A tale of two community health facilities : exploring differencesMolefe, Nsizwa Robert Jonathan 06 1900 (has links)
This study looks at two community mental health facilities. The one setting is that of a state aided organisation, while the other is a non-government organisation (NGO). These two settings are contrasted in terms of how they conceptualise the concept 'community', their physical settings and facilities, and the activities and processes at each setting. The differences in the day-to-day operational processes, and activities according to their respective philosophies - psychiatric medical model and ecological model - are explored and captured from the participants through utilising qualitative data gathering methods such as
interviews, observations and the personal experiences of the researcher. The information obtained from each participant in both settings reflect how they think, feel and behave towards their work. This information contributes to an understanding of how community mental health clinics operate. Finally the recommendations are of how work could be done differently, making them both more community orientated. / M. A.(Clinical Psychology)

NONINVASIVE MEASUREMENT OF HEARTRATE, RESPIRATORY RATE, AND BLOOD OXYGENATION THROUGH WEARABLE DEVICESJason David Ummel (10724028) 29 April 2021 (has links)

The last two decades have shown a boom in the field of
wearable sensing technology. Particularly in the consumer industry, growing
trends towards personalized health have pushed new devices to report many vital
signs, with a demand for high accuracy and reliability. The most common
technique used to gather these vitals is photoplethysmography or PPG. PPG devices
are ideal for wearable applications as they are simple, power-efficient, and
can be implemented on almost any area of the body. Traditionally PPGs were
utilized for capturing just heart rate, however, recent advancements in
hardware and digital processing have led to other metrics including respiratory
rate (RR) and peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2), to be reported as well. Our
research investigates the potential for wearable devices to be used for
outpatient apnea monitoring, and particularly the ability to detect opioid
misuse resulting in respiratory depression. Ultimately, the long-term goal of
this work is to develop a wearable device that can be used in the
rehabilitation process to ensure both accountability and safety of the wearer.
This document details contributions towards this goal through the design,
development, and evaluation of a device called “Kick Ring”. Primarily, we
investigate the ability of Kick Ring to record heartrate (HR), RR, and SpO2. Moreover,
we show that the device can calculate RR in real time and can provide an
immediate indication of abnormal events such as respiratory depression. Finally,
we explore a novel method for reporting apnea events through the use of several
PPG characteristics. Kick Ring reliably gathers respiratory metrics and offers
a combination of features that does not exist in the current wearables space.
These advancements will help to move the field forward, and eventually aid in
early detection of life-threatening events.

Streamlining Certification Management with Automation and Certification Retrieval : System development using ABP Framework, Angular, and MongoDB / Effektivisering av certifikathantering med automatisering och certifikathämtning : Systemutveckling med ABP Framework, Angular och MongoDBHassan, Nour Al Dine January 2024 (has links)
This thesis examines the certification management challenge faced by Integrity360. The decentralized approach, characterized by manual processes and disparate data sources, leads to inefficient tracking of certification status and study progress. The main objective of this project was to construct a system that automates data retrieval, ensures a complete audit, and increases security and privacy. Leveraging the ASP.NET Boilerplate (ABP) framework, Angular, and MongoDB, an efficient and scalable system was designed, developed, and built based on DDD (domain-driven design) principles for a modular and maintainable architecture. The implemented system automates data retrieval from the Credly API, tracks exam information, manages exam vouchers, and implements a credible authentication system with role-based access control. With the time limitations behind the full-scale implementation of all the planned features, such as a dashboard with aggregated charts and automatic report generation, the platform significantly increases the efficiency and precision of employee certification management. Future work will include these advanced functionalities and integrations with external platforms to improve the system and increase its impact on operations in Integrity360.
