#metoo förändrar svensk affärsmedias ledardiskurs : - ett steg närmare jämställdhet? / #metoo changes Swedish business media leadership discourse : - one step closer to gender equality?

Roos, Gunilla January 2021 (has links)
The boss and daddys´s little girl: on the construction of gender in Swedish business media” (Hansson, Gottfridsson & Raanaes, 2019).

: En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av metoo-rörelsens berättelser om sexuella trakasserier i arbetslivet / Where is the Limit? Where are the Boundaries? : A Qualitative Content Analysis of the Metoo Movement’s Stories about Sexual Harassment in Working Life

Sellgren, Ellinor, Kecklund, Hulda January 2018 (has links)

You better shave up, 'cause we need new men. / You better shave up, ´cause we need new men. : A qualitative content analysis on how stereotypical masculinity is represented in four commercials.

Hansson, Marvin, Källström, Edward January 2020 (has links)
In this bachelor’s thesis we intend to investigate how masculine stereotypes are presented in four commercials before versus after #metoo. The purpose is to examine whether and in what way the masculine stereotypes have changed in our selected commercials presentation in accordance with cultural change. We intend to examine how representations relate to the context of social changes, the changing view of masculinity and masculine normative stereotypes. The analysis is performed with a multimodal analysis. The focus is on semiotics and its constituents. Since the thesis uses qualitative analysis, we have chosen to focus on those parts of the material that can be interpreted semiotically in order to gain a deeper understanding of its connection to social change in accordance with our theories. The studys results show that the four commercials we examined show a change before versus after #metoo. This change is in accordance with cultural studies. Hegemonic masculinity theory further explains how the new masculinity is presented in the later commercials. Furthermore, we ask ourselves whether the changes is made out of goodwill or to surf on a wave of political correctness.

A literary gender analysis in the footsteps of #MeToo of two texts by Margareta Strömstedt and one by Matilda Gustavsson

Eriksson, Marlena January 2020 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze and find explanations in literature for the gender-controlled dynamics contained in the selected quotations, using the theoretical starting points of the essay and under the theme power structures between men and women. The analysis draws of theories of gender, feminism, power and underlying linguistic factors that make, and in what way, the message reach the reader. The study has focused on three excerpts from the books of Margareta Strömstedt Jag skulle så gärna vilja förföra dig – men jag orkar inte (I would love to seduce you - but I can't cope) and Natten innan de hängde Ruth Ellis och andra berättelser ur mitt liv (The nigth before hanging Ruth Ellis and other stories from my life), and an excerpt from the book Klubben (The Club) of Matilda Gustavsson. The analysis explores texts that describe sexual assaults and reveals positions of power and male dominance. Not only male physical violence, even social norms and social power relations prevent women from resistance. The texts express female frustration and discontent about having to accept being an object of male dominance.

#MeToo-rörelsens förändring : -Vänsterpartiet och Moderaternas kriminalpolitik innan och efter Me Too

Bolin, Nici January 2021 (has links)
One of the major debates in Swedish politics today is violence in close relationships and against women and children. The debate has grown stronger since 2017 when Me Too revolutionized the world. This study is analyzed from a structural perspective, where Me Too is a social movement and whether it has influenced or somehow changed the criminal policy of Vänsterpartiet and Moderaterna. The focus will lay on sexual crimes. The study intends to analyze the parties' criminal policy with a focus on sexual crime issues between the years 2013 to 2020 to see if Me Too after 2017 has created change. For this study, selected motions have been taken from the parliament website and presented in an analysis. That material also accounts for the central parts of this study. As a theory for this thesis, the structure and actor model will apply. Here, Me Too stands as structure and the parties as actors. With the help of the model, the outcome of the policy should be studied over time. The structure and actors model is applied in the results in the analysis of the parties' motions. The study will seek answers to two questions. These two are, What are the similarities and differences between the criminal policy of Vänsterpartiet and Moderaterna when it comes to sexual crimes. As a concluding discussion question, the study tries to develop whether the social movement Me Too has made any impact on the parties' criminal policy regarding sexual crimes. The conclusion of this study is that the parties differ as Vänsterpartiet is based on a feminist ideology and wants to see old norms and social structures in the form of patriarchy broken. Moderates including the debate as an integration problem. They both agree that Me Too has created change for women both in Sweden and worldwide and helped direct the spotlight on this societal problem. /

"I Just Signed Your Death Warrant": A Content Analysis of News Media Coverage of Violent Crimes Against Women in the #MeToo Era

