Hejoppa hejopp!

Olander, Cheyenne January 2008 (has links)
<p>The aim of this essay is to study and show the contents of the music repertoire that is used in live action role plays in Sweden and study how this repertoire is spread between participants in the culture of live action role playing.</p><p>Four informants have been chosen and interviewed, three men and one woman of different ages from different places in Sweden. They have all been practicing live action role playing for some years.</p><p>Some of the conclusions that can be drawn from this study is that the participants of this hobby culture value music that feels old and contribute to the illusion of another world and time. The music repertoire of the live action role playing culture is filled with this music that gives the participants associations in line with the illusion. That is more important than the real age of the music. Another interesting conclusion is that the participants learn and spread the melodies verbally to each other and only the texts spread on the internet.</p>

Automated domain analysis and transfer learning in general game playing

Kuhlmann, Gregory John 13 December 2010 (has links)
Creating programs that can play games such as chess, checkers, and backgammon, at a high level has long been a challenge and benchmark for AI. Computer game playing is arguably one of AI's biggest success stories. Several game playing systems developed in the past, such as Deep Blue, Chinook and TD-Gammon have demonstrated competitive play against the top human players. However, such systems are limited in that they play only one particular game and they typically must be supplied with game-specific knowledge. While their performance is impressive, it is difficult to determine if their success is due to generally applicable techniques or due to the human game analysis. A general game player is an agent capable of taking as input a description of a game's rules and proceeding to play without any subsequent human input. In doing so, the agent, rather than the human designer, is responsible for the domain analysis. Developing such a system requires the integration of several AI components, including theorem proving, feature discovery, heuristic search, and machine learning. In the general game playing scenario, the player agent is supplied with a game's rules in a formal language, prior to match play. This thesis contributes a collection of general methods for analyzing these game descriptions to improve performance. Prior work on automated domain analysis has focused on generating heuristic evaluation functions for use in search. The thesis builds upon this work by introducing a novel feature generation method. Also, I introduce a method for generating and comparing simple evaluation functions based on these features. I describe how more sophisticated evaluation functions can be generated through learning. Finally, this thesis demonstrates the utility of domain analysis in facilitating knowledge transfer between games for improved learning speed. The contributions are fully implemented with empirical results in the general game playing system. / text

Mokinio asmenybės etniškumo ugdymas mokant skambinti kanklėmis muzikos mokykloje / The development of school-children personality ethnic through kanklės teaching at the music school

Radvilavičienė, Edita 24 August 2006 (has links)
Ethnic culture – an important part of common and musical culture. Ethnic, musical culture is a presumption of national individuality, not vanishing value, raising and maintaining humanity, transferring cumulative experience. Ethnics raising, in a process of playing with kanklės, should be effective, should be used practically and must close children to ethnic musical culture more and more. The theory and practice of pedagogy did not research the role of Lithuanian folksong much; there is not much common information about the importance of Lithuanian ethnic culture, which helps to develop children’s national identity, so we hope to forward a development of spiritual and educative personality in this work. The aim of this work is to examine the possibilities of pedagogic effect during the kanklės lesson by developing nationally conscious personality. The object of the work – the development of personality ethnic through kanklės. The hypothesis of the work – the development of personality ethnic becomes more effective when you put more Lithuanian folk plays into teaching repertoire and give lack of information on ethnic culture during the process of kanklės teaching. The nonfiction analysis and pedagogical research were carried out at three stages since 2003 till 2006. During the pedagogical experiment in Alytus music school were formed and examined experimental and auditorial children groups from kanklės class. The questionnaire method was also practiced in other Lithuanian... [to full text]

ŠIAULIŲ IR KAUNO SPORTININKŲ, ŽAIDŽIANČIŲ VEŽIMĖLIŲ KREPŠINĮ, TRENIRUOČIŲ EFEKTYVUMO LYGINAMOJI ANALIZĖ / TRAINING EFFICIENCY COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF KAUNAS AND ŠIAULIAI SPORTSMEN PLAYING WEELS BASKETBALL

