The Future of Communication: Artificial Intelligence and Social Networks

Papadimitriou, Aristea January 2016 (has links)
The rapid evolution of technology and social media has brought significant changes to human communication. Since the efficiency of social networks depends mainly on the processing of their huge amount of collected data, they are all in search not only of the latest artificial intelligence but also of the creation of more evolved one. Advertising, digital marketing and customer service of social media is in the first line for this demand, yet the rapid progress in the AI field constantly change the ways of communication and the ramifications of this change are more than modern society can absorb and reflect on. This paper focuses on the latest innovations of AI in the social networks and the impact of AI on society and personhood.

Distansarbete i mediebranschen : En studie om medarbetares motivation / Teleworking in the media industry : A study of employee motivation

Forsberg, Simon, Sundström, Andreas January 2022 (has links)
At the end of 2019, the covid-19 pandemic broke out, which led to an increased amount of teleworking for companies and their employees at the same time as the use of digital communication tools increased. Teleworking has led companies and organizations to design new working methods and strategies so that the operations can continue without the employees' motivation suffering. This study contains motivation theories, what impact teleworking has on employees' motivation and what consequences this will have on the future work situation in the media industry. Through qualitative interviews and a survey aimed at employees in the media industry, a broader perspective has emerged in the subject. The study's conclusion shows that there are challenges regarding the implementation of telework and the use of digital communication tools, but that it can lead to advantages in certain aspects due to different ways. Finally, the study has also shown that teleworking has led to a changed work situation in the form of a hybrid variant of on-site work and teleworking.

Rubin, Cajsa January 2024 (has links)
A Tourist information center exists to provide visitors with relevant information about the destination as well as to improve and adapt the visit to the visitors personal preferences. In conjunction with the development of digital communication, the visitors approach to accessing tourist information has changed. The availability of tourist information have made tourist developers to begin speculate about the physical tourist information center, if they in the future will keep providing information and services in its current state. This essay is a qualitative study with the purpose of examining how physical tourist information center in the future will be affected by digital communication in their daily operations. This study is to understand how and if tourist information center can still exist in the future with digital communication in its current state. Qualititative interviews where implemented with selected stakeholders to identify what kind of impact digital communication has on tourist information center daily activities. Two different organisations are represented to better understand how tourist information centers can work with digital communications in the future. The result implies that tourist information center are using digital communication differently. They have different points of views about their future work with digital communication. The majority of the respondents point out that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will have a greater purpose in their ways to provide information to the visitors. To increase the attractiveness of tourist information centers with the help of digital communication the AI chat GPT needs to provide more quality assured tourist information. The cooperation between tourist information centers and other tourism companies need to make the tourist information centers more available as a tourist information source. The consistent pattern of this study is that tourist information centers need to work with digital communication that can provide personal and market neutral information and works as an extension of their current business. The conclusion shows that tourist information centers need to implement digital communication to strengthen their attractivity among future visitors. For it to be seen as an attractive source of tourist information centers, it needs to exist in the digital channels that visitors are using. /
2024-05-29

Impact of Strategic Communication on Fan Loyalty: A Case Study of Karmine Corp in Esport

Chalvin, Augustin January 2024 (has links)
This thesis studies the communication of the "Karmine Corp" through its social networks. The Karmine Corp, or KCORP, is a French esports team founded in 2020 and based in Paris, France. Founded by streamers, it is now the most popular team in France and one of the best-known in Europe. The team's history of success has made it popular on social networks. The comparison between esports (digital competition) and 'classic' sports is also discussed, with arguments put forward by researchers from all sides, enabling us to reflect on the future place or not of esports in sporting competitions. The central theme of this thesis is the analysis of the team's communication and its influence on the current and future evolution of the esports industry. The team's modern communication strategy, based on the fans' satisfaction and loyalty, differs from anything done before in this field, and it can explain the team's popularity. By analyzing the team's social network evolution and specific key posts by doing a netnography, comparing the media evolution of the players before and after they joined the club, and surveying committed fans, this study provides a wealth of data that demonstrates the revolution that KCORP is bringing to the world of esports and the impact of a committed community on a field who need credit to exist.

