Previous issue date: 2017-03-31 / Water is essential for the maintenance of life, however, environmental pollution has been causing the loss of the quality of water resources, affecting not only the life of living beings. The reservoirs represent the main source of water to supply the demands of the Brazilian Northeast. However, the quality of stored water has suffered from the effects of anthropic activities makes it compromised for human consumption, animal and for irrigation. In this context, the present work aimed to elaborate a case study on water quality in semi-arid regions, not for human consumption, specifically in the Sisal Identity Territory, having as main study area the main public dams in the municipality of Teofil?ndia-BA. In order to meet the proposed objective, a mapping of the main water bodies of the municipality of Teofil?ndia-BA was carried out, using images from Landsat 8 satellite, OLI sensor of 2014, orbit 216/68 by supervised classification. Subsequently, fieldwork was carried out consisting of three (3) campaigns for the collection of surface water, occurring in the period of May (pre-rain), June (post-rain) and November (dry). The physico-chemical parameters and metals analyzed were: Temperature, Salinity, Chloride, pH, OD, BOD, COD, Turbidity, Temotolerant Coliforms, Cadmium, Lead, Copper, Chromium, Manganese, Nickel and were compared with the standards established by Resolution N? 357 / 2005 of the National Environmental Council - CONAMA. In the evaluation of the results of the Land Use Use map, it was verified that the agricultural culture class predominates in the region with about 44,46%, permanent agriculture (agave) covers 10,72%. The area used with the vegetation (caatinga) is representative, totaling 17,15%. The exposed soil class represents 6,64% and 8,82% of the shade classes. The identifiable water bodies in the satellite image represent 0,16% and 12,05% of urban area. The accuracy of the mapping for the water bodies, provided by the Tau index, was 0,70. Regarding the results of the water quality evaluation of the three public dams located near the urban perimeter in the municipality of Teofil?ndia-BA during the three campaigns, it was possible to observe that the concentrations of Chloride, Electrical Conductivity, OD, BOD, COD and Thermotolerant Coliforms presented Variations that exceeded the limits established by current legislation. As for the evaluated metals, only Cd was not detected at any point and sampled period. There were no, in their greatest majority, correlation between the variable studies. In the pre-rain period the trend of contamination in the water followed the decreasing order: Ni> Pb> Mn> Cr, in the post-rain: Ni> Pb> Mn> Zn and not dry: Ni> Pb> Cu> Zn. From the data presented, it can be inferred that the main source of pollution of the waters of the dams is derived from anthropogenic origin, mainly by agricultural activities and insufficient sewage network. / A ?gua ? essencial para a manuten??o da vida, entretanto, a polui??o ambiental vem causando a perda da qualidade dos recursos h?dricos, afetando n?o apenas a vida dos seres vivos. Os a?udes representam a principal fonte de ?gua para suprir as demandas no semi?rido do nordeste brasileiro. No entanto, a qualidade da ?gua armazenada tem sofrido os efeitos provenientes das atividades antr?picas tornando-a comprometida para o consumo humano, animal e para irriga??o. Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho elaborou um estudo de caso sobre a qualidade da ?gua, n?o para suprimento humano, em regi?es semi?ridas, especificamente no Territ?rio de Identidade do Sisal, tendo como ?rea de estudo os principais a?udes p?blicos no munic?pio de Teofil?ndia-BA. Para atender o objetivo proposto foi realizado um mapeamento dos principais corpos de ?gua do munic?pio de Teofil?ndia-BA, utilizando imagens do sat?lite Landsat 8, sensor OLI do ano de 2014, ?rbita 216/68 por meio da classifica??o supervisionada. Posteriormente foram realizados trabalhos de campo constando de 3 (tr?s) campanhas de coleta de ?guas superficiais, ocorridas no per?odo de maio (pr?