En andra chans : En kvalitativ litteraturöversikt om patienters upplevelser av att överleva ett hjärtstopp / A second chance : A qualitative literature review of patients' experiences of surviving a cardiac arrestOlsson, Emmy, Svensson, Molly January 2022 (has links)
Background: In Sweden and around the world, many people suffer from a sudden cardiac arrest. As statistics shows that the survival is improving, more people will experience the difficult everyday life after a cardiac arrest. In the aftermath, there is a risk that the everyday life is fraught with many thoughts and feelings that affect the survivor’s life. Aim: The aim of the literature review was to study patients' experiences of surviving a cardiac arrest.Method: The literature review consisted of qualitative analysed studies and was based on an inductive approach. Fourteen articles were approved based on a quality protocol and selected for the result. During the analysis, three main categories and six subcategories emerged. Results: The literature review resulted in different descriptions of patients' experiences of surviving a cardiac arrest. Feelings of gratitude, change and existential thoughts were dominant, and it turned out that people wanted to see a meaning and gain an understanding of what had happened. Conclusions: As more people survive a cardiac arrest, the need for support increases in dealing with their thoughts and feelings in the aftermath, as this turned out to be a big part of people’s everyday lives. With good knowledge of how these feel afterwards, nurses can support them in seeking meaning and coherence in their changed everyday lives.

Maintenance of the surviving spouse in South Africa : the challenges faced by the executorWilliams, Ronel Anneli 02 1900 (has links)
The Maintenance of Surviving Spouses Act 27 of 1990 came into operation thirty years ago and has remained relatively unchanged since its promulgation. The stated objective of the Act is to provide the surviving spouse with a claim for maintenance against the estate of the deceased spouse in certain circumstances. This objective is sound, as it is evident from an analysis of the history of our law that legislation was needed to address the financial position of a survivor following the death of his or her spouse. The practical application of the Act is, however, not as robust as it does not always achieve the stated objective and often leads to unintended consequences.
This research has a dual objective. The first aim is to analyse the practical considerations when an executor applies the Act and to consider the challenges the executor must deal with when considering a maintenance claim under the Act. The second aim is to investigate possible solutions to these challenges and to consider whether there are viable alternative arrangements for the way in which a maintenance claim under the Act is handled.
The purpose of the study is to formulate a comprehensive recommendation for legislative reform of the Act so that the practical application of the Act achieves a result that reflects the objective of the Act. / Private Law / LL.D.

Kvalita života dětí po onkologické léčbě / Quality of life of children after oncological treatmentLUNDÁKOVÁ, Magdaléna January 2019 (has links)
Cancer in childhood age comprises less than 1% of all diagnosed cancer cases. But is significant, because the childhood cancer is second in mortality, just after accidents. A theoretical part of the study characterizes childhood cancer and its treatment and introduces the term "quality of life". Two goals are set in this work. The first objective is to map the "quality of life" in cancer survivals. The second objective is to analyze how "the attitude towards life" is changed after cancer treatment and whether it differs from healthy children. In this thesis, a quantitative research was used. The standardized SF - 36 questionnaire "on quality of life conditioned by health" and the socio - demographic questionnaire WP 6 - socio - demographic data were used. Three hypotheses were established. H1: "Childhood cancer survivals appreciate their health more than children who did not go through any cancer treatment." H2: "Childhood cancer survivals suffer from cognitive disabilities in comparison to children who did not go through cancer treatment." H3: "Childhood cancer survivals have a more positive relationship to themselves than children who did not go through cancer treatment." The results of this research reveal that young cancer survivors have a similar quality of life as their healthy peers. This thesis should approach the quality of life of children after cancer treatment. The study will be presented at a Professional conference.

Návrh rekonstrukce historického Beaufortského alpina v Bečově nad Teplou (Karlovarsko) / Proposal for reconstruction of the historic Beaufort rock garden in the Bečov nad Teplou town (district Karlovy Vary)ŠPAKOVÁ, Markéta January 2012 (has links)
This thesis will build upon my undergraduate dissertation. It is enriched by the new information about the original historic Beaufort rock garden. It explores the Beaufort rock garden and includes points of view of the experts on its condition today. The following part of the thesis comprises of a proposal for a renewal of the current Bečov botanical garden framework and of a more detailed focus on few selected rocks and their initial planting. The main contribution of this work is an expansion of the total number of the initially grown plants (from 654 to 1228) thanks to the newly found resources and to the writing down all the newly discovered information from the archival research of the original historical documents dated from 1908 to 1937. All the documents were catalogued by the author of the original concept alpina, the head gardener Johann Koditek. What we do know from the original documentation is how the area expanded between the years 1922 - 1927 with the purchase of the surrounding land. It is clear that the expenses for the land were about 18 098,31crowns and for various works, building construction, plants, materials and wages the total sum was 468 336.07 crowns. The exact mounting plans for landscape park were rediscovered (10 plans and inventories in total) and 16 plans and inventories in total of 47 for the rock garden. The chart with the total number of the originally cultivated taxa also consists of the surviving taxa in the area (22 specific herb species + 43 specific tree species and 12 tree genera). The synonymy of the original plants was created for three selected rocks and surveyed their purchase options today. Most of the taxa will return back to the garden, only rock no. 8 will have to be planted differently due to the lack of light on the original plants. Keywords: origin

