Vi slår på trummor inte på varann! En kontextextualiserad utvärderingen av ett kulturprojekt för barn och unga

Jonasson, Camilla January 2011 (has links)
In October 2010 started the pilot project, Vi slår på trummor inte på varann! The project was conducted under Utveckling Barn & Unga, which is collaboration between the Musik i Syd and the city of Kristi- anstad, in order to strengthen the children ́s and adolescents culture in the region. Slättängsskolan in Kristianstad was chosen as a pilot school and all students in grades 6 and 7 have participated in the project. The project ended with two concerts, one at the school and one at the Kristianstad Concert Hall. This thesis presents a contextualized evaluation of the pilot project, Vi slår på trummor inte på varann! anchored in three contexts:• Theory• Politics• MethodologyThese theoretical approaches include theories that are relevant to the evaluation of the project, Vi slår på trummor inte på varann! The pedagogical theories are related to learning processes regarding Art Education. Curriculum goals and values are also the basis for the evaluation. Methodologically I have used the method triangulation, a combination of methods, to evaluate the project in order to get a ”toolbox” of theoretical approaches for my future work as a cultural producer for children and young people. The results of the evaluation indicate that the majority of the students experienced the project as something good and something that they want to continue. Most positive were the students in 6:th grade. The students who thought it felt good to play drums were also more positive about the project as a whole. The most favorable of the project, according to the students, was the concerts. Concerts and media attention have revised the image of the school. Through the project, the school thus had something positive to gather around, which was one of the goals of the project. Based on evaluation results, I finally examined if the project, Vi slår på trummor inte på varann! can be regarded as a sign of a shift of paradigm in the perception of culture for children and young people in Sweden today.

Wide Area Analysis and Application in Power System

Wu, Zhongyu 08 January 2010 (has links)
Frequency monitoring network (FNET) is an Internet based GPS synchronized wide-area frequency monitoring network deployed at distribution level. At first part of this thesis, FNET structure and characteristics are introduced. After analysis and smoothing FDR signals, the algorithm of event trigger is present with Visual C++ DLL programming. Estimation of disturbance location method is discussed based on the time delay of arriving (TDOA) in the second part of this work. In this section, author shows the multiply method to calculate event time, which is important when deal with pre-disturbance frequency in TDOA part. Two event kinds are classified by the change of frequency and the linear relationship between change of frequency and imbalance of generation and load power is presented. Prove that Time Delay of Arrival (TDOA) is a good algorithm for estimation event location proved by real cases. At last, the interface of DLL module and the key word to import and export DLL variables and function is described. At last, PSS compensation optimization with a set of nonlinear differential algebraic equations (DAE) is introduced in detail. With combining the bifurcation theory of nonlinear system and the optimization theory, the optimal control of small-signal stability of power electric systems are solved. From the perspective of stability margin, global coordination of controller parameters is studied to ensure the stable operation of power grids. The main contents of this thesis include: ï¼ 1ï¼ Models of power systems and test power electric systems. Tht5e dynamic and static models of the elements of power systems, such as generatorbbs, AVRs, PSSs, loads and FACTS controllers are presented. Method of power system linearization modeling is introduced. Three test power systems, WSCC 9-bus system, 2-area system, New England 39-bus system, are used in thesis. ï¼ 2ï¼ Multi-objective optimizations based on bifurcation theory. The optimization models, damping control-Hopf bifurcation control, voltage control-damping control, are presented. Pareto combined with evolutionary strategy (ES) are used to solve multi-objective optimizations. Based on traditional PSS parameters optimizations, it can be formulated as a multi-objective problem, in which, two objectives should be taken into account. The minimum damping torque should be identified. / Master of Science

無線網狀網路中干擾感知之拓樸控制的研究 / Interference-Aware Topology Control in Wireless Mesh Network

方任瑋, Fang, Ren Wei Unknown Date (has links)
In wireless mesh networks, such as WLAN (IEEE 802.11s), WMAN (IEEE 802.16), etc., each node should forward packets of neighboring nodes toward gateway using multi-hop routing mechanism. In wireless mesh network, as the density of network nodes increases, the RF interference will increase and the throughput of each node will drop rapidly. In our research, we use the geometry to resolve the RF interference problem by rebuilding network topology. We try to minimize the interference between neighboring nodes and improve the throughput in wireless mesh network. We transform the network topology problem into geometry problem and define the line intersection problem in geometric graph, then check path intersection in the geometric graph. If line intersection occurs in the graph, we remove the intersection line from the graph and re-plan the region by triangulation algorithm. When the network topology is built up, we use a standard deviation formula to improve network performance by removing longer links. The line intersection algorithm and triangulation algorithm, both of time complexity O(n log n), are used to find the minimal interference solution. At the end of our research, we use network simulator to verify if the proposed methods can help to meet all those performance expectations.

