Občanský fotožurnalismus a videožurnalismus na českých zpravodajských webech / Citizen photojournalism and videojournalism on Czech news websites

Vilímová, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
The master's thesis deals with the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism in the Czech media landscape. It focuses on the frequency of the amateur photographs and videos published on the selected news web sites and also on the gatekeeping process. This master's thesis also reflects the editor's opinions on the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism. The citizen journalism is usually viewed from the perspective of the citizen journalists, but this master's thesis brings the view from the second side, from the media professionals. The thesis uses the combination of the quantitative and qualitative methods. Firstly, there was conducted the quantitative content analysis. Secondly, there were interviewed the media professionals. The conclusions of the master's thesis indicate that the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism is rarely used on the Czech web sites. The media professionals evaluate this phenomenon positively, find its contributions to the news flow but only under the certain conditions. On the other hand, they do not find the citizen photojournalism and videojournalism absolutely necessary element for the news service.

Operace Spojenecká síla ve vybraných českých denících / Operation Allied Force in Selected Czech Daily Newspapers

Božková, Lucie January 2019 (has links)
Thesis: Operation Allied Force in Selected Czech Daily Newspapers Author: Mgr. Lucie Božková Annotation In my thesis Operation 'Allied Force' in Selected Czech Daily Newspapers I am tracing the representation of the topic - NATO's air strikes in the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (the so called Operation 'Allied Force') in 1999 in selected Czech Daily Newspapers. I am observing the effects, media's impact, frames and agenda setting. To support the integrity of the topic I added a chapter about the Kosovo crisis which enlightens the initiation of the air attacks. Furthermore, and mainly I am focusing on professional studies dealing with military news. The dominant theme of these articles is the foreign media coverage of the Kosovo War. In the experts 'outputs I predominantly center on their choosing and the method of analysis, on which I then base my analysis on. I decided to use the method of the quantitative content analysis for my own research. The first period of exploration is the bombing period (March 24, 1999 - June 10, 1999). Here the aim of my analysis is to find out what attention have the daily newspapers MF Dnes, Hospodářské noviny, Právo and Blesk paid to the Operation 'Allied Force'. In addition, I followed the placement of the articles, media resources and also the presentation of...

Interpretace předvolebních výzkumů v českých tištěných denících / Interpretation of Pre-election Polls in The Czech Printed Dailies

Tučková, Kateřina January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis Interpretation of Pre-election Polls in The Czech Printed Dailies studyies the ways in which media portrays data from election polls as part of thier news service. The thesis draws from theories of media effects, the research of which indicates a possible influence of media content on the formation of public opinion or even voting behaviour. For this reason, it maz be expected that the media present data in line with certain standards. However, in the Czech Republic, there is no code of conduct that would formulate such requirements. This leads to an ongoing struggle between the research agencies who supply such data and the media who present it to the public, where each party judges the content's quality by different measures. Some of the often criticised errors include misinterpretation of data and an insufficient explanation of the research's background. This paper uses quantitative content analysis to examine 154 articles from Czech printed journals across the three pre-election periods (2010, 2013, 2017) with the aim of determining in which form the results of pre- election polls are presented, and if all necessary data are added. The final analysis looks at the data as a whole as well as examining the trendlines during the studied time period. In conclusion, it evaluates...

Nya Slussen i dagspressen : En kvantitativ innehållsanalys och kritisk diskursanalys av Dagens Nyheters, Svenska Dagbladets, Expressens och Aftonbladets rapportering om Nya Slussen

Landstedt, Christopher January 2012 (has links)
The reconstruction of a central area in Stockholm named Slussen (The sluice) has frequently been portrayed and debated in media over the last few years, escalating around December 2011 when the major decision regarding Slussen was to be made by the city council. The area serves as a traffic node connecting the areas of Södermalm and Gamla Stan (Old town) together. The last major change of Slussen was completed in 1935, best described as a modernistic traffic and architectural piece of work. It is indisputably an area of importance for the city of Stockholm, its citizens and visitors. How has media reported the development of the New Slussen project? The analysis, and the conclusions drawn from it, will be based upon and performed with a quantitative content analysis and critical discourse analysis. Articles from four of the largest daily newspapers in Sweden have been selected based upon the release date of Stockholm City’s official newsletters regarding the reconstruction project. The quantitative content analysis showed that words within the field and discourses of traffic were most common. That quantitative result shows interesting similarities with the result of the critical discourse analysis, most visible in the case of subject and discourse representation. Variations in use of language, subject representation and discourse recontextualization, between those who are campaigning for the new sluice and those who are against it were noticeable. In some cases it was more evident than in others.

La programmation télévisée au Québec et l’auditoire des 12-17 ans : analyse comparative de l’offre et de la consommation

Cloutier, Claudia 01 1900 (has links)
This research is an analysis of the supply and demand for Québec's French-language television production for youth and more specifically the 12 to17 years old demographic. As a result of low audience figures, the industry has a tendency to invest heavily in imported programs rather than the production of local programs. To better understand the political, economic and social issues surrounding the industry of television production for Youth, we propose to explore and compare the television supply aimed at 12 to 17 year-old and their television consumption. The quantitative and statistical analysis of supply and consumption is achieved in three ways: (i) the analysis of the receiving structure (programs with top ratings, differences between boys and girls and time spent), (ii) the analysis of the structure of programming (schedules, genres, country/province of production, main themes of programs) and (iii) the analysis of thematic structure (themes associated with episodes and characters). From this analysis, several findings emerge: Young people view what producers broadcast for them, despite the limited access to this supply. In addition, several tactics seem to be implemented to sustain the economics of the distribution of these programs, mainly multiple screening. Finally, these programs, aimed at adolescents, are fundamentally different from those for older audiences, not only by the audience they are trying to reach, but also by the themes they address and how they approach them.

Dagstidningar och damidrott : En kvantitativ innehållsanalys av genusrepresentationen på sportsidorna i Sveriges största lokala- och regionala dagstidningar

Fredriksson, Johan, Borg, Jenny January 2015 (has links)
According to earlier studies, men dominates the sports pages in Swedish newspapers. The gender balance is far from equal and the purpose of this thesis is therefore to look into how Swedish local and regional newspapers covered gender in their sports pages during the year of 2013. The study also examines the news values of men’s and women’s sports, whether there are any differences compared to previous studies and whether there are any differences across the country. The study uses a quantitative content analysis and the result is based on editorial material from six randomly selected newspapers in 18 randomly selected days. We have analyzed 2005 separate units in 108 copies of newspapers. The study shows, as in previous studies, that the news feed is mainly concentrated on sports practiced by men, and it isn’t any significant differences across the country regarding the coverage of gender. Sports practiced by men also have a higher newsworthiness since it gets more space and are more promoted on the frontpages of the newspapers. The conclusion is therefore that sports practiced by women are marginalized as a deviation from the male norm.

An analysis of international news in Malawi newspapers

Kondowe, Emmanuel Braham Zumani 31 March 2008 (has links)
The study used quantitative content analysis to compare the international news content about Africa and the rest of the world in selected daily and weekly newspapers in Malawi and explored the extent to which economic factors, as represented by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), influence news flows about Africa into Malawi. The results showed dominance of the categories of war/international conflict and politics. International news agencies were the principal sources of news items for all the four papers. Though there were differences among the newspapers in the amount of space allocated to various categories such differences were minor. The study established that GDP is not a determinant of the amount of coverage a country receives. / Communication Science / M.A. (International Communication)
