Movies can be a source to enjoyment, cultural enrichment and relaxation. But movies are also filled with messages and subtext, that effects the one who watches the movie. One of the effects are the reproducing of stereotypes and racism. This essay concentrates on the five best grossing science fiction movies in Sweden between the years 2009 – 2014. I found out that the movies Avatar, Transformers 3, Avengers, Prometheus and Guardians of the galaxy all helps to reproduce white norms and that it effects the participating aspect of democracy. It also becomes clear that Swedish schools is not prepared enough to educate their young in source criticism.

Rasistisk "nyhetsmedia" på Internet har växt i samband med den alltmer framträdande rasistiska politiken i Europa och de diskurser som skribenterna på webbplatserna producerar berör oundvikligen många människors vardag. Dessa webbplatser utpekas i Sverige ofta av massmedia som "de där rasisterna" i en bekväm distansering, och mindre arbete görs för att förstå webbplatsernas faktiska roll i reproduceringen av strukturell och institutionell diskriminering i samhället. Denna studie undersökte under en 3 månaders period den rasistiska webbplatsn Avpixlats uppladdade "nyheter" samt kommentarer som medlemmar skrev på dessa. Empirin analyserades utifrån teori om andrafiering och intersektionella perspektiv inom en kritiskt diskursanalytisk ram. Studiens resultat visade på hur rasistisk "nyhetsmedia" på Internet reproducerar andrafiering och diskriminerande föreställningar i linje med diskursiva strategier som tidigare forskning påvisat hos annan media. Studien argumenterar att rasistiska "nyhetsmedier" genomgående fortsätter samma tradition av modern rasism och sexism som karaktäriserar massmedia i stort. / <p>2015-06-23</p>

The aim of the study is to examine what upper secondary school students think that they themselves and their school can do to create a peaceful society. The study combine qualitative and quantitative methods based on questionnaires distributed among 328 students in three high schools in Sweden. The survey is a combination of multiple choice and open questions. For the analysis of quantitative responses the computer program SPSS was used producing frequency tables and response rate schemes. To analyze the questionnaire's qualitative part a narrative analysis method was used. The central theoretical framework of the study is research on peace, positive peace, peace education and racism. The conclusion of the study is that most students in the survey believe that the school plays an important role in establishing and supporting peaceful values, both with the students and in society at large. Students feel that school should take on more responsibility as a peacemaking force than it does today. They also expressed that the schools need to work more with anti-racism, harassment and bullying and that they think that the teachers ought to get more training in these subjects. According to the students, their most important role as individuals is to act in a way that promotes a peaceful society while also living by what they preach.  They underlined the importance that each individual must take upon themselves to play an active role in promoting a peaceful society and they also stressed the importance of working together to bring these changes.

Bakgrund: Vi lever i en globaliserad värld och Sverige är en nation med en stor demografisk mångfald. Detta gäller även hälso- och sjukvården. Tidigare vetenskapliga studier och rapporter från fackföreningar visar att diskriminering mot sjuksköterskor av etnisk minoritet är vanligt i hälso- och sjukvården. Rapporter från fackföreningar i Finland och Storbritannien visar att uppemot 40 till 50 procent av sjuksköterskorna upplevt diskriminering på ett eller annat sätt. Diskrimineringen uttrycks på olika sätt och yttras från patienter, deras anhöriga samt personal. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att beskriva konsekvenserna för sjuksköterskans arbete när denne upplever diskriminering. Metod: Detta är en litteraturstudie baserad på tio stycken vetenskapliga artiklar av kvalitativ ansats. Resultat: Vid analysen av artiklarna hittades följande sex teman om hur sjuksköterskans arbete påverkas av diskriminering: otrygghet, osynliggörande, särbehandling, benägenhet att byta arbetsplats, underbetalda &amp; brist på karriärmöjligheter och nedvärdering av färdigheter. Slutsats: Konsekvenserna av diskrimineringen av sjuksköterskor av etnisk minoritet är stora för de utsatta sjuksköterskornas arbete. I slutändan påverkar diskrimineringen av sjuksköterskor patientsäkerheten och leder till en större personalomsättning. Klinisk betydelse: Denna studie kan ge större förståelse för hur diskriminering yttras och visar vad konsekvenserna blir för de utsatta sjuksköterskornas arbete. Att man blir medveten om detta på vårdinrättningarna kan vara till hjälp vid utformningen av riktlinjer för hanteringen av diskriminering vilket på sikt kommer öka patientsäkerheten. / Background: We live in a globalized world and Sweden is a nation with a great demographic diversity both in the society as a whole but also in the healthcare industry. Previous scientific studies and reports from trade unions show that discrimination against ethnic minority nurses is common in health care. Reports from trade unions in Finland and Great Britain show that as much as 40 to 50 percent of nurses have experienced discrimination in one way or the other. The discrimination is manifested in different ways and are being expressed by patients, their relatives and staff. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe the consequences on nurses’ work when he or she experiences discrimination. Method: This is a literary review based on ten scientific studies with qualitative approach. Results: The analysis revealed the following six themes on how the nurses’ work is affected by discrimination: insecurity, invisibility, different treatment, propensity to change job, underpaid &amp; lack of career opportunities and devaluation of skills. Conclusion: The impact of discrimination against ethnic minority nurses is great for the victimized nurses’ work. Ultimately this affects the safety of patients and lead to a greater employee turnover. Clinical significance: This study may provide a better understanding how discrimination is expressed and what consequences follow for the exposed nurses’ work. By being aware of the discrimination in the healthcare industry it might be of help when developing policies how to handle discrimination which in the long-term will improve the safety of patient.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka på vilka sätt facklitteratur avsedd för lärare och lärarstudenter i ämnet svenska som andraspråk reproducerar den koloniala skillnadsdiskursen. Jag har med stöd i framför allt postkolonial teori gjort en textanalys av en antologi inom ämnet andraspråksforskning och funnit att den koloniala diskursen oavsiktligt reproduceras genom förmedlingen av en statisk kultursyn, förenklande dikotomier och en assimilationsideologi. Min slutsats är att detta riskerar att få kontraproduktiva konsekvenser för andraspråksundervisningen och att lärare i svenska som andraspråk behöver ett medvetet kritiskt förhållningssätt i sin hela förståelse av ämnet.

Sports in general and football in particular have often been considered a good arena for integration, all of which should be of equal value and not discriminated because of, for example, their ethnicity or skin color. In this study, I have tried to look at the phenomenon stacking, disproportionate division of positions, existing in Allsvenskan during the 2017 edition, thus revealing whether there is discrimination in this elite race. It was found that stacking still occurred in Allsvenskan in 2017 but since the essay has been made in comparison with a similar study from 2012, it has turned out that stacking has now become a lesser issue in Swedish football. Why stacking has diminished may be due in part to the struggle of various non-profit organizations and the Swedish Football Association for increased integration.

This essay will analyse how racism is represented in hip-hop lyrics from the first 7 years of the 2010th decade. The lyrics will be divided into four various categories to show how the artist is using history to connect with the listener. When analysing the lyrics, a content analysis will be used were the lyrics are broken down into smaller parts. These smaller parts will be broken down and the valuable information is extracted. When doing this analysis, it is important to not break the lyrics into too small parts, if done the context can be lost.
