Socialt arv i Socialt arbete : En narrativ studie om socialarbetares erfarenheter och möten med det sociala arvet / Social heritage in Social Work : A narrative study about social workers experiences and meetings with the social heritage

Gustav Jonson's theory of the social heritage characterized social work in Sweden during the 1960s and onwards. The social policy issues debated then were about class society, labelling and alienation. After thirty years of professional work as a social worker, I find it interesting that the work still focuses on the theory of the social heritage and methods for breaking it. The aim of this study is to examine possible explanations to why this is so. The empirical material is taken from interviews with senior social workers. Issues examined are how they perceive social work and the theory of the social heritage. The results of the interviews have been processed based upon narrative analysis and reported in the form of meta-narratives. The stories provide a historical view of social work, encounters, situations and contexts. The final discussion is about how the social heritage is created, identified and carried forward. The conclusions show that the social heritage is a social construction created by the society and its inhabitants.The issue then, is to understand and to relate to this context, creating security control and balance in it. As a phenomenon, the social heritage can come to act as conservation and thus become a counterforce to change. Based on discussion and conclusions, it appears that efforts to break the social heritage are questionable. The study is a social psychological qualitative study worked with from a social constructionist perspective.

De vuxna maskrosbarnen : en kvalitativ intervjustudie

Syftet med denna kvalitativa intervjustudie var att med hjälp av sociologiska teorier undersöka orsakerna till att maskrosbarn trots en destruktiv uppväxtmiljö kan utvecklas till socialt fungerande människor. Maskrosbarnen i denna studie har vuxit upp med missbruk och/eller psykisk sjukdom hos föräldrar i barndomen. Data samlades in via semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra olika teman: det sociala arvet, skola och arbete, socialt nätverk samt hälsa och välmående. Vilket vi sedan analyserade med hjälp av de teoretiska tolkningsramarna, Antonovskys teori KASAM och Bourdieus teori om Klassreproduktion. Resultaten visade att förekomsten av trygghetspersoner i barndomen samt möjligheten att uppleva en annan familjedynamik och miljö än deras egen hemmiljö har påverkat dem positivt. Även deras avhållsamma inställning till alkohol och droger samt deras starka ansvarskänsla har påverkat deras totala sociala kapital positivt. / The purpose of this qualitative interview study was to research with the help of sociological theories the reasons why resilient children despite a destructive childhood can evolve to social functioning humans. Resilient children in this study have grown up with addiction and/or mental illness among parents in childhood. Data was collected by semi structured interviews with four different themes: the social heritage, education and work, social network and health and well-being. Which we analyzed with the help of the theoreticalframeworks, Antonovskys theory Salutogenesis and Bourdieus Reproduction theory. The results showed that the presence of safety figures in childhood as well as the opportunity to experience a different family dynamic and another environment than their own home environment has affected them positively. Even their abstinence approach to alcohol and drugs, and that they have a strong sense of responsibility has affected their overall social capital positively.

Yrkesprogram vs högskoleförberedande program : En studie om påverkansfaktorer och grundläggande högskolebehörighet

Syftet med arbetet var att undersöka hur elever i år 9 har för uppfattning om valet av gymnasieprogram gällande högskoleförberedande program och yrkesprogram. Vidare ville vi få kunskap om påverkansfaktorer samt om 2011 års reform gällande grundläggande behörighet påverkar elevernas val. Frågeställningarna vi ville få besvarade är hur fördelningen ser ut mellan yrkesprogram och högskoleförberedande program, hur eleverna rangordnar påverkansfaktorer vid valet av yrkesprogram respektive högskoleförberedande program samt hur eleverna tänker kring den grundläggande högskolebehörigheten. För att få svar på våra frågor genomförde vi en kvantitativ studie i form av en webenkät som besvarades av 234 elever i år 9. I vår teoridel har vi lyft tidigare forskning inom detta område samt hur ämnet lyfts i media, av myndigheter och politiska sammanhang. Vi utgick från Gottfredsons teori Theory of circumscription, compromise and self-creation samt Hodkinsson & Sparks teori Careership theory som grundar sig på Bourdieus tankar. Centrala begrepp i arbetet är karriärval, påverkansfaktorer i form av genus, socialt arv samt grundläggande högskolebehörighet. Vårt resultat visar att eleverna i vår studie väljer yrkesprogram i större utsträckning än övriga landet. Studien visar att eleverna väljer program utifrån intresse och att de anser att de inte påverkas av sin omgivning. Vår studie visar också att det finns en relativt god medvetenhet om den grundläggande behörigheten. / The purpose of the study was to investigate what pupils in year 9 think about the choice of high school programs for university preparatory programs and vocational programs. In addition, we wanted to get knowledge of factors of influence, and if the 2011 reform of basic competences affects students' choices. The questions we wanted to get answered were the distribution of vocational programs and university preparatory programs, how the students rank factors of influence in the choice of vocational programs and university preparatory programs as well as how students think about the basic university degree. To answer our questions, we conducted a quantitative study in the form of a web survey answered by 234 students in year 9. In our theoretical part, we have raised previous research in this area and how the subject has been raised in the media, by authorities and in political contexts. The study was based on Gottfredson's theory Theory of circumscription, compromise and self-creation, as well as Hodkinsson & Spark's theory Careership theory, based on Bourdieu's thoughts. Key concepts in the work are career choices, impact factors in the form of gender, social heritage and basic university admission. Our results show that students in our study choose vocational programs to a greater extent than the rest of the country. It also shows that students choose programs based on interest. Furthermore, they do not feel affected by their surroundings. Our study also shows that there is a relatively good awareness of the basic competence.

