Školní uniforma: důvody, diskuze, rozhodnutí / School Uniform: Reasons, Discussion, Decision Making

Bednaříková, Barbora January 2013 (has links)
Innovation and change are phenomenons any time. Within the scope of the Theory and Prac- tice of School Management module, the theses deals with management of a specific change, namely introduction of school uniforms into practice. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on relevant specialized literature on school management, marketing strategy, school culture and change management. It is completed with available foreign experience and con- clusions of surveys and research of media image, which is playing an important role in respect with the issue. The practical part, i.e. research, provides information and data obtained by the author from interviews with management of schools currently introducing school uniforms. The research results show that the original expectations have not been met in any of the pro- jects included. Understanding the cause of this failure, or else, partial success of the projects, constitutes an important part of the information summary designed for school headmasters considering introduction of school uniforms. The generalized research findings combined with theoretical knowledge imply a set of key recommendations introduced in the thesis con- clusion.

The main goals were: understanding the clothes and school uniform as a way of communication among young people, identify the students conceptions about the role of school uniform CTUR, as well as the uniform changes made by students. From a qualitative-quantitative approach, we use many sources for the research: Brazilian legislation, official CTUR documents, semi-structured interviews with employees and students, non-participant observation and photographic records. Through photographs and the interviews, and based on official documents regarding the school uniform of the institution, we present and discuss the terms used by the interviewees. Students proved to be aware of the primary functions of the school uniform, and also pointed out advantages and disadvantages in their use - quite current discussion on social networks and websites specialized in education. They attributed to uniform safety functions, identification, discipline, and no differentiation of social classes. As positive points of the uniform use indicated economy and practicality; and as negatives little emphasis on individuality and the possibility of stereotyping students. They presented themselves proud to be able to wear the uniform of a Federal College, but still showed some youth predicates - that lead to a transgressive behavior, needing bypass rules to build (and state) their own identities - appropriating and transforming uniform, is customizing it, either by changing it to provide comfort, is writing it with accessories. Thus, the use of practices such as changes sleeve cuts and shirt collar on the grounds of comfort were the most significant. Along with them, the identity marks were closely linked to fashion, such as: use of slipper and sandal - despite the express prohibition; shorter shorts and colors and materials not allowed; trousers of colors, patterns and materials also varied, confronted with what is permitted by the College; various accessories such as caps, earrings, necklaces, jackets and other items - leather bracelet, banners and turbans, piercing, nails and painted mouths - characteristic of specific groups - rock, hippie, rasta, movement of black consciousness and homoaffective. We note that, although there are rules to control by the School, that is not performed in a very tough way, leaving room for students to present themselves as young people in shaping their identities, enabling us to conclude that the school uniform - and the elements he engaged - are specific means of communication between young students CTUR. But that in this communication also becomes important for students to be identified as such, with a membership status desired by them.

Dressed for School Success : A study into School Uniform and Dress Codes in Sweden and the United Kingdom

Edgecombe, Samuel January 2009 (has links)
This study highlights a number of different aspects regarding uniforms and dress codes in the United Kingdom (UK) and Sweden. The study comprises three parts: a quantitative comparison of GCSE pass rates for schools in the UK that do and do not have school uniforms, a qualitative survey study of Scottish High School pupils' perceptions about their uniform and a qualitative interview study of Swedish teachers, administrators and pupils about their school dress, rules regarding school dress and school uniforms. Regarding whether uniforms improved academic results by comparing GCSE pass rates in the UK we were unable to find conclusive evidence to suggest that schools which had uniform policies performed significantly better than other schools. Regarding Scottish pupils’ perceptions of their uniforms, pupils from lower-educated backgrounds were more likely to perceive that they were told off by teachers about not wearing the correct dress. When asked whether pupils felt more equal compared to their peers, those from lower-educated background were more likely to think that uniforms do not help to level out class difference compared to pupils from better educated backgrounds. Regarding bullying, even though uniforms existed at the school studied bullying due to what pupils wore to school still existed and pupils perceived that bullying due to other factors such as physical appearance also occurred. Regarding the results from interviews with teachers and administrators in the Swedish town studied, most teachers took a fairly relaxed attitude towards pupils’ dress although the dress code of not wearing outdoor clothes in High Schools was policed quite strongly. Teachers saw the issue of female pupils dressing overtly sexually as the biggest problem and this was dealt with on an individual level rather than a class level. High school pupils’ opinions of their dress code varied. Some hated the school rule that they were not allowed to wear outdoor clothes, whereas for others it was not seen as a big deal. A number of pupils thought that what you wore in class does not affect their learning outcomes. Very few pupils thought that introducing a uniform would be a good idea. Pupils at Sixth Form College had a more mature attitude towards their dress and were able to reflect back on their experiences from High School. They did not think that the issue of dress was a major issue in Sixth Form College however this did vary slightly between the three schools studied. Pupils at two of the schools perceived the dress code of the third school as being more formal, but this was due mainly to prejudice according to a number of pupils. The large majority of Sixth Form College students thought that introducing school uniform would be a bad idea and that bullying would not be eradicated because pupils can always pick on other attributes, not just clothing. However there were a couple of Sixth Form College that thought that introducing it would be a good way to reduce peer-pressure to buy the right clothes in High School.