Architectures innovantes de systèmes de commandes de vol / Innovative Architectures of Flight Control Systems

Sghairi Haouati, Manel 27 May 2010 (has links)
The current civil aircraft's electrical flight control has been changed to take benefit of technical improvements. New technologies, when mature, can be incorporated in aircrafts. Evolutions are considered towards a digital communication and intelligent actuators. This thesis is aiming at proposing alternative architectures with distribution of system functionality between flight control computers and actuators with less hardware and software resources. New architectures must meet the same safety and availability requirements with additional operational reliability (required by airlines). Dependability and robustness of new architectures have been validated trough respectively OCAS / AltaRica and Matlab / Simulink

Patients’ Communication with Primary Care: A Pre-study for a new communication system

Lauret, Fanny, Härdig, Stephanie January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore patients’ experiences and preferences concerning communication with primary care, as well as their attitude towards a future digital system to manage communication. The Swedish county councils and municipalities (SKL) is developing a new digital tool as a complement in the communication between patients and physicians, thus this research is a preliminary investigation of a larger approach. The research has been based on 20 semi-structured interviews with patients in ages between 21 and 86 from 13 different health care centers in Sweden. The interviews indicate that the communication between patients and physicians needs development in numerous ways and that the system used by the primary care contributes to negative outcomes in the communication. Patients’ attitudes towards a new digital system to manage communication were investigated and a majority was positive. The study’s results pointed out the importance of the physicians’ attitudes in the physician-patient communication, and brought some possible improvements to be done in the actual primary care system; as for example implementing new communication channels to allow an easier contact of patients with their health care center. The new communication tool was overall well received and even appeared to be a suitable solution for some of the problems discovered along the patients’ journey. The overall results obtained are positive and promising towards its implementation in Sweden.

Community Policing with support of digitalcommunication channels

Kallin, Maria January 2019 (has links)
While today's police forces are decreasing in number and their resources are limited, population is at the same time increasing. This means that other types of efforts and strategies are needed to fight crime. There are different strategies to do this, one of which is called community policing that involves proactive cooperation between citizens and the police to deal with the problems. Traditionally, community policing meant that a local police in the neighbourhood called for physical meetings, where citizens and police together raised problems and discussed solutions to these. With today's limited resources, there is little possibilities for the police to execute this kind of physical collaboration and meetings. On the other hand, another meeting place has been added (the one online) and an alternative way to implement community policing may be online. With digital channels for this purpose, there may also be an opportunity to reach groups of citizens that the police have not reached before, but in order to do so, it requires work and a use of these digital channels in the right way according to community policing. The purpose of this paper is to investigate what challenges and requirements that needs to be taken into consideration when implementing community policing with the support of digital communication channels. For this purpose, qualitative research in the form of literature studies and semi-structured interviews were conducted. Findings show there are a lot of challenges and requirements to consider and there are guidelines in the analysis and discussion section, to help begin to implement this way of working. The practical implications for this thesis may help police improving their relationships with citizens in vulnerable areas to be able to cooperate according to community policing to make these areas a better and safer place to live.

Startups digitais: a travessia na zona cinzenta / Digital Startups: The Passage through the Grey Zone

Santos, Ana Patricia Santana dos 11 October 2016 (has links)
Digital startups occur as phenomena of the Internet Society and a deep and qualitative change in relationships between people, places and things. Their production flows reveal an intense transitivity of production spaces, a permanent leading role with new digital technologies, and mobilization of the body as a productive machine. This research deals with the creation of startups in their initial phase. That is, in those moments of idealization of thoughts that relate idea and action, that specify the movement of their creators, here called New Idealists, on a high criticality path through what is called a Grey zone. Starting from the points of ideation-prediction and experimentation-creation, the research produces reflections on the art of this entrepreneurship in an embryo situation. With the goal of interweaving their actions in this passage, the research performs a monitoring process in areas where startups act, mapping concepts that pulsate with intensity along this course. The theories that contextualize this new production mode, in which immaterial labor dominates, reference the paths of research, placing knowledge as the main productive force. To understand this passage, the research navigated the doings of startups, observing from inside the movements of production, the language, the activation of the communication machines. In following the desires and exposing \'cases\' of actions, this research points to the phenomenon of startups as a new entrepreneurship, markedly digital, ecosystemic and communicative.

