Vlastní próza s autorským komentářem / Personal prose with an authorial commentary

Hereinová, Olga January 2011 (has links)
RESUME The thesis 'Personal prose with an authorial commentary' consists of two parts. The first part is the authorial prose. The prose is titled The Subject: This is a novel in emails describing a partnership triangle. Jirka responds to Danka's advertisement on an Internet dating site looking for a pen pal. Although both of them are living with a partner their pen friendship grows into a love afair. The relationship and intimacy of characters are revealed through the correspondence of other people. Not only does Jirka correspond with Karel, his friend, but also his girlfriend confides Jirka's behavior to her friend Šárka. Jirka gets himself into a difficult position between two women. They then resolve the situation for him - both abandon him. In the second part of the thesis - reflection - the circumstances of the work's origin are discussed and particular aspects of the novel are reflected. In addition to the plot construction, character configuration and their characteristics the main focus is on the meaning of the work, and due to which the work's conclusion and the title have suffered. Coping with the form of emails, which is used in the novel, is also taken into consideration and the inclusion of the text into the genre of women's literature. The inability to cross autobiographical borders and...

The impacts of the job contract rupture on the professional identity of the executive are also highlighted, as well as the difficulties in organizing day-to-day routines due to the loss of business routine. Conclusions are that to overcome the dependency link with the organization, executives should be aware of the mechanisms present in the relation and the impacts generated by unbalanced connections and base themselves in developing a more complete identity seeking for realization on what they care for / Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa acerca da relação do executivo com a organização.

The topic, meaning of work, has been studied by several Brazilian and international authors because of the important transformations that have been occurring inside the labor world where new forms of organizations emerge and they are subjected to the changes in its nature. In the light of this, it is relevant to understand the meaning which the contemporary workers give to their work, mostly if it is considered that those workers develop their productive activity inside companies which present some peculiar aspects in a capitalistic context. In other words, these companies seek an alternative to the current administrative model found in the majority of them, which offers an economic working style with the characteristics of gratuitousness, the open-mindedness in relation to others, the fellowship, despite the fact of working mostly in profitable sectors of the economy. Such companies are known as participant companies of the communion economy proposal. This proposal intends to offer an answer to the extreme poverty drama of the population that is deprived of the most essential human rights. It consists in a struggle of the integration between the companies administration and the principles underlain on a religious basis in order to change the dominant economic model. Therefore, this should not be understood as a simple case of philanthropy or profit sharing. Such being the case this research seeks to investigate what is the meaning given by the employees and the owners of the communion economy companies for the work they do. In order to reveal which are these meanings, it has been analysed based on Methodology of Content Analysis, and it had been done interviews with 36 employees, 2 executives e the owners of each company, in a total amount of 40 interviews. It had been accomplished a study of two cases and the research data collection was done with semi-organized interviews. The analysis of the interviews allows to say that the work is considered a fundamental part for the lives of the interviewees and it has a great meaning for them, similarly with the results of other researches. Nevertheless, it was possible to observe in relation to the communion economy companies that they help this meaning of work with aspects that are found in personal matters, such as: the appreciation of the person inside the work environment, the granted autonomy to accomplish the tasks and mainly, the interpersonal relationship developed inside the enterprise. Therefore, it is seen that the communion economy companies contribute to the relationship and the appreciation of the people inside them.

