The missiological dimensions of African ecclesiology

Andriatsimialomananarivo, Solomon 01 January 2002 (has links)
The growth of the Church in Africa, namely at numerical level 1 is tremendous. However, we notice that her impact on society and public life is not so visible as the growth is, since Christian values are embodied by Christians. Yet, the Church has huge human resources1 pastors, missionaries, lay leaders and theologians. The challenge for the Church in Africa is to incarnate and inculturate these values and the living message of the Gospel. In this thesis we question the co-operation between the Church and mission agencies, between native pastors and western missionaries. We notice that since 150 years, there has been a huge gap between these two entities. This is due to the fact that Theology and Missiology look like two lines that never meet. This situation leads us to revisit not only the current paradigm Church-Mission but also the current link between Theology and Missiology. We propose the following theses: 1. Theology is mission-centered. The goal of Theology is to extend the Kingdom of God by the prodamatlon of the Gospel so that every nation (ethne) may be represented in the Kingdom, and by the communication of Christian values so that a new society or a new civilisation may emerge and may take over the current and corrupted society. 2. To explore the Biblical data on Church and Mission, the only ontological approach appears to be limited, therefore the functional approach must be added. The right question is not only “What the Church Is" but also "For what the Church Is" 3. The local Church is the representation of the Universal Church in a given location. This local church is culturally rooted. Cultural plurality is a sine qua non condition for the Universal Church. 4. The local Church is the basis of mission. The basic reflections on mission must take place within the local Church, at the grass root level. All human resources, from mission agencies and para-church organisation are accountable to the local Church. 5. The major themes of healing, liberation and identity are at the core of the Gospel. Theologians must articulate these themes in their discourse. 6. Co-operation between local Churches, or within a duster of local Churches, gives opportunities to succeed in term of mission since no local Church can do mission alone.

Changing The Climate Narrative: How A Long-Term Climate Change Might Save Our Lives

Harreld, Natalie P 01 January 2014 (has links)
The goal of this paper is to offer new insights into the climate change debate by shifting away from the heated anthropologic arguments that dominate politics, media, and popular science. Instead, I choose to rely on the long-term impacts of a changing climate on our planet. The paper begins with a break down of key processes involved in short-term and long-term climate change, using the latest research. After a foundational understanding of climate sciences is established, we will discuss the failure of the climate change debate in educating the general public about the facts of a changing climate. Finally, the importance of long-term foresight in climate policy and education, and how this perspective could drastically progress the climate debate, will be discussed.

Mokinių pažangos ir pasiekimų vertinimas neformaliajame muzikiniame ugdyme: būsimųjų muzikos pedagogų požiūrio analizė / The assessment of students’ progress and achievement in non-formal musical education:the analysis of future music teachers' approach

Kriščiūnaitė, Asta 25 February 2014 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The Non-formal musical education organized in Lithuania is getting more and more attention not only from society, but as well from educational community too. In order to fulfill the needs and aims it is not sufficient to focus on the interests, which satisfy the educational institution or a training program. Such non-formal musical education factors as education of the art consumer, moral attitude formation, fostering critical approach, encouragement of emotional awareness, development of creative capacity, inducement of students’ joy using a chosen musical activity become significant. The factors mentioned above are linked by the contemporary educational paradigms. The latter criticize the classical model with its strongly expressed evaluative environment, obedience / usefulness and allowed / forbidden relations. In this context the importance of the assessment process of students’ progress and achievement becomes intense. It is necessary for art / music schools to manage the discipline problems, copying, intentional lateness to classes or being absent without a justifiable reason and so on. Recently an increasing interest of scientists in solving the students’ progress and achievement assessment system problems in the secondary schools can be noticed. However, the assessment area in non-formal musical education still has not been sufficiently investigated. This problem is especially relevant while preparing the future music pedagogues, who will work with students in art /... [to full text]

Polsk poesi under mellankrigstiden: ett paradigmskifte : Exempel marialyriken / Polish Interwar Poetry: A Paradigm Shift : The Case of Marian Lyrics

