Adicción a redes sociales y bienestar psicológico en estudiantes de Ciencias de la Salud / Social network addiction and Psychological well-being in health sciences students

El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre la adicción a las redes sociales y el bienestar psicológico en estudiantes de ciencias de la salud en Lima Metropolitana. La muestra estuvo conformada por 281 jóvenes (23.5% hombres y 76.5% mujeres), con edades entre 18 y 25 años (M= 21.4, DE= 2.374). Se aplicó el Cuestionario de Adicción a Redes Sociales (ARS) (Escurra & Salas, 2014) y la Escala de Bienestar Psicológico (BIEPS-A) de Domínguez-Lara (2014) ambos instrumentos presentaron adecuada consistencia interna. Se encontró una correlación inversa entre el uso excesivo de las redes sociales y el bienestar psicológico, al igual que se observaron diferencias en adicción a redes sociales y bienestar psicológico según sexo y cantidad de horas de conexión. / The present work aimed to determine the relationship between addiction to social networks and psychological well-being in health sciences students in Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted of 281 young people (23.5% men and 76.5% women), aged between 18 and 25 years (M = 21.4, SD = 2,374). Une étude des relations entre l'articulation travail-famille et le bien-être des travailleurs en mobilité à l'international / A study of the relationship between work-family articulation and well-being of workers in international mobility

Suite à la globalisation des affaires et aux multiples changements démographiques, de plus en plus de professionnels vont travailler à l’étranger de leur propre initiative ou encore, pour réaliser un mandat au sein d’une filiale de leur entreprise localisée à l’étranger. L’objectif de cette recherche consiste à étudier le bien-être des travailleurs à l’international en s’appuyant sur deux courants théoriques, celui du bien-être psychologique et du bien-être subjectif. Le bien-être subjectif se réfère à l’évaluation que font les personnes des conditions et des caractéristiques de l’environnement. Le bien-être psychologique fait référence à l’ampleur avec laquelle la personne se sent bien avec elle-même et à la cohérence de son projet de vie avec ses valeurs et ses objectifs de vie. Tenant compte du fait qu’un travail à l’étranger affecte tout autant les vies professionnelle, personnelle et souvent de couple et familiale, cette étude analyse les incidences du conflit et de l’enrichissement travail-famille sur le bien-être des travailleurs en mobilité à l’international. Notre recherche permet aussi d’explorer comment l’articulation travail-famille (tant par les perceptions de conflit que d’enrichissement) des TMI peut être expliquée par trois grands déterminants: le soutien social, l’autoévaluation de soi et l’intelligence culturelle des TMI. L’étude a été menée auprès de 284 travailleurs en mobilité à l’international vivant et travaillant dans différents pays. Au terme de multiples analyses, nos résultats confirment l’importance pour les TMI de ne pas ressentir de conflit travail-famille, mais de percevoir de l’enrichissement travail-famille pour ressentir plus de bien-être. Nos résultats démontrent que le conflit travail-famille est lié négativement aux deux types de bien-être évalués, alors que l’enrichissement travail-famille est seulement lié au bien-être subjectif. Nos résultats confirment aussi les liens négatifs entre d’une part, le soutien offert par l’organisation et la famille et le sentiment d’autoévaluation de soi et d’autre part, sur le conflit travail-famille que ressentent les TMI. Il apparaît aussi que le soutien offert par les collègues a un effet positif sur le sentiment d’enrichissement travail-famille exprimé par les TMI. Cette thèse conclue sur les implications de ses résultats pour la recherche et la pratique. Pour finir, les limites et les perspectives de la recherche future sont exposées / As a result of the globalization of business and the many demographic changes, more and more professionals are working abroad on their own initiative or, to achieve a mandate within a branch of their company located abroad. The objective of this research is to study the concept of the foreign workers well-being. We associated this concept with two theoretical currents refereeing to the subjective well-being and the psychological well-being. The subjective well-being refers to the assessment made by the workers about the conditions and characteristics of the environment. The psychological well-being refers to the extent to which the individual feels good with himself and the consistency of his life project with its values and life goals. Taking into account that working in a foreign context can affect both the professional and personal lives of the individual, often affecting the couple and family, in this study we aim to examine the impacts of work-family conflict and enrichment experienced by workers (that are) in international mobility. Our research also allows us to explore how the work-family articulation (both by perceptions of conflict and enrichment) of workers in international mobility can be explained by three major determinants: social support, self-esteem and cultural intelligence. The study was conducted among 284 workers in international mobility that was living and working in different countries. After multiple analyzes, our results confirm the importance for these workers in international mobility to feel no work-family conflict, but to perceive work-family enrichment in order to experience more well-being. Moreover, our results show that work-family conflict is negatively related to both types of well-being assessed, while the work-family enrichment is only related to subjective well-being. Our results also highlight the negative links between on the one hand, the support offered by the organization and the family with the feeling of self-esteem and on the other, with work-family conflict experienced by workers in international mobility. It also appears that support from co-workers has a positive effect on work-family enrichment experienced and expressed by workers in international mobility. This thesis concludes on the implications of its results for research and practice. Finally, limitations and vision statement for the future research are explained

