E mostram ainda que o acesso a esse tipo de atividade resulta em aspectos significativamente positivos para a vida e para a qualidade de vida das pessoas com deficiência / Abstract: Nowadays it is common people seek for leisure activities in touch with nature and in the adventure form. More recently, however, it was verified an increasing search for this kind of leisure among people with disability. This scenario constitutes a new fact. Moreover, this fact reveals in the relation among leisure interfaces, the adventure activities and the quality of life. Front to this scenario, this research objectifies to comprehend the accessibility meaning to the adventure activities in nature for people's life with disability and consequently, for the quality of life of these. This objective is also to identify the meaning of the accessibility for the life of these people, as well as the leisure access meaning as a whole. For its amplitude, this research characterizes a sociological approach, considering especially the need to comprehend the dynamics in which things happen. The adopted methodological procedure is the qualitative analysis, because the relation between leisure practices and the feelings that they yield, as well as the relation between such feelings and the quality of life, the study focus, hardly is quantifiable, once it involves several meanings, reasons, aspirations, beliefs, values and attitudes that are sustained in subjectivity. The adopted delineation is the exploratory research, because this study aims larger familiarity with the presented problem. The conceptual and operational model is the cross-fertilization between theoretical reasoning and the empiric reality. For such procedure were performed observations and interviews. From the observations it objectified to verify the efficiency of adapted equipment and practitioners' feelings. From the interviews, it objectified, from the managers, to comprehend the development process of this adaptation and the goals of the same. And from people with disability, it objectified to improve the understanding about the search reason for such activities and the meaning of this practice for these people. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and analyzed. The location pre-established for the field research is the city of Socorro, in the state of São Paulo. The location choice is due the fact of this municipal district proposed take part of a project destined to the forms and equipment development adapted for the adventure activities practice for people with disability. The analysis valued the data set, in an integrated perspective, seeking to explore the phenomenon in the context in which it occurs and which it is included. The data show that the municipal district obtained a very significant growth from its involvement and investment in adapted adventures activities. The data also show that it is elevated the number of people with disability that seek for these leisure activities. / This is a study on practices that come up in the intersection between religion and leisure, carried out in order to understand how a sphere influences the other, through a search of young evangelicals. The religion was treated as a cultural system and the leisure as a dimension of culture characterized by personal quest for pleasure. Adopting the ethnographic method, many leisure activities of young people have been mapped. Some who initially were not perceived as such. Through the notions circuit of evangelical events and slice of believers such practices were analyzed together. The way young people experience their faith and enjoy your leisure shows that the believer is not necessarily averse to leisure. A retrospective of their cultural system indicates that it may never have been. Moderation, sectarianism and a type of hedonism seem dispute the influence of leisure. Today, among the young people surveyed, this dispute is translated into several individual summaries, although, for them, some are more desirable than others.

Exploring leisure planning: implications for retirement

Hetherington, Arne 20 December 2019 (has links)
Retirement is a significant life transition for many older adults, and historically most retirement planning focusses on financial planning. Not only is there far less importance placed on non-financial retirement planning, but also there is also little research on what planning priorities contribute to retirement satisfaction. This dissertation presents two studies conducted with the purpose of identifying these priorities. Study one involved one-on-one semi-structured interviews of 16 retired and non-retired individuals who were engaged in an endurance serious leisure sport. It revealed similarities and differences between pre-retired and retired participants as well as overall contradictions between participants’ perceived and practised retirement strategies. While a general lack of leisure retirement planning was observed, self-determination theory’s precepts of autonomy, competence, and relatedness fulfilment were predominant in the significance the endurance sport held for participants’ retirement plans and appeared to contribute significantly to retirement well-being. The second study was a sequential transformative mixed-method design of 50 retired individuals involving an online survey and focus group discussion and was founded on Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Serious Leisure Perspective (SLP). Qualitative data were analysed using Constant Comparison Method, Word Count, and Classical Content Analysis. Quantitative methods were applied to determine if retirement satisfaction and vitality related to SDT constructs. Using multiple linear regression analyses, autonomy (β = .43; 95% CI .04 - .22; p = .01), leisure priority (β =.28; 95% CI -.01 - .33; p =.05), and casual leisure competence (β =.68; 95% CI .02 - .59; p =.04) emerged as items most related to retirement satisfaction, while relatedness (β .32; 95% CI .14 – 1.44; p = .02) and autonomy satisfaction (β =.27; 95% CI -.01 – 1.26; p =.05) were associated with vitality. / Graduate

The Benefits of Adult Piano Study as Self-Reported by Selected Adult Piano Students.