-chuva), junho (p?s-chuva) e novembro (seco). Os par?metros f?sico-qu?micos e metais analisados foram: Temperatura, Salinidade, Cloreto, pH, OD, DBO, DQO, Turbidez, Coliformes Termotolerantes, cadmio, chumbo, cromo, cobre, mangan?s, n?quel e zinco foram comparados com os padr?es estabelecidos pela Resolu??o N? 357/2005 do Conselho Nacional de Meio Ambiente ? CONAMA. Na avalia??o dos resultados do mapa de Uso Ocupa??o do Solo verificou-se que a classe da cultura agropecu?ria predomina na regi?o com cerca de 44,46%, a agricultura permanente (agave) abrange, 10,72%. A ?rea utilizada com a vegeta??o (caatinga) ? representativa totalizando 17,15%. A classe solo exposto representa, 6,64% e 8,82% das classes sombras. Os corpos d??gua identific?veis na imagem de sat?lite representam 0,16% e 12,05% de ?rea urbana. A acur?cia do mapeamento para os corpos d??gua, fornecida pelo ?ndice Tau, foi de 0,70. Com rela??o ao resultado da avalia??o da qualidade da ?gua dos tr?s a?udes p?blicos localizados pr?ximo ao per?metro urbano no munic?pio de Teofil?ndia-BA durante as tr?s campanhas, foi poss?vel observar que as concentra??es de Cloreto, Condutividade El?trica, OD, DBO, DQO e Coliformes Termotolerantes apresentaram varia??es de valores que excederam os limites estabelecidos pela legisla??o vigente. Quanto aos metais avaliados somente o Cd n?o foi detectado em nenhum dos pontos e per?odos amostrados. N?o houve, em sua grande maioria, correla??o entre as vari?veis estudadas. No per?odo pr?-chuva a tend?ncia de contamina??o na ?gua seguiu a ordem decrescente: Ni>Pb>Mn>Cr, no p?s-chuva: Ni>Pb>Mn>Zn e no seco: Ni>Pb>Cu>Zn. A partir dos dados apresentados, pode-se inferir que a principal fonte poluidora das ?guas dos a?udes ? proveniente de origem antropog?nica, principalmente por atividades agropecu?rias e insufici?ncia de uma rede de esgotamento sanit?rio.

Previous issue date: 2006-09-26 / This current paper works on analysing the land settlement policies developed in the context of
northeastern semi-arid regions under the responsibility of INCRA. It aims at having a critical
reflection about the mentioned policy and making it clear that even if the experiences of
settlement have important impact on the regions where they are located, its development in
the semi-arid regions isn t supported by an attenuating strategic action of the restricted
conditions of this type of climate. At first a reference chart is elaborated trying to show the
development of the theme around the land policy and it s discussed its insertion in the
political, economic and social conjuncture producing a new setting for the land reform in the
country in the period of 1995-2002. Methodologically speaking, this dissertation is based on
Klaus Frey s and Bol?var Lamounier s approaches and focuses on qualitative nature. It s
hypothesized the idea that the universal nature in the conception of the policy and its
excessive centralized management are the main causes for the low impact on the effective
improvement for the families settled. In the first chapter, it s discussed the antagonisms and
controversies about the economic, social and political viability of land settlement, the political
fights of rural workers and their representative organization, the conceptions, organizations
and resulting impacts. While the second chapter aims at showing the circumstances under
which the settlements in the semi-arid regions are subjected and the critical aspects of the
policy into practice, the third chapter shows the material results of the policies in the semiarid
regions, commenting on considerations of qualitative nature. / Trata o presente trabalho da an?lise da pol?tica de assentamentos rurais desenvolvida no
contexto da regi?o semi-?rida do Nordeste sob a responsabilidade do INCRA. Tem como
objetivo fazer uma reflex?o cr?tica a respeito da citada pol?tica e tornar mais evidente que, no
geral, mesmo que as experi?ncias dos assentamentos revelem impactos importantes nas
regi?es onde os mesmos est?o localizados, o seu desenvolvimento no semi-?rido n?o est?
sustentado por uma a??o estrat?gica mitigadora das condi??es restritas desse tipo clim?tico.
