Sobre as possibilidades (re)leituras da ética da psicanálise: articulações entre o seminário VII e o seminário XX / The possibility of reappraising the ethics of psychoanalysis: articulations between seminars VII and XX

Breno Herman Sniker 25 June 2015 (has links)
The objective of the present work is: understanding the logic of the ethics of psychoanalysis initiating from an analysis of the formulations proposed by Lacan in Seminar VII comparing it with the logic that formalises the forms of jouissance in Seminar XX and articulating the possibilities of a reassessment of the ethic related to such logic. To do so, we proceeded along the following path in our research: firstly, we analysed the ethical panorama of Seminar VII from the Lacanian critique to the ethics of Aristotle and Kant; then, we continued discussing the obstacles of the ethics presented in Seminar VII setting out the logic of sexuation as a possible choice of Lacan for the formalisation of these obstacles. Finally, we utilized the logical manner resulting from the varying modes of jouissance as Lacan articulates them in Seminar XX in the rereading of the proposals of the seminar on ethics. From the point of view of the method followed, it is theoretical-conceptual research, epistemologically oriented, the methodological axis of which is a comparative analysis between two distinct approaches of Lacan regarding the ethical theme. Our intention is to compare and contrast the concepts involved in both approaches, observing from this discussion the theoretical and practical consequences for the ethics of psychoanalysis. We also proposed to contrast the logic which constantly underpins the teaching of Lacan, pinpointing both the similarities and differences

O estatuto teórico-clínico da sublimação no ensino de Jacques Lacan: a sublimação como tratamento do gozo / The theoretical and clinical status of sublimation throughout the teachings of Jacques Lacan: the sublimation as a treatment of jouissance

Clarissa Metzger 14 April 2014 (has links)
Our intention with this paper was to research the theoretical and clinical status of sublimation throughout the teachings of Lacan, emphasizing the moments when he dwells on the topic, advancing his elaborations of the concept and working on the hypothesis that sublimation is a possible treatment of jouissance. After the seminar he most extensively dedicates to the topic of sublimation, in 1959-1960, when he proposes that sublimation raises an object to the dignity of das Ding, the concept appears sporadically throughout his subsequent seminars. But it is in 1966-67 that sublimation once again captures the attention of Lacan, when he begins to articulate it with other important concepts of the theory, namely: alienation, repetition, acting out and passage to the act. Additionally, he discusses the articulation of sublimation with the sexual act and, consequently, with castration. For this, he makes articulated use of Kleins quadrangle, De Morgans laws and Eulers circles to demonstrate the logical relation between the elements. From the very first references to the term through to the elaborations of seminar VII in 1959-60, we can see that it is possible to assert the eminently clinical vocation of the concept of sublimation as a possible treatment of jouissance, in articulation with other important concepts in the teachings of Lacan, such as jouissance, fantasy and act. Based on the definition that sublimation raises an object to the dignity of das Ding, Lacan in 1966-1967 discusses its presence as satisfaction that is linked to repetition, but that can be separated from it. Sublimation is also presented as a solution to the impasse of the paradox of fantasy, which seeks to disguise the sexual relationship that does not exist. We propose, drawing on Lacan, that sublimation is a treatment of jouissance that enables the subject, based on repetition, to advance towards a threshold, but not pass it. This advance is related to the subjects possibility of dispensing with repression, which distinguishes sublimation from the symptom. The proximity of sublimation to the sexual relationship that does not exist was evident since seminar XIV and, in seminar XVI, delivered in 1968-1969, sublimation returns for the last time to Lacans teachings as being feminine, articulated with the non-existence of the sexual relationship and as a privileged possibility in perversion, which further clarifies, in our opinion, its status as treatment of lethal jouissance, in that it alludes to the emptiness of das Ding, creating from this emptiness. Based on this analysis of sublimation, we embark on a discussion of the documentary Elena, released in 2013, asserting, through this discussion, that it is not about applying psychoanalysis to art, but instead art to psychoanalysis, since the former permits the latter to advance. By demonstrating how the entire structure of the film is organized around emptiness, it permits us to move forward the debate on sublimation and its elucidation as a possible treatment of jouissance, in articulation with the act in its variables of acting out and passage to the act, just as presented by Lacan with Kleins quadrangles. Finally, we make some additional comments that are intended to identify paths along which we consider the discussion on the topic of sublimation could be continued. Here, we propose the articulation of sublimation with psychosis, with the sinthoma, just as Lacan discusses in seminar XXIII, and finally the relationship of sublimation with the end of analysis. On this point, the discussions of Lacan on Kleins quadrangles provide us with indications about the relationship of sublimation with the analytical act, which we aim to address

Fundamentos da prática lacaniana: risco e corpo / Fundamentals of practice Lacan: Body and risk