Développement d'un outil quantitatif mesurant la contagion émotionnelle chez des étudiants universitaires en psychoéducation

La contagion émotionnelle se définit comme la tendance à imiter automatiquement les expressions non verbales avec celles des autres pour ainsi converger émotionnellement. Cette convergence peut être bénéfique si celui qui la reçoit sait comment la gérer en réalisant qu’il s’agit de l’émotion de l’autre, et non de la sienne. Toutefois, lorsqu’un intervenant perd le contrôle des effets de la contagion émotionnelle, il peut en résulter une détresse empathique. En travaillant auprès d’une clientèle en détresse, les intervenants représentent alors, eux aussi, un groupe à risque de vivre ces états émotionnels. Ainsi, connaitre sa vulnérabilité à la contagion émotionnelle serait un atout essentiel pour le travail et la santé psychologique des intervenants. La contagion émotionnelle se mesure à partir d’un questionnaire autorapporté : le Emotional Contagion Scale (ECS). Cet outil présuppose que les personnes qui le remplissent connaissent bien leur réactivité émotionnelle aux émotions des autres. Cependant, ce n’est pas toujours le cas, puisque des travaux ont montré que les personnes peu conscientes de leurs émotions étaient plus à risque de difficultés à réguler leurs émotions. Ainsi, il nous apparait essentiel de développer un outil complémentaire et quantitatif afin de contourner les biais liés aux questionnaires autorapportés. Le but de ce projet est de créer et d’évaluer un outil permettant une mesure comportementale de la contagion émotionnelle chez des étudiants universitaires en psychoéducation. Pour ce faire, nous avons mesuré automatiquement les réactions faciales des participants pendant qu’ils visionnaient un ensemble de stimuli vidéo suscitant diverses réactions émotionnelles. Les résultats indiquent que les deux instruments de contagion émotionnelle (quantitatif et autorapporté), ne semblent pas mesurer les mêmes construits psychosociaux, mais demeurent complémentaires. Aussi, le nouvel outil quantitatif de contagion émotionnelle permet de prédire le risque de présenter des symptômes dépressifs ainsi que de vivre certaines formes de stress chronique et d’épuisement professionnel chez les participants de l’étude. Les implications pour la recherche et la pratique sont discutées. / Emotional contagion is defined as the tendency to automatically mimic and synchronize facial expressions, vocalizations, postures and movements with those of another person’s and, consequently, to converge emotionally. This emotional convergence can be beneficial if one knows how to deal with it and realizes that it’s another person’s emotion, instead of his/her own. However, when one loses control over the effects of emotional contagion, it can cause empathic distress. By working with a clientele in distress, social workers are among the professionals who are the most at risk of experiencing emotional contagion. Thus, being aware of their own susceptibility to emotional contagion would be a way to prevent empathic distress, and to improve their professional work and personal well-being. Emotional contagion is usually measured by a self-report questionnaire: The Emotional Contagion Scale (ECS). The ECS relies on the fact that people who use it are conscious of their emotional reactivity. However, it is not always the case. Previous research has shown that people who are unaware of their emotions are at risk of having problems with regulating their emotions. Therefore, it seems important to develop a complementary and quantitative measure of emotional contagion to counterbalance bias related to subjective measures. The goal of this study is to develop and validate a behavioral measure of emotional contagion in a sample of psychoeducation students from the University of Montreal. To do so, we used a facial coding tool to automatically measure participants’ facial expressions as they watched emotion-eliciting film excerpts. Results indicate that both instruments of emotional contagion (quantitative and self-report) do not measure the same psychosocial constructs but remain complementary. Also, the new quantitative measure of emotional contagion seems to predict the risk of developing depressive symptoms and different forms of chronic stress and burnout among participants of this study. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

Estilos de afrontamiento al estrés y bienestar psicológico en adolescentes de un colegio público de Lima Metropolitana / Coping styles and psychological well-being in adolescents from a public school in Metropolitan Lima

