Approaching the journey of digital transformation in public sector culturalorganisationsJohansson, Corinne January 2022 (has links)
The public cultural sector in Sweden has been facing the challenges of digitalization over the last decade. The Swedish government has over these past years introduced various strategies and visions for taking advantage of the opportunities that digitalization provides. Due to the implications of the pandemic, many public cultural sector organisations were forced to go through some form of rapid digitalization. However, it is not known how these rapid digital efforts will affect the public cultural sector going forward. Digitalization is not a one-time event, a change in organisational strategy, processes and culture need to happen for digital transformation to occur. The case study of Malmö Opera examines the digitizing activities between 2017 - 2022 in the context of digital transformation. The results of the study showed that although digital efforts had been made prior to the pandemic, a rapid period of digitization occurred during the pandemic years. During 2020 and 2021 the organization took substantial strides in digital progress speed up by the impacts of the pandemic. After the restrictions lifted, digital developments in Malmö Opera were at a slow down due to a lack of dedicated recourses that had be available during the pandemic. The findings of this theses suggests that digital transformation is one way to face the challenges that digitalisation provides. By applying a framework or process for the digital transformation journey this provides a tool for decision makers for how to approach digital transformation on an organisational level.

Understanding the link between identification and collective competence in an inter-organizational group : a comparative case study in the cultural sector in BrittanyMammar El Hadj, Sihem 27 November 2017 (has links)
This thesis looks at the way different organizations are involved in inter-organizational relations (IOR), with a focus on the cultural sector. In the context of meta-organizations, the aim of this research is to better understand how the internal processes in inter-organizational groups take place by analysing the relationships between individuals within those groups. In so doing, we hope to improve their chances of success. To analyse these relationships, we introduce the concept of inter-organizational identification and that of collective competence. We believe that these two concepts can provide us with a better understanding of the success, stagnation or failure of meta-organizations. This doctoral research will demonstrate that it is necessary to develop collective competence, i.e. competence at the level of the inter-organizational working group in the long term, in order to ensure the success of IOR. It will also reveal that inter-organizational identification plays a crucial role in this process. Based on an explanatory comparative case study in the cultural sector, a model is proposed with which to understand the link between the emergence of identification and collective competence and to highlight the management approaches that can be used to improve inter-organizational relations.

Veřejné a soukromé financování kultury / Public and private financing of CultureIanchenko, Valeriia January 2015 (has links)
The Diploma thesis is devoted to the problems of financing culture focusing on the private and public support. The Theoretical part defines the basic theoretical concepts and the principle of functioning of the state contributory organizations in Czech Republic and characterizes the basic sources of financing of the Culture, covering public direct financial support (e.g. subsidies) and indirect support (tax expenditures), private financial support from profit and non-profit organizations and financing from EEA grants. The Practical part is focused on the quantitative analysis of the financial resources to the Culture and its development in time and measures the financial self-sufficiency of the organizations and the possibility of obtaining additional financial and other support through the private sector. It can be approbate that the financial self-sufficiency differs between the semi-budgetary organizations significantly, as well between sectors. However, the financial self-sufficiency of the cultural sector as a whole shows a positive trend.

Discrimination Against Employees With a Migration Background in the German Museum Sector Related to Hiring and PromotionZafer, Moutaz 31 January 2024 (has links)
This research aims to understand the reasons behind the underrepresentation of people with a migratory background in the museum sector despite all diversity initiatives, and also aims to determine whether discrimination plays any role in this underrepresentation. The research question was approached through the lens of the distribution of rewards research theory by Rodolfo Alvarez (1979). Qualitative research methods were selected with the interview as a method of data collection. Interviews were conducted with museum managers and employees with a migratory background. The data was evaluated using the qualitative content analysis by Philip Mayring (2010). The main finding of this research is that people with a migratory background (PMBs), especially those who are first-generation, are more numerous in positions such as security and cleaning staff or in project positions without strategic importance. Their existence in the higher levels of the professional hierarchy is very limited. The study shows that several factors hinder people with a migratory background from being hired, including lacking an academic degree, experience in museums and language competency

This research deals with the origins and architectural projects of the Cultural Sector of Brasília and pursues to understand the antagonisms and similarities between the Pilot Plan conducted by Lucio Costa and the various proposals made by the architect Oscar Niemeyer and other architects to the site, many of them built and consolidated. The Esplanade of Ministries in Brasilia is the most representative site of the urbanism and architecture of the city and fifty-‐three years after the foundation of the capital, the Cultural Sector is the only part of the Esplanade that has not yet completely implemented. This situation associated with the legally protection of the urban site of Brasilia sanctioned in 1991 and the decree number 314/92 establishing exclusivity of architectural intervention to the two authors of Brasilia signs the concern among architects, citizens and government to conciliate the purposes of Costa and Niemeyer. Despite the positive reference of both architects about progressive urbanism model in the idealization of the urban plan of Brasília and even a consensus and maturation of concepts and critiques of modern urbanism, associated with a respectful attitude towards the architectural precedents, there are explicit contradictions between projects executed by Oscar Niemeyer and the pilot plan designed by Lucio Costa that leave until today many unfinished projects and controversial discussions about the sector. The understanding of this process development results in the critical analysis of architectural projects confronted to the Pilot Plan of Lucio Costa and its historical precedents, beyond the inventory organization of the Cultural Sector projects.

Möjligheter och utmaningar med digitala verktyg : En fallstudie om hur museer i nutid och i framtid samverkar med digitala verktyg / Opportunities and challenges with digital tools : A case study of how museums today and in the future interact with digital toolsIgefjord, Hanna, Widman, Annie January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to contribute to an increased understanding of how Malmö konstmuseum, Moderna museet, Malmö konsthall and Malmö Museer use digital tools on site and on their website. The study will look at the factors that affect how, and why digital tools are used, as well as what the future vision for digital tools looks like. The study method is based on semi-structured interviews with the communicators from each museum and on systematic observations of the four museums' websites. The material has then been processed using qualitative content analysis. Based on analysis and discussion of the study's results and theory, the conclusions are summarized that the different uses of digital tools in all museums are affected by factors such as economic resources and lack of digital competence. Also, each museum's attitude to digital tools. Furthermore, covid-19 has accelerated the digital transition and digitalization has been given higher priority at each institution. It is concluded that each museum will invest more in digital tools in the future to inform and communicate to the visitor in a more adapted and entertaining way.
