Managed Mental Health Care (MMHC) began blanketing the United States when cost of care rose exponentially. MMHC is one avenue many employers and insurance companies have chosen to provide employees with mental health treatment at controlled costs. However, not all employers view supplying their employees with mental health treatment beneficial, as they do not know mental health problems can significantly decrease work productivity. Brown and Jones (2005) used the Social Role Scale (SR) of the Severe Outcome Questionnaire (SOQ) to estimate work productivity in employees under the assumption that the scale measures work productivity. The purpose of this study was to move closer to an estimation of the relationship between improved mental health and improved workplace functioning by examining the relationships among a self-report measure of mental health (i.e., the SR), a self-report measure of work productivity (i.e., the Work Productivity and Activity Impairment Scale [WPAI]), and objective measures of work productivity (i.e., the quality and timeliness of institutional records, supervisor ratings, and sick hours used). It was thought that understanding the relationships among these measures might assist in estimating the cost/benefit of investing in psychotherapy. Participants in this study were employees and inpatients at the Utah State Hospital. Statistical analyses indicated the SR did predict two WPAI scales (i.e., Presenteeism and Activity Impairment) for employees. Specific relationships among measures, and suggestions for future research, are discussed.

Studien belyser hur homosocialitet (tendensen att välja personer som liknar en själv) spelar en stor roll i rekryteringsprocessen. Detta fenomen bidrar till att män oftare väljs till ledande positioner, vilket förstärker könsskillnader i ledarskap. Studien visar att kvinnor behöver kräva mer i lön och inte dra sig för förhandlingar. Löneskillnader mellan könen uppfattas som omotiverade och orättvisa eftersom kvinnor erbjuds mindre lön för samma arbete. Method: Mixed method approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative techniques, with an emphasis on the qualitative part. A mixed-method approach has been employed, and the empirical data have been collected through both surveys and interviews with tenindividuals holding leadership positions. Results and conclusions: The study emphasizes that women, to a greater extent than men, feel the need to assert themselves and fight harder in the workplace. This confirms how social expectations and stereotypes create an environment where women feel compelled to overperform to achieve the same level of recognition as men. The current study examined whether there are sex-based differences in adolescents’ accuracy in perceiving and acceptance of parental socialisation values. Together with their parents, a total of 134 adolescents (aged 13 to 18) from private Christian schools in Johannesburg, South Africa participated in the study. After creating the measures of overall accuracy, overall acceptance, specific accuracy and specific acceptance, a series of mixed-design ANOVAs were conducted in order to evaluate the six research hypotheses. The results illustrated that there may be sex-based differences in adolescents’ accuracy in perceiving the importance that their mothers and fathers place on the value of power as a socialisation value. However, the overall results suggested that the focus on the effect of adolescent sex on adolescents’ accuracy in perceiving and acceptance of parental socialisation values was too narrow because various parent sex and adolescent sex interaction effects were found. Furthermore, there is no clear pattern indicating how sex influences adolescents’ accuracy in perceiving and acceptance of parental socialisation values, thus suggesting that the influence of sex is value-specific. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology: Research Consultation)

Parmi toutes nos activités, le travail occupe une place centrale dans nos sociétés et il n’échappe pas aux profondes transformations de la société. Les trajectoires professionnelles ne sont plus linéaires ni stables, elles introduisent moins les individus dans des collectifs socio-catégoriels. Comment les sujets se construisent-ils aujourd’hui ? Quel est l’impact de l’individualisation sur la dynamique identitaire socioprofessionnelle, dans un contexte où l’emprise catégorielle est en perte d’influence ? Cette thèse a comme objectif d’approfondir la question de l’identité et les méthodes qui s’y adjoignent dans un contexte organisationnel en profonde mutation. Je présenterai un cadre théorique pluridisciplinaire et une double démarche exploratoire (ego-écologique - Zavalloni, 2007), conduite auprès de sujets contrastés par leur expérience professionnelle. Nous pourrons ainsi observer la dynamique identitaire, ses composantes, ses relations, son contexte psychosocial, en faisant émerger les processus qui la sous-tendent. A l’heure des démarches compétences dans les organisations et de la personnalisation du travail, l’intégration du projet de soi (Kaddouri et Barbier, 2006) et du système capacitaire (Costalat-Founeau, 2009) comme fondements des dynamiques identitaires, ouvre de nouvelles perspectives à la compréhension des processus mis en œuvre dans la construction de soi et de réalisation de soi. Par voie de conséquence c’est la constitution du sujet de l’action qui est ici abordée. / Among all our activities, the work occupies a core place in our society and can not escape the profound social transformations. The career paths are not linear nor stable, they don’t introduce individuals in social categories as in the past. How individuals are built today? What is the impact of individualization on social and professional dynamics of identity in this context? This thesis is intended to deepen the question of the identity and its methods in a radically changing organizational context. I present a multi-pronged theoretical framework and a double exploratory approach (ego-ecological - Zavalloni, 2007), conducted with individuals opposed by their professional experience. We can thus observe the dynamics of identity, its components, its relationships, its psychosocial context, bringing out the processes that underlie it. At time of competencies management and personal work, the integration of the self-project (Kaddouri & Barbier, 2006) and the capabilities system (Costalat-Founeau, 2009), as the basis of identity dynamics, opens new perspectives for understanding the processes used in self-construction and self-realization. As a consequence it is the constitution of the subject of the action that is addressed here.