Objetivo general: determinar la relación entre los estilos de afrontamiento y el bienestar psicológico en adolescentes de un colegio estatal de Lima Metropolitana. Objetivo específico: comparar ambas variables según sexo. Método: la muestra estuvo conformada por 286 adolescentes entre 14 y 17 años de edad (M=15.50; DE = 0. 987), de los cuales el 48.3% son mujeres y el 51.7% son varones. Se aplicó el inventario Escalas de Afrontamiento para Adolescentes (ACS Lima; Canessa, 2002), original de Frydenberg y Lewis, y el Cuestionario de Bienestar Psicológico para jóvenes BIEPS-J (Cortez, 2016), original de Casullo y Castro-Solano. Se observó adecuada validez y confiabilidad para los puntajes de ambos instrumentos. Resultados: se estableció relación directa, moderada, con tamaño del efecto moderado entre el afrontamiento centrado a la emoción y a los otros y el bienestar psicológico. También se encontró una relación directa, débil y con tamaño del efecto mínimo entre el Afrontamiento centrado en el problema y el bienestar psicológico. Finalmente, se encontró una relación inversa, débil y con tamaño del efecto mínimo entre el afrontamiento poco funcional y el bienestar psicológico. Además, existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas en afrontamiento y bienestar psicológico según sexo, siendo los hombres quienes puntúan más alto en afrontamiento centrado a la emoción y a los otros, y bienestar psicológico, mientras que las mujeres puntúan más alto en afrontamiento poco funcional. / Main objective: to determine the relationship between coping styles and psychological well-being in adolescents from a public school in Metropolitan Lima. Specific objective: to compare both variables according to sex. Method: the sample consisted of 286 adolescents between 14 and 17 years of age (M = 15.50; SD = 0. 987), of which 48.3% are women and 51.7% are men. The relationship between psychological well-being in the Covid-19 pandemic and organizational processes for sustainable development

Psychological employee well-being is a severe challenge for companies around the world. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated the problem and forced companies to act to ensure a healthy and productive workforce. Based on the Job Demands-Resources Model (JD-R), this study examines the leader's perspective on how decision making, and communication processes have been altered in the face of the pandemic and how these alterations can promote the advancement of psychological well-being. Another central research focus is the impact of the changes in decision making and communication processes on the sustainable development of the organization. The relatively new perspective of the Psychology of Sustainability and Sustainable Development (PoS&SD) is applied to investigate these questions. A qualitative approach was chosen and a total of ten organizations were studied, half in Sweden and half in Germany. With the support of semi-structured interviews, leaders of small and medium-sized organizations in both countries were interviewed, and their perceptions were explored. The results showed that almost all companies in the study implemented changes to the two processes because they perceived deterioration in employee psychological well-being. While most leaders in Sweden indicated that they had given employees more autonomy throughout the pandemic, leaders in Germany reported a greater desire for direction and structure. The communication style likewise required adjustment to meet the new way of working and employees’ needs. Finally, it could be shown that the topic of employees’ psychological well-being will take on a higher priority in many companies in the wake of the pandemic. This is partially since companies have recognized that the fostering of psychological well-being is closely linked to sustainable development.

Justicia organizacional y Bienestar psicológico en trabajadoras de una empresa de banca de Lima Metropolitana / Organizational justice and psychological well-being in female workers of a banking company in Metropolitan Lima

El objetivo del estudio es determinar la relación entre la justicia organizacional y el bienestar psicológico, así como establecer diferencias en ambas variables en función al puesto y grado de instrucción. Participaron 164 trabajadoras entre 21 a 63 años (M=37.68; DE=8.40) de una empresa de banca de Lima Metropolitana, seleccionadas mediante un muestreo no probabilístico. Se utilizaron la Escala de Justicia Organizacional de Colquitt y la Escala de Bienestar Psicológico de Ryff. Los resultados indicaron una correlación directa y significativa entre las dimensiones de justicia organizacional y el bienestar psicológico (rs entre .187 a .283). En cuanto al puesto y cargo, se obtuvo diferencias estadísticamente significativas con la dimensión de Justicia Informacional y Bienestar Psicológico. Finalmente, se evidenció que las diferencias respecto al grado de instrucción y las dimensiones que conforman ambas variables de estudios no tienen significancia práctica. / The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between organizational justice and psychological well-being, as well as establishing significance based on the position and level of education. 164 workers from a banking company in Metropolitan Lima participated, selected through a non-probability sample. The Colquitt Organizational Justice Scale (2001) and the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale (1989) were used. The results indicated a direct and significant correlation between organizational justice and psychological well-being in general and moderate correlations between dimensions. Regarding the role and position, statistically significant scores were obtained with the dimensions of Organizational Justice. Finally, it was evident that the differences regarding the degree of education and the dimensions that make up both study variables have no practical significance. / Tesis

