The anomic society : Corruption and social norms during the Fujimori era (1990-2000)

Vidal, Arturo Martin January 2015 (has links)
This research has focused on the correlation between corruption and social norms by the used of the anomic theory, which is supported by six variables: the rule of law, the division of labor, the regulator organisms, the collective consciousness, the homogeneous society and amiguismo. The anomie theory refers primarily to the absence of rules that measure the relationship of the various individuals in a group or parts of a whole society; where it is possible to find human appetites with no limits. This theory contributes to the discussions around, and new understandings of, how societies may develop a culture of anti-corruption; by influencing existing social norms and improvements to existing value systems. Analysing the mandate period of the former president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori (July 28, 1990 - November 17, 2000) will provide a working example to explore and understand the relationship between corruption and social norms within the Peruvian society. All the while analysing these case through the framework of the chosen theory.

Förstår vi varandra rätt? : Mångfald i den interkulturella förskolan

Krolak, Magdalena January 2015 (has links)
This is an essay about the difficulties that can occur within the intercultural preschool, with how the parents background, willpower and whishes may not always be applicable to the preschool curriculum due to cultural differences. It is about how I as an educator can have intentions that collide with childrens and parents homeculture. There are different references in different cultures and we need to find ways to communicate regardless of any language difficulties that may be present. From a written dilemma I explore how different conditions can affect our communication skills to parents of foreign origin. Through my work I daily meet with different cultures and diversity which is the reason and idea behind this essay.

Nilsson, Lisa January 2017 (has links)
This study compares two educational  materials for English education on how different  genderidentities and sexualities are represented in text and illustrations. The  curriculum  for the Swedish school (Skolverket 2016, Lgr11) is based on a value system, one of equality. The equality program in the  curriculum  includes awareness of and  respect toward different genders, and is against offensive treatment based on excessive gender expressions, sexualities, ethnicities, body capabilities, religions, and age. Traditional gender roles are to be questioned and countervailed, so that all children can develop their own personal qualities and interests without the influences of gender standards. The  equality program is meant  to be a part of the daily learning environment.  Educational  materials should  therefor  reflect diversity, according to the value system (Berge, 2011). Pupils can read many different  educational texts  each da y, and reflect on illustrations and pictures. All these materials can affect pupils’ values and standards. Indeed, pupils can learn more than English when the educational  materials covers more than the  subjects’ core information.

The generalized Hamiltonian model for the shafting transient analysis of the hydro turbine generating sets.

Zeng, Y., Zhang, L., Guo, Yakun, Qian, J., Zhang, C. 12 January 2014 (has links)
yes / Traditional rotor dynamics mainly focuses on the steady- state behavior of the rotor and shafting. However, for systems such as hydro turbine generating sets (HTGS) where the control and regulation is frequently applied, the shafting safety and stabilization in transient state is then a key factor. The shafting transient state inevitably involves multiparameter domain, multifield coupling, and coupling dynamics. In this paper, the relative value form of the Lagrange function and its equations have been established by defining the base value system of the shafting. Takingthe rotation angle and the angular speed of the shafting as a link, the shafting lateral vibration and generator equations are integrated into the framework of generalized Hamiltonian system. The generalized Hamiltonian control model is thus established. To make the model more general, additional forces of the shafting are taken as the input excitation in proposed model. The control system of the HTGS can be easily connected with the shafting model to form the whole simulation system of the HTGS. It is expected that this study will build a foundation for the coupling dynamics theory using the generalized Hamiltonian theory to investigate coupling dynamic mechanism among the shafting vibration, transient of hydro turbine generating sets, and additional forces of the shafting. / National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant Nos. 51179079 and 50839003

ITIL4 & DEVOPS : EN STUDIE OM ITIL4 OCH DESS SAMEXISTENS MED DEVOPS / ITIL4 & DevOps : A Study About ITIL4 and its Coexistence with DevOps

Thornberg, Emil, Arvidsson, Daniel January 2022 (has links)
It can be difficult for organizations to navigate the IT-landscape that we have today. Through rapid development regarding technology and applications, but also with frameworks and work methods saying they’re perfect for your organization. Therefore, it’s important to create an understanding for which things you can combine, but also which combinations should be avoided. One of the biggest frameworks regarding IT-Service management (ITSM) is called information technology infrastructure library (ITIL). ITIL has been around since the 80’s and its main purpose is to help organizations with management of their services. Then there’s DevOps which is a work method that emerged from the agile movement. The purpose of this study was to identify how the latest version of ITIL can be combined with DevOps to help organizations to become more effective. The reason behind that is because previous studies have shown that ITIL and DevOps are structured in a way that makes it hard for organizations to combine them. Therefore, a qualitative study was conducted with a literature review surrounding both ITIL4 and DevOps, to create a better understanding of what they are, and how they are used. But additional research was also reviewed to understand which problems and possibilities there were if they both were combined. Four semi-structured interviews were also conducted with experts regarding ITIL4 and DevOps. These interviews were conducted to create a better understanding of how ITIL and DevOps operate in the real world, but also to get an understanding of the respondents view of the combination. The result from this study shows that ITIL and DevOps have more in-common than previous versions. There are several areas that both ITIL4 and DevOps touch which have big similarities. They both create a holistic view for organizations, but also shows continual development in combination with feedback is essential for them both. But where there are differences, it can be identified where they complement each other. ITIL4 complements DevOps by expanding its views based on the three central elements in DevOps. While DevOps can help ITIL4 by establishing an iterative workflow throughout the organization, but also be a strong contributor to continual improvement.

Motivational factors influencing women’s decisions to pursue upper-level administrative positions in higher education

Cox, Kelline Sue January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Education / Department of Educational Leadership / Trudy A. Salsberry / Much of the research on women advancing in higher education has been focused on the external barriers and how to break down the barriers. Initiatives and programs have been implemented, but the number of women in upper-level administrative positions in higher education, although increasing, is not increasing in proportion to women's overall numbers in education and the work force. The structure and processes at work in a particular situation can change more readily than changing people's behaviors directly. With this in mind, the purpose of this study was to take a positive approach by looking to women who have reached the upper-level administrative arena and investigate what influential factors were responsible for motivating them to this achievement. This qualitative multi-case study used the elements of Bandura's Model of Reciprocal Determination, specifically self-efficacy, personal behavior, and environmental factors to determine the factors motivating women to upper-level administrative positions. Eighteen women who have reached the upper-level administrative positions (e.g., provost, vice-president or vice-provost) at land-grant universities were interviewed. The themes of this study suggest that support groups and individual mentors were important motivating factors because these groups and individuals encouraged, coached, and supported women administrators on their decisions to enter higher education and then as they pursued upper-level administrative positions. In addition, women felt successful when they were able to be the nurturers, assisting and influencing others to succeed. Also, the women administrators recognized the need for knowledge, skills, and experience to assist in their career advancement. Furthermore, they emphasized developing and evaluating personal values, and ensured their personal values fit with institutional values. At the same time, women administrators stressed the value of time and the choices they made to balance time between work and family and between work and personal time. Recommendations to implement initiatives to promote and support the motivational factors identified in this study are discussed.
