts being supplanted by more horizontally and interactive models which remodel the standard technique and, consequently, modify the journalistic enunciation, interfering with its discursive effects / O presente trabalho se coloca como uma abordagem multidisciplinar que visa caracterizar os enunciados jornalísticos no Twitter através da observação das técnicas de redação empregadas à sua constituição.

A informação jornalística em rádios de fronteira: a questão da binacionalidade em Ponta Porã-Pedro Juan Caballero e Corumbá-Puerto Quijarro / The journalistic information in border radios: the inquiry of the binationality in Ponta-Porã - Pedro Juan Caballero and Corumbá-Puerto Quijarro

Ota, Daniela Cristiane 20 September 2006 (has links)
The research aimed at analyzing the journalistic content of Cerro Cora and FM Melodia radio stations and certifying that the medium represents in a symbolic manner the culture and identity of the neighbouring communities. The analysis took place on the borders of Ponta Porã-Juan Caballero and Corumbá-Puerto Quijarro and the choice of the research objects, i.e. the neighbouring communities\' radio stations, happened thanks to their binational characteristic. Since it is a borderline region of Brazil, with countries separated by land borders and with no actual barriers between them, the exchange between communities is common-place and thus such municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraguay and Bolivia are very peculiar subjects to research. Hence, the goal here is to identify whether the language and experiences of the population of the borders are present in the broadcast of the radio stations.

This thesis seeks to elaborate the phenomenon of circulation of knowledges about Journalism in the mediatization of society, especially as regards the understanding of linkages between established circuits and communicational flows more tentatives of practice and criticismo journalistic. To this end, experiments of journalistic practices (production of blogs and sites by amateur and appropriation of news in social networks) and the experiences of journalistic criticism (circulation of academic texts and experts in Journalism on the Internet) are observed. From the analysis of these cases, that are observed only in its features that it work to the phenomenon, we seek to apprehend relations (affectations, promises and expectations) between circuits and communicational flows of practice and criticism journalistic in the mediatization of society. The theoretical frameworks that work these observables are mediatization's perspectives specially developed by Braga (2006, 2012a, 2014). As for journalistic practice, this thesis produces inferences about the ability of amateurs to dominate media logics and create their own spaces of production of meanings and narratives about the world, apart from, but also in relation to major media. About journalistic criticism, the inferences produced reveal a scenario in which academics circuits established are closed between the researchers themselves, while comunicational flows of criticism about the production of the major media are exercised, in a dispersed and attempt manner, in the networks social. In both lines of analysis - of the practical and the criticism journalistic - we can saw that knowledges about the Journalism are circulating in the mediatization of society, regardless of the performance of academic or professional circuits.