The current status of adoption and use of Information and Communication Technologies by organizations and individuals, showed an increase of the incorporation of technological devices that have the potential to change the spatial and temporal characteristics of the work, increasing worker mobility. Considering the fact that the individual to move, while moving through space, remodeling or attach your personal identity, professional, cultural, social or political from the mobility, the ultimate goal of this research was to reflect on that how the positive and negative impacts generated by the intense geographic mobility demanded by the profession, teachers are perceived by workers of a post-graduation courses in Business Administration moving from one territory to another (s), in order to exercise their teaching activities. Was performed for both a literature review concerning the meaning of work, presenting the following are some reflections on the changes in labor relations as a result of mutations in the workplace, addressing, finally, the theme Mobility of the workforce. After this step, we sought to understand the perspective of teaching workers through personal interviews analyzed in the light of the method of content analysis, the paths taken by them and meanings attributed to these experiences, seeking to understand how teaching workers highlighted represent the look on himself and others, to show the significance (positive and negative) of spatial mobility, daily practices and strategies of socialization and interaction with, and at the destination. It can be concluded that, although there are some factors that can make the constant spatial displacement of these workers a negative element to them, since they are sources of high demand physical and mental, of stress, overload, emotional stress, fatigue, anxiety, discouragement, frustration and dissatisfaction with the work, leading them to the constant removal of the social context and may result in serious consequences for the health of the worker. These constant shifts geographical become, however, a positive element, since the increase to allow their teaching practices through the experiences enriched by contacts, by learning acquired and the skills acquired in multicultural relationships, becoming space for self-fulfillment, social inclusion and recognition, prestige, status and sense of usefulness.

Activités d'élaboration de normes et de contenus de formations professionnelles dans le champ aéronautique : rôle de l'hétérogénéité des décideurs, du sens du travail et des dynamiques de délibérations collectives / Norms and training contents elaboration process in the aeronautic sector : role of actors’ heterogeneity, of meaning of work and of collective deliberations dynamics

Piques, Marie 20 December 2013 (has links)
In the current context of evolution and transformation of work, our research attempts to understand and explain how professional actors (individual and collective), engaged in the definition of policies and practices of aeronautic vocational trainings, come to an agreement, collectively, on standards and contents of training programs. This research confronts processes of collective deliberations of two professional groups (one of national size and the other of local size) which have to define new programs and norms concerning qualifying technical trainings. Members of these groups (27 and 20 subjects) represent companies, trainers or managers of technical schools (private or public), competent ministries, individual figures recognized in the aeronautic field. At a methodological level, in a comprehensive exploratory approach, we have systematically observed and analyzed meetings of these two groups during one year as well as the speeches that come out from meetings. We made and analyzed semi-structured interviews and questionnaires we had built. In a systemic, active and plural approach of socialization, the interstructuration model of subject and institutions we refer to (Baubion-Broye & Haijar, 1998), considers that subject builds his activities all along his life and in interaction with other people. Our results show, on one hand that, generally, decision-makers arrive on a conclusion and a decision thanks to “apparent consensus”. On the other hand our study proves there is a link between the evident expression of coalitions and the consensus degree. Interpersonal relations change over time.

Conduites de socialisation organisationnelle des jeunes diplômées vietnamiennes : rôle de l'autoreprésentation des rôles des femmes, des attentes de rôles professionnels perçues de la part des employeurs et du sens du travail / Behaviors of organizational socialization of Vietnamese young graduated women : role of auto-representation of women, of perceived professional expectations from employers, and of meaning of work

Bùi, Thị Hồng Thái 21 December 2012 (has links)
This research is in the field of social psychology of work and organizations. It is interested in behavior organizational socialization of graduated Vietnamese young women. Adopting a systemic and constructivist approach, we think each person at work is « an active subject because plural and prospective » in his process of socialization and personalization. In an exploring view, we try to show that the socialization behaviours of young Vietnamese graduated are not only determined by their socio-biographical characteristics and their organizational contexts but also oriented by their psychological activity of meaning of work. After an exploratory investigation by interview, an extensive survey with questionnaire allowed us to inquire 435 young women graduates, from Master of Arts level, in a multiplicity of work spheres. First, the analysis of the results, allows establishing a typology of young Vietnamese graduates. The socio-biographical characteristics of the 4 classes are in significant relationships with the various behaviours of organizational socialization. When analyzing those first results, it seems that socio-economic and cultural context in the transition of labour and employment in Vietnam, stay a « collective determinant » for individual behaviours of workers. In addition, the results show the importance of axiological processes which are involved in the activities of our subjects, including the influence of the meaning of work, on the evaluation process by the subjects of the effects of their work activity. Over the contribution to describe the working behaviours of young graduates Vietnamese, these results provide recommendations both at a theoretical and at a practical level. At the theoretical level, they invited to enrich the notion of « plural subject » in the same professional sphere as literature doesn’t approach yet. Practically, they lead to propose training and professional guidance to make easier the professional insertion of young Vietnamese women and men.