Jackevičius, Mindaugas 29 September 2008 (has links)
2. Nustatyta, kad didžiausią poveikį vežimėlių krepšinio žaidėjų fizinėms ypatybėms ir žaidimo įgūdžiams turi žaidimo stažas. Palyginus abiejų komandų žaidimo stažą, matome, kad vidutiniškai Kauno komandos sportininkai vežimėlių krepšinį sportuoja 8.6... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / In this paper the analysis of training effectiveness of sportsmen playing wheelchair basketball was fulfilled in Kaunas and Šiauliai. The research was make with the help of testing to fix and evaluate the pecullarities of disabled sportsmen playing wheelchair-basketball ( endurance, speed, agility ) and the level of skills ( throwing the ball into the basket, going with the ball ) and the factors of the game. Sportsmen from Šiauliai and Kaunas from the wheelchair basketball teams took part in the research. In the empirical part of the research the peculiarities of physical features of disabled sportsmen, the level of skills, the age, the length of the play and the degree of being disabled were compared. The main conclusions of the empiric part are: 1. After having estimated the level of skills and physical peculiarities of disabled basketballers between Kaunas and Šiauliai, we can state that the results of Kaunas sportsmen are superior. The experience of the Kaunas players is of great significance (x=8,6). 2. It is determined that the experience of the game has a very great influence on the physical peculiarities of the sportsmen. Comparing the experience of both teams we can see that Kaunas sportsmen have been playing basketball for 8,6 years but the sportsmen of Šiauliai team only 3,3 years. So this decided better physical skills and rezults of the Kaunas team sportsmen. 3. Having evaluated the dependence of physical peculiarities and skills of disabled sportsmen upon... [to full text]

Rabie, Lindi January 2003 (has links)
The name Lemmens did not only have significance for his students, but also for several critics. Jaak Nikolaas Lemmens (1823-1881) had an enormous impact on the art of the organ music in France in the nineteenth century. The American public knew him as a result of his three Organ sonatas. The works of Bach and other composers like Mendelssohn mainly influenced his performance. Lemmens was seen as a French organist and in the nineteenth century it was not common for a French organist to include works of German composers in concerts due to the mainstream of playing, which was improvisation. He also taught his students on the model of Bach. Hesse introduced Lemmens to the German organ style. One of his students, Alexandre Guilmant (1837-1911), carried on with this tradition. He went on to become one of the great organ-composers of the nineteenth century and was also one of the first to compose a sonata. Guilmant often included the works of German composers in his recitals and had insight into the works of Mendelssohn on his many visits to England. Although both these composers were French, they came under the influence of the German organ tradition. The formal structures, counterpoint and fugues included in their sonatas, are a direct reference to the Trio sonatas of JS. Bach and the organ sonatas of Mendelssohn. In this study, a short introduction to the organ tradition in nineteenth-century France will be given as well as some information about Lemmens and Guilmant. The influence of the German organ tradition on the Three Sonatas of Lemmens and the Eight Sonatas of Guitmant will be shown and it will be proven that indeed the German masters had an influence on the French organ music of the nineteenth century. / Thesis (M.Mus.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2004.

Bergman, Mårten, Pettersson, Viktor January 2013 (has links)

He's Got Great Feel, But What Do You Mean?

Cook, Alexander 05 April 2013 (has links)
The field of popular music studies currently lacks effective and extensive discourse on drumming and rhythmic parameters in general. Some important preliminary work exists primarily due to significant contributions by relatively few authors. This thesis serves to expand this literature by providing a detailed explanation of many of the primary elements involved in the intricate practice of rock drumming. Additionally, it expands the literature on the music of Jimi Hendrix by thoroughly exploring the musical contributions Mitch Mitchell made as the drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Mitchell's stylistic approach to rock drumming is illuminated through analysis of the drum parts in four of the group's songs. An explanation of rock drumming in general and one effective individual approach are present within the work.

Muzikavimo saksofonu ypatumai interpretacinės raiškos galimybių kontekste / Peculiarities of playing the saxophone in the context of possibilities of interpretational expression: in music education

Baltutis, Donatas 04 August 2011 (has links)
Bakalauro darbas „Muzikavimo saksofonu ypatumai interpretacinės raiškos galimybių kontekste“ parengtas 2011 metais. Tyrimo objektas – muzikavimo saksofonu ypatumai. Tyrimo tikslas – išanalizuoti muzikavimo saksofonu ypatumus muzikos mokyklose. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The Bachelor’s Thesis „Peculiarities of playing the saxophone in the context of possibilities of interpretational expression” was prepared in 2011. Research object: peculiarities of playing the saxophone. The aim of the research: to analyze the peculiarities of playing the saxophone in music schools. Research objectives: to reveal the peculiarities of the saxophone, describe the most famous performers of the saxophone music, determine the types of music performed by the saxophone, analyze methodological recommendations and interpretational peculiarities and describe the art project. In the process of teaching students to play the saxophone teachers mostly follow their own developed methodology and methodological recommendations designed for the wind instrumentalists, because Lithuanian wind instrument education suffers from various issues that are mainly named as the lack of literature (notes), insufficient technical facilities (lack of qualitative instruments), unprepared explicit saxophone methodology and programs. Analysis of theoretical sources and implementation of the art project enables to distinguish the main aspects of playing the saxophone: right breathing, posture, correct hand position. Music teachers should pay attention to these aspects in their professional activities and aim at qualitative performance of music by adding specific didactic recommendations to the teaching process. Saxophone is a musical instrument that allows free interpretations of music as it... [to full text]