Inicialmente, procuro construir um quadro de refer?ncia com o desenvolvimento da tem?tica
em torno da pol?tica agr?ria e comento a sua inser??o na conjuntura pol?tica, econ?mica e
social, formadora de um novo cen?rio para a reforma agr?ria no Pa?s, no qual, considero o
per?odo de 1995-2002. Metodologicamente, o trabalho est? ancorado nas abordagens da Klaus
Frey e de Bol?var Lamounier e tem como foco o car?ter qualitativo. Formulo como hip?tese,
que o car?ter universalizado na concep??o da pol?tica e sua gest?o excessivamente
centralizada, foram as causas preponderantes para o baixo impacto na melhoria efetiva das
condi??es das fam?lias assentadas. No cap?tulo 1, procuro abordar os antagonismos e as

Endemic species from the semiarid region of Brazil, as Martianthus leucocaphalus (Mart. Ex Benth.) J. F. B. Pastore, produce essential oils of great phytochemical and economic potential, due to its proven antimicrobial and antifungal activities. This species is not yet commercially cropped, but it is already known that biotic and abiotic factors play an important role on the production of essential oils, making it difficult to to explore these compounds. In this sense, we aimed to evaluate the effect of climate in different months of the year in edaphoclimatic conditions of Feira de Santana, BA, on the growth, production and composition of essential oil from M. leucocaphalus. Experiments were performed on Horto Florestal Experimental Unit from Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana. We monthly quantified growth, by foliar area parameters, using fresh and dried leaves, branches and inflorescences. In each period we evaluated content and chemical composition of essential oilds under a combination of Gas Chromatography techniques (CG), in order to quantify constituents and Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (CG/EM) to identify these constituents. Climatic data were obtained over INMET. Obtained data were analyzed under SAS, using Spearman correlation among variables and descriptive statistics. A mean test was performed on SISVAR for comparison. Total dried mass (MST) and essential oil content (TO) were higher on months of great solar intensity and lower on months with abundant precipitation. Constituents varied considerably due to climatic factors, with major concentration of the majoritary compound on more humid months with a low solar irradiance. / A fam?lia Lamiaceae possui not?vel import?ncia devido ?s suas ervas arom?ticas com potencial farmac?utico. Esp?cies end?micas do semi?rido do Brasil, como Martianthus leucocaphalus (Mart. ex Benth.) J.F.B.Pastore produzem ?leo essencial com elevado potencial fitoqu?mico e econ?mico, com atividade antimicrobiana e antif?ngica comprovada. Previous issue date: 2008-02-19 / During the dry and rainy periods, in the Piranhas-Assu river hydrographic basin, variations in bacterioplankton and trophic state indexes were studied in the lotic and lentic environments. The means of total bacterial density wavered in the order of 107 organisms. mL-1 and they were higher in the rainy period. Cocci bacteria were numerically predominant in all sampling points, influencing the total abundance of bacterioplankton. Total bacterial biomass varied from 659 to 1997,3 ?gC.L-1 due to the high values of filaments cellular volume. Total phosphorus amounted 108 ?g.L-1 and it had a positive correlation with chlorophyll a (r = 0,94; p < 0,05) during dry period, when these variables presented higher concentrations. There wasn t a high spatial variation. The low transparency of water and the phosphorus and chlorophyll concentrations indicated eutrophic or hipereutrophic levels in studied points of reservoir. These variables, associated with high density and biomass values found, alert to the necessity of a constant monitoring of the semi-arid aquatic ecosystems, where the quality of water is affected by dry occurrence / Varia??es no bacteriopl?ncton e nos ?ndices de estado tr?fico em ambientes l?tico e l?ntico de trechos da bacia hidrogr?fica do rio Piranhas-Assu foram estudadas nos per?odos seco e chuvoso. Previous issue date: 2009-03-02 / The aim of the present study was to identify the main plant use categories of native varieties from the Caatinga biome, in the rural community of Caic?, Rio Grande do Norte
