Vardagslyx

Dickson, Caroline, Lindblad, Linnéa, Matschy, Alexandra January 2009 (has links)
Our purpose with this research has been to obtain a deeper insight and understanding for the phenomenon and term “weekday-luxury.” Through our research, we have found a link between value, service, brands and consumer behaviour into a relationship that we termed “weekday-luxury.” This link of values is particularly interesting to us and we are curious about the underlying motivation to “weekday-luxury” and the driving forces underlying the phenomenon. We have noticed in society that people need something extra in their daily lives and we attempt to speculate where their perceived value lies through the concept of “weekday-luxury." Our goal is to determine a deeper understanding and insight into this phenomenon and how it meets our needs through an identifiable pattern. We also analyze the nature of “weekday-luxury” and its meaning. This essay further focuses on peoples effort to “treat ourselves” from which we have chosen a market-oriented perspective, as well as a quantitative method, from which we have performed eight personal interviews and three mail interviews.

The Implicit Link of Luxury and Self-Interest: The Influence of Luxury Objects on Social Motivation and Cooperative Behaviour

Chen, Angel 30 October 2015 (has links)
Despite growing concerns for environmental crisis and the recent economic downturns, worldwide appetite for luxury goods has remained stable and has even grown dramatically in some countries. Luxury goods implicitly convey certain meanings and norms. What are psychological and behavioural consequences of exposure to luxuries? In this proposal, I argue that exposure to luxury goods increases cognitive accessibility of constructs relate to self-interest and subsequently affects social judgments and behaviour. I aim to establish a theoretical conjunction between (a) anthropology’s study of material culture, which focuses on material evidence in attributing human cultures, and (b) psychology’s priming technique, which examines the effects of activated cognitive representations on psychological responding. Accordingly, three studies were conducted to investigate the implicit link of luxury and self-interest. The results showed that exposure to luxury primes automatically activated mental associations relate to self-interest and subsequently increased one’s propensity to allocate more resources to oneself relative to another person (study 1), caused some harvesters to defect in a multi-stage N-person commons dilemma (study 2), but did not necessarily induce unethical behaviour aimed to harm others (study 3). Research about the psychological effects of luxury goods are important because luxuries are implicitly embedded in institutional settings and organizational environments in which negotiations are typically conducted and resource allocation decisions are made. / Graduate / 0621 / 0623 / 0451 / angelch@uvic.ca

Vartotojų elgsenos ypatumai: prabangos prekių kontekstas / The peculiarities of the customer behavior: the aspect of the luxury

Butkutė, Raimonda 26 September 2008 (has links)
The peculiarities of the luxury goods customer behavior are analysed in this paper. Svenskt lyxmode : ett nytt modeunder? / Swedish luxury fashion : The challenges of beeing a swedish fashion on the french market

Jönsson, Émilie, Karlsson, Johanna January 1900 (has links)
Expanding a business into international markets poses some significant financial risks, but also presents business opportunities for a fashion entrepreneur. The French fashion market is one of the most powerful in the world, which makes the market important for fashion entrepreneurs. The market is characterized by luxury goods, but few Swedish fashion entrepreneurs succeed with establishment in the luxury segment. This thesis aims to examine the challenges that might arise when entering the french market and luxury segment as a swedish fashion entrepreneaur. The major focus of the study is international entrepreneurship, and the reserach has been carried out to benefit the wider industry. In order to perform the research a combination of the qualitative and quantiative approach has been used. Internationalization processes, general establishment theories of international entrepreneurship and definitions of the luxury market and luxury segmentation are presented. The qualitative data was collected through three in-depth interviews. The interviews were held with one professor, one swedish company established as a luxury company on the frenchmarket, and one swedish fashion company in the higher price segment that has been established on the french market. The quantiative data was collected through a questionnarie put out to 20 new-established fashion companies in the higher price segment. The results show that there is indeed a correspondance between luxury segmentation and establishment on the french market and establishement on international markets in Europe. But, the long history of luxury segmentation in France have resulted in institutions and frameworks for fashion luxury companies and the luxury industry. These facts can mean both opportunities and challenges for swedish fashion entrepreneurs.

