Relationships between written language and historical consciousness in children and adolescents textual productions.Dias, Maria Aparecida Lima 09 August 2007 (has links)
The empiricist conceptions of learning in the teaching of History are centered, mostly, in the transmission of facts and concepts through the exhibition of the content and fixation exercises. In the teaching of the written language, they privilege the domain of the code and of the spelling, being centered more in the structures than in the usage. Opposed to that, the present study, which is part of a conceptual revision on the History and the teaching of History, the writing and the learning process of that representation system, instituting them as an educational paradigm turning back to the thinking subject\'s formation. Based on that presupposition, it is intended, with this research, to contribute for the understanding of the cognitive processes moved in the complexity of the interdisciplinary relationships, more specifically, taking the imbricament among the development of the historical consciousness and the narrative competence. Looking into the reflections of Vygotsky and Bakhtin on the relationship word and consciousness of Rüsen on the historical consciousness as learning, the research had as its objective, mapping the written productions, the students\' linguistic operations, of which emerge and change fragments of the historical consciousness. The corpus of the investigation was constituted by 134 textual productions of 67 students (29 of the 5th grade and 38 of the 8th grade of the secondary school) of a municipal school of São Paulo. In order to evaluate the transformation process of the language and the historical consciousness, the collection happened in the writing and in the rewriting of a text: in the first production, the students were invited to pronounce themselves on a daily fact, explaining their occurrence in the present; in the second, they were challenged to reconsider their composition starting from an existence that intended to enlarge the linguistic resources and the complexity of the situation in the agenda. The comparative analysis of both productions were made upon indicia paradigm formulated by Ginzburg. The results appear for the plurality of the cognitive processes and of the language strategies, evidencing the nature of the relationships among the History learning and writing. Under this prospect, the conclusions unquestionably strengthen the bases for the constitution of a transformed education.

Previous issue date: 2008-05-09 / The present study focuses and discusses some pedagogic directions
which could be detected in Brazilian textbooks designed for the teaching of
the mother tongue, i.e., the so-called oral and written language. The following
questions guided the investigation carried on in the research:
(1) Are issues concerning language variation considered in the textbooks
under analysis?
(2) Is close attention paid to the complex relations held between oral and
written language?
(3) Do the textbooks carefully explore the trends followed in the students
construction of orthographic learning?
The theoretical sources implied either to pose or to examine the
textbooks selected here were those which traditionally deal with topics which
underly the above questions, that is: Sociolinguistics, Applied Linguistics and
Language Teaching Pedagogy. Those areas of knowledge may help
understand and the critical moment of the Brazilian Education System and
also virtually affect it in a fruitful way since they have strong theoretical and
methodological resources to contribute to the building up of more solid public
educational politics.
In this study, textbooks are seen as the privileged loci of pedagogic
frameworks and didactic tendencies. One can thus easily grasp why this study
has chosen textbooks devoted to the teaching of oral and written language as
its empirical data to investigate the pedagogic proposals suggested. It could be
concluded that in the two textbooks, here analyzed, not only their specific
content matters and the themes approached were highly appropriate but also
the activities devised were not blind to the problems raised in this research / As questões que costuram o pano de fundo desta pesquisa podem ser
materna.

Vocabulário, consciência fonológica e nomeação rápida: contribuições para a ortografia e elaboração escrita / Vocabulary, phonological awareness and rapid naming: contributions for spelling and written productionMaria Thereza Mazorra dos Santos 29 August 2007 (has links)
This research aimed at understanding the linguistic processes involved in the learning of written language, as well as developing a protocol to analyze written text. This study included eighty-two 3rd graders with ages ranging from 9 to 10, from both private and public schools, and residents of the West region of São Paulo and suburbs. Three studies composed this investigation. The first study analyzed student performance on tests of vocabulary knowledge, phonological awareness and rapid naming for objects. All students performed as expected for their age in these tests. The second study focused on the analysis of written production, as evaluated through a word and pseudoword spelling task and a written narrative text. The spelling errors observed in these tests were compatible with the development of written skills of the subjects, however it is necessary to understand which are the spelling-strategies used by the children. Regarding text-writing skills, although the children have not yet mastered the narrative scheme, they displayed enough linguistic knowledge to elaborate original written stories in a narrative form. The proposed protocol was revealed as a practical tool to evaluate in detail several aspects involved in written text production. The third study focused on the correlations among the different performance variables analyzed, including vocabulary, phonological awareness, rapid naming tasks, spelling and production of narrative written texts.