Recherche sur les instruments de contournement de la réserve héréditaire des descendants / Survey of the circumvention instruments of the hereditary reserve of descendantsKson-Bouvet, Anna-Gaëlle 21 November 2018 (has links)
At a time when the modern family is conceived in the plural, at a time when ascendants organize upstream transmission and devolution of their heritage, at a time when globalization advocates the standardization of law and the end of specificities States, it is necessary to question the future of the hereditary reserve. Parents no longer wish to be deprived of their power to freely dispose of their patrimony, even for reasons of death. What to answer to a father who is anxious about seeing his heritage squandered by an ungrateful child with whom he lives only conflicts ? What to say to this child who saw his brother favored by maternal decision, in an abusive and arbitrary way ? What advice can be given to those individuals who open the door of our offices every day to ask the help of their notary ? What to say to this husband who wants to protect his spouse from the angry of children from a first bed ? In order to answer them in practice, let us study ways of circumventing this hereditary reserve. Let's focus on checking their effectiveness. Beyond the classical mechanisms of the Civil Code such as the will and the gift, the interest of this thesis is to turn to more complex mechanisms, in order to answer the parents disappointed by their offspring, but also to them, children wronged to give them legal means to counter unfair deprivation. It is useful to understand and know what can be done to transmit one's heritage with a recovered freedom without risking the wrath of the law. Through the study of these instruments, their efficiency and their legal and family treatment, the question of the modernization of the reserve resurfaces. The family changes, and with it, the traditional conception of the hereditary reserve.

The stigma of suicide survivorship and related consequences: a systematic reviewHanschmidt, Franz, Lehnig, Franziska, Riedel-Heller, Steffi G., Kersting, Anette January 2016 (has links)
Background: Cconsiderable proportion of the population experiences major life disruptions after losing a loved one to suicide. Social stigma attached to suicide survivors adds to complications occurring in the course of suicide bereavement. Despite its known risks, stigma related to suicide survivors has been sparsely investigated. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature search in PubMed, Web of Science, PsycInfo and PsyArticles, of studies indexed up through August 2015. Articles were eligible for inclusion if they addressed experiences of stigma in suicide survivors, compared them to other bereavement populations, or investigated stigmatizing attitudes within the public. The
search was restricted to English-language studies. Results: 25 records matched inclusion criteria. Study designs were heterogeneous, making comparisons difficult. Results demonstrated that suicide survivors experience stigma in the form of shame, blame, and avoidance. Suicide survivors showed higher levels of stigma than natural death survivors. Stigma was linked to concealment of the death, social withdrawal, reduced psychological and somatic functioning, and grief difficulties. Only one study investigated stigmatizing attitudes towards suicide survivors among the general population. Limitations: Internal and external validity of the studies was restricted by a lack of valid measures and selection bias. Conclusions: More methodologically sound research is needed to understand the impact of stigma on
suicide survivors\'' grief trajectories and to separate it from other grief aspects. Clinicians and grief-counselors as well as the public should be educated about the persistent stigma experienced by suicide survivors.

Forgiveness through the dialogical self : a qualitative track of self-identity reconstruction among surviving HIV-positive spouses in Gwanda South constituencyMaphosa, Sibangilizwe 12 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore the nature of changes that take place in surviving HIVpositive spouses’ explanations of themselves in relation to their acquired positive status, and in
relation to the role that forgiveness may play, all through Hermans’ theory of dialogical self in
the self-identity reconstruction process. The interpretive qualitative paradigm was used, along
with a phenomenological research design. Research was carried out in a rural area of Gwanda
South Constituency in Zimbabwe. Homogenous purposive sampling was used to select five HIVpositive widows and five HIV-positive widowers. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were used
and thematic, narrative and interpretive phenomenological analyses were employed to analyse
the data. The results showed that the surviving HIV-positive spouses faced a plethora of
challenges following the deaths of their partners. Identified key relations to the reconstruction of
a new self were found to be: a good knowledge of HIV; being at peace with the past self;
forgiveness of self; and reconciliation with what has happened. These were found to be good
ingredients for quick recovery and self-identity reconstruction. Significant others play an
important role in self-identity reconstruction as they offer an environment that is supportive of
HIV disclosure, thereby reducing the occurrence of stigma and discrimination. The study
recommends that HIV activists and all education systems that are involved in the HIV campaigns
in Gwanda South Constituency incorporate teachings about and awareness of forgiveness,
reconciliation, stigma and discrimination at all levels of their education efforts and campaigns. / Psychology / D. Litt. et Phil. (Psychology)

Previous issue date: 2008-11-28 / The present study is intended to critically approach collation, a principle of descent law with strong practical application, which, in general, is object of superficial and contradictory analysis, by virtue of own legal provisions governing the matter. Special attention is to be given to the polemic aspects, arising out of 2002 Civil Code provisions. Therefore, six major themes are analyzed. Initially, descent law origin and legal basis are presented, as well as collation historical evolution, indicating its definition and legal basis. Then, it deals with collation subjective aspect, approaching the most relevant quests in regard to heirs who are compelled to collate according to Brazilian legal system. The third theme reports to the objective aspect, concerning assets identification which, donated to heirs whilst deceased was still alive, arise the need of collation, or not. Analysis on how to effect collation and the amount of donated asset to be taken into consideration are presented right after as the fourth theme. The theme before last approaches concept and legal basis of inheritance share of one's parents and calculation of collation assumptions, collation dismissal and unofficial decrease.