Bacichetto, Vinícius de Vargas 19 December 2012 (has links)
Submitted by Marcelo Teixeira (mvteixeira@ucs.br) on 2014-04-28T13:31:57Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Vinicius de Vargas Bacichetto.pdf: 5137263 bytes, checksum: 5ced3a3cb6cfeb23ea3de82a2500c20d (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2014-04-28T13:31:57Z (GMT). With the evolution of marketing over the years many changes and improvements were necessary for the marketing would contribute to the development and growth of organizations, as well as encouraging the consumption market. With this understanding of consumer behavior is important to know and understand the needs and desires of the consumer and also the behavior of supply and demand. In this respect, consumer behavior covers a system image configuration consisting of the inter-relationship, explanations and experiences (emotional and rational) consumer with the environment so that an image is generated in the mind of the customer. Furthermore, it is important to know how the consumer decides to buy, what external factors that influence this imaging in cognitive. In this sense social classes are highlighted, as each product is created for specific market niches. This research highlights the luxury seeking a relationship between the factors and thus arises the research problem: What is the affinity between brand image, quality, engagement, image price and perceived value in relation to the purchase intent? To answer this question, the research stopped in quantitative research and, through an experiment, studied consumer behavior in relation to perfume MEN 212 and 212 Sexy, perfumes featured luxury. Experience and authenticity became important aspects in the field: consumers are enjoying more material comfort and there is a trend of a cultural shift for personal fulfillment and aspiration through experience. The biggest challenge for today's luxury marketers is to not only talk to the target, but to understand how the target is shifting, while not alienating consumers and damaging the brand´s image. Considering managers and consumers perspectives separately, it would be possible to conclude that their perceptions are congruent, as many studies have presented. However, if perspectives are put together and compared, different realities could emerge. This exploratory research is based on a case study that describes both perspectives of their perception on luxury experience, consumer behavior and consumption motivations, and luxury retailing. It was developed interviews with the brand owner and 10 brand´s consumers, and also indirect observations in the brands distribution formats. In the brand perspective, the case study has shown that luxury experience involves the construction of brand experience strategy based on products, multiple retail channels, consumer engagement, personal activity, exploration of five senses and other forms. In the consumer´s perspective, results revealed that brand consumers interviwed have different luxury experience perceptions and expectations; however, what is common is that service and quality must be maintained and they reflected the overall experience. Additionally, luxury retailing influences directly the consumer´s perception that must integrate multiple channels to fulfill personal demands. The research makes contributions for both actors - brand and consumer, in the sense that translates theoretical concepts of the experience itself and tries to clarify aspects that are still unknown and explored through the exploration of ways to detect the alignment between brand and consumer expectations of the experience. [en] MEANINGS OF NEW LUXURY: A STUDY ABOUT THE BRAND NESPRESSO AND ITS CONSUMERS / [pt] SIGNIFICADOS DO NOVO LUXO: UM ESTUDO SOBRE A MARCA NESPRESSO E SEUS CONSUMIDORES

MARCELA MARIA GALLINAL CUENCA 04 January 2010 (has links)
[en] Over the last two decades the luxury market has undergone a major transformation. In particular, we have witnessed the emergence of a so-called new luxury market by the authors. This new market comprises the masstige movement, which designates the initiatives taken by some mass production companies to try to reach demanding high-income customers by offering them more sophisticated products (COSTA, 2008). This is a promising market in terms of profitability, and is also a very challenging. It seeks to combine the characteristics of luxury brands and products with mass production, which is unusual in the luxury market. The new luxury requires a strong understanding of customers’ behavior and their purchase motivations (SILVERSTEIN e FISKE, 2003). An analysis of the strategy adopted by the Nespresso brand, launched by Nestlé in 1976, which is well-positioned in the luxury market and representative of the masstige trend, is carried out in the present research. Its main purpose is to shed light on the perceptions and motivations of ‘new luxury’ consumers, by investigating customers of the Nespresso brand, their definitions of brand value and their concept of luxury. Thus, a description of the Nespresso case based on documental research, and a qualitative research based on in-depth interviews with brand consumers were carried out. The results present a comparative analysis between the values associated to the Nespresso brand and those associated to the concept of luxury. From the market view, they can contribute to Nespresso management as well as to the management of other brands inserted in the masstige movement. From a theoretical view, they bring insights on the meaning of luxury and its relationships with the offers of the companies in this segment.

Frasson, Marcela Serro January 2013 (has links)
This thesis addresses the consumer behavior in a market segment that has been outstanding over the last few decades: that one related to luxury goods. Taking into account the importance of feelings in understanding consumer behavior, and considering that until now few studies on luxury consumption were dedicated exclusively to this subject, the purpose of this thesis was to understand the consequences of luxury consumption for the consumers, focusing on the feelings aroused by consumption. As a research method, it was decided to carry out an exploratory study, which employed the use of in-depth interviews combined with autodriving technique, through photos and objects elicitation. 22 consumers of luxury products with ages between 22 and 60 years were interviewed. The focus of the interviews fell on the following categories of luxury goods: jewelry, clothing, accessories, perfumery and cosmetics. In the interviews, 111 different kinds of feelings were identified as resulting from the consumption of luxury goods, which were then grouped into 10 categories: feelings related to pleasure, feelings related to affection, feelings related to distinction, feelings related to beauty, feelings related to desire, feelings related to personal fulfillment, feelings related to safety, feelings related to the esteem of others, contradictory feelings and feelings related to the lack of these goods. 4 aspects of luxury consumption related to these feelings were also identified: consumption rituals and objects worship, the association of luxury consumption with getting out of routine and going into "another world", the appreciation of brands’ tradition and history, and the inheritance of objects across generations.

Rolls-Royce and the Future of Luxury Mobility

Östman, Ludwig January 2018 (has links)
The topic of the project has been about the future of luxury mobility and how the brand Rolls-Royce could evolve alongthe technological advancements until the year 2038. As luxury is changing from being about possession to the experience of luxury, the goal was to design a vehicle that could support both new internal and external experiences about the vehicle. The identified obstacle that could limit the scope of new experi- ences in an autonomous vehicle is motion sickness. As cities grow and technology develops the future cities are crowded so personal space, and privacy is being limited.During the process, the tools used varied from form explora- tion through sketching, concept principle testing and finalization in 3d software as well as visualization tools to communicate the proposed solutions. Working out of the Rolls-Royce designstudio provided brand insight but also expertise in the field of color & materials as well as advice on engineering solutions from the design team. The result Rolls-Royce Luxe Nomad is a vehicle for exploring the world outside the urban areas. Going far and beyond in search of new and unique experiences but also making the trip there as enjoyable as possible. The concept provides a solution inspired by high-speed trains that could limit those effects. Through understanding the future customers need of privacy a method of controlling the amount of insight was developed to enhance the user experience and giving them an increased sense of control of their space.