impact on the future life of the individuals, explaining the importance of this
stage of education. This study aims to contribute to the research on learning
and the development of the child that attends this modality of education. The
research was based on the concepts of psychology on the inter-relationship
between learning and development and the concepts of cognitive psychology of
reading, including the model of word recognition of Ehri. The objective of this
research was to verify if there are relations between the different stages of the
writing and the reasoning silogistico. It was accepted as a hypothesis that
children perform better in writing also show better results in syllogistic reasoning
expressed orally. The study included 29 children with a mean age of 6 years
and 3 months of age, enrolled in a public school of Sao Paulo in the last stage
of early childhood education. To verify our hypothesis the study was a
correlational design. Individual applications were made for evidence of written
words and syllogistic reasoning. The results showed a positive correlation
between writing words and syllogistic reasoning, allowing to conclude that as
children get better performance in writing, also demonstrate better performance
on syllogisms justify their answers based on the premises. It concludes with
considerations about the importance of paying attention in kindergarten, the
specificities of small children, favoring both the initial teaching of written
language and the development of deductive reasoning / Estudos sobre a educação infantil evidenciam que frequentá-la exerce impacto
favorecer o desenvolvimento do raciocínio lógico dedutivo

Previous issue date: 2014-02-24 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Learning how to read and write in alphabetical writing systems constitutes a complex task that demands many skills, among them the knowledge of letters and their relation to the sounds of the language. Hence, guaranteeing the teaching and learning of the alphabetic principle, i.e., that the letters represent the sounds in children s education, allows learners to become proficient readers and writers in the following schooling years. Research shows that the knowledge of the name of the letters relates with the initial progress in the learning process of reading and writing. Literature in this domain still shows the contributions of the development of the alphabetical principle to the practices in literacy. An educational application aimed at the teaching and learning of the alphabetic principle can help the learner understand that the letters represent the sounds. This research had two goals: to develop an educational application - Mundo das Letras ( World of Letters ), aimed at teaching the alphabetic principle, supported by the contributions from cognitive psychology of reading, and to test its usage with a group of children aged between five and six. Two thirty-student groups from the second degree of preschool at a Municipal Children Education School (EMEI) located in the city of São Paulo were formed in order to test the application s usage: the application group (GA) and the control group (GC). A three-step outline was used: initial evaluation, application and final evaluation. The application of Mundo das Letras application was carried out in the EMEI s computer lab for thirty days, three times a week, with the duration of thirty minutes per session. The results demonstrated that the children from the application group obtained a great advancement in the recognition and naming of the letters of the alphabet, when compared to children from the control group. The application group s children s utterances as well as the observation of their behavior during the application sessions showed that the application aroused their interest and motivation, retaining their attention and their expressed willingness to continue using the application. Some considerations were made regarding the implication of these results to the initial teaching of the written language to preschool children / Aprender a ler e a escrever, em sistemas alfabéticos de escrita, é uma tarefa complexa que exige várias habilidades, entre elas, o conhecimento das letras e sua correspondência com os sons da linguagem.