Kane, Emma January 2021 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Alyssa Goldman / This study analyzes the narratives that emerged in the news media’s coverage of violent crimes against women during the #MeToo Movement. Additionally, it seeks to uncover if and how news media crime coverage differed based on the race of defendants. I conduct a content analysis of the news media coverage of the criminal cases State of Michigan v. Lawrence Gerard Nassar and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. William Henry Cosby, Jr. during the #MeToo Movement. I find that news media coverage of violent crimes against women typically exhibits an inverse relationship in which supportive portrayals of victims predict unsupportive portrayals of defendants, and vice versa. I also find some evidence to suggest that Black male defendants receive more lenient news media coverage than white male defendants. The results of this study demonstrate the power of social movements in influencing criminal justice outcomes and the news media’s role in shaping public opinion on criminal cases. / Thesis (BA) — Boston College, 2021. / Submitted to: Boston College. Surviving to Transform: Six Cases of Gay Men Who Experienced Adult Rape and Their Learning Towards Post-Traumatic Growth

Torres, Steven David January 2022 (has links)
The #MeToo movement was established as a grassroots initiative in Brooklyn by Tarana Burke, as a way to bring awareness to the commonality of sexual violence towards African American women. Despite the awareness brought by the movement, it was virtually not inclusive of men who have experienced sexual violence. This study intends to provide educators an understanding of this phenomenon, as well as provide practitioners, scholars, and organizations supporting gay male rape survivors a qualitative perspective beneficial to enhance support systems in order to foster post-traumatic growth. This study answered questions of how participants described their experience of having been raped; how learning revealed itself during the participants’ journey towards post-traumatic growth; and what factors participants described that helped and/or hindered their ability to manage the experience, learn, and develop towards post-traumatic growth. Six individual in-depth cases are presented; each participating in a two-hour interview. Using Lifelines and Nohl’s (2015) five phase analysis of the unfolding of deep learning over time, this study demonstrated that Transformative Learning revealed itself throughout each of these cases. As described by O’Sullivan et al. (2002), Transformative learning is “[an] experiencing [of] a deep, structural shift in the basic premises of thought, feeling, and actions. It is a shift of consciousness that dramatically and permanently alters our way of being in the world. Such a shift involves our understanding of ourselves and our self-locations; our relationships with other humans and with the natural world; our understanding of relations of power in interlocking structures of class, race, and gender; our body-awareness; our visions of alternative approaches to living; and our sense of the possibilities for social justice and peace and personal joy.” The study provides insight into the various systems and social relationships that help and/or hinder the interviewees’ learning experience, as well as how they managed their lives along the way. Moreover, this study demonstrates that Transformative Learning can take over 20-years, as well as that the process requires recalibration after encountering obstacles as learners journeyed towards post-traumatic growth.

The Influence of #MeToo on Sexual Assault Survivors' Decision Making and Health Behaviors: A Qualitative Inquiry

McNair, Katelyn Tulp January 2022 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Holly B. Fontenot / Sexual assault is a national public health problem, yet there is a dearth of information about how and why survivors disclose and obtain post sexual assault healthcare in the era of social media campaigns. This study examined the influence of #MeToo on sexual assault survivors’ decision-making post assault, including formal disclosures to health providers and formal health seeking behaviors. The research question is “what are the patterns of sexual assault survivors’ disclosure and health seeking behaviors in the era of #MeToo?” A qualitative, exploratory descriptive study was undertaken to understand the influence of #MeToo on a survivor’s decision to disclose sexual assault and obtain health care. With the use of online focus groups, 56 participants’ stories were shared, and four salient themes emerged. These results were the first to provide insight into how an online social media movement (#MeToo) influenced offline health behaviors. The knowledge gained from this study advanced nursing science focused on the care of sexual assault survivors. Additionally, findings informed intervention strategies such as developing targeted public health campaigns that capitalize on online social movements to impact offline behaviors. / Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2022. / Submitted to: Boston College.

Svensson, Kristina January 2020 (has links)
Sexual harassments and conflicts among students are problems both within and outside schools. This became clear in conjunction with the #metoo -call that started 2017 when the whole world became engaged in this question. Although schools do work with these questions, a report made by Skolverket (2017) states that there is a lot to improve. Lack of teachers know how and lack of continuously contributions are two of the things that have to be improved to gain long time skills for the students. Two of our aims in the Swedish school curriculum are to provide good learning opportunities and to ensure that no one should be discriminated due to their sex, ethnicity or religion. The ordinary teachers sometimes find it hard to reach their students and achieve necessary changes to avoid these kinds of discriminations. Therefor some schools use external educators as a complement. In this study I present the results from interviews with four external educators in sexuality education in school. One of my questions is what they focus on during their sessions with teachers and students to get a picture of how the content connects to the curriculum. Another question is what experiences the external educators have from working with schools to increase the competence of teachers. Many reports make the conclusion that the work with students, to provide a better social climate in school, needs to be done by many actors during time. This study is no exception. The external educators that I have interviewed often only met the teachers one time so they could not say anything about what long term impact they have made. First of all, it became very clear in this study, that the principals are one of the most important persons in the work to reach the goals in the curriculum. Secondly, despite the content in curriculum and reports of what has to be done in schools and the ambitions of teachers there are still differences in this part of the education for students and the use of the competence of external educators are used rather randomly.