state (Northeastern Brazil). Semi-structured and structured interviews were used to gather information from local specialists about the use of the plants. The uses of 69 species are described by 23 observers (woodsmen, herb doctors, healers, farmers and housewives) aged 35 years or more. These species were allocated to seven categories: medicinal, wood plants, nutritional, mystic, fuel, forage plants and domestic use. The most represented families were Fabaceae (14 spp.), Euphorbiaceae (6 spp.), Cucurbitaceae (3 spp.) and Cactaceae (3 spp.). The calculation of use- value showed that the cumaru (Amburana cearensis (Allem?o) A. C. Sm) and the jurema-preta (Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir) were the most commonly mentioned, in addition to having the largest number of uses. The data obtained confirm the potential of the plants from the Serid? region and reinforce the importance of biodiversity for rural communities, underscoring the need for local plant management / O presente estudo teve como objetivo identificar as principais categorias de uso de plantas nativas do bioma Caatinga, em uma comunidade rural no munic?pio de Caic?, Rio Grande do Norte (Nordeste do Brasil). Para isso, utilizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas e estruturadas buscando informa??es, junto a especialistas locais, sobre o uso das plantas. Previous issue date: 2011-02-24 / The scarcity of occurrence records of culicid species, transmitting insects of etiologic agents
for arboviruses, protozoan diseases and philarioses, and lack of information about their
interactions with the forest environment make the Caatinga one of the most unknown biomes
in Brazil. The aim of this study was to identify culicid species in a conservation unit located
in a preserved area of the Caatinga and the possible associations with local abiotic factors, as
well as characterize the natural and artificial ecotopes present in the Caatinga of Rio Grande
do Norte state. The Ecological Station of Serido (ESEC-Serid?) is a Caatinga Conservation
Unit located in a rural area of Rio Grande do Norte. The hot and dry climate of the Caatinga,
along with a short rainy season, favor the adaptation and resistance of plants, resulting in
completely distinct landscapes over the course of the year. The study took place over the
course of one year, with monthly collections between 10h-12h, 14h-16h and 18h-20h. Adult
mosquitoes were collected in a forest area using a manual suction trap with human bait as
attractant at the three times and a Shannon trap for night collections. During the rainy season
ovitraps were randomly distributed at different sites. The different capture sites were observed
and photographed. Immature and adult insects captured were taken to the laboratory for
identification. Of the 5081 insects collected in human-bait and Shannon traps, 75% were
Mansonia wilsoni. In addition, Aedeomyia, Aedes, Anopheles, Coquillettidia, Culex,
Haemagogus, Mansonia and Psorophora were identified. Of the 92 Haemagogus eggs found,
71 were collected on the banks of a reservoir. Mosquito larvae were found and photographed
in an artificial breeding site of a neighboring rural area. Humidity had the greatest influence
on culicid density in the Caatinga. Rain was important in the appearance of Haemagogus,
Anopheles, Aedes and Psorophora. Temperature had a negative influence on Anopheles
triannulatus. The occurence of important vector species of diseases in a little known
preserved area of the Caatinga as well as environmental and sociocultural questions are
factors that favor the emergence of transmitting insects, making these areas potential subject

umidade. A chuva foi importante no aparecimento dos g?neros Haemagogus, Anopheles,
Aedes e Psorophora. A temperatura influenciou negativamente Anopheles albitarsis. A
ocorr?ncia de importantes esp?cies vetoras de doen?as em uma ?rea preservada e pouco
conhecida da Caatinga associada ?s quest?es ambientais e socioculturais s?o fatores que
favorecem o aparecimento de insetos transmissores, tornando essas ?reas potencialmente