Mokyklinė uniforma kaip bendruomeniškumo raiškos veiksnys / School uniform as a stimulus to communal expression abstract

Bacevič, Veslava 12 July 2011 (has links)
Remiantis ugdymo filosofinės, socialinės, pedagoginės bei istorinės literatūros analize, darbe keliamas tikslas ištirti mokyklinę uniformą bendruomeniškumo aspektu. Tikslui pasiekti teorinėje darbo dalyje buvo suformuluoti pagrindiniai uždaviniai: išsiaiškinti bendruomeniškumo raiškos visuomenėje ir bendruomeniškumo ugdymo mokykloje ypatumus; atskleisti mokyklinės uniformos istorinius metmenis ir jos stilistinius ypatumus sąlygojančius sociokultūrinius veiksnius bei įvertinti mokyklinės uniformos, kaip bendruomeniškumą konsoliduojančio veiksnio, reikšmę pedagoginiu, socialiniu ir estetiniu aspektais. Paskutinėje darbo dalyje pateikti empirinio tyrimo duomenys. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Following the analysis of the philosophical, social, educational and history sources on education, the research paper aims at examining a school uniform in terms of communal expression. With this end in view, the theoretical part of the paper sets forth the main tasks to find out characteristics of communal expression in society and of developinga sense of belonging to a schoolcommunity; to establishsocial and cultural factors which determined historical and stylistic features of a school uniform; and to assess the significance of a school uniform as the community consolidating factor in terms of education, society and aesthetics. The last part of the paper presents the empirical data. The study aims at identifying the communal aspects of a school uniform from the view of school community members. The paper ends with the four conclusions summarising theoretical and empirical parts of the research. With the sweeping social reforms, the development of a sense of belonging to a community is becoming a challenging task and a matter of concern for social science. Communal expression depends on social, ethic, moral and aesthetic competencies and skills of a person. Thus a school is considered to be a starting point for the purposeful development of the aforementioned capacities. On the other hand, a school represents a specific community which brings together people of different age, status and level of education. Hence the culture created by this community and related to its... [to full text]

Obligatorisk Skoluniform : Varför inte i Sverige?

Howard, Kyle January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to quantify principals' professional opinion on school uniform. Qualitative interviews were conducted with five primary school principals to ascertain what they consider the phrase 'school uniform' to imply. The principals' arguements for and against scool uniform were investigated, in addition to how they gauged the importance of the discussion of school uniform. The qualitative data collected was subjected to a discourse analysis, in order to identify the principals' implicit motivations. The results of this study show that the principals interviewed did not consider school uniform to be a particularly hot topic, and none of them had previously read any research regarding school uniform. All of the principals mentioned the fact that a school uniform infringes on children's rights, namely their freedom of expression. None of the principals mentioned arguments for school uniform on the grounds of improved discipline, grades or attendance but rather mentioned the possibility that school uniform might 'level the playing field' with regard to children's clothing. This indicates that Swedish principals do not experience issues regarding poor discipline, grades or attendance to the degree that potential resolutions have been researched. Instead the issues that the principals experience pertain to differences in children's socioeconomic backgrounds, and the challenges this encompases; as such the principals were more interested in potential resolutions so such issues. That being said, none of the principals interviewed actually believed that school uniform would resolve the differences between children from different socioeconomic classes.
