Previous issue date: 2013-10-28 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This paper addresses the way how the subject is treated aesthetics of aging and aesthetics of existence in academia. The strategy used was to Bibliographic Search through the collection of data of the journal Academic Kairos - PUC / SP, published from 1998 to 2012. Given the importance that the issues related to body image and to care for themselves are getting in the media and the biopsychosocial context, it has become essential that the academy contributed to the themes: aesthetics of aging - related to the aging body, and aesthetics of existence - referring to the stylized and creative ways to grow old, posing a major challenge for the humanities. Research on body aesthetics, until very recently, were neglected, however, have raised considerable interest on the part of the Humanities and related fields, based on the growing Western cultural manifestations that overvalue keep the body young. Given this concern, there are also issues related to the well-being, considering the subjectivity of the subject, with respect to "self care" in envelhecimento.Os articles analyzed in this dissertation were written by authors from different areas of knowledge, demonstrating how the above theme begins to move the locus of academic production and its importance within the Gerontology / Este trabalho aborda a forma de como é tratado o tema estética do envelhecimento e estética da existência no universo acadêmico. A estratégia metodológica utilizada foi a Pesquisa Bibliográfica, por meio da coleta de dados dos artigos da Revista Acadêmica Kairos PUC/SP, publicados de 1998 a 2012. Diante da importância que os temas ligados ao corpo, à imagem e ao cuidado de si, vêm adquirindo nas mídias e no contexto biopsicossocial, tornou-se essencial que a academia contribuísse para as temáticas: estética do envelhecimento - relacionado ao corpo que envelhece; e estética da existência referindo-se às formas criativas e estilizadas de se envelhecer, constituindo um grande desafio para as ciências humanas. As pesquisas sobre estética corporal, até há bem pouco tempo, eram negligenciadas; no entanto, vêm suscitando considerável interesse por parte das Ciências Humanas e áreas correlatas, tomando por base as crescentes manifestações culturais do Ocidente que supervalorizam manter o corpo jovem. Diante dessa preocupação, surgem também questões relacionadas ao bem-estar, considerando a subjetividade dos sujeitos, no que tange ao cuidado de si no envelhecimento.Os artigos analisados nesta dissertação foram escritos por autores de diversas áreas do conhecimento, demonstrando como o referido tema começa a habitar o lócus da produção acadêmica e sua importância dentro da Gerontologia

Syfte: Att analysera hur Aftonbladet använde olika strategier och retoriska begrepp under rapporteringen av svininfluensan, samt hur mediers makt kan beskrivas utifrån Foucaults teori. Teori: Medieretorik, encoding/decoding, budskapsstrategier, diskursteori, diskursens makt Metod: Kritiskt granskande analyser i form av kritisk diskursanalys och kritisk retorikanalys. Resultat: Aftonbladet använder sig utav medvetna eller omedvetna strategier och retoriska begrepp för att sända ut ett visst budskap. Makten att kunna försöka påverka kan, enligt Foucaults teori, komma ifrån staten i första hand. Därför är användningen utav strategier och retoriska begrepp nödvändig för att bibehålla makten att kunna försöka påverka och övertyga läsarna.

The Kairos Document ('KD' or 'Document') burst onto the socio-political and ecclesiastical scene in South Africa in 1985, presenting to churches, communities-of-faith and individuals the challenge of a decisive moment in the history of Christian opposition to Apartheid. The nature and extent of reactions and responses to the document exceeded the authors wildest
dreams and most optimistic of expectations. This study traces the contours and discerns the patterns of reactions against and resonances with the Document in South Africa and within the international ecumenical community. The main focus of this research, however, is on the propensity and capacity of the institutionalised churches - and in particular the English-speaking churches in South Africa - to respond positively and constructively to a prophetic challenge, such that which emanated from the KD and the subsequent Kairos movement. One of the English-speaking churches, the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA), is singled out in this thesis and subjected to an extended examination and analysis, relative to its response to the challenge of the Document. The main reason for this special reference to the UCCSA is that this church denomination had embarked on a major process of ecclesiastical and denominational transformation in its response to the challenge of Kairos. It is 'upon this process of transformation within the UCCSA that I seek to critically reflect and to draw some learnings from the prophetic legacy of the Document.