Les représentations sociales du politique: une analyse sémantique de l'idéologie nationale fédéraliste québécoise durant les deux périodes référendairesAndre, Morgane 10 1900 (has links)
Dans ce mémoire, nous proposons l’étude des représentations sociales du politique dans la presse quotidienne. Notre objet d’étude est le sens de la nation au Québec dans une période historique où la notion idéologique de nation s’avère un cadre de référence en profonde mutation dans de nombreuses sociétés. Plus particulièrement, nous voulons nous situer au centre des tensions à propos de la représentation sociale nationale en prenant comme observatoire un travail idéologique fédéraliste par des Québécois, qui à la fois se posent comme promoteurs de la nation, et visent une intégration dans un autre espace national et juridique : le Canada.
Les résultats de cette étude qualitative sont issus d’une analyse sémantique du discours éditorial du journal La Presse. Nous avons ainsi examiné les différentes catégories de connaissance mobilisées lors de l’évocation de l’espace national, ainsi que la façon dont elles sont organisées au sein du discours lors des deux périodes référendaires, soit en 1980 et 1995. C’est donc dans le cadre d’une sociologie de la connaissance journalistique que nous menons cette étude.
Le discours social, à partir de l’étude des théories des représentations sociales et de la sociologie des contenus médiatiques, ne peut se considérer qu’à travers l’ensemble des relations sociales dont il est le produit.
Nous nous attachons ici à définir d’une part les spécificités du discours éditorial, et d’autre part les différentes catégories de connaissances utilisées dans notre corpus qui font sens. On perçoit alors, grâce à une description diachronique, l’évolution des représentations sociales ayant a trait à l’espace national québécois entre les deux périodes étudiées. Après avoir défini ce dont on parle lorsqu’il est question de l’espace national, nous nous emploierons à analyser la façon dont ce discours est organisé. Ainsi, nous mettons en avant d’une part, les différentes formes discursives, rhétoriques et argumentatives, mises en place dans le but de persuader et de justifier l’action (le rejet des deux référendums, et l’adhésion aux promesses de renouvellement du fédéralisme), et d’autre part la logique discursive mobilisée consistant à placer la nation comme un objet politique rationnel ou non. En effet, le discours éditorial nous permet de mettre au jour une organisation cognitive de la connaissance, qui à quelques nuances près, est structurée de façon manichéenne entre le rationnel (l’éditorialiste, le fédéralisme, l’économique, l’universalisme, la raison de sens commun) et l’irrationnel (le souverainisme, ses dirigeants n’étant que des rêveurs et des passionnés), se plaçant dès lors dans un rapport de communication politique, plus proche de la propagande que de l’exemplarité réflexive que pose le discours éditorial. / In this paper we will look at socio-political roles in the daily media. The objective of this study is to understand the meaning of national space in Quebec during a historical period of transformation that was taking place in numerous societies. More specifically, we aim to examine the conflict at the heart of the nation’s social role, from the perspective of an ideological federalist work by the Quebecois, who see themselves as promoters of their nation while simultaneously integrated in Canada’s national jurisdiction.
The results of this qualitative study come from a semantic analysis of editorial articles from the newspaper La Presse. We have analyzed the different categories of information made available while the national space movement was taking place, as well as how they were organized around views during two referendums in 1980 and 1995. This study is therefore created in a context of socio-journalistic information.
The social view points, derived from the study of social roles and sociology in the media, can only be considered in the context of the network of social relationships of which they are a product.
Here we are trying to define the meaning of the specifications in editorial views, as well as the various areas of knowledge used in this text. Thanks to a diachronic description we can look at the evolution of social roles within Quebec’s national space between the two periods of time studied. Once we’ve defined our subject concerning national space, we will then analyze the way in which the views are structured. Through this process of identifying the different types of view; rhetorical and argumentative, created to persuade and justify the action (the rejection of the two referendums, and the adhesion to promises of renewed federalism), and the logic of the views used to show the nation as a rational political focus or not.
Definitively, the editorial views help us to shed light on the cognitive organization of knowledge, which is almost mechanically structured between the rational (editorialism, federalism, economics, universalism, accepted social thinking) and the irrational (souverainism, having only dreamers and idealists as leaders), situated, since then, in a political debate more resembling propaganda than an admirable initiative proposed by editorial views.

