Estudo cristaloquímico de minerais do grupo do pirocloro no Brasil / Crystallochemistry study of pyrochlore group minerals from Brazil

Andrade, Marcelo Barbosa de 18 June 2007 (has links)
Pyrochlore group minerals are important sources of niobium and tantalum and these metals are used in important technological applications such as steel manufacturing and eletronic components development. However, the majority of Brazilian occurrences are only partially characterized or there is no mineralogic study available. In addition, the official pyrochlore-group minerals classification system does not follow the IMA mineralogical nomenclature rules although this system is approved by IMA. In the A site, it does not differentiate between occupation by Ca and Na, and if there is one or more cation other than Na or Ca composing more than 20% of total A-atoms, then the species must be named according to the most abundant A-atom, other than Na or Ca. In spite of this, the species fluornatromicrolite was approved based on the predominance of Na in the A-site. Regarding the B-site occupation, the division among the subgroups is not made with a tripartite symmetrical classification: the species with Nb + Ta >2Ti and Nb > Ta are considered as pyrochlore subgroup minerals; if Nb + Ta > 2Ti and Ta ≥ Nb, the mineral will belong to the microlite subgroup; and if 2Ti ≥ Nb + Ta, the mineral will belong to the betafite subgroup. Isostructural species with other predominant cations in the B-site are not included in the pyrochlore-group (for example, romeite, with dominant Sb). The anions are not taken into account in the classification but the predominance of fluorine was used for the approval of the species fluornatromicrolite. In this present work new nomenclature schemes, based on the ions in A, B and Y sites, are presented. Prefixes are, for example, \'hidroxi\', \'fluor\', \'calcio\', \'natro\' etc., while sufixes are represented by chemical symbols (Na, F, H2O etc) or [] (vacancies). The root names (pyrochlore, microlite, betafite, romeite) are related to the dominant-constituent cations in the B position. New chemical data by MEV-EDS and WDS (including Si analysis, hardly ever mentioned in litetarature) were obtained. Six occurrences from pegmatites and one from carbonatite were analysed. The results allow the species to be grouped in three \'families\'. The first could be named as \'microlite\', and includies fluornatromicrolite, fluorcalciomicrolite, oxinatromicrolite and oxicalciomicrolite. This family was identified in Morro Redondo quarry, Coronel Murta, MG; Jonas quarry, Conselheiro Pena, MG; Quixabá mine, Frei Martinho, PB; Volta Grande pegmatite, Nazareno, MG; Ipê quarry, Marilac, MG and Ponte da Raiz pegmatite, Santa Maria de Itabira, MG. Fluornatromicrolite seems to be more common than was previously thought. It was previously described only in Quixabá but now many other occurrences are known. Although \'natro\' and \'calcio\' prefixes were used, all the formulae seem to approach the term (NaCa)Ta2O6F. As Na approximately equals Ca (apfu) it could be used the name fluornatromicrolite-Na-Ca or CaNa could be used. The oxigen content is sometimes greater than F content in the Y position. This generates the oxi- species. The second family could be named \'hidromicrolite\', becoming [ [] (H2O)]Ta2O6(H2O). This formulae is not eletrically neutral so the H2O is replaced by cations (Ba, U etc) in the A cavity while the O is replaced by (OH) in the X position. Minerals from this family were identified in the Volta Grande pegmatite, Nazareno, MG. The third family, \'pyrochlore\', was only verified in the Jacupiranga mine, Cajati, SP, including fluorcalciopyrochlore and oxicalciopyrochlore species. The suggested new names, based on cations, vacancies or H2O dominant constituents of A, B and Y sites, seem to better describe the species, allowing their grouping in families. This new nomenclature has the advantage of not emphasize minor constituents in the A cavity, and verify the dominance of Ca or Na. Furthermore, Ta, Nb and Ti cations have the same balance in B cavity. On the other hand, exotic names were created such as hydrohydromicrolite or unpronounceable as hydro-[]-microlite.

Indexação da pesquisa científica: uma proposta para o uso adequado dos termos finalizadores dos resumos / Indexing of scientific research: a proposal for the proper use of finalizers from summaries