The UCCSA also happens to be the church denomination in which I have been nurtured in Christian faith, practice and ministry. The work, worship and witness of this church is therefore the primary frame of reference and ecclesiastical context in which my own prophetic consciousness has been awakened and shaped. I am, as such, acutely aware that my research on the responses to the KD by the UCCSA is being undertaken from the perspectives of an insider and that my passion for and commitment to the prophetic role of the Church makes me no neutral observer. It is my contention, however, that the above factors neither compromise nor diminish the academic credibility and ecumenical significance of this study. On the contrary, my strategic positioning within the UCCSA enables me to undertake such research from a privileged vantage point of first-hand
experience, readily accessible data and greater understanding which derives from such close proximity. <p>In today’s interconnected world, public health crises like COVID-19 have a widespread impact, transcending national borders, causing economic upheaval, the loss of trillions of dollars from the gross domestic product (GDP), and significant disruptions to health systems, and forcing millions of individuals into poverty. While countries may differ in their responses to these crises, their shared objective is to mitigate the damage and ultimately bring an end to the outbreak. Public health experts play a crucial role in these efforts, utilizing rhetorical strategies to effectively communicate with the public about the pandemic. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci in the United States and Dr. Wenhong Zhang in China emerged as revered figures, leading public health experts, and adept communicators in addressing the risks posed by the pandemic in their respective countries. This dissertation investigates the rhetorical practices of Dr. Zhang and Dr. Fauci in their communications about the pandemic to their respective publics. Employing a case study approach, contextualized comparative rhetoric as an inquiry method, and computer-assisted qualitative rhetorical analysis, this dissertation identifies the similarities and differences in the rhetorical strategies adopted by the two doctors. The findings reveal that both doctors utilize similar rhetorical tools, including ethos, kairos, narratives, and metaphors, to effectively communicate about the pandemic to the public. However, they also exhibit differences influenced by contextual factors such as political, social, and cultural contexts. These findings contribute to our understanding of the role of rhetoric in public health experts’ communications about the pandemic in different countries during a global public health crisis.</p>

psycopathology were a teaching that lode of Carl G. Jung, when the
schizophrenia composed its workmanship taking as paradigm. This
proposal was taken ahead by James Hillman, extending it for any types
of psychic suffering: he suggested that let us see each one as a
conscience style, with a proposal ethical and aesthetic that belongs to
the suffering and not to its carrier.
To compose a clinic that understands the integrant pathology as
something in the life and of the life, instead of something to be
terminated or to be cured. For this the Kairós Clinic-Workshop was
created. As therapeutics, the carried through artisan work in set with a
group of carriers of mental riots was chosen. The objective was built to
excite a space of making, creating, to coexist, in contraposition to the
usual inactivity, paralysis and isolation in the life of this population.
An unfolding of this project resulted in one critical retaken of the
consecrated clinical procedures and pointed ways to compose other
clinics. For this, it is necessary to give passage and listening to the
speeches of the psycopathology, instead of, only, diagnosing them or
analyzing them / Pensar e construir uma clínica psicológica a partir da
psicopatologia foi um ensinamento que veio de Carl G. Jung, quando
compôs sua obra tomando a esquizofrenia como paradigma. Esta
proposta foi levada adiante por James Hillman, ampliando-a para
quaisquer tipos de sofrimento psíquico: sugeriu que vejamos cada um
como um estilo de consciência, com uma proposta ética e estética que
pertence ao sofrimento e não ao seu portador.
Compor uma clínica que compreenda a patologia como algo
integrante na vida e da vida, ao invés de algo a ser extirpado ou
sanado. Para isto foi criada a Clínica-Oficina Kairós. Como terapêutica,
foi escolhido o trabalho artesanal realizado em conjunto com um grupo
de portadores de distúrbios mentais. O objetivo era suscitar um espaço
do fazer, criar, conviver, em contraposição à inatividade, paralisia e
isolamento costumeiros na vida desta população.
Um desdobramento deste projeto resultou em um uma retomada
crítica dos procedimentos clínicos consagrados e apontou caminhos para
compor outras clínicas. Para isto, é necessário dar passagem e escuta
aos discursos da psicopatologia, ao invés de, apenas, diagnosticá-los ou
analisá-los

It focuses on the passage of time in people‟s life, considering the articulation of chronological time and kairos time. The researcher who has been a journalist since the 1980s interviewed six journalists with the written press of the city of São Paulo; firstly, with the purpose of analyzing, through the testimonies and her own experience, the relationship between these communication professionals and the way they age in the professional environment; secondly, in order to understand in a broader way the meanings of old age and aging in the social context.
