Digitization enables new digital technology, which has a central role in today's operations. Digital technology within the school environment enables both increased learning and new types of teaching. Teachers today work in a digital workplace where the school has had to adapt to digital technology. The digital workplace means new ways of working, increased communication opportunities and a changed infrastructure. The introduction of new digital technology in the school environment poses challenges for teachers. The conditions for work are changing and research shows that it is difficult for teachers to keep up with developments. When individuals are unable to adapt to new digital technology and the changes that technology entails, technostress is experienced. Technostress is experienced in the form of overload, invasion, insecurity and uncertainty. Technostress is becoming more common and today there are limited insights into what relieves teachers' technostress. The study aims to investigate how organizations prevent perceived technostress in the digital workplace that may arise during the digital transformation. With the help of a systematic literature search, a deeper understanding of the subject was obtained, followed by a thematic analysis which allowed us to identify, analyze and discover recurring patterns of how technostress is handled in teachers' digital workplace. Consequently, it was also identified how teachers experience technostress to describe which experiences the coping strategies are based on. The themes identified are: setting boundaries, peer support, operational support, developing digital skills and individual coping strategies. These five themes create an understanding of how technostress can be managed in teachers' digital workplace. The study indicates that teachers' experiences regarding technostress differ from each other, thus the need for coping strategies is also different. The study indicates that there is no single solution for preventing and managing technostress, both the individual and the organization needs to get involved.

Parents' perception of technology in a Swedish kindergarten and technostress amongst preschool teachersTemelkov, Vasil January 2019 (has links)
The new changes in the Swedish curriculum for the educational system demand more digitalization in the kindergartens. However previous studies have shown that the current level of handling technology amongst preschool teachers in Swedish kindergarten is low and may create difficulties in their work. This thesis investigates a kindergarten that wants to implement a mobile app for more transparent and effective communication between preschool teachers and parents. The aims are to highlight the common perceptions and expectations from a parental point of view concerning a mobile app for communication while establishing if the preschool teachers experience technostress at their work. The data were gathered from conducting interviews and one online survey. The main finding of this study was that preschool teachers and parents should be more involved in the process of finding a suitable mobile app so they would be motivated to contribute to better daily communication. This study suggests that the most important strategies for implementing a mobile app for communication are to inform, educate and involve all the concerned parties.

Mitigation Strategies of Technostress on Supply Chain ManagementPenn, Robert Lewis 01 January 2016 (has links)
Logistics managers work to create practices that reduce technostress, which is associated with diminished productivity in supply chain management. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore the mitigation strategies that logistics managers at distribution centers used to reduce technostress with their employees in the Los Angeles County, California area. The conceptual framework included in this study was the sociotechnical systems theory. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 6 logistics managers from large distribution centers who implemented mitigation strategies that demonstrably reduced technostress with their employees. Public documents and physical artifacts reviewed in this study included productivity assessment tools, information and communication technology system training materials, technostress mitigation instruments, and information from technological devices. Data were analyzed through a process of pattern matching, cross-case synthesis, and systematic text condensation. The findings included 6 themes: reliance on internal information technology experts; hiring temporary experts; maintaining communication and training; using time management skills and organizing priorities; identification and understanding of employee differences; and implementing well-being, fitness, and health programs. These findings could contribute to positive social change by providing logistics managers with strategies to reduce technostress, which could lead to improved employee well-being, better work conditions, and increased productivity for greater company profitability that could produce a more thriving and prosperous community.