Korolczyk, Marousia Ludwika January 2011 (has links)
The dissertation examines how medieval poetic tradition was reactivated in the production of poetry from the period between the two world wars—the Polish interwar period, defined here as one of literary transition. The positioning in regard to certain literary conventions and the quest for a new normativity that is so prevalent in interwar poetry is also reflected in the era’s poetry on the theme of Mary. Marian lyrics, owing to their strong position in Polish literature (but also by dint of their role in Polish piety and national identity), serve as an indicator in identifying and defining certain poetic processes. Central to this are the respective relationships of Marian themes to tradition and to the poetic norms of the era: is a given poem located along the traditional axis (if so, which), does it run counter to it, or is it an innovation? The poems analysed—Julian Przyboś’ Heavenly Blue, Jerzy Liebert’s Litany to the Virgin Mary, Tytus Czyżewski’s De profundis, Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska’s The Black Portrait, Józef Czechowicz’ pious rhymes—represent disparate poetic models: the Krakow Avant-garde, Catholic literature, formism/futurism, the circle of Skamander, the Poetics of the Third Sphere in the Second Avant-garde. Reflected here is the broad spectrum of the period’s poetic trends, tendencies, and constellations—as are the historical and literary events of the era. Despite important differences in the poetic/aesthetic models, in these poems it is possible to identify shared characteristics relevant to this study, that is, elements of medieval poetry. The identifying criterion for these elements here is the concept of dogmatic formal language. In the poems medieval poetics are transformed into their own modern form and integrated into the respective poetic models. No other literary epoch offers what the poets are seeking better than poetic formal language modelled on medieval liturgical language. The five poets all participate in what has been called the interwar paradigm shift in Polish poetry—a parameter that only indirectly relates to modernism. The term high modernism (in the sense of the culmination of Polish poetic modernism) can serve to summarize the historical and literary delimitations and definitions in the study. As interwar poetry is indeed part of the definitive emergence and full expansion of modernism in Polish literature, serving as a link between tradition and innovation, such a study of the influence of high modernism and Marian lyrics on each other aspires to reflect general processes in the poetry of the time.

International Market Entry: Determinants of Australian Exports and Direct Investment to the United Kingdom.

Robson, Sally Jane January 2003 (has links)
Australia and the UK are both prominent economies in the international arena and share a strong trade and investment relationship. Interestingly, the UK while being a significant destination for Australian exports is an even more significant destination for Australian direct investment, a case anomalous to international trends. Analysis of this case elicits the question as to what factors differentiate between the firms that export and those that FDI. It is imperative to understand the differentiating factors between exports and direct investment as market entry decisions are decisive to the success of firms in international markets. A number of theories of international market entry have developed over the last quarter century, the ownership, location, and internationalisation model (OLI) is used in this study. The importance of the variables developed in this model are identified, and assessed as to their relevance to entry of Australian firms into the UK market through FDI or Exports. Qualitative information is used to support initial quantitative profiling. Results of the investigation indicate that while some variables were at times decisive, they were not predictive at all in other situations. The full interaction of the variables in the model was therefore concluded to be essential to fully differentiate between exports and FDI in all cases.

La dynamique du momentum psychologique en sport / The dynamics of psychological momentum in sport

Briki, Walid 11 October 2012 (has links)
The present thesis aimed to examine the characteristics of complexity and dynamics of psychological momentum (PM) in sport. A first series of studies attempted to explore qualitatively (Study 1) and quantitatively (Studies 2, 3, and 4) these characteristics in natural situations of sport competition. Study 1 evidenced the richness of PM contents, its mechanisms of emergence (dissonance, consonance, and thought flow disturbance), as well as its forms of development over time (amplification processes). These findings suggest that PM is rooted in a meaningful history of events. Studies 2, 3, and 4 showed that certain affective contents, such as competitive anxiety and self-confidence, can change abruptly during PM phases, which suggests the nonlinear character of PM. Consequently, a second series of studies (Studies 5, 6, 7, and 8) was then conducted in order to experimentally test the potential properties of non linearity and history-dependence of PM through the lens of the dynamical systems approach. These studies were based on ascending (positive momentum) versus descending (negative momentum) scenarios of performance that were virtually (Studies 5 and 6) or actually (Study 7) experienced by actors, or that were seen from the point of view of a spectator (Study 8). Variations of PM displayed patterns of negative hysteresis (Studies 5, 6, and 8) and critical boundary that was lagged so that negative PM was triggered faster than positive PM. The negative hysteresis that was found among spectators (Study 8) displayed an asymmetry that reflected a faster triggering for positive PM. These findings evidence the properties of non linearity and history-dependence of PM, show the influence of the degree of involvement in the situation on PM dynamics, and support the general hypothesis that PM is a complex and dynamical phenomenon.