Etude et développement d'un noeud piézoélectrique intégré dans un micro-système reconfigurable : applications à la surveillance "de santé" de structures aéronautiques / Study and development of a smart piezoelectric network node integrated into a reconfigurable microsystem : application to aircraft structural health monitoring

Boukabache, Hamza 07 October 2013 (has links)
Based on non-destructive testing, current on the ground periodical structural integrity inspections showed their limit as evidenced by the Columbia tragedy. For the time being, structural health monitoring technology has reached a good technology readiness level (TRL). However, the integration of these solutions into future aerospace vehicle will require advanced and innovative system architecture. Further, improved SHM techniques and alleged assessment algorithm will be necessary to ensure an embedded integration, as well as to fully exploit their sensing capability. For now, most of high critical embedded systems are based on federate architectures, where each calculator is dedicated to a specific function and to a unique kind of sensor. By consequence, the integration on the field of conventional SHM solutions is highly difficult due to the scale and the weight of the global electronics systems. Based on a fully reconfigurable micro-system, I propose in this thesis, a novel SHM approach that combines into a unique System on Chip: • Sensors instrumentation and interfacing using reconfigurable analog circuits• Signal management and conditioning using reconfigurable digital electronics • Heath diagnostic assessment algorithms using an embedded CPUBased on elastic guided waves and electromechanical impedance analysis, the presented solution is capable through piezoelectric sensors to detect different kinds of abnormal events such as impacts. Moreover, using advanced wavelet transform and signature comparison algorithms, the system is also capable to detect mechanical damages such as corrosion, cracks or delaminations ; no matter if the probed structure is in simple composite, honeycomb composite or metallic alloy. The feasibility was proven using multiples specimens directly extracted from Airbus and ATR airplanes. To cover large areas, the system is fully scalable and accepts a hardware upgrade through multiple communication ports and protocols. Moreover, the versatility of inputs/outputs interface allows the exploitation of multiple sensors in order to locate and triangulate flaws

The role of parenting styles in the acquisition of responsibility in adolescents

Preston, Lynn Doreen 30 November 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study was to ascertain the role of parental influence and, in particular, the parenting style on the development of academic responsibility in adolescence. The measurement instrument used to gauge the level of responsibility an adolescent attains was the evaluation of the individual's academic results in relation to a specific parenting style. Academic achievements were seen as a reflection of the individual's positive or negative behaviour towards his/her academic responsibilities and requirements. The research was done by means of a literature study and empirical research. The initial sample of participants consisted of adolescents between the age of fifteen and seventeen years. These individuals completed a questionnaire, which required their biographic details, their perceptions of their parents' parenting styles and their academic results. Two v learners were selected to participate in an in-depth study. One of the learners achieved academically, the other was a poor academic achiever. These individual's parenting styles to which they had been subjected, as well as their academic performances were evaluated. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (Specialising in Guidance & Counselling)

The representation of male and female celebrities on e+ Magazine covers and how it might influence teenagers living in the UAE

Madlela, Khulekani 06 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine how male and female celebrities are represented on the 24 covers of e+, a weekly entertainment magazine that was published by Dubai-based Al Nisr Publishing. This cross-sectional, exploratory study used a qualitative visual semiotic analysis and quantitative content analysis to examine how male and female celebrities are constructed and represented on covers published between October 2010 and September 2011. In addition, the study explored whether the myths and ideologies found on the covers made an impression on the perceptions and tastes of teenagers living in the UAE. A subsequent self-administered questionnaire was completed by 30 teenagers living in the UAE aged between 16 and 19 with the purpose of determining how teenagers experienced representations of celebrities. Furthermore, to gain a deeper understanding of how teenagers experienced celebrity culture, three focus-group interviews, each comprising of six participants, are conducted. The study found that both male and female celebrities were represented in gender stereotypical roles. Results showed that male celebrities were represented as active, strong, decisive and dominant. Male celebrities were associated with success, fast cars and dangerous weapons. On the other hand, female celebrities were predominantly represented as submissive. The representations of female celebrities focused on beauty and fashion. The survey and focus-group results revealed that celebrity culture does have an influence on teenagers. Participants reported that they bought products that they saw celebrities wearing or using, emulated the celebrities’ behaviour and copied hairstyles and make-up looks. However, the study found that, in addition to celebrity culture, teenagers’ perceptions are also shaped by their peers, parents and other people they interact with such as teachers. / Communication Science / M.A. (Communication Science)