The topic of this master thesis is F. V. Krejci's literary criticism. It analyses not only his approach to literary criticism as presented in his major as well as minor texts, but also his own output in the Rozhledy revue, presumably the best representative of modern literary-critical tendencies of the 1890s. The Rozhledy revue and F. V. Krejci's literary- critical output (including his monographs) both help us understand the literature of the second half of 19th century with its diversities as well as the way how the young generation of literary critics used to form their methodological aspects. The body of this master thesis is created by the complete and annotated bibliography of F. V. Krejci's texts published in Rozhledy. The research was based on both - the detailed study and analysis of the main sources and the author bibliography provided by the Institute of Czech Literature AS CR. In Rozhledy, F. V. Krejci published various political and literary articles. He also reviewed a few books. In his reviews, he usually wrote a non-detailed foreword and introduction. After that, he commented on a few aspects of the particular book. Para isso, apresento seu perfil profissional, como também os programas de acessibilidade e instituições culturais nos quais eles atuam. Exponho as propostas educativas em Libras (Língua Brasileira de Sinais) que são realizadas no atendimento da comunidade surda nesses ambientes culturais, bem como defendo a presença de uma proposta bilíngue e bicultural que seja norteadora na formação e atuação de tais educadores. Nesse sentido, proponho um olhar baseado na visão socioantropológica da surdez, que vê o ser surdo como uma pessoa que possui cultura e identidade cultural própria, devendo, portanto, ser incluído na sociedade por essa diferença linguística. / The purpose of this master\'s thesis is to present the professional training of deaf educators who work in cultural accessibility programs in three museums in São Paulo city: Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, Museu de Arte Moderna and Museu Afro Brasil. For this, I present the educators\' professional profile, as well as the accessibility programs and cultural institutions where they work. In addition, I present the educational proposals in Brazilian Sign Language - \"Libras\" that are performed with deaf community in these cultural institutions, and I also advocate for the use of a bilingual and bicultural proposal to guide the professional training and practice of these educators. In this sense, I propose looking at deafness by a social and anthropological point of view that sees deaf people like someone who has his/her own culture and cultural identity, and that should be included in society by means of this linguistic difference.

This theoretic-empiric thesis concerns the transformation of parent's leisure time taking parental leave, analyzes the leisure time of parents who decided to stay at home with children. Thesis focuses on factors most affecting the leisure time and primarily look on effect coming from change of social role itself. Additionally brings research of parent's leisure activities and the effect of change of leisure behavior on other areas of family life during the parental leave. Research tries to expose signification of the leisure time in this critical family time period as well as effect on parents through the parental leave. The theoretical base was created with collecting sources concerning leisure time area, social role change, parental leave and its application on particular field of leisure time change. Results of thesis coming from qualitative research based on qualitative analysis of a couple deeper dialogs moderated according to research strategy - methods anchored theory and application on contemporary knowledge.

researches, aims to clarify issues regarding the necessity of considering the
social role as a condition when pleading ownership and possession matters in
court; that is to say, the necessity of a previous verification, made by the
Judiciary, regarding the fulfillment of the social role both on ownership and
possession, inside repossession and vindicatory suits, as a prerequisite for any
judgments over any of these matters.
For this purpose, a specific study has been prepared, covering the
historical evolution of the ownership and possession concepts is the West, as
well as how the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988 and the Civil Code
handle both of these characters, intending to demonstrate that any judgments
regarding ownership and possession depend on complying with the social role,
as, considering the wide array of rules which regulate the topic, the so-called
social possession should prevail over any possession or ownership that does