The Value of Work for Information Workers in Turkey

Okutan, Merve Nur January 2023 (has links)
This research aims to understand the value assigned to work by information workers in Turkey. Benefiting from the global literature on the meaning of work (Graeber, 2019), how work affects one’s character (Sennett, 1998), and how postmodern jobs are pushing individuals to a state of pretense (Alvesson & Spicer, 2016), I am trying to understand how the information workers in Turkey are experiencing global trends, what kind of value they assign to work, and what are some of the influences on their understanding of work. There is a growing information sector in Turkey, but very limited resources on their experiences. By utilizing the lens of the Marxist theory of alienation (Marx, 1992), this study explains the experiences of research participants in four categories: Alienation from self, from others, from productive activity, and finally the product. Research findings show that the alienation from self was heavily experienced by the research participants and the situation got severe when there was increased bureaucracy and workplace politics. Due to the increased division of labor and the nature of the information work, increased levels of alienation from productive activity and the product were also shared by participants of the research. The study concludes with my suggestions on potential future research to be conducted in the field to better understand the trends and conditions in Turkey.

Meaning in work : the development, implementation and evaluation of a logotherapy intervention in a higher education institution

Van der Walt, Corneli 11 1900 (has links)
Over the past five decades, universities across the globe have been subjected to powerful forces of change that have impacted their definition, governance and funding structures, and managerial practices. In South Africa, the reform process was amplified by the country’s apartheid legacy and the political and socio-economic realities. Consequently, the transformation has resulted in the corporatisation of universities and the re-engineering of the academic profession into a managed profession that brought about a changed work environment with less secure conditions of employment, more expectations and increased work pressure, with diminished autonomy. The changed and changing South African higher education environment has had and continues to have its effects on academic employees’ well-being, health and morale. Limited research has investigated the sense of purpose and meaning and psychological health of academic employees. Moreover, there is an absence of empirical studies that have reported on the development and evaluation of a brief group-based meaning-centred intervention that focuses on both the sense of purpose and meaning, and psychological health of academic employees. The primary aim of the study was to first explore the meaning and/or meaning frustration embedded in the academic employee experience, in order to develop and empirically assess a brief group-based meaning-centred intervention in a higher education setting. The intervention was articulated from a logotherapy perspective of Viktor Frankl’s system of psychotherapy. An intervention mixed methods design, consisting of four interdependent phases, was used to pursue the aim of the study. The phase one qualitative single case study was used to explore and describe the sense of meaning and/or meaning frustration embedded in academic employees’ experiences. This was used as a means of developing and supporting the intervention that was implemented in the phase three quantitative quasi- experimental single-group pre/post test study. Phase two was thus an applied phase where the intentional mixing of the qualitative and quantitative phases took place. Likewise, phase four was an applied phase since it was used to draw conclusions based on the integration of the phase one findings and the phase three results. The results of the quantitative study indicated that the majority of academic employees who participated in the study had a sense of definite purpose and meaning (MPIL-post = 114.59, SDPIL-post = 18.04) and psychological health, despite the changed and changing HE landscape. The main finding suggests that a logotherapy brief group-based intervention, with a strong cognitive restructuring component, may have a positive impact on the sense of purpose and meaning of academic employees, whilst reducing the presence of symptoms of depression, post traumatic stress, binge eating and panic. The experience of purpose and meaning in work, and adaptive psychological coping, was related to academic employees’ sense of making a difference in students’ development, the appreciation they have received from students, their freedom of choice, their view of work as a calling, the unique benefits of working in HE, meaning beyond the meaning in the moment (ultimate meaning) and making a difference in colleagues’ (staffs’) lives. Llimitations in the study are noted and recommendations are made to formalise existential analysis as a research method of meaning informed organisational assessment. / Psychology / Ph. D.