Pelotas was chosen as an area of concentration of research in view of its historical background and studies conducted in the area of memory. The focus is temporal bounding the 1920 s on the basis of regional importance that the city obtained as a major producer of culture and information. The research took place at the Pelotas Public Library as source reviewed journals and graphic works produced at the time. The structure of the work consists of the first chapter containing historical charts of the processes, the second chapter contains the methodology, data from field research and inventory summary of the companies operating the decade and the third chapter related data from previous chapters and an analytical inventory of the printing industry in Pelotas - RS / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo colaborar para a constituição de suportes para uma memória gráfica tendo como meio o inventário da indústria gráfica em Pelotas/RS na década de 1920, este composto por empresas que atuavam na impressão em série de projetos gráficos. Pelotas foi escolhida como espaço de concentração da pesquisa tendo em vista sua trajetória histórica e os estudos realizados na área de memória. O foco delimitador temporal é a década de 1920 em função da importância regional que a cidade obteve como pólo produtor de cultura e informação. Det dolda våldet i nära relationer : En kvalitativ studie om hur kvinnor med olika bakgrund resonerar kring och förhåller sig till olika våldsformer.

Våld riktat mot kvinnor, som mest sker i form av våld i nära relationer, är en avspegling av ojämn maktstruktur mellan män och kvinnor. Därmed anses våld mot kvinnor som en maktutövning, där kvinnors rättigheter och grundläggande friheter utsätts för kränkning. Våld kan innehålla dolda former, vilket sker när dessa former inte namnges eller definieras. Dessa former involveras sällan under det fysiska våldet och därför förblir de osynliga. Syftet med denna uppsats är, att öka kunskapen om hur kvinnor med olika bakgrund resonerar kring och definierar de dolda våldsformerna, det vill säga psykiskt, kontrollerande och sexuellt våld. Dessutom vill vi undersöka om socialisationsprocessen kan påverka kvinnors inställning till våldets olika former. Det empiriska materialet består av individuella intervjuer med sex kvinnor med olika bakgrund. Utifrån feministiska- och familjevåldsperspektivet som utgör centrala perspektiv för denna uppsats, samt med hjälp av hermeneutiska och tematisk analysmetoden har vi analyserat studiens empiriska data. Resultaten visar, att kvinnornas socialisation i förhållande till män, kan påverkas av både det sociala arvet och den sociala inlärningen. Det framkommer även att kvinnorna i vissa avseenden har definitionssvårigheter när det gäller en del våldsformer. Utöver det visar det sig att kvinnornas inställning till olika våldsformer påverkas av ett antal faktorer, inte minst det sociala arvet, som är ett återkommande tema i det empiriska materialet. / Violence directed against women, most of which occurs in the form of violence in close relationships, is a reflection of uneven power structure between men and women. Thus violence against women is considered a power exercise, where women's rights and fundamental freedoms are subjected to violation. Violence may contain hidden forms, which occurs when these forms are not named or defined. These forms are rarely involved in physical violence and therefore they remain invisible. The purpose of this paper is to increase the knowledge about how women of different backgrounds resonate and define the hidden forms of violence, namely psychological, controlling and sexual violence. In addition, we want to investigate whether the socialization process can affect women's attitude towards the various forms of violence. The empirical material consists of individual interviews with six women with different backgrounds. Based on the radical phenomenon and family violence perspective, which constitutes central perspective for this paper, as well as the hermeneutic and thematic analysis method, we have analyzed the empirical data of the study. The results show that women's socialization relative to men can be influenced by both the social heritage and social learning. It also appears that the women in some respects have definitional difficulties in some forms of violence. In addition, it appears that women's attitude to different forms of violence is influenced by a number of factors, not least the social heritage, which is a recurring theme in the empirical material.

