En litteraturöversikt om compassion fatigue hos sjuksköterskor / A litterature review of compassion fatigue in nurses

Andersson, Camilla, Sandstedt, Lisa January 2017 (has links)
Diskussion: Watsons teori om mänsklig omsorg och Conti O´Hares theory of the nurse as a wounded healer användes som teoretiska referensramar. / Background: Compassion fatigue among nurses is described as a reduced ability to feel empathy due to being exposed to other peoples trauma, at the same time empathy is seen as one of the core values in nursing. Many nurses lack knowledge about the subject but affected nurses describes it as an overwhelmingly feeling that something is wrong. This may lead to a lot of nurses thinking about leaving the profession. Aim: The purpose was to identify the factors that lead to compassion fatigue in nurses. Method: A literature review according to Friberg´s method that is based on eleven quantitative articles and one qualitative article. Results: The results were presented on the basis of four themes: empathy, feelings of guilt and morol distress, personal and social factors, work related and organizational factors and also age, work experience and professionalism. Some of the factors that cause compassion fatigue were degree of empathetic ability and personal coping strategies. Discussion: Watson´s theory of human caring and Conti O´Hare´s theory of the nurse as a wounded healer was used as theoretical frame of reference. Watson describes empathy as one of the core values in her theory of human caring, at the same time the results of the literature review showed that nurses with a higher degree of empathy were at higher risk to develop compassion fatigue. This can be seen as contradictory when empathy is a condition in caring. Conti O´Hare´s theory and the result agree in the regard that if trauma is not handled in a positive way it may lead to illness.

A concept of an intent-based contextual chat-bot with capabilities for continual learning

Strutynskiy, Maksym January 2020 (has links)
Chat-bots are computer programs designed to conduct textual or audible conversations with a single user. The job of a chat-bot is to be able to find the best response for any request the user issues. The best response is considered to answer the question and contain relevant information while following grammatical and lexical rules. Modern chat-bots often have trouble accomplishing all these tasks. State-of-the-art approaches, such as deep learning, and large datasets help chat-bots tackle this problem better. While there is a number of different approaches that can be applied for different kind of bots, datasets of suitable size are not always available. In this work, we introduce and evaluate a method of expanding the size of datasets. This will allow chat-bots, in combination with a good learning algorithm, to achieve higher precision while handling their tasks. The expansion method uses the continual learning approach that allows the bot to expand its own dataset while holding conversations with its users. In this work we test continual learning with IBM Watson Assistant chat-bot as well as a custom case study chat-bot implementation. We conduct the testing using a smaller and a larger datasets to find out if continual learning stays effective as the dataset size increases. The results show that the more conversations the chat-bot holds, the better it gets at guessing the intent of the user. They also show that continual learning works well for larger and smaller datasets, but the effect depends on the specifics of the chat-bot implementation. While continual learning makes good results better, it also turns bad results into worse ones, thus the chat-bot should be manually calibrated should the precision of the original results, measured before the expansion, decrease.

Podpora ladění ve knihovně WALA pro statickou analýzu / Debugging Support for Static Analysis Library WALA

Havel, Filip January 2021 (has links)
Nowadays, static analysis is a helpful option for developers to ensure all the important properties of a developed application. But these analyses must be also developed and it is inevitable that sometimes they must be debugged to find and solve problems inside of the analyses themself. The debugging of static analyses might be more complicated because some popular analysis frameworks do not provide sufficient support for debugging. One of the widely used analysis frameworks is WALA. In this thesis, we thoroughly explored all the main features of WALA and determined possible points for better debugging support. For each of these points, we designed and implemented supporting infrastructure that should accelerate the process of debugging by avoiding the tedious manual effort needed for inspection and evaluation of the internal state of WALA. One kind of these points is the analysis configuration where we created an inspection system for class hierarchy and call graph that should detect common misconfiguration problems. The next point is the debugging of the data flow transfer functions, for which we created a visualizer of the running analysis over the subject program. This visualization is done within the Visual Studio Code editor. To connect the editor with the analysis we used Debug Adapter Protocol and...

Assessing Macroeconomic factors' influence on the Swedish real estate company stock market - A multiple linear regression analysis / Bedömning av makroekonomiska faktorers påverkan på svenska fastighetsaktier - En multipel linjär regressionsanalys

Löfman, Axel, Jia, Kay January 2022 (has links)
Investing in public real estate stocks can diversify a stock portfolio due to the nature of these companies. The industry is generally less sensitive to economic downturns and spikes in inflation are offset by increased real estate property and rent prices. Nevertheless, measures of the wider economy could be used as predictors of the real estate stock market.  This thesis attempts to model the Swedish real estate stock market with the index SX35PI (Stockholm Real Estate PI) using the fundamental economic factors and repo rate. Data was collected and formatted to a monthly interval for the period February 2012 to December 2021. This resulted in an exponential multiple regression model that used all the regressors that explained 95.7% of the variation in SX35PI, and an alternative autoregressive forecasting model that explained 82.3% of the variation in SX35PI.