Vývoj organizačního chování vlivem ICT / DEVELOPMENT OF AN ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR IN CAUSED BY ICTTichý, Ondřej January 2013 (has links)
The thesis covers a research into the relationship between the Czech organizations and employees and modern information and communication technologies (abbreviated as ICT). From the perspective of organizations, the research focuses on the specific technologies that have been implemented in recent years. How have the technologies been proved and whether they managed to influence an organizational structure of companies. The research is also interested in the impact of these technologies on employees, especially on their productivity. The research, carried out between foreign articles, showed that in countries such as China or USA people suffered from a technostress. The technostess could be described as a stress induced by these technologies. Then, the technostress has a negative impact to the mentioned labor productivity. The introductory part of the text contains secondary research, which focuses on two basic topics. The first part concerns the description of an organization. It indicates what that organization is, and yet the historical opinions on the organizations are also described here. Furthermore, there is described the term like an organizational behavior and its integration into the functioning of the organization. Followed by a section, which defines the position of the individual within the organization. The next section contains a description of the organizational structures. The second basic topic within the secondary research describes ICT. But there is not described a technical specification, there is a description of their importance to the organization, including the relationship of employees of organizations to these technologies. The second half of this dissertation thesis contains two primary researches that are built on the previous theoretical part. Its objectives are: 1) the creation of a model which would includes ICT and also shows the ICT’s impact on a company; 2) to develop a methodology for determining the benefits of ICT to the company and to set them on the basis of the results of the research carried out in this thesis; 3) to identify the latest trends in the implementation of ICT in organizations in the ICT sector in the Czech Republic; 4) to determine whether the current organizational structures of the examined companies are affected by ICT; 5) to ascertain whether the modern ICT affect Czech employees in a negative way, so that caused their lower productivity; and 6) make some recommendations regarding the implementation of ICT for other companies in the Czech Republic. The result of the thesis is the synthesis of knowledge acquired on the basis of the analytical part. During the data collection the inductive and deductive methods were used and the both studies yielded the following conclusions. The employees who use these technologies, do not mostly suffer from the technostress, despite the fact that there was proved a weak dependence between the technostress and a lower labor productivity by the statistical test. The research into the organization also showed that larger Czech companies from the ICT sector tend to focus on the short-term benefits within acquisition of the new ICT. The examined link between the ICT and organizational structures of companies was not demonstrated. The further evaluation showed that the companies mostly acquired software, which was specially developed for them. Finally, it can be considered as a trend in the acquisition of the new ICT to the Czech organizations.

Individual and Work-Related Predictors of Exhaustion in East and West GermanyBraunheim, Lisa, Otten, Daniëlle, Kasinger, Christoph, Brähler, Elmar, Beutel, Manfred E. 07 March 2024 (has links)
Chronic exhaustion is a consequence of detrimental working conditions and demands, as
well as inadequate coping techniques, potentially resulting in burnout. Previous research has studied
occupational environment and individual factors as predictors of exhaustion. Although these differ
between former East and West German states, the regional distinction regarding exhaustion has been
neglected. To fill this gap, we used the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory in a representative German
sample from 2014 to assess the burnout symptom exhaustion. Estimating ordinary least squares
regressions, important burnout predictors were compared between the former East and West German
states. Regional differences concerning occupational environments were related to the associations
between individual factors, situational aspects of technostress and exhaustion. Associations between
individual factors (e.g., female sex, lower working hours, age, partnership status, and household
income) and exhaustion were stronger in East Germany, whereas technostress (strain of internet
use, number of e-mails during leisure time, and social pressure to be constantly available) was more
strongly associated with exhaustion in West Germany. Despite lower financial gratification and
a higher social pressure to be constantly available in the East, West Germans were more afflicted
by exhaustion. Individual factors and technostress should thus be considered when focusing on
job-related mental health issues.

Arbetsterapeuters förekomst av teknikstress utifrån olika åldrar / Occupational therapists' occurrence of technology stress based on different agesAndersson, Jessica, Forss, Anton January 2024 (has links)
Aim: The purpose of the study was to investigate and describe the presence of technostress in the work of practicing occupational therapists and whether there are differences based on age. Method: A quantitative method and a web-based survey were used for data collection. The survey was based on the Swedish translation of the questionnaire Technostress consisting of five categories; Techno-overload, Techno-invasion, Techno-complexity, Techno-insecurity and Techno-uncertainty. The survey was distributed through the Swedish Facebook group “Occupational therapists on facebook”. When analyzing the statements, the participants’ median was compiled on all statements to describe each category. Chi-squared test was used when comparing the age groups within statements and categories. Results: A total of 131 occupational therapists participated in the study who had worked for more than one year at their current workplace. The result showed that there was a presence of technostress within the categories Techno-overload, Techno-complexity and Techno-uncertainty. Most of the participants reported no technostress related to the categories Techno-invasion and Techno-insecurity. There was a significant difference between the age groups 22-40 years and 41+ years in the category Techno-complexity and all related statements. A significant difference also occurred on statements 2 and 5 within the category Techno-overload. Conclusion: The study showed that a large part of the occupational therapists demonstrated technostress in relation to workload and frequent change of technology at the workplace. For the majority of the occupational therapists the technology had no impact on their leisure time or employment. The biggest difference between the occupational therapists’ ages occurred in the category Techno-complexity. Opportunities of training and education in the use of ICT can support occupational therapists in their work.