The digital local of cultures - the interaction between cultures, digital media and territories

Pereira, Eliete da Silva 10 April 2013 (has links)
In the interior of the extensive process of digital conversion, which is characterized by a qualitative dynamic phenomenon and by socio-cultural transformation, an important process of digital transformation of ethnic groups is diffused, in various contexts and by diverse modalities. Such reality is responsible not only for a process of digital translation of wisdom and local cultures, but, at the same time, for the implementation of an important process of alteration of the dwelling conditions of these cultures. In fact, in connecting with digital networks, a community expands its territory and ecosystem, extending it by a means of a dynamic metageography which connects it to other contexts and cultures and to other worlds. Thus is created a complex ecosystem which reticularly unites the involved groups, their cultures, their territories, to digital informational circuits through a singular dynamism of techno-living-communication. In this sense, the object of the research which resulted in this thesis was the investigation of the process of digital transformation, deriving from the relationship between \"cultures, digital media and territories\" - inspired by the concept of Dwelling (HEIDEGGER, 1954; ABRUZZESE, 2006; DI FELICE, 2009). For this we realized an experimental research based on immersion, interaction, in observation, in interpretation, and the comparison of the experiences which are reticularly developed, proposing, therefore, a theoretical reading in terms of the \"digital local of cultures\". Such objective was reached by the description of the associative dynamisms of its actor-networks (LATOUR, 2004, 2012), by means of a comparative study of two exemplary cases. The Network of the People of the Forests understand the digital transformation of cultures and territories of communities situated in the Amazon region; and the e-diaspora of the Kabyla people, descendants of Berbers (Amazigh) of the north of Algeria, actually spread throughout the world and connected by digital networks. In the first case, this transformation signified, besides the dissemination of the traditional wisdom of the People of the Forest, the creation of an emerging complex informational ecosystem (MORIN, 2001), which extends its rich biodiversity to a techno-informational dimension. In the case of the Kabyla \"e-diaspora\", this transformation provided an informational ecosystem which made possible the reunion, the dissemination, and the translation of the information flows through digital media. The study and analysis of these two cases permits us to problematize the social context, opening us to a reticular perspective and connection of this social context.

No. of bitstreams: 2 Heloyse_ Rossi_2018.pdf: 11853805 bytes, checksum: c9714d90ddb5b2c8134a833f815ea8e6 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2019-02-06 / The smartphones have become a vital part of human life, their great expansion and modernization make people connect in cyberspace from the moment they wake up until the time they go to sleep. Taking this into account, the educational processes can create strategies so that this everyday use of smartphones can be converted, at least in parts, into Learning activities. This dissertation, called English for Everybody and Everywhere: Connections and Convergences, linked to the research line Language: Linguistic, Cultural and Teaching Practices in the Master of Art from the State University of the West of Paraná (UNIOESTE), proposes the use of four smartphone applications, Let's Learn English, Duolingo, LyTrans English, and WhatsApp, in the process of English Language Learning, aiming to approach learning to the reality of 21st century students, in order to provide a more creative, interactive and dynamic environment in the classroom, in a process of convergence that establishes connections between students, teachers, cyberspace and their knowledge. This study is an action research with a qualitative approach, in which the researcher assumed the role of teacher, developing practical activities in the applications for smartphone, mentioned above, with a group of high school students from a public school in the city of Cascavel - PR. At the end of the activities with the applications in the school, the research used as data generation, besides the reflections on the practice, an interview with the regent teacher of the selected class, who participated as a listener of all the classes, a diagnostic questionnaire with the students involved and a journal, containing all the observations and impressions of the practice developed with the students. With the research, we sought to verify the possibility of smartphones being used as another way to access information that through integration and interactivity should become an additional knowledge in the students' lives. In the activities developed in the classroom with the selected group, we based ourselves on all the theoretical contribution described in the initial part of the text, and we based on concepts and theories of renowned authors in the area, such as: the Learning of Assmann (1999) and Dal Molin (2003); the importance of planning activities based on the advances of cyberspace and cyberculture, as Lévy points out (1999) and the influences of the culture of convergence in this scenario, according to Jenkins (2009); the characteristics of a rhizomatic teaching that creates maps and escape from from the tree models and decals, based on the theory of Deleuze and Guattari (1995); the new relations with knowledge that emerge from the age of cyberspace, with a collective intelligence and a teacher who passes from the only holder of the knowledge to animator and supervisor of this intelligence, in a process of flipped learning, based on the studies of Lévy (1998b), Moran (2015), Prensky (2001) and others; the advantages that mobile learning can bring both within the classroom and beyond the school environment, following UNESCO (2014), Motter (2013), Souza (2012) among other authors who collaborated for the present study.