Hoy en día la salud mental se ha convertido en un problema muy relevante y preocupante, es algo que está totalmente olvidado por nosotros mismos, por el ministerio de salud y el gobierno en sí. Desde antes y mucho más hoy con la pandemia que estamos aún viviendo en el país y en el mundo venimos realizando y experimentando en nuestro día a día cambios rutinarios y cambios de estilos de vida, a eso podemos sumarle toda la incertidumbre que las personas padecen emocionalmente. Por esa razón nos genera una gran preocupación y nos lleva a plantearnos el objetivo de desarrollar un proyecto sostenible de salud y bienestar con la finalidad de contrarrestar y solucionar estos preocupantes problemas que atraviesa una gran parte de la población en cuanto a salud mental. En la investigación realizada del impacto de la COVID-19, la vida rutinaria y los cambiantes estilos de vida que influyen en la salud mental de las personas, hemos obtenido como resultado el aumento de casos de estrés, ansiedad y depresión en las personas. Since before and much more today with the pandemic that we are still living in the country and in the world, we have been making and experiencing in our day to day routine changes and lifestyle changes, to that we can add all the uncertainty that people suffer emotionally. Bakgrund: Postpartum är en utmanande tidsperiod med ökad risk för psykisk ohälsa hos föräldrar. De flesta studier som har genomförts har undersökt inrikesfödda mödrar. Det saknas studier som undersöker postpartum-relaterad psykisk ohälsa hos utrikesfödda föräldrar i Sverige. Syftet med den aktuella studien var därför att undersöka välmående hos utrikes-och inrikesfödda mödrar och fäder i Sverige. Studien syftade också till att undersöka potentiella riskfaktorer för utveckling av psykisk ohälsa och om riskfaktorerna skiljde sig mellan utrikes och inrikesfödda föräldrar. Metod: 1847 mödrar och fäder inklusive 483 (26.2%) utrikesfödda och 1364 (73.8 %) inrikesfödda föräldrar besvarade skattningsskalorna the Swedish Parenthood Stress Questionnaire och Välmåendeskalan. Data analyserades med Student’s t-test, envägs-ANOVA, Pearson’s korrelationsanalys och Multipel regressionsanalys. Resultat: Utrikesfödda föräldrar rapporterade statistiskt signifikant lägre välmående jämfört med inrikesfödda föräldrar. Bland utrikesfödda föräldrar var social isolering, hälsoproblem, känsla av inkompetens och låg utbildningsnivå riskfaktorer för psykisk ohälsa. Bland inrikesfödda föräldrar var känsla av inkompetens, hälsoproblem, social isolering, relationsproblem och rollrestriktion samt låg utbildningsnivå, riskfaktorer för psykisk ohälsa. Slutsats: Resultatet i denna deskriptiva och explorativa studie indikerar att utrikesfödda föräldrar upplever sämre välmående och löper större risk för utveckling av psykisk ohälsa under postpartum-perioden. Studien visar också att riskfaktorerna skiljer sig åt beroende på födelse inom eller utanför riket. / Background: The postpartum is a challenging period with an increased risk for parental mental illness. Most studies conducted have been performed on Swedish-born mothers. At present, there are no studies examining postpartum related mental illness in foreign-born parents in Sweden. The purpose of this study was therefore to examine the mental wellbeing of foreign-born mothers and fathers in Sweden and whether it differs from Swedish-born parents. The aim of the study was also to investigate potential risk factors for the development of mental illness, and whether the risk factors differ between foreign- and Swedish-born parents. Method: 1847 mothers and fathers, including 483 (26.2%) foreign-born and 1364 (73.8%) Swedish-born parents, answered the Swedish Parenthood Stress Questionnaire and the Well–being scale. Data was analyzed using the Pearson’s correlation analysis, One-way-ANOVA and Standard Multiple Regression analysis. Results: Foreign-born parents reported statistically significant lower mental well-being compared to Swedish-born parents. The study shows that among foreign-born parents, social isolation was a significant risk factor for mental illness during the postpartum period followed by health problems, feeling incompetent as a parent, and a low level of education. Among Swedish-born parents, health problems, social isolation, low levels of education, feeling incompetent as a parent, role restriction and relationship problems were risk factors for mental illness. Conclusion: The results of this descriptive and exploratory study indicates that foreign-born parents experience poorer mental well-being and are at greater risk of developing mental illness during the postpartum period. The study also shows that the risk factors differ depending on birth within or outside the country.