"Man kan se det som samhällets misslyckande" : En kvalitativ studie om hur socialsekreterare inom individ och familjeomsorg arbetar för att bryta det sociala arvet / "You can view it as a failure of society" : A qualitativ study on how social workers within the individual an family care work to break the social heritage

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur socialsekreterare inom individ och familjeomsorgen (IFO) i två kommuner i Värmland arbetar för att bryta det sociala arvet. Vi använder oss utav en kvalitativ metod för att uppnå studiens syfte. Studien bygger på intervjuer med sju yrkesverksamma socionomer, där samtliga är verksamma inom IFO. Data analyseras med hjälp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys och tolkats utifrån empowerment-teorin och Gustav Jonssons teori om det sociala arvet. Resultatet visade att IFO arbetar utifrån två olika synsätt för bryta ett socialt arv, det ena innefattar att tillföra nya influenser till barnet i dennes hemmiljö och det andra innebär att avlägsna den unge från sin bristande hemmiljö för att på så sätt tillföra nya perspektiv. Resultatet visar även att det förebyggande arbetet är en bristvara inom kommunerna, vilket försvårar arbetet att kunna fånga upp individer i ett tidigt skede. Slutsatsen var att socialsekreterarna använder sociala insatser som verktyg för att öka möjligheterna till att bryta både det enskilda barnet och familjens behov av sociala insatser, dock i samma stund som insatsen tillsätts arbetar socialsekreterare IFO aktivt för att stärka individer för att de ska kunna klara sig själva. Vi gör tolkningen att individernas sociala arv kan påverka deras motivation till insats. / The purpose of this study was to investigate how social workers within the individual and family care (IFO) work in two municipalities in Värmland to break the social heritages.  The study is based on interviews with seven professional social workers, all of them are working within IFO. Data has been analysed with a qualitative content analysis and Empowerment Theory and Gustav Jonsson's (1969) Theory of Social Heritage. The results showed that social workers utilise two different approaches to break negative intergenerational patterns. The first approach involves introducing new, positive influences to the child and it´s family in their home environment, whilst the second approach involves removing the child from undesirable environmental aspects in order to add new, positive influences. The result also showed that the lack of preventive interventions makes it difficult to assist individuals at an early stage. We conclude that social workers utilise social intervention as a method to increase the success rates of breaking the negative social heritage to children and their families. Evidently, at the same time as social intervention is utilised, the IFO social workers aim to actively strengthen individuals so that they can function on their own.  We do the interpretation that an individuals' social heritage may have an impact on their motivation for effort.

The time period in question dates from the decades of consolidation of the Regime do Estado Novo - from the 1930s to the present day, through pre and post World War II stages, showing how the category was built, its performance in the world conflict, its return home as heroes, its abandonment by the State and its materialization in the form of symbols throughout national territory. In the search for the confirmation of the hypothesis that it would be the category of the FEB and its members, living assets of society, which generated the question of the military heritage and its representativeness in the form of symbols. These being the FEB category itself, its monuments , museums, virtual memory spaces, private collections and memoirs of living veterans and individuals in general, cultural productions such as films, documentaries and books, created and developed for researchers, writers, filmmakers, admirers, family members and war veterans themselves. As an interdisciplinary research project, the approaches used included several humanistic chains, based on authors and the concepts of disciplines such as geography, history, sociology and arts, showing that the complexity of the theme and the hypotheses, which called for this large a range of scientific approaches. The research presents acceptable proof and conclusions, but is not fully closed, since the construction process itself, still ongoing, was the most evident element at work. / A presente tese tem como objetivo mostrar a representatividade da categoria social da Força Expedicionária Brasileira – FEB, enquanto uma categoria especial da sociedade. O recorte temporal de estudo parte das décadas de consolidação do Regime do Estado Novo – década de 30 até os dias atuais, passando pelo pré e pós Segunda Guerra Mundial, mostrando como se construiu a categoria, sua atuação no conflito mundial, seu regresso enquanto heróis, sua situação de abandono pelo Estado e sua materialização na forma de símbolos pelo território nacional. Na busca pela comprovação da hipótese de que seria a categoria da FEB e seus integrantes, patrimônios vivos da sociedade, partiu-se da problemática envolvendo o patrimônio militar e sua representatividade na forma de símbolos, ou seja, a própria categoria da FEB, seus monumentos, museus, espaços de memória, acervos particulares e memórias dos veteranos vivos e dos indivíduos em geral, produções culturais como filmes, documentários e livros, criados e desenvolvido por pesquisadores, escritores, cineastas, admiradores, familiares e os próprios veteranos de guerra. Enquanto uma pesquisa interdisciplinar, as abordagens passaram pela corrente humanística, pautando-se em autores e conceitos de disciplinas como geografia, história, semiótica, sociologia, artes, mostrando que a complexidade da temática e das hipóteses necessitava desse leque de enfoques científicos. A pesquisa apresenta comprovações aceitáveis, mas jamais finalizadas, visto que o processo de construção foi o elemento mais evidente no trabalho como um todo.