Jutras, Peter J. 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to assess the benefits that selected adult piano students reported receiving from their study. Adult piano students (N = 711) from 24 states representing all geographic regions of the U.S. each completed a questionnaire containing 31 individual benefit items. These benefits were organized into 3 categories: Personal, Skill, and Social/Cultural. The demographic characteristics of the study population were consistent with the findings of other adult music research. Students indicated the existence (yes or no) of each benefit and rated the importance of existing benefits on a scale of 1-10. The category of Skill Benefits was the most agreed upon and highest rated category in the study, with over 90% agreement for each of the 7 Skill Benefits. The 14 Personal Benefits were also rated highly, particularly benefits related to self-actualization and fun. Self-related Personal Benefits were rated moderately, while more introverted Personal Benefits such as Imagination/Creativity, Spirituality, and Aesthetic Appreciation were lower rated benefits. The 10 Social/Cultural benefits were the lowest rated and least important benefits in the study. The most agreed upon benefits were Skill Improvement, Musical Knowledge, Musicianship, Accomplishment, Skill Refinement, Technique, Play/Fun, Escape from Routine, and Music Listening. The highest rated benefits in terms of importance were Dream Fulfilled, Technique, Accomplishment, Escape from Routine, Skill Improvement, Musicianship, Musical Knowledge, Play/Fun, Skill Refinement, and Personal Growth.

The human role in a teacher role : "A scientific essay about power and relations between people in the school world"

Dahl, Lovisa, Grass, Madelene January 2021 (has links)
This scientific essay is research for how and why exercises of power appear between teachers with different educations but also how much the identity and different experience in a human can affect it? Based on own self-experienced stories that took place in our workplaces for a couple of years ago our investigation in this essay is to look for possible causes for behaviors and situations that arise in the school system. Among other things, we will examine the impact that the school and the background of the leisure center have when it comes to the power relations that we see exist in the school. We will try to understand how it affects our assignment as a leisure center teacher in the compulsory school and what consequences it has for our room for maneuver. We will also reflect and investigate how we by ourselves could bridge the gap that can arise between leisure center teachers and school/subject teachers. The purpose of seeking a deeper understanding of this is also to be able to create a broader knowledge about the struggle for power and status we can see exists between the school and the leisure center. An important part of this essay is to see if it`s the different leadership and teacher roles that exist in the school system that govern power and status, or if it may be the human identity that is the most decisive for how it appears. With the help of Aristotle's theories of knowledge and Michel Foucault's theories of power, we will examine this in the hope of a deeper understanding of the situations that we after-school teachers in school can end up in and knowledge of how these can be understood from different points of view.

Volný čas (analýza současného stavu problematiky vyplnění a trávení volného času u mládeže v České republice) / Leisure time (current situation analysis of the content and spending the leisure time among youth in the Czech republic)

Toušová, Simona January 2009 (has links)
Diploma thesis "Leisure time (current situation analysis of the content and spending the leisure time among youth in the Czech republic)" is focused on the approach of the youth to the leisure time and highlighting the importance of leisure time activities for successful personal growth. In the theoretical part, I define what the leisure time is and specify terms used for youth and education in the leisure time. I describe functions and purposes of the leisure time, the importance of the content of the leisure time, factors influencing the selection of leisure time activities and I mention some approaches used in other countries. Further I describe the development of the youth policy in the Czech republic, the role of the state in the youth policy, the legislative amendments and contextual strategic documents connected with the youth policy. In the analytic part I have used current empiric researches and analysed PISA 2003 data using SPSS. The aim is to answer three questions. How do the youth people spend their leisure time? Is there a selective approach? If yes, what are the reasons? Is there enough institutions providing leisure time activities in the Czech republic? I have also analysed state institutions and bodies related to the youth in the Czech republic and analysing all providers of...