The Integrative Conceptual Model: Ecological Risk and Protective Factors for East Asian Immigrant Fathers’ Psychological Well-Being in the United States

In response to the dearth of research focusing solely on immigrant fathers, we propose the Integrative Conceptual Model to investigate the psychological well-being of recent immigrant fathers from East Asia to the United States. This model addresses how multiple factors in the society (e.g., policy), work and community (e.g., employment), family (e.g., father-child and couple relationships), and individual (e.g., education) levels in the host and home countries are linked to East Asian immigrant fathers’ adaptation to their new environment. More specifically, we focus on the unique risk factors and protective factors to their adjustment, which are vital to the psychological well-being of recent immigrant fathers from East Asia. The Integrative Conceptual Model contributes to the limited fatherhood literature to help understand the multifaceted nature of immigrant fatherhood. Implications include creating culturally sensitive education and intervention programs for East Asian immigrant fathers.

The object of the study was the professional identity of students in the psychological areas of the university. The subject of the study was the relationship between professional identity and personal qualities of students. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a list of references (110 sources) and an appendix, which includes forms of the methods used. The volume of the master's thesis is 88 pages, which contain 11 figures and 11 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the development of the problem, sets the goal and objectives of the study, defines the object and subject of the study, formulates the main and additional hypotheses, indicates the methods and empirical base, as well as the stages of the study, scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of theoretical foundations for the study of student professional identity. Sections devoted to the study of the concepts of identity, psychological well-being, reflexivity, self-organization, resilience are presented. The conclusions on the first chapter are the results of the study of theoretical material. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study. It presents a description of the organization and methods of the study and the results obtained by all the methods used: the Questionnaire of the professional identity of psychology students by U. S. Rodygina, the scale of psychological well-being by K. Riff, the questionnaire of reflexivity by A. V. Karpov, the questionnaire of self-organization of activity by N. Feather and M. Bond, methodology for studying the motivation of a professional career E. Shane, S. Muddy's hardiness test. The chapter also presents a correlation analysis of the results of the study. Chapter 2's conclusions include the main findings of the empirical study. In conclusion, the results of the theoretical and empirical parts of the work, as well as conclusions on them, are summarized, the practical significance of the study is substantiated, and possible prospects for further development of this issue are described. / Объектом исследования явилась профессиональная идентичность студентов психологических направлений университета. Предметом исследования стала взаимосвязь профессиональной идентичности и личностных качеств студентов. Магистерская диссертация состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения, списка литературы (110 источников) и приложения, включающего в себя бланки применявшихся методик. Объем магистерской диссертации 88 страниц, на которых размещены 11 рисунков и 11 таблиц. Во введении раскрывается актуальность проблемы исследования, разработанность проблематики, ставятся цель и задачи исследования, определяются объект и предмет исследования, формулируются основная и дополнительные гипотезы, указываются методы и эмпирическая база, а также этапы проведения исследования, научная новизна, теоретическая и практическая значимость работы. Первая глава включает в себя обзор иностранной и отечественной литературы по теме теоретических оснований исследования профессиональной идентичности студент. Представлены разделы, посвященные исследованию понятий идентичность, психологическое благополучие, рефлексивность, самоорганизация, жизнестойкость. Выводы по первой главе представляют собой итоги по изучению теоретического материала. Вторая глава посвящена эмпирической части исследования. В ней представлено описание организации и методов проведенного исследования и результатов, полученных по всем использованным методикам: Опроснику профессиональной идентичности студентов-психологов У. С. Родыгиной, шкале психологического благополучия К. Рифф, опроснику рефлексивности А. В. Карпова, опроснику самоорганизации деятельности Н. Физер и М. Бонд, методике изучения мотивации профессиональной карьеры Э. Шейна, тесту жизнестойкости С. Мадди. Также в главе представлен корреляционный анализ результатов исследования. Выводы по главе 2 включают в себя основные результаты эмпирического исследования. В заключении в обобщенном виде изложены результаты теоретической и эмпирической частей работы, а также выводы по ним, обоснована практическая значимость исследования и описаны возможные перспективы дальнейшей разработки данной проблематики.
