Vi hoppar över helvetesgapet och vi skyddar oss mot vildvittrorna : En kvalitativ studie om verksamma lärares aktiva arbete med högläsning / We jump over the hell mouth and we protect us against the wild imps. : A qualitative thesis on how working teachers actively use read-aloud in their education

Gillberg, Isabella January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to study how working teachers view the use of read-aloud as a pedagogical tool to develop pupils’ reading and writing skills. Four primary- school teachers have been interviewed for this study and they were chosen through a snowball sampling. The result shows that both the teachers in this study and previous research consider read-aloud as a pedagogical tool to have a positive effect on pupils’ development of reading and writing skills. The teachers in this study point out that teachers’ attitude towards reading is one significant aspect to pupils’ reading interest, but also that read-aloud allows a variation in the education. In this study, the result shows that the teachers believe that read-aloud activities contribute to the development of vocabulary, grammar, the ability to interpret and    make    connections    to    their   own experiences.

Högläsning i skolan : En studie om hur tre lågstadielärare arbetar med högläsning – föreställningar och motiv / Reading aloud in school. : A study of how three teachers in the lower level of compulsory school work with reading aloud - ideas and motives.

Wiezell, Linda January 2015 (has links)
The aim of the study was to investigate how teachers work with reading aloud. The aim also included examining their ideas about and motives for reading aloud. The study consisted of interviews with three teachers at the lower level of compulsory school along with observation of one of these teachers during a reading aloud session. The interviewed teachers work at three different schools in the same geographical area. The analytical tools chosen for the study were the theories of Rosenblatt. The three basic skills that Damber et al. showed children to develop through reading aloud were also used to interpret the result. The result showed that the teachers have two main purposes for the reading aloud sessions: relaxation and a structured occasion for learning. Two of the teachers use the project “A Reading Class”. The teachers say that the reading aloud creates a sense of community in the classroom when the children share the same reading experience. There are usually conversations during the sessions, but most conversations take place during the structured learning occasions. The teachers’ main motive for reading aloud is the ambition to develop an interest in books among the children, leading them into their own reading development. They want to give the children an entrance to the literary world.

”…då kan jag bara ta mobilen” : En studie om hur lärare och elever i årskurs 1 resonerar kring ljudböcker och högläsning / ” ...then I can just take the phone” : A study on how teachers and pupils in first grade reason about audiobooks and reading aloud

Svärd, Katarina, Jonasson, Elin January 2022 (has links)

Reading aloud as a language development tool in preschool. : Interviews with preschool teacher about the importance of reading aloud in teaching.

Englund, Maja January 2021 (has links)
The preschool's activities have a long tradition of reading aloud to children asa daily activity, usually as a rest for the children in the middle of the day. Thepurpose of this study is to shed light on how the teachers use children's literature from a language development perspective. Through interviews with preschool teachers, it has emerged that this language development work is something that differs partly between departments at a preschool but also in whatthe teacher in question has for knowledge in the area and the individual teacher's own interest. Several teachers want to work more with reading aloudsituations that have a focus on language development, this is because previousresearch has shown that early introduction of language development activitiesin preschools is crucial and will benefit all children to further develop the necessary language skills for future success. But due to large groups of childrenand lack of time this is hard to performe.

Effects of Interactive Read-Aloud and Literature Discussion on Reading Comprehension for First-Grade Students With Language Impairments in a Title 1 School

Salah, Elizabeth Vultaggio 01 January 2014 (has links)
Effects of Interactive Read-Aloud and Literature Discussion on Reading Comprehension for First-Grade Students With Language Impairments in a Title 1 School. Elizabeth Vultaggio Salah, 2014: Applied Dissertation, Nova Southeastern University, Abraham S. Fischler School of Education. Language Impaired, First-Grade, Title 1 Schools, Reading Comprehension, Interactive Read-Aloud, Literature Discussion, Fountas and Pinnell. This applied dissertation was designed to determine the effects of the interactive read-aloud and literature discussion on reading comprehension for first-grade students with language impairments in a Title 1 School. This study was conducted as an embedded case study design using a quantitative method for data collection and analysis. The de-identified data was collected and analyzed from two consecutive school years (i.e., 2012-2013, 2013-2014). Data on the students' overtime (i.e., from kindergarten to first-grade) was collected and analyzed based upon a multiple case study design. Data points were collected using the A-B design, a two phase, basic signal-subject design. The A in the A-B design was the individual student's baseline data point; whereas B, was the data point after the intervention. The researcher observed and measured individual student data from the kindergarten school year (A). The researcher administered the read-aloud intervention, and observed and measured multiple data points after the intervention (B). The students' scores were determined using ongoing data collection. Since the overall design was to measure improvement in the four students overtime, no comparison groups were used. An analysis of the de-identified data revealed how individual language impaired students responded to the intervention. The researcher concluded that interactive read-aloud coupled with literature discussions improved reading comprehension of first-grade language impaired students based on results of the Oral Language Assessment and the Comprehension Conversation Assessment of the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark System 1. Recommendations were made for future research.

Högläsningens betydelse för barns språkutveckling : En kvalitativ studie om förskollärares arbete med högläsning / The importance of reading aloud for children's language development : A qualitative study of preschool teachers' work with reading aloud

Ängerteg, Emma January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to look into the different ways preschool teacherswork with reading aloud to encourage kids language development. The studyis based on a qualitative method in the form of semi-structured interviews withsix preschool teachers at four separate preschools. All respondents in the studyare trained preschool teachers and work with children aged one to six years. The interviews have been transcribed and analyzed, the material is presentedin categories. The sociocultural perspective on learning is the basis for the study and the categories are presented in relation to the socio-cultural perspective. The results of the study show that preschool teachers see reading aloud as animportant part of the preschool's everyday activities and that it is used for different purposes; relaxation, comfort, sense of belonging, language development and encouragement of empathy and imagination. The results show thatpreschool teachers have a basic high awareness of the importance of readingaloud for children's language development. Finally, the results show that theconversation before, during and after about the book's content creates conditions for children's opportunity for development and learning.