In semi-arid northeast, the water is an issue of concern, especially its quality. This region is common to the construction of reservoirs that capture rain water, streams and temporary rivers in search of ease this situation, being intended for various purposes. Water scarcity is a limiting factor for the economic and social development of the region and contributes to the maintenance of waterborne diseases. About 80% of diseases that occur in developing countries are infected by waterborne pathogens. Therefore, this study aimed to determine in two environments that are part of semil?nticos Armando Ribeiro Gon?alves reservoir, and a stretch of the river Assu, all located in the semiarid RN, the occurrence of opportunistic pathogenic bacteria; check the conceptions of teachers and health workers about the issues "waterborne diseases" and "bacteria" and a diagnosis of diarrheal diseases that affect the population in some municipalities of the semi-arid region of RN from a survey of epidemiological data. For identification of bacteria using commercial kits and the diagnosis of diarrheal disease was based on information from databases. The previous conceptions of teachers and health workers were obtained through questionnaires. The results confirmed the presence of opportunistic bacteria in the studied area, showing the importance of monitoring water quality. There was an under-reporting of cases of diarrhea pointing out flaws in the monitoring of Diarrheal Diseases and indicating the need to improve it. It was felt also the need to implement educational activities on topics dealt with both with teachers and health workers, since they were identified misconceptions on the subject / A ?gua ? essencial ? vida e a todos os organismos vivos e o seu suprimento ? necess?rio para o desenvolvimento econ?mico e para a qualidade de vida das popula??es humanas, mas sua qualidade vem sendo alterada pelas a??es antr?picas. No semi?rido nordestino, a ?gua ? uma quest?o preocupante, especialmente a sua qualidade. Nessa regi?o ? comum a constru??o de reservat?rios, que captam ?guas de chuvas, c?rregos e rios tempor?rios, na busca de amenizar essa situa??o, sendo destinados para diversas finalidades. A escassez de ?gua ? limitante para o desenvolvimento econ?mico e social da regi?o e contribui com a manuten??o das doen?as de veicula??o h?drica. O presente estudo objetiva comparar e discutir a evolu??o das pesquisas realizadas em ?mbito mundial, as quais fizeram uso do potencial biorremediador da Chromobacterium violaceum a metais pesados; compreender a capacidade biorremediadora e avaliar os padr?es fenot?picos de resist?ncia em cepas selvagens e padr?es (ATCC 12472) de C. violaceum diante dos metais pesados, Ferro, Zinco e Mangan?s, em diferentes concentra??es e intera??es met?licas; analisar os par?metros f?sico-qu?micos e microbiol?gicos do reservat?rio Engenheiro Armando Ribeiro Gon?alves, situado do munic?pio de Jucurutu (regi?o semi?rida do Rio Grande do Norte - RN); verificar a abordagem da tem?tica biorremedia??o em livros did?ticos do ensino fundamental e m?dio indicados pelo PNLD 2014 e 2012, respectivamente, assim como desenvolver um produto did?tico direcionado ? contextualiza??o da interface conhecimento t?cnico-cient?fico e meio ambiente. A revis?o sistem?tica foi limitada a trabalhos publicados entre 2001 e 2014, utilizando-se dos bancos de dados LILACS, PubMed e SciELO. A avalia??o da resist?ncia de C. violaceum aos metais pesados ocorreu em concentra??es decrescentes de Fe, Mn e Zn, durante intervalos de 24, 48 e 72 horas por planejamento fatorial completo 23; o isolamento e a identifica??o microbiol?gica foram realizados conforme metodologia preconizada pelo Standard Methods for Examinations of Water and Wastewater; a avalia??o da capacidade biorremediadora de C. violaceum por espectrofotometria de absor??o at?mica (EAA), enquanto que a an?lise das unidades de registro a partir da adapta??o da metodologia de an?lise de conte?do de Bardin (2004). A biolixivia??o foi a t?cnica mais discutida; o ouro o substrato biorremediado mais citado e a cianeta??o o mecanismo fenot?pico prevalente. Mecanismos gen?ticos foram citados em 29,4% das publica??es e entre as prote?nas transcritas por C. violaceum 18,3% eram ditas hipot?ticas. Ambas as cepas de C. violaceum apresentaram resist?ncia aos metais testes em diferentes escalas de concentra??es, intera??es e intervalos de exposi??o. No entanto aquelas selvagens apresentaram uma resposta de fase aguda mais eficiente comparadas ?s padr?es, sobretudo para as concentra??es de 80 a 480 g/100ml x 10-3. A an?lise f?sico-qu?mica da ?gua revelou par?metros aceit?veis, conforme a resolu??o vigente, exceto para o ponto 5, no que tange a an?lise do pH, nesse ponto ocorreu o isolamento da C. violaceum, cuja capacidade biorremediadora aos elementos Fe, Mn e Zn mostrou-se