Angelina Harari 12 March 2008 (has links)
This paper is related to the Lacanian psychoanalytical practice and its theoretical fundaments based on civilization as support . Civilization impasses on risk and their incidences on the body are considered as they lead to a reflection about the practice of Lacanian psychoanalysis in our days, especially when new symptoms are concerned, since the beginning of the 21st century. The interest in sustaining, with our contemporary times, a dialogue aims to add fundaments to applied psychoanalysis, considering the relevant presence of psychoanalysts in the institutions. This paper is nor more limited to what is found in contemporary times to better situate, in the Lacanian practice, the concept of parlêtre (by letter made) from Lacans last teaching. We have also recovered the debate about universals, Pascals bet and the Hegelian myth about the master and the slave.

This research proposes to investigate the main theoretical references used by Jacques Lacan for the construction of the theory of the stage of the mirror and aims to specify the role played by each of them in this construction. The aim is to contextualize the main concepts relevant to the theme from their primary sources and to analyze the internal conceptual architecture of the chosen works - in view of the author's productions published in the late 1930s until the mid 1950s. To recapitulate this trajectory, this work aims to trace the theoretical genesis of some fundamental concepts that marked the Lacanian thought at the beginning of its work and to rescue the origins of the main foundations from which Lacan constructs the theory of the stage of the mirror. Within this framework, the main references of developmental child psychology are presented in the works of Charlotte Bühler, James Mark Baldwin and, above all, Henri Wallon. Then retrieves the experiments of comparative psychology in the studies of Louis Bolk and Wolfgang Köhler. Finally, from the evidence presented, it is a question of precisely situating the main perspectives that Lacan approaches and adheres to in his object of study, highlighting the differences of conceptions adopted, when these are relevant or important to the understanding of the theory.

La psychanalyse lacanienne et l'envers des normes : réponses à Michel Foucault / Lacanian psychoanalysis and the nether side of normalcy : responses to Michel Foucault

Pfauwadel, Aurélie 06 December 2016 (has links)
Diagnosing at a very early stage the decline in the traditional symbolic order, Lacan developed in the 1970s the conceptual tools that would be appropriate for grasping the modern deregulation of different forms of enjoyment and the new normative regimes that seek to keep them in check. Psychoanalysis’s contribution to the philosophical enquiry into norms hinges on how such experience lies radically beyond norms, allowing for a theorization not only of the processes of normalization by the Other, but also of subjective and subversive normalcy. This study demonstrates the specific irreducibility of psychoanalysis, where Foucauldian genealogies constantly downscale it to other discourses (medical, psychiatric, familial, legal, spiritual). We show: i. that Lacan’s structural theses of the 1950s promoting the Law of the Nameof-the-Father as a founding Norm, take aim at the normalizing drift of Ego Psychology; ii. that psychoanalysis targets, beyond the norms of life and society, a singular treatment of enjoyment through the letter; iii. that it is not, therefore, a technique that establishes categories, but rather ana-normative ethics; iv. that the Lacan of the 1970s, having offered an in-depth critique of his ownaxioms, proceeded to the nether side of his own teaching via a pluralisation of the Names-of-the-Father and a generalization of the symptom; v., that his thought culminated in a purely immanent conception of normative processes, while steering clear of historicism or Foucauldian relativism.Indeed, Lacan maintains the ex-sistence of an impossible and a real that puncture the plane of practice, whose economy alone is not sufficient for an intelligibility of norms.

Precarious subjectivity in the works of John Banville : a lacanian reading / La subjectivité précaire dans les oeuvres de John Banville : une lecture lacanienne