Participação comunitária e processos de privatização : imunização, direito e vida

Lara, Lutiane de January 2015 (has links)
This thesis analyzes the historical emergence of community participation in the health field and contemporary resonances of that experience in the political practice of the Forum in Defense of SUS of Rio Grande do Sul, in its fight against health privatization. Community participation has emerged as a focus of experience in the context of the Sanitary Reform and defense of a public health system. The conditions of possibility for the emergence of such focus of experience are linked to the historical production of different places the subjects have occupied, as a focus of investment, in the construction of Brazilian public health policies since the nineteenth century. This focus of experience has produced the subjects as an active political force in both the formulation and implementation of the public health policy. As an integral part of its veridiction regime, it has the distinction between public and private delineating the private as something from which the public should be moved away, thus drawing dichotomized borders. The focus of experience of community participation, by approximating to law, as a political strategy of fight and institutionalization in the State meshes, follows the path of negative immunization of the right to health by the State. Community participation, by associating with law, enters this dual universe of the system of properties and starts generalizing what is common in its claim as being public property, i.e. State property. In this sense, we have proposed a kind of community participation that is not limited to the reproduction of models and is able to disrupt the public/private dichotomy in favor of both the notion of common and the affirmation of a life norm. This presupposes an inversion - instead of the reproduction of ways of life by law and its rules, the incessant production of life norms by life itself.

Silva, Magali Lippert da January 2008 (has links)
The rise of the informational paradigm is the result of the advent of information and communication technologies and its social impacts reflect in the work field and in professional identities. The identity of professional librarians is strongly influenced by this new paradigm, as shown in the present study by the social representations drawn by the leaders of institutions that represent the profession of librarian. The objective of this study was to understand how the professional identity of librarians is formed. Leaders of representative institutions were found optimistic the future of the profession, noticing a significant potential work market for librarians. A questionnaire was applied to a member of each Regional Councils, a member of the Federal Council, a representative from each of the five associations selected for the research and a representative of FEBAB. Eight of the twenty questionnaires sent were answered. According to them the Librarianship colleges are "upgrading their curricula" in view of this new reality. As for the change in professional designation, all are opposed to it due to its legal aspects that determine the work field for the profession. The librarian is seen as a "mediator" and the leaders perceive an incipient social recognition of librarian´s work. "Pro-activity" and "professional upgrade" are characteristics of the contemporary librarian perceived by the leaders. Although there are conflicts and tensions with other professional categories, the leaders believe the librarian is the most capable for providing good services in the information society.

Internacionalização da empresa Marcopolo S.A. : um estudo de caso

Rosa, Patrícia Rodrigues da January 2006 (has links)
The international experience of enterprises in developing countries is relatively new as well as the studies about the development of these activities by those countries and, particularly, by Brazil. This research aimed to contribute to the knowledge about how Brazilian enterprises internationalize themselves and, for this purpose, a case study has been developed with Marcopolo S.A., an organization in an advanced stage of international operations. Supported by behaviorist and economic lines of thinking about the topic, it sought to research how the internationalization process has occurred by this enterprise - their motives, how it expanded their business abroad and what were their main obstacles that have been faced and the facilitating factors of the process. Furthermore, it was studied the relationship among internationalization and the obtained financial results and the influence of public policies. Acting abroad was a way for widening markets and diversifying risks for the enterprise, and nowadays, it is the focus of its growing strategy. The process was developed in an incremental way, evolving from less compromised operations and in countries that were closer to Brazil, to the establishment of units in markets located farer away. Obstacles of economic and cultural nature influenced their activities and their technological domain of products and process, as well as their partnerships with vehicles manufactures were all facilitating elements for their international development. The research’s results confirmed the presuppositions from the behaviorist approach, putting forward the gradualist hypothesis stated by the Uppsala Theory. The Eclectic Paradigm also explained the direct investments made by the enterprise, which went on to corroborate that the two theoretical lines complement themselves for explaining the case. The operations of the company in foreign markets were historically more profitable than in domestic markets and those results turn themselves more expressive with the establishment of units abroad. Finally, it was proved that some adjustments from the governmental support generated positive effects on exports, however there wasn’t influence coming from public policy for the establishment of factories in foreign territories.