Rocha, Lidianne Mércia Barbosa Malta 09 February 2017 (has links)
This scholarly work of conclusion of course (TACC), consisting of a scientific paper and a product of speech, discusses words representing the content (keywords and descriptors) used in abstracts of academic papers defended in 2013 and 2014, the professional master's in Health Education (MEPS), identifying them as terms finalizers and indexers of research. The method adopted was of documentary nature, exploratory and descriptive, with quantitative perspective, investigating 37 research through semi-structured, electronic questionnaire containing a total of 17 questions, with the first five draw the General profile of all jobs and the following 12 identify each of the terms that are described in their respective summaries. The interrogative instrument was developed by the researcher in the own masters through the platform Google drive, to support the documentary analysis, being validated through an Electronic Validation Panel during the discipline technology applied in teaching and research in health (TAEPS), from the same institution. The variables analyzed were: (a) amount of keywords, (b) finalizer Nomenclature of summary: keywords or descriptors, (c) characterization of keywords: free and structured terms, (d) frequency of keywords, (and) Terminology of input keywords, (f) capture of key words in the titles and (g) score used between the keywords. The amount of keywords used pointed out that the summaries of the TACC did not follow an internal standardization of MEPS, but it was necessary to fit the journals chosen for submission, after the defence of academic papers, following the requirements presuppose the possibility of publication. Various terms used as keywords summaries were not found in the main terminology banks (MeSH, DeCS and Thesaurus), but had strength so the construction of the indexing representative academic work as the terms present in the bases of access, being possible to suggest new terms are included in the recovery of information portals. Finally, the authors of the TACC used encoded descriptors. However, do not have cited in their methodologies, registry numbers, or the portal in which they were obtained, leading to complete lack of practice when accessing the databases available, where the distinction between free or structured terms could contribute better with the correct choice of words post-production of their abstracts. Points out that various terminologies used by them, had great relevance in cohesion and coherence in summaries in which they found, showing strong potential for indexing the portal DeCS, which highlights the need for even more dynamic and constant supply of new terms, enabling more research grants, from the enrichment of databases available, and taking into account the existing records. In order to target students, teachers and researchers, more thorough management of the finalizer of nomenclature summaries, which will represent the content of scholarly works, from graduations and post-graduate degrees and academic professionals, was created, as a product of intervention, an educational blog titled ‘Key words in Scientific Production of MEPS’, which guides you through the proper use of the words representative of abstracts (keywords and descriptors).

Utváření oborové terminologie pro lidový oděv / Forming the Branch Nomenclature of Folf Costume

Dědovský, Daniel January 2015 (has links)
The folk costume, including its revitalized forms, is one of the most significant and simultaneously one of the most studied categories in the research of european folk culture. This research project is focused on reflections of the branch nomenclature of folk costume in the context of ethnological methodology with consideration of museological aspects and above all the history and development of the branch in its relevant european schools, streams and centers. The work is based on comparative communication of the author with less or more important characters in the branch (or closely connected) who were oriented on research of the folk costume cathegory or widely of the material culture, mostly through their professional texts. The contemporary researchers, whose work is not finished yet, are not evaluated in this work by intention, but their work and thoughts are reflected strongly as an important inspiration source of the presented dissertation. The primary goal of this project is not only observation and study the terminology and methodology for technical processing of the ethnological cathegory of folk costume, but also the research of the history of this branch underpinning its fundamental as well as less important aspects in the european international context.

Collaborative Virtual Environments : Identity Construction in Online Environments with a Focus on Facebook / Samarbete virtuella miljöer : Identitet Pågående Online miljöer med fokus på Facebook

Ogungbemi, Funke Jaiyeola nee January 2011 (has links)
Abstract My essay focuses on the construction of identity in virtual spaces but with an emphasis on Facebook. The purpose of my thesis is to analyze the construction of identities online and the characteristics attributable to online identities. Also, I attempt to draw a comparison between the modernist and postmodernist concept of self presentation and how they operate. With my essay, I demonstrate that the modernists view of self presentation online is arguably faulty by showing that contrary to their views identities are not stable nor fixed bur are fluid and constantly changing through the availability of technologically advanced computer languages and again by outlining the availability of tools that enable users create, and/or distort their identities Also, with my essay, I explain how these identities are maintained through a process called “impression management”. I analyze identity construction through the eyes of theorists like Erving Goffman, who proposes that we actors performing our identities, Sherry Turkle, who evaluates identity construction in the age of the internet and other theorists like Judith Butler, Joanne Finkelstein, Peggy A Thoits, Annette N Markham, Zizi Papacharissi among others. Digital Artifact: creation of a website that adopts a performative nature to depict the unstable locus of identity on Facebook. In order to achieve this, I would work on HTML, Flash, Photoshop to create a constantly changing array of texts and images using actual images from selected Facebook users’ accounts and actual status updates. Keyterms: Identity, Medium/Media, Nomenclature, Hyperreality, Representation, Culture and Performance. / 0704083287

Chatras, Clément 01 April 2016 (has links)
Nowadays, the automotive sector faces the mass customization paradox. The end-product diversity is constantly increasing as the customer can customize more and more product features. The component variety that Supply Chains must deal with, results from the end-product variety to make. Though variety cost is hard to measure, variety has a great impact on the economic performance of today's manufacturers. In the automotive sector, a large portion of these costs are due to the great amount of constraints between components. On an operational point of view, these constraints lead to difficulties in the establishment of Bills of Materials. In this thesis, we define a new approach that describes the variety within Bills of Materials. In addition, in order to limit the inflation of component variety to manage, companies should improve continuously their design and manufacturing processes. The use of a modular architecture should allow to reduce the number of constraints between components and as a consequence, to reduce the component variety. The success of the application of such architecture depends on some prerequisites that we also focus on in this thesis. Finally, as component variety might result also from local interests in design phases, this thesis proposes also a model that aims at standardizing both modules and their components that is based on a global economic perspective.