Ghassemi, Mehdi 07 December 2015 (has links)
The present project sets to complement the previous readings of the “self” in John Banville’s fiction by reproblematizing the precariousness of the author’s “subject of narration.” It examines the way in which the author constantly manipulates various narrative elements and consequently creates new experiences. Jacques Lacan’s understanding of the relation between the subject and the signifier, I argue, provides an excellent set of tools to address the way in which the notion of subjectivity is dissected, enhanced, and even extended, in Banville’s philosophically imbued fiction. The central thesis is that Banville creates a narrative universe in which his protagonists’ perception moves in interesting ways as the aspects of the Lacanian triad (the Symbolic, the Imaginary and the Real) are reshuffled, resulting in a precarious sense of self and reality. Although other thinkers (especially the ones hinted at in the narrative, most notably, de Man, Kleist, and Nietzsche) are drawn upon, the theoretical backbone relies on Lacan’s theory of subjectivity as well as recent Lacanian thinkers, most notably, Slavoj Žižek, Mladen Dollar, and Stijn Vanheule. Žižek’s reading of Lacan is of special interest to this study as he theorizes virtuality as a concept using Lacan’s triadic model. In addition, using Žižek’s definition of postmodernism as “symbolic inefficacy” allows us to shed new light on the long debate over Banville’s modernism versus his postmodernism. The dissertation consists of three parts. The first part focuses on Banville’s earlier work, namely, Birchwood, Mefisto, and The Book of Evidence. Here, I examine how the narrators’ preoccupation with finding certainty and truth results in a psychotic universe in Mefisto and a hysteric one in The Book of Evidence. Focusing on the latest trilogy, Eclipse, Shroud, and Ancient Ligh the second part examines the way in which Banville uses the category of the uncanny to create a Gothic narrative in Eclipse. Moreover, the concept of object a is used to demonstrate how the subject/object distinction collapses and gives rise to the Real dimension of the subject. The third and final part argues that the narrators seek to counter the undecidability generated in their uncanny narrations via the rehabilitation of the surface, one with which they hope to restore their precarious sense of self. Both chapters in this part address Banville’s engagement with Paul de Man’s deconstructive theory of language and representation and argue that Banville stages de Man’s ideas as well as his life-story in order to advance his own conception of representation and selfhood. Friedrich Nietzsche, I claim in both chapters, provides the narrators with a way out of the predicament posited by de Man. The underlying idea explored throughout the project is that Banville’s epistemological project can be summed up as an attempt to find a mode of articulation independent from the Symbolic order as most of his narrators, in one way or another, express a fundamental incredulity towards the Symbolic Other. By stripping reality of its Symbolic underpinnings, the Banvillian protagonist allows the Real to emerge and then domesticates it as magic. He does so using the surface of the written pages of his narrative, a surface onto which he can fuse word and image.

The enigma to the paradigm : psycholysis is not homofobic

Rodríguez Diéguez, María Paz 20 January 2015 (has links)
This investigation aims to respond to the critiques certain authors of queer theory have addressed to Lacanian theory, namely the accusation of homophobia. At the end of his teaching, Lacan recognized « There is no sexual relation »; and with this aphorism, he opened the door to a new paradigm oriented by the real: jouissance that aims at the impossible of the sexual relation. This substitutive jouissance, as Jacques-Alain Miller named it, doesn’t distinguish between neurosis and perversion. This new reading which goes beyond the structural clinic springs from the Borromean knot, in other words, that which holds the symbolic, real, and imaginary registers of desire and jouissance together. We purport to overcome the Oedipus complex by way of the very last Lacanian teaching. In order to do so, we revisited Freud’s extremely well-known case of the “young homosexual woman”, starting from new historical elements published in her biography entitled, Sidonie Csillag: Jeune Homosexuelle chez Freud, lesbienne dans le siècle. We will regard homosexuality from another angle thanks to the new Borromean conception. Our goal shall be to find the convergences between this new Borromean paradigm of psychoanalysis and Queer theory.

The era, the discourses, the love : structural and historical approach of indifeerence to things of love

Victoria, Bernard 11 July 2015 (has links)
Based on the works of Jacques Lacan and Cornelius Castoriadis, we propose an articulation of structure and history in order to build a psychoanalytic approach of the impacts of our era — in its dual determination by consumerist market logic, and the scientific discourse — on loving relationships. We have been able to propose a psychoanalytic, structural and historical approach of the causes, the conditions and consequences of indifference to things of love induced by capitalist discourse structure and the socio-historical purview witch is linked to it.

Perec/ Lacan - soletrações do enigma: uma tentativa de articulação entre literatura e psicanálise / PEREC / LACAN - puzzle´s spell: a try of articulation between literature and psychoanalysis

Rodrigo Ferraz de Camargo 12 March 2009 (has links)
This dissertation aims to establish a relation between literature and psychoanalysis. A lot has been said about the crossing between those distinct praxis. Nowadays, it seams inevitable to interconnect at least theorically. The idea of this project arises initially from the wish to approach the relationship not explored until now from those two French contemporaneous authors. Deceased on interval of six months in the end of 1981 and the beginning of 1982, Jacques Lacan and Georges Perec made history in the intellectual French scene in the end of 20th century. To bring along the wideness of those researches, each one in your own territory, it´s possible to say that both are primordially with deep concern toward the subject of the letter. Lacan in the psychoanalytical experience and Perec submerse in the literary field. Lacan and Perec, placed from French structuralism and pos-structuralism, haven´t crossed directly. It would like to comprehend the consequences of the new theory of the subject that started from the second part of 20th century especially your studies across by other authors. Lacan must being seeing as an psychoanalyst. Perec as a writer. However a research of that nature must be justified by two aspects: 1. they operate of unconscious. This is the enormous importance of the work and teachings of Jacques Lacan. 2. It´s about to diffuse and disseminate a great author not known in Brazil until now, which is literary virtuous that is Georges Perec.