mais eficiente quanto ?s cepas ATCC. Todos os livros did?ticos analisados, embora tenham sido recomendados pelo PNLD, apresentaram car?ncias quanto ? tem?tica biorremedia??o, fazendo-se necess?rio o desenvolvimento de materiais did?ticos que visem suprir tal abordagem. Os dados avaliados demonstram a fundamental import?ncia da C. violaceum como microorganismo biorremediador de metais pesados e evidencia a import?ncia do monitoramento ambiental, desenvolvimento e aplica??o da biorremedia??o em ambientes impactados, bem como destaca a necessidade da reformula??o da interface educa??o ambiental e biotecnologia, com a finalidade de possibilitar ao docente e ao estudante de ensino m?dio e fundamental uma reflex?o mais cr?tica sobre as rela??es que envolvem a polui??o ambiental e as poss?veis ferramentas mitigadoras dessa problem?tica. / The low water quality in the Brazilian Semiarid, in the most of cases is associated to human activities, such as the release of metallic waste from the mined industry. This study aims to compare and discuss the research evolution performed worldwide, which made use of the potential of C. violaceum for bioremediation of heavy metals; understand the bioremediation and phenotypic resistance patterns in wild and Standard strains (ATCC 12472) of heavy metals, iron (Fe), zinc (Zn) and manganese (Mn), in differents responce time, concentrations and metal interactions; evaluate the physicochemical and microbiological parameters in Engenheiro Armando Ribeiro Gon?alves reservoir, located in the county of Jucurutu (semiarid region of Rio Grande do Norte - RN); analyze the approach of the subject bioremediation in textbooks from elementary and high school appointed by 2014 and 2012 PNLD, respectively, as well as developing an educational product targeted to approaching the technical and scientific knowledge and the environment interface. The systematic review was limited to research published between 2001 to 2015, using LILACS, PubMed, and SciELO databases. The evaluation of C. violaceum resistance for heavy metals occurred in decreasing concentrations of Fe, Zn and Mn, at intervals of 24, 48 and 72 hours by a full factorial design 23; the isolation and microbiological identification were performed according to the methodology recommended by the Standard Methods for Examinations of Water and Wastewater; the evaluation the use of the potential of C. violaceum for bioremediation of heavy metals was performed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), while the analysis of the reporting units was carried out from the adaptation of Bardin content analysis methodology (2004). The systematic survey showed that bioleaching technique was further discussed; gold was the bioremediated substrate most mentioned, and cyanidation was the prevalent phenotypic mechanism. Genetic mechanisms were mentioned in 29.4% of the publications, and among proteins transcribed by C. violaceum 18.3% were hypothetical. Whereas experimental data indicated that both strains of C. violaceum showed resistance to the metals tests on different scales concentrations, interactions and exposure intervals (p<10-5). However that wild showed a more efficient acute phase response compared to the standard, especially for metal concentrations from 80 to 480 g/100 mL x 10-3. The physicochemical water analysis revealed acceptable parameters as the current resolution, except for point five, as regards the analysis of pH, on this point was the isolation of C. violaceum, whose the use in bioremediation of Fe, Zn and Mn showed more efficient as the ATCC strain (p<10-5). Finally, the educational axis directed to the analysis of the textbooks showed that all of them, although they were recommended by PNLD, showed shortcomings regarding the subject bioremediation, making it necessary to develop educational materials aiming at to supply such an approach. The evaluated data demonstrated the fundamental importance of C. violaceum in bioremediation of heavy metals and highlights the importance of environmental monitoring, development and application of bioremediation in impacted environments and emphasizes the need to reworking the environmental education and biotechnology interface, in order to enable the teacher and high school and fundamental students to a critical reflection about the relationships involving environmental pollution and possible mitigation tools of this problem.