A novel nomenclature for the identification of ground truth in medical imaging data : Design, implementation and integration in a large knowledge database

Realini, Edoardo January 2023 (has links)
The annotation of medical images is a critical task for many downstream applications. However, the lack of a unified annotation nomenclature has resulted in inconsistency and ambiguity in the storage and use of such data. In this thesis, we propose and evaluate a novel annotation nomenclature for medical images. Our nomenclature is designed to be intuitive, easy to use and to expand. We also developed a knowledge database storing large medical image datasets that integrates the new nomenclature. The database is implemented as a server application exposing REST APIs. This allows users to upload/download datasets and query the data based on the annotations and to integrate the system in existing frameworks. We conducted a user study to assess the usability characteristics of the label nomenclature and its integration in the new system. The results collected from the user base are positive. The nomenclature is well perceived and the users had rated positively the usability of the whole system.

Application and Evaluation of Unified Medical Language System Resources to Facilitate Patient Information Acquisition through Enhanced Vocabulary Coverage

Mills, Eric M. III 26 April 1998 (has links)
Two broad themes of this research are, 1) to develop a generalized framework for studying the process of patient information acquisition and 2) to develop and evaluate automated techniques for identifying domain-specific vocabulary terms contained in, or missing from, a standardized controlled medical vocabulary with emphasis on those terms necessary for representing the canine physical examination. A generalized framework for studying the process of patient information acquisition is addressed by the Patient Information Acquisition Model (PIAM). PIAM illustrates the decision-to-perception chain which links a clinician's decision to collect information, either personally or through another, with the perception of the resulting information. PIAM serves as a framework for a systematic approach to identifying causes of missing or inaccurate information. The vocabulary studies in this research were conducted using free-text with two objectives in mind, 1) develop and evaluate automated techniques for identifying canine physical examination terms contained in the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (SNOMED), version 3.3 and 2) develop and evaluate automated techniques for identifying canine physical examination terms not documented in the 1997 release of the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS). Two lexical matching techniques for identifying SNOMED concepts contained in free-text were evaluated, 1) lexical matching using SNOMED version 3.3 terms alone and 2) Metathesaurus-enhanced lexical matching. Metathesaurus-enhanced lexical matching utilized non-SNOMED terms from the source vocabularies of the Metathesaurus of the Unified Medical Language System to identify SNOMED concepts in free-text using links among synonymous terms contained in the Metathesaurus. Explicit synonym disagreement between the Metathesaurus and its source vocabularies was identified during the Metathesaurus-enhanced lexical matching studies. Explicit synonym disagreement occurs, 1) when terms within a single concept group in a source vocabulary are mapped to multiple Metathesaurus concepts, and 2) when terms from multiple concept groups in a source vocabulary are mapped to a single Metathesaurus concept. Five causes of explicit synonym disagreement between a source vocabulary and the Metathesaurus were identified in this research, 1) errors within a source vocabulary, 2) errors within the Metathesaurus, 3) errors in mapping between the Metathesaurus and a source vocabulary, 4) systematic differences in vocabulary management between the Metathesaurus and a source vocabulary, and 5) differences regarding synonymy among domain experts, based on perspective or context. Three approaches to reconciling differences among domain experts are proposed. First, document which terms are involved. Second, provide a mechanism for selecting either vocabulary-based or Metathesaurus-based synonymy. Third, assign a "basis of synonymy" attribute to each set of synonymous terms in order to identify the perspective or context of synonymy explicitly. The second objective, identifying canine physical examination terms not documented in the 1997 release of the UMLS was accomplished using lexical matching, domain-specific free-text, the Metathesaurus and the SPECIALIST Lexicon. Terms contained in the Metathesaurus and SPECIALIST Lexicon were removed from free-text and the remaining character strings were presented to domain experts along with the original sections of text for manual review. / Ph. A Vegetative Key to the Conspicuous Flowering Herbs of Denton County, Texas

Fate, Dwight Wesley 01 1900 (has links)
"The area of study was restricted to those common flowering herbs of Denton County, Texas, which have conspicuous flowers or a conspicuous flower cluster. There were, however, many plants included in this flora which are common to several counties of north-central Texas. Since there has been no previous key devised for the herbs of Denton County, Texas, the purpose of this key was to provide a flora which could be used by elementary and high school instructors, as well as any other interested persons who lack an extensive knowledge of botanical nomenclature." -- leaf iv.