The use of horseriding in the lives of children with cerebral palsy : an ecosystemic exploration

Tredoux, Yolanda 01 1900 (has links)
In the realm of therapeutic horseback riding one becomes aware of the idiosyncratic way in which each unique individual depicts his or her experience of a therapeutic riding endeavor. This study focuses on the meanings attributed to therapeutic riding in the lives of children with cerebral palsy because the complementary use of horses in therapy with these children may be of great importance to the medical fraternity. This exploration investigated the influence of the children's relationship with a horse, and the parents' perception of horseriding as a complementary therapy to occupational- and physiotherapy. The theoretical background and a literature review on therapeutic horseback riding and cerebral palsy were presented in this study. This study followed a holistic, ecosystemic epistemology. Both a qualitative approach and a quantitative approach were adopted as two complementary sides of a more encompassing whole and provided rich descriptions of the context and research process. / Psychology / M.A. (Clinical Psychology)

Survivability enhancement in a combat environment

Seow, Yoke Wei. 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / The objective of this thesis is to provide an aircraft with an optimal route to its destination that avoids encroaching into surface-to-air weapons killing envelopes in real time. The optimal route computed will be updated dynamically, depending on the location of the vehicle and the location of the Surface to Air Missile (SAM) sites. The problem was solved using heuristic algorithms instead of the conventional Dijkstra's & Bellman Ford algorithms, which are computationally expensive. Data fusion techniques such as spatial correlation and triangulation algorithms are presented in detail. Such techniques are important for situational awareness in a real time combat environment. Important information provided by onboard sensors are merged with the preplanned data to provide the operator with a better integrated picture of the combat environment. / Civilian, Singapore Ministry of Defense

Developing a multidisciplinary digital forensic readiness model for evidentiary data handling

Pooe, El Antonio 05 1900 (has links)
There is a growing global recognition as to the importance of outlawing malicious computer related acts in a timely manner, yet few organisations have the legal and technical resources necessary to address the complexities of adapting criminal statutes to cyberspace. Literature reviewed in this study suggests that a coordinated, public-private partnership to produce a model approach can help reduce potential dangers arising from the inadvertent creation of cybercrime havens. It is against this backdrop that the study seeks to develop a digital forensic readiness model (DFRM) using a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach, involving both the public and private sectors, thus enabling organisations to reduce potential dangers arising from the inadvertent destruction and negating of evidentiary data which, in turn, results in the non-prosecution of digital crimes. The thesis makes use of 10 hypotheses to address the five research objectives, which are aimed at investigating the problem statement. This study constitutes qualitative research and adopts the post-modernist approach. The study begins by investigating each of the 10 hypotheses, utilising a systematic literature review and interviews, followed by a triangulation of findings in order to identify and explore common themes and strengthen grounded theory results. The output from the latter process is used as a theoretical foundation towards the development of a DFRM model which is then validated and verified against actual case law. Findings show that a multidisciplinary approach to digital forensic readiness can aid in preserving the integrity of evidentiary data within an organisation. The study identifies three key domains and their critical components. The research then demonstrates how the interdependencies between the domains and their respective components can enable organisations to identify and manage vulnerabilities which may contribute to the inadvertent destruction and negating of evidentiary data. The Multidisciplinary Digital Forensic Readiness Model (M-DiFoRe) provides a proactive approach to creating and improving organizational digital forensic readiness. This study contributes to the greater body of knowledge in digital forensics in that it reduces complexities associated with achieving digital forensic readiness and streamlines the handling of digital evidence within an organisation. / Information Science / Ph.D. (Information Systems)
