Mit dem Hörer ins Gespräch kommen : Situationsbezug der Predigt in der Epoche Johann Michael Sailers im Vergleich zur Gegenwart / Establishing a dialogue with the audience : the situational reference of the sermon in the epoch of Johann Michael Sailer in comparison to the present

Richter, Klaus Max Erich 01 1900 (has links)
Preaching in the church today faces manifold challenges. The dynamic web of relationships between preacher and audience, text and situation is difficult to keep in balance. When analysing the homiletic publications of the present and recent past, it becomes apparent that the sermon is very thoroughly reflected with the context of the situation of the audience. In this connection, one has to draw attention to a possible conflict: a sermon designed with regard to the situation of the audience may be tempted to neglect the biblical text and its demands. Therefore, this thesis aims to make a clarifying contribution to the question of the audience orientation of sermons, namely by means of a homiletic comparison of the epoch of Johann Michael Sailer with the present and recent past. In spite of all critical distance to the history of thought of the Enlightenment Movement, we should not overlook the fact that fruitful impulses emanated from this time, and that, for example, many concerns of the “Catholic Enlightenment” were addressed again at the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). The homiletic efforts of the Enlightenment period in the 18th century, which were widely led by anthropological interests, can be recognized as analogous to the current situation. The homiletic conception of the pastoral theologian and later Bishop of Regensburg, Johann Michael Sailer (1751-1832), will be described in particular. His conception of Christian ethical teaching on a biblical foundation is of timeless relevance. As comparison, the homiletic drafts of Ernst Lange, Rudolf Bohren, Wilfried Engemann and Rolf Zerfaß will be exemplarily analysed, particularly with regard to the expectation of the audience. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D. Der pastorale Leiter als Prophet : Der Baptistenpastor Arnold Köster (1896–1960) im Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus / The pastoral leader as a prophet : the Baptist pastor Arnold Köster (1896-1960) in opposition to the Nazis

Claesberg, Veit 07 1900 (has links)
Schließlich wird herausgearbeitet, was heutige Leiter von Köster lernen können / This thesis is about the life and leadership of the Baptist preacher Arnold Köster (1896–1960). He is considered one of the sharpest and steadiest NS critics in the Third Reich. During the Third Reich he prophetically proclaimed the word of God while leading his church in Vienna and, at the same time, questioning the Nazi regime. The work contains a complete account of Köster’s leadership. It presents, for the first time ever, an overall picture of Köster’s understanding of prophecy and discusses more recent models of prophetic-pastoral leadership. Based on quotations from his sermons, it becomes clear that Köster assigned the prophetic office to the entire congregation, but rejected the term “prophet” for himself (Köster’s paradox). The emphasis here is on Köster in the context of the German Baptist Union and its conduct during the Nazi era. By way of contrast, it is clear that Köster, along with his local fellowship, put up resistance on the subject of church-prophecy. Finally, with the matter of what today’s leaders can learn from Köster is addressed / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. Th. (Christian Leadership)

Examining the feedback environment and accountability in informal performance management systems

Coulter-Kern, Paige E. 06 March 2013 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Improving performance management is a high priority for many organizations that want to improve the performance of their employees. Recently, researchers have focused on the social context to promote behavioral change, and have created new scales to examine context, such as the feedback environment. The current study examined internal and external accountability as mediators of the relationship between the feedback environment and developmental behaviors. Participants each completed three scales measuring the feedback environment, internal and external accountability, and developmental behaviors. Results suggested that internal and external accountability both mediate the relationship between the feedback environment and developmental behaviors, but neither is a stronger mediator than the other. In addition, internal and external accountability both mediate the relationship between each component of the feedback environment and developmental behaviors, but again neither is a stronger mediator than the other. This study contributed to the literature on performance management, and emphasized the importance of training supervisors to use the feedback environment to increase perceptions of accountability for employees.

Jonathan Edwards: sein Verständnis von Sündenerkenntnis, eine theologiegeschichtliche Einordnung / Jonathan Edwards: his understanding of conviction of sin, a historical theological classification

Schmidtke, Karsten 01 1900 (has links)
The thesis tries to answer the question, how Jonathan Edwards understood the term “conviction of sin”. The intention is to find out the significance of his understanding of this term for the revivalmovement of his time. While numerous studies have been done on his theology and philosophy, this aspect has not been thoroughly examined yet. Based on a chronological assessment of his works Jonathan Edwardsʼ understanding of conviction of sin is established from his major works (qualitative content analysis). This reveals a development in his thought-system. In a second part Jonathan Edwardsʼ understanding of conviction of sin is compared with the theology of his predecessors, contemporaries and opponents. This examination is limited to the time of the Puritans, the “Great Awakening” and the “Second Great Awakening” (diachronic comparative analysis). In a third part Jonathan Edwardsʼ understanding of conviction of sin is assessed in a systematictheological way and classified historically. The author intends to make another German contribution to international Jonathan Edwards Studies. This research is historically focused, because of the fact, that the term “conviction of sin” is analysed by means of the biography of Edwards and a chronological classification of his works to compare it with meanings of different historical epoches and classify it in its theological historical context by that approach. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D. THE BRONX COCKED BACK AND SMOKING MULTIFARIOUS PROSE PERFORMANCE

Avila, Alex 01 June 2016 (has links)
The Bronx Cocked Back And Smoking is a collection of multifarious prose performances recounting the historical, personal, social, political and cultural constructs of a city birthed by violence. This body of work is accompanied by video, audio, photography, and theatre performance texts. St. Mary’s Housing project, in the Bronx, is the foundation where most of this literary work takes place. The modern day Griot (storyteller) is a Poet, guiding his audience through the social inequalities and disparities that plague St. Mary’s community. The Poet shares personal traumatic insights while simultaneously utilizing writing as a form of survival to the conditions of the Bronx. This multi-platform performance highlights the metaphorical and physical concerns with the cycle of violence. This question is answered through the Poet’s choice by selecting the pen over the gun.