In the case of Journalism, in the 1980s and 1990s, the researcher could witness, in the condition of a novice in the area, remarkable events in the history of the press in Brazil, not only from the political point of view (post-dictatorship), but also from the technological standpoint, with a series of changes in the printed media sector, especially with the inclusion, in large newspaper companies, of digital machines, and, consequently, with the replacement of many editing professionals in a broader way. The tensions of that moment were observed in her working environment, and they led her to think for the first time about her aging and that of the group in which she was entering as a novice. A group of journalists that was divided in a sharp way, mainly due to the difference in generations that of the younger journalists (between 25 and 40 years of age) and that of the older journalists (50 years and older). In addition, the researcher could take a close look on how the journalists, mainly the older ones, dealt with the imposition of new technological equipment in the newsrooms and how they were seen and treated when they were not familiarized with the new working tools. As investigation strategy, a qualitative methodology was used, with semi-structured interviews directed at these six professionals, who were freely chosen by the researcher. The only criterion that was followed was that of interviewing people who are active in their professional career of journalist and aged 60 or older - the elderly person standard established by the UNO (United Nations Organization) / Neste trabalho, pretende-se discutir a velhice e o envelhecimento como condição pessoal e processo sociocultural. Toma-se como foco a passagem do tempo na vida de pessoas, considerando aí a articulação do tempo cronológico e do tempo kairós. A pesquisadora jornalista de profissão desde a década de 1980 entrevistou seis jornalistas da imprensa escrita da cidade de São Paulo; primeiramente, com o intuito de poder analisar, por intermédio dos depoimentos e de sua própria experiência, a relação entre esses profissionais da comunicação e o modo de envelhecerem no meio profissional; e, num segundo momento, com o objetivo de compreender, de forma mais abrangente, os significados da velhice e do envelhecimento no contexto social. No caso do Jornalismo, nas décadas de 1980 e 1990, a pesquisadora pôde presenciar, na condição de recém-formada da área, acontecimentos bem marcantes na história da grande imprensa no País, não somente do ponto de vista político (pós-ditadura), como do ponto de vista tecnológico, com uma série de mudanças no setor da mídia impressa, especialmente com a inserção, nas empresas de jornal de grande porte, de máquinas digitais e, por conseguinte, com a substituição de vários profissionais da edição de um modo mais amplo. As tensões daquele momento foram observadas no seu ambiente de trabalho, levando-a a pensar, pela primeira vez, no seu envelhecimento e o do grupo em que adentrava como recém-formada. Um grupo de jornalistas que se segmentava de forma contundente, cada vez mais, sobretudo, no referente à diferença de gerações a dos jornalistas mais jovens (entre 25 a 40 anos de idade) e a dos mais velhos (dos 50 anos em diante). Além disso, a pesquisadora pôde observar de perto como os jornalistas, em sua maioria os mais velhos, lidavam com a imposição das novas aparelhagens tecnológicas nas redações de jornal e como esses eram vistos e tratados quando não se familiarizavam com os novos instrumentos de trabalho. Como estratégia de investigação, optou-se por uma metodologia qualitativa, com o uso de entrevistas semiestruturadas, dirigidas a esses seis profissionais escolhidos pela pesquisadora de maneira livre, seguindo apenas o critério de reunir pessoas que se encontram na ativa de sua carreira profissional de jornalista e com mais de 60 anos de idade, padrão de pessoa idosa estabelecido pela ONU (Organização das Nações Unidas)