Previous issue date: 2008-07-03 / ?The aims of this study were: i) assessing the trophic state of the Mendubim reservoir (semi-arid, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil; 05? 38 99,0 S 36?55 98,0 W) based on chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations and water transparency; ii) relating the patterns of temporal variation of zooplankton and phytoplankton to the trophic
state of the reservoir and iii) investigating the carrying capacity of the reservoir for cage fish farming. The samplingwas done monthly from July 2006 to July 2007 in three stations at the reservoir: next to the dam (barrage), in the central region and in the mouth of the main tributary. The abiotic and biotic variables analyzed were: Secchi depth, volatiles and fixed suspended solids, chlorophyll-a, total phosphorus and nitrogen, TN:TP ratio and mesozooplankton and phytoplankton composition and biomass. The results
showed that the reservoir can be considered as mesotrophic with mean concentrations of total nitrogen, phosphorus and chlorophyll-a equal to 1711, 1 ?g.L-1, 30,8 ?g.L-1 and 5,62 ?g.L-1 respectively. The Cyanophyceae class was the most representative in terms of density, with the presence of potentially toxic species such as Microcystis aeruginosa,
Planktothrix planctonica, Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii, Aphanizomenon sp. ,Aphanocapsa delicatissima and Pseudanabaena acicularis. Among the zooplankton, the
genus Notodiaptomus presented the largest biomass values. Overall, our results show that the light limitation should explain the weak relationship between chlorophyll-a and total phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations. We concluded that the water of Mendubim reservoir is suitable for intensive fish cage aquaculture. Based on the carrying capacity

Previous issue date: 2009-02-10 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / The eutrofization is a natural process of accumulation of nutrients in aquatic?s body that it has been accelerated for the human?s actives, mainly the related with the activities of camp, industrial and the inadequate disposition of the domestic sewage. The enrichment of the aquatic?s body with nutrients, mainly the nitrogen and the phosphorus, and the consequent proliferation of algae and Cyanobacteria can commit the quality of the water for the public provisioning, for the fish farming and for other ends. The problem becomes more critical when there is a shortage of water naturally as in the semi-arid area of the Brazilian northeast. Before that problem this work had as objective evaluates the trophic state of six reservoirs of the basin of River Serid? of Rio Grande of Norte and also estimate the capacity of load of match of the reservoir and risk probabilities based on the established limits by the resolution Conama 357/05. The results demonstrate that the six reservoirs are eutrofization, with concentration of total phosphorus and cloro a in the water upster to 50 e 12 μg l-1. The results show that space homogeneity exists in the state trophic of the reservoirs, but a significant variation interanual in function of the increase of the concentrations of nutrients and decrease of the transparency of the water with the reduction of the body of water accumulated in the reservoirs.The results of the simulation risk estocastic show that the reservoirs could receive annually from 72 to 216 Kg of P, assuming a risk of 10% of increasing in more than 30 μg l-1 the annual medium concentrations of total match in the water of these reservoirs. This load could be high in until 360 kg of P a year in case the managers assume a risk of 10% of increasing in more than 50 μg l-1 the annual medium concentrations of total phosphorus in the waters of these reservoirs / A eutrofiza??o ? um processo de ac?mulo de nutrientes em ambientes aqu?ticos que tem sido acelerado pelas atividades antr?picas, principalmente as relacionadas com as atividades agropastoris, industriais e a disposi??o inadequada dos efluentes dom?sticos. O enriquecimento do ambiente aqu?tico com nutrientes, principalmente o nitrog?nio e o f?sforo, e a conseq?ente prolifera??o de algas e cianobact?rias podem comprometer a qualidade da ?gua para o abastecimento p?blico, para a piscicultura e para outros fins. O problema se torna mais cr?tico quando h? naturalmente uma escassez de ?gua como na regi?o semi-?rida do nordeste brasileiro. Diante dessa problem?tica este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o estado tr?fico de seis reservat?rios da bacia do Rio Serid? no Rio Grande do Norte e tamb?m mensurar a capacidade de carga de f?sforo dos reservat?rios visando o seu enquadramento segundo a resolu??o CONAMA 357/05. Os resultados demonstram que os seis reservat?rios encontram-se eutrofizados, com concentra??es de f?sforo total e clorofila a na ?gua superiores a 50 e 12 ?g l-1 respectivamente. Os resultados mostram que existe uma homogeneidade espacial, mas uma significativa varia??o interanual no estado tr?fico dos reservat?rios em fun??o das varia??es do volume de ?gua acumulado nos reservat?rios. Os resultados da simula??o estoc?stica de risco mostram que os reservat?rios com maior capacidade de carga poderiam receber anualmente at? 216 Kg de P, assumindo um risco de 10% de aumentar em mais de 30 ?g l-1 as concentra??es m?dias anuais de f?sforo total na ?gua destes reservat?rios.