Previous issue date: 2007-10-04 / The objective of this study was to investigate the main aspects involved in the
process of construction of a child s writing with Down s Syndrome, in order to
understand the indications which reveal advances in the process of appropriation of
writing abilities, during regular activities, in a group in the beginning of the elementary
school. The study was carried out starting from a qualitative focus of research.
Besides the child with Down s Syndrome in the regular teaching as a focus, we
adopted the historical and cultural theory as reference to the analysis. We analyzed
the development of a child s writing in a group and in the classroom, taking into
account the interactions between the children and between the teacher and the
children and all support offered to the student to learn how to write. We analyzed the
support network formed by social agents of the school. The data were collected
through documental analysis, interviews, systematic observation of the activities in
the classroom, analysis of what children wrote and analysis of bimonthly
evaluations, carried out by teachers from the 1st and 2nd grades. The analysis of the
data demonstrated that the students with Down s Syndrome learn the written
language in the regular teaching. In order to accomplish this result, however, it is
essential that the school undertakes a series of actions, among which we can
highlight the following: offer resources and necessary support for it; evaluate the real
level of development of the students; and plan the teaching and learning process
deliberately, taking into account that it needs to be meaningful to everyone and that it
happens in a shared context of interactions. For the success of the inclusive
education, the school needs to invest in the continuous formation of teachers and
professionals of the educational area. Without that, there is no possibility to count on
the necessary technical elements to plan and establish an effective teaching for all
of the students. Besides, the ones who act in the school environment need to
participate and mobilize themselves, because if the teacher is the only one prepared
to receive the students with deficiency, they won t progress in their learning and
development. It is necessary that all those who are involved with the school have a
conscious and active participation in this process / Este estudo teve por objetivo investigar os aspectos-chave envolvidos no processo
Analisamos a
no ensino regular.
consciente e ativamente deste processo

Previous issue date: 2011-08-18 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This study aimed to investigate the teaching practices of written language to deaf students in
special schools bilingual guidance. Based on the contributions of Vygotsky (1997 and 2000),
Ferreiro (2001) and Soares (2009 and 2010) were collected and analyzed data on the
processes used in those schools that have as a basis for the teaching of writing, the acquisition
by these students, the Brazilian Sign Language (LBS). In this sense, the analysis was based on
the perspectives that consider the written language as a form of representation different from
any other language and the relationship between the appropriation of the essential elements of
the written language (literacy) and social use (literacy). To this end, we used data collection
procedures to observe in a class of special school for deaf students, held from 02 to 05/2011,
both with regard to the time of the formal discipline of portuguese language, and the other
disciplines in which written language is used. The main findings of the investigation were: the
teaching activities developed, involving the use of written portuguese language, did not favor
its effective ownership to the extent that the relation between sign language and written
Portuguese impoverished the linguistic knowledge and of world of the students and the
teaching of written language is still being designed as coding of sign language / O presente estudo teve por finalidade investigar as práticas de ensino da língua escrita com

Previous issue date: 2014-03-18 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The deaf education in Brazil is, above all, the scene of major tensions: segregated or
inclusive rooms; specialized or regular schools, sign language, or oralism
bilingualism; LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language) or written Portuguese language etc.
As a consequence, researches on the deaf people in academia represent a great
amount, summing up 643 works, among master s degree thesis and doctorate s
dissertation, within a period of 24 years. For this reason, and considering that the
written language acquisition is essential for a qualified school progression, this
literature review, guided by quantitative and qualitative methodology, analyzes data
from the abstracts available in the CAPES (Coordination of Improvement of Higher
Education Personnel) Theses Database, from 1987 to 2010, concerning 136
academic productions whose research was about the teaching and learning of writing
in Portuguese language for deaf people, in order to answer who, when, where and
how the teaching and learning of written language for deaf people were researched
in the Brazilian academic productions. For the analysis, this research was oriented by
the contributions of cultural materialism (Williams, 1980), through which it is possible
to verify the specifics of material production to interpret the socio-historical practices,
and by the Discourse Analysis by Pecheux (2012) and Orlandi (2008), in which we
analyze what is said and the unsaid in academic abstracts . It was concluded that this
material can help researchers and other interested people to reflect on the research
on deaf people held in Brazil. In conclusion, between other things, there is a
concentration of papers in states such as São Paulo and in themes such as language
and education, usually in programs turned specially to this and also that informations
such as the base and theoretical sources are not mentioned in the summaries / A educação de surdos no Brasil é, acima de tudo, palco de grandes tensões:
brasileiras.