Previous issue date: 2015-09-28 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In recent years, more specifically since the modern era, the phenomena rituals have been object of formation of concepts both in the context of the studies of Sciences of Religion, as well as of the social sciences. Within this perspective, Edmund Leach proposed a model of time ritual where in each intermission of ritual festivities, situated between periods of social life, represents a change from the normal order-profane existence to the unusual order-sacred and thus retroactively. However, when addressing the knowledge about the intermission of Sacred Time, in Leach configured in his own time ritual proposal and conceived as a taboo area, marginal, from another world, we have identified that this represents an area insufficiently studied by the same author who interpreted this ritual domain exclusively, from mythological elements associated with the notion of Cronus, leading us to assume that some issues have been "hidden". .In this respect, and taking as a reference that, for some traditions of ancient Greece, the time was designed from a dual perspective, our research focused on an interpretation of Sacred time interval, in Leach in the light of Kairos. This research which was developed based on the bibliographical research method, reached results indicating that while the time interval, in Leach interpreted in the light of the myth of Cronus, manifests itself as part of a linear sequence which combines switchovers and stops between Sacred Time while this same interval ritual associated with kairological time, denotes not a part of time, but its origin or an outburst of eternity in time pulsing between speed (continuum) and immobility, follows an irreversible and one-way course when time rewinds and stops. It is expected from the results of this research to contribute to the context of the Sciences of Religion, Social Sciences and Psychology regarding the knowledge of the Sacred Time in Leach as benchmarks for future researchers who intend to discuss and deepen the theme / Nos últimos anos, mais especificamente, desde a era moderna os fenômenos rituais, tem sido objeto de formação de conceitos tanto no contexto de estudo das Ciências da Religião, quanto das Ciências Sociais. Dentro desta perspectiva Edmund Leach propôs um modelo de tempo ritual em que cada intervalo de festividades rituais, situado entre períodos da vida social, representa uma mudança da ordem Normal-Profana da existência para a ordem Anormal-Sagrada e, assim, retroativamente. Contudo, ao abordarmos o intervalo de Tempo Sagrado, em Leach concebido como uma zona tabu, marginal, do outro mundo, identificamos que este representa um domínio insuficientemente estudado pelo mesmo autor que interpretou este domínio ritual exclusivamente, a partir de elementos mitológicos associados à noção de Cronos, levando-nos a supor que algumas questões ficaram escondidas . Neste sentido e, tomando como referência a crença adotada por algumas tradições da Grécia antiga, de que Cronos e Kairos, representavam dois aspectos do tempo, distintos e em oposição embora, de mesma natureza nossa investigação centrou-se em uma interpretação do intervalo de Tempo Sagrado, em Leach à luz de Kairos. Esta investigação que foi desenvolvida tendo por base o método bibliográfico de pesquisa alcançou resultados indicando que o intervalo de Tempo Sagrado, em Leach interpretado à luz do mito de Cronos, manifesta-se como parte de uma sequência linear que conjuga repetições e paradas entre Tempo Sagrado e Tempo Profano enquanto este mesmo intervalo ritual associado ao tempo kairológico, denota não uma parte do tempo, mas, sua origem ou, uma irrupção da eternidade no tempo que pulsando entre velocidade (continuum) e imobilidade, segue um curso irreversível e unidirecional quando o tempo retrocede e pára. Espera-se a partir dos resultados desta pesquisa contribuir com o contexto das Ciências da Religião, Ciências Sociais e Psicologia a respeito do conhecimento do Tempo Sagrado, em Leach, bem como com referenciais de futuros pesquisadores que tenham a intenção de abordar e aprofundar o tema

日期符號事件近年來頻繁出現在台灣媒體文本中:大眾媒體以日期命名,讓數字符號在眾多論述中標誌相關事件。其中,「520」就是帶有濃厚政治意涵的媒體事件。這一日期符號在每四年一次報章的相關論述中,觸發了集體記憶、認同、與媒體儀式機制,以再現並形塑正副總統就職儀禮,也帶領閱聽眾一同參與和詮釋符號事件。
本文首先藉由520的時間結構分析,劃分出日常生活時刻與關鍵契機(kairos)的差異,彰顯特定時空情境閱聽眾的行動能力——及催生他們自成一個共同體的想像。其次,再藉由520儀式的象徵符號論述,探討在變遷時空背景下的國族想像轉變。
在現今開放性的文化中,520不僅是「言說的符號」也是「行動的身體」。閱聽眾運用520象徵符號連結相關的事件,也在儀式行動中確認符號的意義。所以,520兼備了此二特質,把空間情境、行為轉變隱藏在時間符號開展的過程裡。
綜上所述,本文以論述分析及儀式展演說明520符號的變遷,正是顯現520以人為命名方式,將行動的意圖包裝成讓閱聽眾記憶與見證的歷史,並引領閱聽眾以新時代的價值為名義,建構一個關於美好未來的國族想像。