The evolution of Sherlock Holmes : adapting character across time and text

Polasek, Ashley D. January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce, justify, and apply a better framework for analysing Sherlock Holmes, one of the most adapted characters of all time. The project works to resituate the focus of those involved in studying adaptations of Sherlock Holmes from an examination of the discrete transition of a text from page to screen, to the evolution of the character as it changes across various intertexts and through time. The purpose is to show that it is the character specifically, and not the literary text with its narrative, genric, and aesthetic qualifications, that is being adapted, and that with this in mind, studying adaptations of Sherlock Holmes should involve a study of the various processes, pressures, and mechanisms that shape, change, and define the character throughout its hundreds of screen afterlives. This thesis then analyses many of these processes with the aim of contributing to our understanding of how a character like Holmes is moulded through remediation. It takes into account how the character’s indices shift and accumulate as they are variously performed. It also considers how the mechanisms of selection function to privilege certain incarnations of the character, and how that privileging becomes a part of future readings. Finally, it addresses how reception and perception by audiences influence how the character is read, and thus how it is understood. By considering all of these aspects of the evolutionary process, and by avoiding a chronological or even a linear organization of the texts under scrutiny, this work seeks to offer a more complete answer to the question of how a single source can support a multitude of varied, even contradictory adaptations and remain relevant and interesting through the years.

Relationship Between Stress Burden and Perceived Support Among Elderly Male Spousal Caregivers

Sexton, Stephanie Fitzsimmons 01 January 2015 (has links)
As older couples age, often one partner becomes more competent and able to care for the other, in which case they are able to remain in their homes. In one township in the northeastern United States, the caregiving role had a significant effect on the lives of elderly men who care for their wives. The purpose of this quantitative project study was to determine the relationship between perceived stress burden and perceived level of social support services and between perceived stress burden and use of support services by elderly male spousal caregivers residing in active adult communities. Watson's theory of caring provided the theoretical foundation for this study. A correlational design was used and data were collected from 82 elderly male spousal caregivers with (a) the Zarit Burden Interview; (b) the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support; and (c) a checklist, Support Services in Your Area. Descriptive analysis indicated that participants carry a large stress burden, particularly emotional stress (Zarit Burden score of 36.58/65), enjoy strong social support (Multidimensional Scale score of 45.47/75), and use few community services. Pearson's product-moment correlation revealed no significant relationship between perceived stress burden and perceived social support or between perceived stress burden and use of community services, indicating that men feel emotional stress but the feelings are not related to their use of community services. As community services were not used by elderly male caregiver spouses, a workshop for professionals was developed to help the professionals expand programs and services that may have value for these men in their caregiver role. This study has social significance because satisfaction with the caregiver role has consequences for the health and financial well-being of the elderly and for U.S. society.

Critical Thinking Skills Of Prospective Teachers: Foreign Language Education Case At The Middle East Technical University

Tufan, Didem 01 December 2008 (has links) (PDF)
This research examined the critical thinking (CT) skills and conceptions of prospective teachers studying at Foreign Language Education Department at Middle East Technical University. In this way, the study intended to contribute to the field of curriculum and instruction by pointing to the currents status while constituting a basis for further actions in teacher education in terms CT. In this research, data analysis was carried out through both quantitative and qualitative analysis. A survey, including Student Information Form, and Watson and Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal- Form YM Turkish version were utilized for data gathering. Data were collected from 103 prospective teachers in the junior and senior level during the Spring Semester of 2007- 2008 Academic Year. Results demonstrated that the critical thinking (CT) levels of prospective teachers assessed by WGCTA are in medium level. In addition, WGCTA-YM cannot be predicted from reported regular reading activity, CGPA, and gender. Besides, results showed that, prospective teachers make rudiment or vague statements about critical thinking activities and do not point to a common instructional activity. In terms of critical thinking definitions, prospective teachers mostly perceive CT as a cognitive skill. Furthermore, there is a common sense view of CT rather than an understanding based on literature. The results revealed that prospective teachers are short of the essential CT skills and the CT comprehension to be able to raise individuals with CT ability. Therefore, curriculum renovation movements, projects, and research studies to improve critical thinking skills in teacher education should be developed and implemented.

Pardo Millan, Juan Carlos 09 July 2007 (has links) (PDF)
